Finnish metal band Rifftera has released a new single called Cutthroat Game. The song is taken from the band's upcoming second album, Across the Acheron, which will be out on January 18, 2019 via Inverse Records.
Janne Hietala (guitar & vocals) states-
"Cutthroat Game is definitely the most melodic Rifftera song that has been released so far. Across the Acheron contains both more brutal and more melodic songs than what we had on our debut, Pitch Black, and Cutthroat Game represents the most straight forward and melodic side. But then again, being Rifftera's "pop song" (like we call it in the band), of course it still contains like ten different kick ass riffs and is over 6 minutes long. Because why not?"

Finnish death metal outfit Festerday have released a music video for the song "Kill Your Truth". The track is taken from the full length debut 'iihtallan', to be released on January 4, 2019 via Season of Mist Underground Activists. The link for the video can be found below and can be freely spread.
Festerday have previously revealed the artwork of their new album. The cover was created by Christophe Moyen and can be viewed below together with the track list.
Following Festerday’s first EP ‘Cadaveric Virginity’ on Season of Mist, comes the bludgeoning debut of these cult death metallers, titled ‘iihtallan’. The album, to be released on January 4th, will ensure that 2019 kicks off with a loud bang for (old school) death metal fans.
Starting out in 1989, Pietarsaari, Finland, Festerday was inspired by early, classic death metal acts and named their band after a song on 'Reek of Putrefaction’ by Carcass.
Early on in their career, the death metal formation released three demos, in truly laconic Finnish style simply entitled 'Demo I' (1991). 'Demo II' (1992), and 'Demo III' (1992) that gained cult status. 'Demo II' was also released on a split with Carnifex. In 1993, the group disbanded.
This could have been the end, but Festerday regrouped in 2013, remastered all their previous material with Sami "Jämy" Jämsen at Studio Perkele in November 2014, and released everything on '...the Four Stages of Decomposition...' (2015). Since then, the Finns have continuously worked on their craft, by releasing various splits, compilations and EP’s.
It may have taken some time for Festerday to realize their debut full length, but now that it’s here, the metal scene is in for something wicked. Merging their old school death metal roots with black metal and punk, the veteran musicians aren’t afraid to push the borders of extreme music and refuse to conform to what is standardized in death metal. Brace yourself for ‘iihtallan’!
Finnish black metal institution Goats of Doom stream the entirety of their highly anticipated fourth album, Rukous, at Decibel magazine's website. Set for international release on December 7th via Primitive Reaction, hear Goats of Doom's Rukous in its entirety exclusively HERE.
Despite a somewhat misleading moniker, Goats of Doom are 100% black metal through and through, and one of the Finnish underground's best-kept secrets. And yet, compared to the filthy recesses of their native contemporaries, Goats of Doom specialize in a sleek and alluringly melodic sort of black metal - no less aggressive, but with the emphasis on mysticism and melody.
Goats of Doom was founded in 2008 by Scaregod and Inasnum. Three full-lengths eventually followed in 2012, 2015, and 2017 with this line-up; in this iteration, the band was more synth-based black metal, but not strictly "symphonic black metal" by definition. Now expanded to a trio, Goats of Doom show a new face on Rukous, where the mysterious atmosphere of old is shot through with more surging aggression and bewitching melody: in essence, a melodic blizzard, if you will. It's characteristically Finnish in its melancholy - melody can never be too saccharine, of course - but burns icy hot with a passion that makes its seven-song/42-minute runtime a nightsky treasure to behold. The theme of Rukous is suitably spirituality, and hereby do Goats of Doom offer myriad ways to worship the dark.
Rounded out by production that finds that perfect balance between grit and gleam, mystery and muscle, Goats of Doom's Rukous presents a unique face to the ever-vibrant Finnish black metal idiom. Hear the whole album exclusively HERE, courtesy of Decibel, North America's only monthly metal magazine.
