In November of 2015, the Iranian metal duo, Nikan "Siyanor" Khosravi and Arash "Chemical" Ilkhani, were arrested in November of 2015 by the Army of the Guardians of the Islamic Revolution and had some serious charges levied against them: blasphemy, advertising against the system, running an illegal and underground band and record label promoting music considered to be Satanic, writing anti-religious lyrics and granting interviews to forbidden foreign radio stations. At the time, we reported the band faced a maximum penalty of six years in prison, or worse, execution. Very little was public about the case at the time.
Today, Metal Injection published an interview with Nikan "Siyanor" Khosravi, offering his first public comments since the arrest.
Nikan offers an update on the trial, discusses how he discovered metal and reveals words of encouragement he's gotten from the likes of Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor, Arch Enemy's Alissa White-Gluz and even Eminem.

Wearing their influences on their sleeves, quite literally, patched denim and all things NWOBHM is their art, they are the purveyors of traditional heavy metal. Belfast heavy metal trio Rabid Bitch Of The North have announced they will release their debut full length album, Nothing But a Bitter Taste, this August via Hostile Media. "Nothing But a Bitter Taste has essentially been several years in the making. For the first time in over 10 years of performing live we had to find time to take off, go to our studio, and do this album justice," comments band frontman Joe McDonnell. "Nothing But A Bitter Taste, is a concrete slab of that classic British sounding metal. It's something straight off a NWOBHM compilation cassette. A varied spectrum of styles and tempos, and each track has its own story. It is heavy metal with rock n roll, but it is definitely progressive sounding from the previous EP and singles we've released."
The album was recorded by guitarist Gerard Mulholland, as with all their previous releases. "Gerrys production has been a learn as you work approach. Using his skills built up from years of making our demos and singles," Joe adds regarding the recording process. "What we wanted to achieve was a record that captured our unique character, as well sounding like a record that we would listen to. We wanted it to sound like the metal we like, which is anything from the golden era of heavy metal. Maybe a few Judas Priest records were points of reference at times, but the album was never based on one particular sound."
As well as announcing details of the album the band have also released the first single, a track entitled 'The Missionary', and a song which purpose was to try and harness the bizarre excitement and feeling heavy metal fans first experience on finding the genre, seeing the first album covers of Maiden's Eddie or the devilish artwork depicted on Ozzy and Dio records. "It's a song about the journey of discovering metal, searching out new bands and sounds, and then becoming part of the scene creating your own songs."

The first single of the Heavy Metal Band Skinflint from Botswana - "Chief Of The Ghosts" was released on Soundcloud. The release date of the Skinflint album "Chief Of the Ghosts“ on CD is July 7th, 2017. The pre-order phase will start on June 23th, 2017 in our webshop.
Skinflint from Botswana, a country that is not well known for traditional Metal or Rock in general, already can be considered to one of the old guards on our label. Very rightly, albums like"Iklwa“ (2010) and "Dipoko“ (2012) are small classics nowadays in the underground. A perfect combination between traditional Heavy/Epic Metal and decent African folk music.
The trio around Giuseppe "Juice“ Sbrana continues with their old tradition also on the fifth long player "Chief Of The Ghosts“. Rough and simple, yet with much sensitivity for the decent exotic touch, there are nine new songs, again partly sung in their native language Setswana.
Those who already love the predecessors won’t be disappointed with "Chief Of The Ghosts“ at all.

Finnish rock metallers Zarthas has signed a worldwide deal with WormHoleDeath for the release of their third album "Reflections".
The band stated:
"Scouting for labels started already before the recordings, and WormHoleDeath was one of the first labels we sent our promotion to. In time, WormHoleDeath was also recommended by European promotion agencies, and we got convinced that we are now dealing with a label that is not only independent, down to earth, and artist-friendly, but has also grown to be quite a big player in the fields of international music business. As negotiations went on, pieces started to fall in place pretty quickly. We honestly believe that this is the beginning of solid co-operation, that suites the interests of both parties.
Zarthas has received lot of feedback that we need to get our music to European markets, so clearly WormHoleDeath became our number one target as a label to co-operate with. "Reflections" was not an easy album to record. Our studio gear started to fall apart piece by piece right from the beginning. All and all recording and mixing process went on one step forward and two steps back because of that. So after bunch of misfortune, we were extremely happy to hear that WormHoleDeath liked the stuff, and wanted to release it. It feels like all the hard work and countless hours are finally paying off, and that feels really good. Whole band is very excited and happy for this opportunity."

Last week Irish metalheads, Stormzone were shooting a new music video for a track from their latest album, "Seven Sins". Acclaimed director Alex Perisson, responsible for many award winning videos from Europe's top metal bands, had signed up to direct the video, in a concept that involved recording footage in a disused asylum, against the advice of local experts.
As far as we can ascertain, the band and entire production crew encountered some kind of problem during the shoot. We have not been able to contact anyone involved since the date of filming. The attached news report contains footage found at the scene, which some viewers might find distressing.
Anyone with information about the whereabouts of the band or crew should get in touch immediately.
First Tygers Of Pan Tang, then Blitzkrieg and now NWOBHM legends Trespass sign to Mighty Music, with a new studio album out in late 2017.
Trespass was formed in Sudbury, Suffolk, England in April 1979 by brothers Mark (guitar, vocals) and Paul Sutcliffe (drums) Dave Crawte (guitar) Richard Penny (bass). Around this time they started gigging around East Anglia, playing a mix of rock covers and original songs including early versions of "One Of These Days" and Lightsmith.
Despite their fairly short lived time on the metal scene Trespass made a lasting impact.
Lars Ulrich and James Hetfield of Metallica remained fans since the very beginning and "One Of These Days" was featured on NWOBHM compilation '79 revisited put together by Ulrich and Geoff Barton in 1990
Trespass have recently played festivals in the UK and Europe in 2015/16 and will be touring in 2018 supporting the album.
