Finnish melodic metal troupe Psychework unleashes Fury and the Beast, a brand new track from their upcoming album, on 9th of March. After previous singles Siege and Ghost Patrol released at the end of 2017, it brings “something new and something borrowed” to the band’s sound, as the song also features Wild Till Hiltunen from the viral bluegrass cover sensation Steve ’N’ Seagulls on accordion.
“Musically a pretty wild track from the album, telling a true story about sadistic lovers in the middle of Eastern rush”, singer Antony Parviainen sheds light on the song.
Fury and the Beast is the third single to pave the way for Psychework’s second album, set for release on 20.4.2018 through Ranka Kustannus. The band will also tour Finland in April and May, with progressive power metal group Thaurorod and heavy metal outfit Kamara accompanying them on selected dates.

27.4. Crafters, Hyvinkää (w/ Thaurorod)
4.5. Jack The Rooster, Tampere
18.5. Virgin Oil, Helsinki (w/ Thaurorod)

Finnish melancholic metal combo Lamori are proud to unleash their new official video for "Until Death (Do Us Part)", track taken from "To Die Once Again" out via Wormholedeath.
Statement from the band:
"The theme of classic horror movies is something that is in the genes of Lamori. In this video we wanted to visualize some of the horror aspects in the songs lyrics. But we did not want to do a short horror movie based on the lyrics. Our idea was instead to create this visual enhancer of the whole ghastly atmosphere found in the song."

Blending the lines between gothic metal and modern rock, Finnish five piece Lamori likes to stir things up. Their music is inspired by classic horror movies, old romanticism and musical acts such as The 69 Eyes, Depeche Mode, Stone Sour, The Doors and early HIM. Hailing from the Aland Islands, a municipality of Finland, the band has played together since 2009 and released one EP and two albums. This summer the band will hit the studio to record their third album, a follow up to 2016’s To Die Once Again.

Finnish Troll / Folk metal band Verikalpa released their anticipated debut album 'Taistelutahto last Friday via Inverse Records.
Listen to the album on:
The band earlier released two singles Pahan Laulu & Tyrmä which both got stunning feedback from both fans and media. Verikalpa also secured a slot from famous Finnish midsummer metal festival Nummirock.
Verikalpa is a Troll/Beer-metal band from the Northern city of Oulu in Finland. They combine groovy riffs and rhythms with twisted folk melodies with a very Finnish touch. The lyrics are in Finnish and more specifically in the accent of Oulu. The songs are tales about drinking, hangovers, trolls and of course blood-spattered eternal battles. Verikalpa is formed by six musicians from bands such as Catamenia and Quake The Earth and this experienced group of musicians deliver their music with a firm touch and with an energetic live show.
The band comments:
"The time has finally come! After all the teasing and foreplay Verikalpa takes it's biggest step ever and presents Taistelutahto to the world! It took a lot of beering, strained neck-muscles and a few square feet of dandruff on the floor of the rehearsal-disco but after all that and the long hours in the studio we have to say it was all worth it! What make it so worth it you ask?
YOU! The fans and all you who have listened to the songs and headbanged in your bedroom hopefully in your underwear with a cold beer in your hands or in the middle of a sexual act!
A new page in Finnish groovy-folk-troll-beer-metal has been turned and this is only one of beginning chapters! Please keep streaming/listening the music on the platform of your choosing and let this be the soundtrack to your wildest nights! Cheers and beers to you all from Verikalpa!"