Finland's melodic death superstars Children Of Bodom are proud to the announce the release of their tenth album, "Hexed", on March 8, 2019 via Nuclear Blast Records. Today, the band reveals the official music video for 'Under Grass And Clover' which can be seen here: https://youtu.be/1gpfzCxiQ-A
COB frontman, guitarist, and mastermind Alexi Laiho comments:-
“'Under Grass and Clover' is the sound of COB on fire and has been my favourite song since it was written. It’s fast, melodic, heavy and dark but also short and sweet. Someone told me that it’s kinda like old school Dimmu Borgir and AWK and that’s pretty damn cool in my books so we must’ve done something right .”
Pre-order your copy of Hexed here: http://nblast.de/COBHexed
"Hexed" saw the return to Finland’s Danger Johnny Studios where they were reunited with Mikko Karmila (I Worship Chaos, Halo Of Blood, Hatebreeder, Follow the Reaper & Hate Crew Deathroll) who recorded everything except keyboards and also produced the album with the band. Janne Wirman recorded keyboards at Beyond Abilities Studios. The album was mixed and mastered at Finnvox Studios in Helsinki, Finland.
For this album, the band enlisted Deins Forkas to create the album artwork. Bassist Henkka Blacksmith commented on the cover:-
“For some years already I have wanted to try a different approach with our cover art. We are so used to digital art so that is really hard to do something else. Doing it all the way with computer is somewhat safe and convenient. This time we all agreed to try it old school. We found this cool dude and gave him simple instructions. The cover has to be purple and the reaper has to be central. Half a year later we got his work, and with little tweaking, we have the cover of Hexed. It is very different from what we are used to, even the Reaper looks different, but at the same time very spooky.“
Stay tuned for more information about the album as well as announcements about the band's upcoming US tour in the spring and European trek in the summer!
Finnish modern metal act Kneel Before The Death has released a new single and music video Miserere Mei.
Watch the music video: https://youtu.be/RKByp6dUWP0
Listen the single:
The band describe their music as modern metal with black atmosphere. The band was founded in 2013 by guitarist Niko Lappalainen and drummer Konsta Vihavainen. Later that year singer Aatu Kovanen and bass player Joonas Peltonen joined the band. Kneel Before The Death has released two EPs; The First Chapter (2014) and Life/Death (2016). In addition to these, the band has also one single release, The Bloodline (2015). Finnish new metal community has given a warm welcome for the band's music.
During couple years of silence Kneel Before The Death has been absorbing ideas for their new sound and for the new material. You might be able to hear influences taken from symphonic black metal to 80's synthwave.
The band backgrounds the latest release:
"Miserere Mei was written during the past couple of years of the band's silence. We wanted to create something new and interesting that we have been looking for around the metal music in Finnish and worldwide. We had a vision of huge musical atmosphere, which would have the modern sound we were looking for, but which still respects the old school metal music. Lyrics of the song talk about controversial, but very everyday topics, such as addiction, self-hatred, religion and forgiveness. The final touch what the song needed was added in the mixing process by Fredrik Nordström (Dimmu Borgir, Opeth, At The Gates)."
Kneel Before The Death has returned to the stages and is ready to release new material. The band's new single, Miserere Mei, is a foretaste of the coming.
Finnish melodic death thrashers Rifftera will release their new album 'Across the Acheron' on January 18th 2019 via Inverse Records. The album follows band's debut, Pitch Black, which was released on 2015.
Rifftera's guitarist and harsh vocalist Janne Hietala comments:-
"It took a lot longer than expected, but now Across the Acheron is finally ready to be released. The aim was basically to take steps forward from our debut in every aspect and we are really happy with the result. In my honest and not at all biased opinion I think that clear improvement was achieved musically, lyrically and production-wise."
"When it comes to comparing the music between Across the Acheron and Pitch Black, I would say that our expression has reached new levels on both ends of the spectrum; some parts on the new album are more brutal than anything that what we had on Pitch Black and then again some songs are more straight forward and melodic than before. Overall it could be described that the building blocks are the same but writing and performing skills have evolved."
Band encountered one lineup change after the previous release, or actually a lineup addition, since the drums of the first album were played by a session drummer: "This is the first appearance of our new drummer Ville Härkönen and you'll hear that he sure like's to keep himself busy behind the kit."

