New Zealand's Ulcerate shares "Extinguished Light" from Relapse-bound Shrines Of Paralysis; album and tour details announced

24/8/2016

Picture

Forward-thinking, unorthodox New Zealand death metal trio Ulcerate returns this October with their latest master-work Shrines Of Paralysis. A flawless continuation of the band's signature sonic philosophy, this week the band shares the album's street date and pre-orders, as well as the first single, "Extinguished Light."

Shrines Of Paralysis spans eight tracks of Ulcerate's singular death metal, incorporating a wider range of styles and ideas than ever before. Influences both within and beyond metal abound: organic, inventive phrasings and novel compositional techniques flesh out a thundering package of death, doom, and black metal styles. As is characteristic of the band, Shrines Of Paralysis is about much more than just the music. The production, themes, and atmosphere all shape Ulcerate's music, and help guide the way through a highly evocative palette of dark and light passages, subtly dramatic rhythmic manipulation, and unparalleled technical heaviness. The band's most cohesive and powerful release to date.

Stream "Extinguished Light," the first single from Shrines Of Paralysis, via Relapse HERE and the label's Soundcloud HERE.

Shrines Of Paralysis is due out October 28th, 2016 on CD, 2xLP, and digital formats via Relapse Records. Physical packages and digital pre-orders are available HERE.

Additionally, Ulceratehas announced a headlining North American Fall tour with Icelandic dissonance-mongers Zhrine and Montreal death metal quartet Phobocosm. Eistnaflug 2014 announces line-up and ticket sales are on now!

Iceland's premier Rock & Metal festival Eistnaflug announces ticket sales.

Are you looking for something more than “just” a festival?! Maybe some epic landscapes, 24 hour daylight, a chilled out atmosphere with a welcoming audience, and a remarkably diverse melting pot line-up, with a few selected, prime foreign acts stacking up against a massive selection of all the great things the Iceland music scene has to offer every year?! There are no boundaries – from indie rock to hardcore to black metal, everything that’s good is embraced and can be experienced at Eistnaflug

“An incredibly diverse rock and metal festival, with three days of everything from punk to black metal played until the early hours of the morning in an isolated fjord where the sun never sets. Needless to say, it’s a magical experience.” - Hannah May Kilroy, Terrorizer

“Eistnaflug feels like the kind of vaguely familiar parallel reality Haruki Murakami would dream up, enhanced greatly by the fact that this is summer, and the perpetual light is going to conspire with the environment to utterly fuck with your sense of time and space until your journey back through the portal. For a country with a population of 320,000, there’s a staggering number of native metal and rock bands, the vast majority of whom are clearly determined to follow their own muse rather than fall into identikit rituals of trend-chasers.” - Jonathan Selzer, Metal Hammer

“The name of the festival isn’t easy for non-Icelandic speakers – Eistnaflug. The name of the little town (which doubles its population of 1500 when the event takes place) on an isolated fjord where the festival takes place is even harder – Neskaupstaður. But apart from linguistics, that’s really where all the stress ends with this festival. If you do decide to undertake this adventure, you’ll be rewarded with one of the coolest, most chilled-out atmospheres in any festival, ever. With 24 hour daylight, a welcoming party of smiling, peacefully drunk Icelandic metalheads and all the best talent the rich local scene has to offer, plus with a couple of big international bands to spice things up, the three days will just zoom by and you’ll never want to leave.” – Jose Carlos Santos, Terrorizer

Next summer Eistnaflug will celebrate their 10 year anniversary! It’s pretty wild considering this is a small festival in a fjord on the East Coast of Iceland. To celebrate this milestone in their history they have been working hard on booking great bands and this is what they have so far: the fathers of Gothenburg Death Metal, At the Gates, heavy hitting sludgers, Zatokrev with Iceland’s own: Sólstafir, HAM, Skálmöld, Brain Police, The Vintage Caravan, Momentum, Dimma and Gone Postal. More bands TBA.

The dates for Eistnaflug 2014 are 10-12th of July. Tickets will go on sale on 1st November. For further info visit www.facebook.com/EistnaflugFestival or www.eistnaflug.is

For further info about the festival or how to get there feel free to send them a message on Facebook or e-mail eistnaflug@eistnaflug.is