Blood Harvest Records has set April 13th as the international release date for Black Mass Pervertor's highly anticipated new mini-album, Life Beyond the Walls of Flesh, on CD, 12" vinyl, and cassette tape formats.
Hailing from the infinitely fertile Finnish black metal underground, Black Mass Pervertor is one of that scene's best-kept secrets. Although their discography is sparse so far, the band's history stretches back to 1998; some demo recordings were circulated privately during the mid-2000s until their first public release, the One-Way Pleasure EP, saw release in 2007. Back then, the Black Mass Pervertor sound was crude and grinding; it was their long-awaited debut album, 2016's Phanerosis, where their aesthetic started to shape into being. That recording certainly retain some crudity from the early days, but saw the trio shape their filth into a finely honed war-machine.
Now, with the successive Life Beyond the Walls of Flesh, filth and finesse reach a fever pitch. Bowing reverentially to their oft-overlooked forebears Belial, Barathrum, and especially early Impaled Nazarene whilst nodding to the early-Noughts work of Horna, Sargeist, and Behexen, Black Mass Pervertor create a veritable time-machine tornado of Finnish black metal history. Across seven deceptively catchy mini-anthems in a compact 20 minutes do the power-trio work their black magic, whipping forth a fury that nevertheless manages to evoke an atmosphere most sulphurous; indeed, not for nothing is a track like "Unorthodox Methods of Magick" titled the way it is. And yet, there's simultaneously a sense of Satanic glee here - you could call it "fun" - that fortunately manages to sidestep the cornier connotations of such a word.
Want to find Life Beyond the Walls of Flesh? Then let Black Mass Pervertor strip you bare! Start "Imbibing the Seas of Darkness" HERE at Blood Harvest's Bandcamp. Pre-order info can be found HERE.
Finnish thrashers Home Style Surgery has signed a new deal with Punishment 18 Records that will release their second full-length album. The new effort was mixed and mastered by Niko Hyvönen (Serotonin Syndrome, Temblad). New information will follow soon.
Finnish death / thrash metallers Khiral have released their first full length album called 'Chained'.
The foundations of Khiral were built already in 2008, but this stew required some years of slow cooking and a few line-up changes until 2016 when Khiral released their first singles Orphanage and UltravioleNt, followed by several live shows. During that period their style has evolved from hardcore-inspired rock to a unique mixture of death, thrash and even some black metal elements, still leaning hard on catchy rhythms.
Year 2017 was a real step forward, as Khiral made their way to Emergenza band competition's Finnish final, thus being able to introduce themselves to larger audiences, made their first appearance abroad in Germany, and on top of all, recorded their first album Chained. Chained represents the band's evolution from almost the first songs to this day. Rock elements of the early days are long gone, but there are still hints of those hardcore-inspired breakdowns and rhythm that were the salt and the pepper right from the beginning.
Strict categorization of the music has been hard even to the members themselves, so let's just call it metal with a twist that you don't necessarily expect.
Listen to the album:-
Joni Öhman - bass,
Matti Hämäläinen - guitars,
Tuomo Vänskä - vocals,
Jouni Tuovinen - guitars,
Markus Lehto - drums

Inspired by artists as diverse as Enslaved, Led Zeppelin, Jethro Tull, Tangerine Dream and Iron Maiden, Unshine is described as ‘Finnish druid and folk metal’ by five friends whom all were raised in the countryside villages of Western Finland.
With a long history of recording and playing behind them, Unshine are super-stoked about the upcoming release of their new album "Astrala" due out January 19, 2018 in Europe and February 9, 2018 in North America via Rockshots Records. The album is inspired by the invisible side of the Earth. The first five album songs address the manifestations of Astrala and the last five songs describe travels to Astrala. The album has a touch of Nordic melancholy written all over it and it includes music meant to create landscapes and themes from folk stories, mythology and nature religions, but also to present personal views describing the spiritual meaning of a forest as a cultural concept. The binding theme here is forest, although this is not a theme album.
As guitarist Harri Hautala says proudly: “Unshine has always been a band without the traditional role models. For us, the most important thing in a song is the melody. Sounds and rhythms create the overall atmosphere, but the melody makes the whole ancient story in it come to life.”
Nature is the true influence on Unshine’s music. Their alpha and omega. Their beginning and end. The modern world may have almost forgotten the ancient ways, but Unshine keep them alive in words and music. Creating songs to reunite the old bonds between the dolmen gods and digitised mankind. Nature is not our enemy, it’s our physical and especially spiritual home.
Exploring these values in their new album "Astrala", Unshine unleash their new video "Visionary's Last Breath".
The band comments:
"On this track, we tell the story of a healer preparing for the journey to Astrala and this requires purification of soul and body. It is fascinating to think that a modern human could also apply these same methods in most of the everyday activities. If it has worked for thousands of years, why did we forget these ways? This quite heavy song is played in low tuning in order to create the right atmosphere."

Svart Records sets March 16th as the international release date for Malady's highly anticipated second album, "Toinen Toista". The album will be released earlier in the band's native Finland on February 2nd.
Malady's eponymous debut album was a deserved underground hit, a beautifully realized piece of original Finnish progressive rock which had its roots dug deeply in the sound of the early '70s. Their second album, "Toinen Toista", goes even deeper.
Composed and arranged as a collaborative piece by the band, "Toinen Toista" has enough detail to keep one captivated for repeated listens. The music is glazed with the kind of home-grown sweetness only vintage Scandinavian prog rock can offer, but its insides are complex, with layer upon layer of things to discover. Comments lyricist Juuso Jylhänlehto, "This album is open to many interpretations and laden with symbolism, but at its core lays the basic questions of being human and the transient nature of things."
Much more is to be expected of Malady in the future. The talented quintet sets upon a number of shows after the album's release in the spring. In the meantime, hear the title track to "Toinen Toista" HERE at Svart's Soundcloud.
