When writing about 'A New Kind Of Horror' in the record's liner notes, Anaal Nathrakh vocalist Dave Hunt is succinct in his description:-
"This is not a happy album, it is bitter, vengeful, sarcastic, sardonic, violent, terrified and horrified, terrifying and horrifying in equal measure. Above all, it is human, and all that that entails. It's as sincere as we could make it." Those exposed to the ten tracks comprising the band's tenth full-length will be unable to deny the truth to these words, for lyrically, musically and sonically it is a punishing listen mired in darkness and seething with raw emotion.
With multi-instrumentalist Mick Kenney pushing their distinctive hybrid of symphonic black metal, death metal, industrial and grindcore ever forward, Hunt draws lyrical inspiration primarily from the horrors of the First World War, contemporary politics, and the letters of D.H. Lawrence, creating one of the most powerful, timely and unique releases of 2018. "There's a lot that goes into our albums, of course, but it all comes about as a natural result of who we are, and for 'A New Kind of Horror' we felt early on that it was clearly its own thing. It doesn't have to stand in comparison with anything, because to us it's in a class of its own."

Long running Polish grind/crust band Means Of Control have just signed a deal with Selfmadegod Records to release their second full length!
The newest album includes 13 songs of fierce grindcore influenced by classic bands of the genre like early Napalm Death, Terrorizer, Defecation, Righteous Pigs.
“Cena zbawienia” was recorded sometime in 2017 in several studio locations like Sound Division Studio, Noise Art Studio and Komoda Studio while Arkadiusz "Malta" Malczewski (Behemoth, Azarath, Decapitated) mixed and mastered entire material.
“Cena zbawienia” is now available on CD and digital download through Selfmadegod Records. You can listen to “Robactwo” song at the label’s SoundCloud profile or YouTube channel.
Means Of Control started back in 1992 in Radom, Poland playing crustpunk with some grind parts influenced by Concrete Sox, Heresy, Doom, Righteous Pigs, Defecation, Assuck. After 20 years of activity the band released their debut full length. Several years later with some new members and more grindcore sound the quintet recorded second one entitled “Cena zbawienia”.
Sweden's Axis Of Despair premiere "Lockdown" via Metal Injection; debut album "Contempt For Man Debut" out soon
Metal Injection is hosting a premiere of "Lockdown," the new single by Swedish grindcore kingpins Axis Of Despair. The band - formed by current and former members of Nasum, Coldworker, Infanticide, Volturyon, Livet Som Insats, Nervgift, Overtorture, and more - is preparing for their Contempt For Man debut full-length to see release through Southern Lord at the end of July.
Contempt For Man dispatches twenty super-charged tracks of Axis Of Despair's brutalizing but hook-laden grindcore attack. The album surges with blasting percussion delivered with savage force, yet every hit finding its target with pinpoint accuracy. The blazing riffs leave charred scars in their path, while lyrically the band unloads their noncompliance with humanity's declining ways.
Of "Lockdown" the band offers:-
"While the title is a nod to fellow grinders Lock-Up, the music centres around an idea of doing a chorus riff with clear notes that moves around, thus creating a hook that makes 'Lockdown' stand out on the album. This is a quite good slice of Axis Of Despair's type of grindcore: while 'Lockdown' has its share of drive and aggression, it also has catchiness and a certain groove that we really like."
Experience Axis Of Despair's "Lockdown" at Metal Injection RIGHT HERE.
Contempt For Man was recorded by drummer Anders Jakobson at Soundlab Studios and in the band's rehearsal room Summer 2017, mixed at Studio Ülgnor by Johan Berglund, and is completed with artwork by Paul Romano (Mastodon, Circle, Hate Eternal).
Southern Lord will release Contempt For Man on LP, CD, and digital formats July 27th; find pre-orders at the label webshop HERE and at Bandcamp where the tracks "A Life Of Ceaseless Grind," "Crush The Empire," and "The Wolven Law" are streaming HERE.
Axis Of Despair will perform at Obscene Extreme 2018 in Czech Republic on July 19th with more live actions to follow. Watch for additional tour dates, audio samples, and further album updates in the weeks ahead.
Axis Of Despair was formed in late 2013 by former Coldworker members Joel Fornbrant (vocals), Oskar Pålsson (bass), and Anders Jakobson (drums). The lineup was completed by guitarist Kristofer Jankarls (also in Livet Som Insats) a few months later and the quartet focused on songwriting. The first recording took place in the spring of 2015 and the twelve tracks were released on the two 7" EPs -- Time And Again, released via Selfmadegod Records, and Mankind Crawls, a co-release through Give Praise Records and Spela Snabbare Records. Following both EPs and several live shows, Axis Of Despair set to work on new material, striving to create a striking grindcore album with an aggressive, yet diverse selection of strong songs. The writing process was spread out over a year until the band went into the studio and begun the recordings in the summer of 2017, now set to arrive in the form of their debut album, Contempt For Man.

Portuguese grind metal band AXIA have teamed up with Decibel Magazine to stream their new song "Fading Into Nothing." The song is taken from their aptly named new album Pulverizer which will be released on April 27th via Selfmadegod.

AXIA was crafted by four seasoned musicians known for their work in The Ominous Circle, Holocausto, Canibal, Heavenwood and Colosso among others; vocalist Alex Vale is joined by guitarist Max Tome, with bassist Ze Pedro and drummer Marcelo Aires rounding out the rhythm section. This new project builds on their collective experience to create an opus that is even more negative and hopeless than their previous respective outputs.
Mastered by Peter In de Betou (Arch Enemy, Amon Amarth, Meshuggah, Hypocrisy), Pulverizer attests to AXIA's harsh determination. Called "a furiously paced representation of a highly mechanized war zone" by No Clean Singing, this album is sure to make a grim mark on all who hear it.
Alex Vale – Vocals
Max Tome – Guitar
Ze Pedro – Bass
Marcelo Aires – Drums
All music by Max Tome and Alex Vale.
