"SOS Festival is thrilled to announce the first 9 bands for our 2017 edition, the 10th in our history. Headlining Friday we’re delighted to announce Kill II This. It’s great for us that another Manchester band has the kudos to headline, just as Absolva did us proud on our Friday in 2016. Kill II This blend extreme metal with elements of industrial electronica and even a little hip-hop. Terrorizer magazine summarized it well – ‘Their sound crosses clever industrial style sampling with fearsome guitar. Kill II This have created a beast which is threatening yet danceable’ We can also announce for the Friday line-up a return for A Joker’s Rage, from York, who were comfortably one of the absolute highlights of SOS 2016, and I Saw The World Burn, from the Midlands, will bring their brutal, riff-laden thrash groove when they open up the weekend. Confirmation of Saturday headliners will have to wait until another day, but we’re excited to say the band that will fill the main ‘support’ slot is Screaming Eagles. This rock quartet from Northern Ireland have impressed during the past few years, not least with their song ‘Rock n Roll Soul’ which was featured in a hit US TV series ‘Justified’. Classic Rock magazine said this ‘Think AC/DC fronted by a Paul Rodgers-style vocalist’ which is a great steer on the style and quality of this band. Also on Saturday we have symphonic metallers Pythia, based in the south of England, who were booked for 2016 but couldn’t make it due to horrendous traffic chaos. We’re delighted to say we’ve been able to re-book them for 2017. The other band that didn’t make it in 2016 due to serious illness to their drummer, is Crowsaw, from the South Wales border area, who are now confirmed for 2017, whilst for the first time from Sweden we welcome doom metalheads Core of Nation, long-standing friends of our management team. Our Sunday headliners are confirmed but not ready to be announced for a couple of weeks yet, so more exciting news is to come, but meanwhile for Sunday we are able to announce a very welcome return for Nottingham-based Fahran, exponents of a hard rock sound inspired by the likes of Queen, Thin Lizzy, Alter Bridge and Black Stone Cherry. Also on Sunday, we’re very happy to welcome Resin, from Leicester area, a band recommended by many of our friends and supporters. All the above bands are confirmed for the Dean Hocking Stage, that’s our main stage named after the bassist of Lincoln-based Nightvision, who was tragically killed in a car accident on 27th December 2012 at the tender age of 23. Dean graced the main stage at SOS Festival more than once and is forever fondly remembered and always missed, as a talented musician and dear friend. As well as the Dean Hocking Stage we have an acoustic stage kindly sponsored by Metal Nation Radio. We’ll be ready to announce bands for the Metal Nation Radio Acoustic Stage before long. SOS is a 3 day, 2 stage, rock and metal festival in North Manchester, with an enviable reputation as the friendliest, most welcoming such event in the UK." For tickets and more information please visit www.sosfestival.net A few days ago, the organizers of the Under The Black Sun 2017 confirmed Czech kult Black Metal outfit Inferno for the festival, and now they have more for you already: The next great band that is going to play on the festival's 2017 edition are Western Germany's Black Metal occultists Darkened Nocturn Slaughtercult. The band around vocalist / guitarist Onielar and guitarist Velnias released their latest album "Necrovision" in 2012 and return to the stage in Helenenau in the woods outside Berlin after eight years of UTBS abstinence. The billing of Under The Black Sun 2017 thus looks like this so far: DARKENED NOCTURN SLAUGHTERCULT (DE) INFERNO (CZ) KULT (IT) NOCTURNAL DEPRESSION (FR) THE RUINS OF BEVERAST (DE) Tickets for the Under The Black Sun 2017 are available under the following links: E-Ticket (Early Bird): http://www.folter666shop.de/de/Tickets/eTicket/UTBS-2017--Hardticket-3249.html Hardticket (Early Bird): http://www.folter666shop.de/de/Tickets/Hardticket/UTBS-2017--Hardticket.html You can find further information on the festival's homepage or on the UTBS facebook page. Female fronted Los Angeles hard Rock band Hail Sagan has announced that they will be playing in Spokane, Washington at The Pin on August 31st and the Make America Rock Again Tour on September 3rd in Reedley, California (Fresno) at The Wakehouse with Alien Ant Farm, Trapt Tantric and more. The guitar pictured above will be signed by the band and raffled off at the Make America Rock Again Tour on Sept. 3rd in Fresno. The guitar raffle is free for everyone, but we ask you to please make a donation. A portion of the donations will go to the "Love Is Louder" foundation which addresses issues like bullying, negative self-image, discrimination, loneliness, and depression. Hail Sagan features powerhouse vocalist Sagan Amery, with a devilish masked group rumoured to include guitarists Nick Quijano (Powerman 5000) and Andrew Weissberg. Since forming in 2015, the band has amassed a monstrous fanbase, with over 200,000 followers across their social media, solidified further this month with the release of their debut video “Dark Cloud”. The clip, which debuted earlier this month via Revolver, has already gained over 112,000 views. The track, and video, which deals with the subject of abuse and bullying, has already resonated strongly with fans. Amery says:- "It's been a great experience being able to broach the subject of bullying and abuse with the lyrics of this song. We took it one step further and created a video with director Matthew Crum and DP Kenny Keeler that visually enhanced the sensitive subject matter. We chose to mask the members of the band in an effort to show the world that anyone can be a part of this, you never know who will be under there, maybe even a fan or someone who needs music to save them." You can view the video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GGK6UYAstnc The band will release their self-titled debut EP in Fall 2016 on EMP Label Group, and will be available for pre-order later this month. Altogether there are twelve bands performing on two stages, the other ten bands have been announced over the months before. The two aforementioned bands will be joined by Sweden's Katatonia, Italy's Fleshgod Apocalypse, Dutch metallers Stream Of Passion, Mayan and Textures. Canada's, Tunisia's Myrath, Belgium's Evil Invaders and Off The Cross, and of course the centrepiece of the event, Epica (NL). Epica's destined concert will be momentous as it coincides with their new album 'The Holographic Principle' being released, but also it will be Epica's only Benelux show this year. Tickets (single tickets or ticket bundles + signed copies of the new CD) are available here:- http://www.ticketmaster.nl/event/163671?CAMEFROM=013&brand=nl_013web The day for Epic Metalfest - 30th September brings Dutch symphonic metallers Epica new seventh studio album 'The Holographic Principle' to life, it can be pre-ordered via http://www.epicawebshop.com/ Not only is the album itself different, but also the creation of it (which lasted more than one year). The band decided not to use samples but to purely utilize instruments, guest singers and choirs. Only the preparations were a massive undertaking because all of the (classical) instrumental and vocal parts were first written on sheet music. Then the band recorded the music with numerous musicians and singers all at once: strings, brass, woodwinds, percussion, choir, soloists and ethnic instruments. The result was a record number of recorded audio tracks - sometimes up to 1,000 per song. Brief information on the newly confirmed bands
Here's a backdrop for both the last two bands to be confirmed, The Ocean and For I Am King. Since its inception in 2000, The Ocean are a quintet built on solid reputation in the heavy (prog) scene. The band describe their sound as "music with guitars in it". The bands live shows are given an extra dimension by using a striking light show, resulting in an impressive performance and experience. For I Am King are a young and ambitious metal (core) band who musically sit somewhere between In Flames, Trivium, Darkest Hour, Arch Enemy and Killswitch Engage: heavy and modern but also melodic and catchy with custom-cut brutal vocals emanating from the eyecatching frontwoman Alma Alizadeh. Tickets (excl. Service charges)
Tickets for Epic Metal Fest are available through www.ticketmaster.nl and (NL) (+31) 0900 - 300 1250 (60 cpm).
