From the very lowest moment in her life the extraordinarily talented Rebecca Ferguson has produced a breath taking new album, ‘Superwoman’. It is set to be released 14th October and her first single ‘Bones’ will be available from 2nd September (impacting 7th October). Forged from heartbreak and a tale of lover’s abandonment combined with the bittersweet joy of giving birth to his child, Superwoman is infused with the strength of a woman who has finally taken control. It is the ultimate soundtrack for anyone who has ever had to build themselves back up after a heartbreak Rebecca is stronger, happier and more fearless than ever before. Rebecca says of the album “This is honest and emotionally complex, I found strength and security writing this album” adding “It’s my most personal album ever and it’s brought me to a place in my life where I feel strong. I called it Superwoman because I learnt to embrace my vulnerability and accept it as a strength.” ‘Superwoman’ was produced by Troy Miller (Mark Ronson, Amy Winehouse), and features collaborators such as Jonny Lattimer (Ellie Goulding, James Bay), Negin Djafari (Miley Cyrus) and previous collaborator Eg White (Adele, Florence And The Machine, Sam Smith). One of the most distinctive voices in pop, Rebecca has previously won critical acclaim for taking on the Billie Holiday songbook in previous release ‘Lady Sings The Blues’. The working class girl from Liverpool who battled so hard to make it as a singer has become one of the most exciting and compelling artists of our times. This is her fourth album, something not many ‘talent show’ contestants can say, but from the off there was always something intrinsically sincere about Rebecca’s delivery that set her apart from everyone else. Since her break on X Factor six years ago, the once shy and insecure artist has gone on to win fans on both sides of the Atlantic, touring Britain, Europe and America winning plaudits from Adele as well as critics winning comparisons to her heroes Macy Gray and Aretha Franklin. Rebecca is embarking on a tour later this year, dates are: 23/10 Venue Cymru, Llandudno 24/10 Manchester Bridgewater Hall 25/10 Glasgow Royal Concert Hall 27/10 Sage Gateshead 28/10 York Barbican Centre 01/11 The London Palladium , London 02/11 Birmingham Symphony Hall 04/11 Liverpool Philharmonic Hall 05/11 Cambridge Corn Exchange 06/11 Colston Hall, Bristol 08/11 Nottingham Royal Concert Hall 09/11 Ipswich Regent Theatre 11/11 Sheffield City Hall 13/11 G Live Guildford 14/11 St David’s Hall, Cardiff 15/11 De Montfort Hall, Leicester The extraordinarily talented Rebecca Ferguson has produced her new album ‘Superwoman’. The song will be Distras’ first new music since the release of her critically acclaimed 2013 debut album “Dreams from the Factory Floor”. Co-produced by Ross Petersen (Bruce Springsteen, The Vamps, John Mayer) and “Dreams from the Factory Floor” producer Steve Whale (The Business), “Aileen” represents real musical growth and a sonic shift for Louise, being an impassioned radio anthem that steps away from the punk and protest tags of her past and into powerpop territory. Nevertheless, the pop-friendly hooks house an intense emotional core. Lyrically “Aileen” is a hard-hitting dancefloor track that explores the dark story of ‘America’s first female serial killer’ Aileen Wuornos. It’s a song that sees Distras questioning rape culture and the sanctity of life. The song is living proof – if ever it was needed – that pop music does not have to mean ‘dumbed-down’ or ‘throwaway.’ Says Distras of “Aileen”: "One night after a show I watched the Nick Broomfield documentary 'Selling of a Serial Killer', which is about 'America's first female serial killer', Aileen Wuornos. As someone who has experienced homelessness and sexual assault, Aileen's story hit me pretty hard but left me feeling inspired to share it through my music. The film also left me with my own questions about rape culture and the idea of nature VS nurture, so I decided to make my own DIY film that explores the lyrical content of the single. It's called 'Real Outlaw – A Commentary on Rape Culture and the Riot Grrrl Movement' and it's available via scanning a QR code that's printed on the back of the CD and also on tour posters across the UK." “Aileen” it's accompanying film will be released worldwide on 30th September 2016 digitally via iTunes and Amazon, or CD and coloured vinyl available exclusively via Louise's official website: www.louisedistras.co.uk The past three years have seen Louise Distras touring across the UK, Europe, Canada and the USA with the likes of Mick Jones (The Clash), Billy Bragg, Buzzcocks, Stiff Little Fingers, The Damned and The Red Paintings, taking in appearances at such globally renowned festivals as Glastonbury, Camden Rocks, Bearded Theory, and most recently the main stages at the UK's Rebellion Festival and Punk Rock Bowling in Las Vegas. Garnering comparisons to charged songstresses Brody Dalle and Courtney Love, Distras has been praised by The Guardian, The Independent, Big Cheese, BBC Radio 1, XFM and KROQ who have all pinpointed her as “one of the most exciting and original singer-songwriters in the UK!” Louise and her band will be touring the UK throughout 2016.
