Australia's Flynn Effect release video for 'Fade' and announce 'Obsidian' album tour dates

Flynn Effect are giving their new dark and brooding film-clip to the world and releasing the details of their Obsidian album tour. Second Album 'Obsidian' will be available for purchase on August 4 and can be pre-ordered now at Bandcamp.

The pyro-and-makeup-heavy filmclip is for single FADE, which Heavy Magazine described as "Simply Beautiful", sets the tone for the album and shows all and sundry just what Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne are in store for when Flynn Effect hits their town (probably minus the Pyros, though!).

The short but excellent tour takes in Sydney's The Factory Floor on Friday August 11 with Gods of Eden, Mercury Sky and Reign on Mars, Melbourne's iconic The Workers Club Sunday August 13 with Caution:Thieves, Enlight and Terrestrials and hometown Brisbane on Friday August 18 at The Brightside with Mercury Sky, Seraphic and Periapsis.

Lead singer Tomina Vincent said that she is proud of the effort that went into this film-clip - "We wanted the film clip to be sort of opposite to the song. It's a very hopeful and upbeat track, but we wanted to add a little bit of darkness and theatre to it - its what we love and basically what Flynn Effect is all about. It was filmed in over 12 hours in the freezing cold; lights exploded, the fire brigade almost fined us. There were unplanned explosions, bruises, we couldn't wash the fake blood off for days, I nearly fainted several times, but It was a lot of fun! We couldn't be happier with this album and we're incredibly excited to be playing these new songs for people on the road. Its our first national tour and we've got a very ambitious show this time around which we can't wait to reveal."

14/6/2017

Picture

A true clash of the titans, America’s pre-eminent multiplatinum chart-topping hard rock band Five Finger Death Punch unite with renowned chart-topping European legends In Flames to co-headline what promises to be the biggest and most exciting arena rock tour of Fall/Winter 2017. This marks the very first time that these two juggernauts have joined forces on the road together, and it’s a “can’t miss” moment for the genre and fans at large. The trek ravages arenas across Europe and the UK beginning in November, stopping in most major cities, and concluding December 21 at iconic Wembley Arena in London, UK. General ticket on sale will take place this Friday, June 16 at 10:00am local time.

Spotify and Live Nation have joined forces with Five Finger Death Punch and In Flames for a one-of-a-kind tour partnership featuring exclusive pre-sales, packages, and content from both bands. The tour has partnered with Spotify for an exclusive 24-hour pre-sale kicking off tomorrow for super fan listeners of both acts, Wednesday, Jun 14 at 10:00am local time. There will also be a Ticketmaster pre-sale starting on June 15 at 10:00am local time leading up to the general on sale the next day. See tour dates below. Additional show dates are anticipated to be announced in the near future. For exclusive VIP offerings, go to fivefingerdeathpunch.com and http://inflames.seetickets.com/tour/in-flames. Live Nation presents the tour with Spotify. German tour dates will be presented by Live Nation, Wizard Promotions, and Spotify.

5FDP guitarist Zoltan Bathory states: "We are currently playing all the European festivals and are having an amazing time. As these massive crowds are singing along every word of the lyrics, it feels like Europe is truly becoming the second home of Five Finger Death Punch. We can't wait to come back this Fall and especially with In Flames which is one of my favorite bands. This will be something special to see…”

In Flames singer Anders Fridén offers: “We’ve been lucky to play for so many Jesterheads around the World this year and can’t think of a better way to end 2017 than touring Europe with Five Finger Death Punch. We’ll see you soon Jesterheads and Knuckleheads. It’s going to be a tour to remember.”

Support on select EU dates and all UK dates of the tour comes from Of Mice And Men. The Orange County, CA-based band recently returned with two brand new songs, “Back To Me” and “Unbreakable,” via Rise Records. They performed a successful main stage set at Download Festival this past weekend and will be on tour across Europe throughout July. The band has sold over 700,000 records worldwide and previously toured with the likes of Linkin Park, Slipknot and Marilyn Manson.

Both Five Finger Death Punch and In Flames remain leaders of hard rock and heavy music worldwide:

Five Finger Death Punch’s crushingly epic 2015 sixth full-length studio album Got Your Six, hit new heights for the band around the world with chart-topping debuts in the US (#1 on Top Album chart, #1 on Overall Digital Album chart, #1 on the Hard Music Album chart, #2 on the Billboard Top 200) and internationally (Australia & Canada #3, Germany & Sweden #5, UK #6 Holland #17, Belgium #29 and France #32). The album was the sixth consecutive one to earn the Las Vegas rockers a RIAA Gold certification. Acclaimed by The Guardian and Classic Rock, it yielded four successive Active Rock smashes “Jekyll & Hyde” (50.4 million Spotify streams), #1 hit single “Wash It All Away” (32.9 million Spotify streams), “My Nemesis” #2 (16.29 million Spotify streams) and most recently “I Apologize” #3 (17.5 million Spotify streams). Refining their inimitable fusion of intricate instrumentation and undeniable hooks, Got Your Six represents yet another high watermark for the group who claim 17 consecutive Top 10 Hits, five #1 songs and frequently outsell the majority of bands in their genre.

12 albums into their storied career, In Flames reached new heights on 2016’s Battles—produced by GRAMMY Award winner Howard Benson [My Chemical Romance, Papa Roach], hitting Top 10 charts around the World with a #2 in Sweden, #3 in Finland and multiple other major countries such as Germany and Austria.  Alternative Press, Metal Hammer, and more praised the record as the hit “The End” clocked over 6.6 million Spotify streams and counting. Most recently, they unleashed two new official music videos for their latest singles; first being “Here Until Forever” in May via Decibel, HERE and “Save Me” via European retail giant EMP, today upon announcement of the tour. Watch “Save Me” HERE

Dear marks the band’s 25th year of existence and while the 10-track album is chock-full of early-Boris calling cards, the avant-garde ravens aren’t learning on old tricks, describing the album as “heavenly—far beyond heavy.”  Boris have shared the album’s first single and magnificent new music video “Absolutego”.

Though Boris have traversed a broad swath of sonic territories, they have always been consistently embraced the excess, pushing their myriad of approaches and stylistic forays to points of intoxicating absurdity. Eventually the band reached a crossroads in the early years of their third decade together, leaving them wondering if there were any new horizons left to explore. The renewed vitality yielded an album that fortifies their monolithic wall of sound while also allowing the individual band members to explore the nuances and intricacies of minimalist riffs played at maximum volume.

Songwriting for Dear initially yielded three albums’ worth of material by the end of 2015, but as the band was slated to spend a large chunk of 2016 on their “Performing Pink” worldwide tour, they decided to hold off on releasing any new material. The tour further rekindled their passion for the craft, spurring the band to return home to crank out even more new material while scaling down three records’ worth of sonic deluge down to one.

From the glacial pacing and earthquaking rumble of the album opener to the smouldering rock ’n roll-infused “Absolutego”, Boris have managed to find wildly thrilling work in the familiar trenches of metal. Never ones to shy away from a challenge, the trio carves even experiments with fuzz fuelled dream pop.  “At the very first moment, this album began as some kind of potential farewell note of Boris,” the band said. “However, it became a sincere letter to fans and listeners… you know, like ‘Dear so-and-so, this is the new album from Boris’ or something like that. We feel so grateful we can release this album in our 25th anniversary year.”

Dear will be released to the world on July 14, 2017 on CD, 2xLP, and digital formats. Stay tuned for more news to come.