Finnish black metal mavericks Sacrificium Carmen stream the entirety of their highly anticipated second album, Hermetica, at heavily trafficked web-portal IndyMetalVault.com. If the band's critically acclaimed Ikuisen Tulen Kammiossa debut displayed the band as a serious contender to be reckoned with in years to come, then the follow-up Hermetica shall prove that Sacrificium Carmen are ready to be spoken of amongst esteemed countrymen like Horna, Baptism, Sargeist, Kadotus, and Behexen. Set for international release on November 16th via Saturnal Records, hear Sacrificium Carmen's Hermetica in its entirety exclusively HERE.
Hailing from the ever-fertile Finnish black metal scene, Sacrificium Carmen both embody their home country's prevailing underground idiom and offer a unique, diabolical twist to it. Founded in 2009 by vocalist Hoath Cambion and guitarist Advorsvs, the band draws their inspiration from the areas of occultism and Satanism exclusively. Sacrificium Carmen became active in 2012 with a full line-up, and soon released their debut demo, Sanansaattaja, in 2013 via Finnish underground label Spread Evil Productions. After the demo’s release, the band excelled in the areas of live shows and split releases, which all spread well around the underground scene. In 2014, Sacrificium Carmen started working on a debut full-length album, and the demo recordings led into a signing of a record deal with Saturnal Records for the debut album Ikuisen Tulen Kammiossa.
Following its release during the autumn of 2015, Ikuisen Tulen Kammiossa reaped widespread acclaim, and opinion was nearly unanimous: Sacrificium Carmen was a definite contender. Now, the band has further intensified and refined their sound with LP#2, Hermetica. Here you will find the same approach black metal with a melodic and atmospheric touch where all tendencies have been directed into very aggressive and sinister output, where Finnish black metal sound meets murky death metal sound as witnessed with orthodox black metal acts - but more vibrantly expressed, suggestive of the band's onstage confidence. Like its full-length predecessor, Hermetica presents eight equally dynamic tracks, dragging the listener to the sulphurous depths, with characteristic vapour trails of hypnotizing melody lingering above the tar-thick sewage. One could even say Sacrificium Carmen are more "rocking" here, and even more melodic simultaneously - but let it be known that the band are still exquisitely filthy and exceptionally well-recorded.
The more things change, the more they stay the same, or so the saying goes. Sacrificium Carmen keep the fires of Finnish black metal burning and hold high the torch with Hermetica! Feel the full burn exclusively HERE, courtesy of IndyMetalVault.com.
Finland's Black Light Discipline release official cover music video of Alan Walker's hit single "Faded"

"Alan Walker's Faded has given so strong vibes right from the beginning that we wanted to cover it even thought it was quite a challenge not to ruin its original beauty. But in the end we are really excited about this version". - Toni BLD
Black Light Discipline (BLD) is a genre-breaking band combining electro, metal, and dance elements, creating their own unique yet raw sound. This Finnish band is known for their energetic live-shows which bring people from different musical genres together for a party. The latest single from Finnish group Memoremains “Turn” is now available as of October 31, 2018. With a highlight on keyboard elements, it’s a hybrid of progressive metal with a touch of a synth pop feeling. It is heavy yet soothing; dark, yet dancy.
Mixing heavy symphonic metal, disco and pop elements, in the two years since their conception, Memoremains have created a recognizable sound that stands apart from similar artists in the genre. The solid balance between the vocals and instruments form a multilayered approach that enhances the various melodies and compliments the deeper complexities of the track. The band's music video in support of the single is a juxtaposition of an epic and fun chorus set against a hopeless backdrop illustrating the desperation in their lyrics. Expanding on those lyrics, vocalist Johanna explains:
“They come from everyday situations combined to a profound theme. It’s hard to say one thing, but when I start to write, I usually get the idea from discussions with other people. As well the idea can pop up from the news. When I begin to write, the structure of the song is normally ready, so, the ambiance of the music can also inspire.”
The single was produced and mixed by Atte O. Pohjonen; mastered by Samu Oittinen with the artwork and music video done by Riku-Pekka Lappalainen. With an EP under their belts, along with several singles, Memoremains is a band to watch for as they are currently delving into touring plans and creating more music.
