North Wales Metalcore Quintet Rosen Bridge have revealed details of their forthcoming sophomore EP ‘Dreamcatcher’. Set for self-release on 12th May, vocalist Antony Jones states: “It’s about overcoming obstacles and chasing what your goals are. The artwork represents the journeys that people can take within their own thoughts, without looking like a self-help book cover.” As an insight into the four tracker, the band are also streaming the title track here, with Jones explaining: “We decided to lead with Dreamcatcher as it’s the best representation of the EP as a whole. Lyrically, it focuses on making changes to your life and bettering yourself, whilst the music has pretty much all of the elements of the EP: heavy riffs, vocal hooks, solos and a breakdown for good measure.”
Rosen Bridge, completed by Eddie Edwards and Marcus Williams on Guitar, Rowan Jack on Drums and William Roberts on Bass duties, are named after a synonym for worm holes. As a somewhat tongue-in-cheek reference, they class themselves as ‘spiritually driven metal’, which ultimately boils down to wanting to spread a message of positivity, something often not found in heavy music. “Our music is heavily influenced by our experiences in battling mental health issues. We want to motivate people to talk to us and each other and share their own experiences. We want people to be inspired to move against their pain and be the best person that they can be. We have all had experiences with living through highs and lows and the music that has inspired us in these times is the music that motivates us to change for the better,” comments Jones.
For ‘Dreamcatcher’, the follow-up to debut ‘Entropy’, the band set out to create a record that would “make people feel great”. Laying down the release with John Mitchell at Outhouse Studios, the members slept in one van and commuted to the studio each day, ready to work hard. Thankfully they are pleased with the product: “The new release tries to focus more on keeping a consistent groove, with the soulful vocal hooks from the first EP. We still kept some more complex sections, but really wanted to develop our style to have a more varied sound with heavy and lighter moments. We hope that this material will yield more live 'sing-a-long' chorus moments mixed in with the big, heavy riffs as well.” If you like Issues, Volumes & Northlane, then we are positive Rosen Bridge are for you - and you should catch them on the road this May:

Romanian Melodic Death Metal combo False Reality announces a line-up modification, after Marc Spedalska, the bass player who only performed in three live gigs, decided to quit the band, after being admitted as a resident neurologist medic in the city of Cluj-Napoca, thus pursuing his medical career.
His replacement is a young bass player from Brasov, the band’s home city, Radu “Snuff” Constantinescu, who was active in the bands Consequence and Around the World and who has other two active projects: Arrest The Moment and My Backyard Telescope. He already performed in two live shows with False Reality during the first two concerts in the End of Eternity album promotion tour that started in January this year.
False Reality will continue their Romanian tour with their new bass player, announcing four more shows for now, in March, in the following cities:
Avenged Sevenfold are set to return to the UK for their biggest tour yet. Their previously announced 10 date UK tour in January 2017 includes 2 nights at London’s 02 Arena. Tickets are priced £45 / £37.50 regionally and £45 / £37.50 / £30 for London via www.livenation.co.uk and www.ticketmaster.co.uk.
The band’s last visit was in 2013 for a sold out arena tour plus an awe inspiring headline slot at Download Festival in June 2014 which cemented their unshakable reputation for breath-taking live performances.
Avenged Sevenfold recently played a groundbreaking live 360 Virtual Reality gig on the roof of Capitol Records in LA after which they surprised fans with the announcement that their new album ‘The Stage’ – their first for Capitol Records - would be available that night. Previously they had made headlines with the release of the title track, co-produced by the band and Joe Barresi (Queens of the Stone Age, Tool) AND a companion video directed by Chris Hopewell (Radiohead, The Killers). The latter has already amassed well over TEN million YouTube views – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fBYVlFXsEME
The Stage is a work of immense scope and ambition, featuring 11 panoramic tracks tied together by an Artificial Intelligence theme. Inspired by the writings of Carl Sagan and Elon Musk, the album is the band’s first thematic release. While the term “AI” conjures up images of robots and fantasy films, the band steers clear of a science fiction storyline. Instead, the album sees them taking a futurist’s look at the accelerated rate at which technology’s intelligence is expanding and what that means—good and bad—for the future.
The album’s epic 15-minute-plus closing track, “Exist,” features a guest appearance by award-winning astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson giving a spoken word performance he penned specifically for the album.

Norwegian black metal icons Mayhem are celebrating the release of their 1994 landmark De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas full-length with tours across the globe. This coming January, the band will march their way across North America performing the record in its monumental entirety.
In conjunction with their many live appearances, Mayhem will also release De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas Alive on December 15th, 2016. The album was captured live in Norrköping, Sweden last year during the band's headlining set at the Black Christmass Festival. The show marked Mayhem's first time ever playing De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas in full.
Notes the band of first single "From The Dark Past," "'From The Dark Past' has not been played many times live before, yet is in many ways an archetypical song from the band, containing key elements that are scattered throughout the rest of the album - blizzard blast beats and eerie atmospherics, all of course adorned by vocalist Attila Csihar's unique voice within the genre. De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas is widely considered one of the most influential black metal albums of all time, and this is the first time in history this classic album from 1994 is performed live in its entirety."

'Y Proffwyd Dwyll’ the second album from Welsh doom crew Mammoth Weed Wizard Bastard was released earlier this year just 9 months after their debut ‘Noeth Ac Anoeth. Once again produced by Chris (Conan) Fielding, it was without doubt a whopping great slab of heaviness. Those who’ve investigated beyond the name, have already discovered that both the band and their music are deadly serious, and though MWWB may share sonic alliances with likes of Conan, Windhand and Yob, the many who tuned into their debut have discovered that MWWB don’t stick to the usual tropes, and are a unique proposition, with a sound all their own. The guitars are down-tuned to ‘Z,’ the guitar tone is tar thick and the riffs massive and full of hooks ... of course.
But with the soaring, angelic, multi textured vocals of Jessica Ball, MWWB have added an extra dimension to what’s considered doom. Not your normal melodramatic dark chanteuse here pilgrims, more like MWWB’s secret weapon, a vein of crystal in the rock. In fact it’s a combination, which sounds both startling and often beautiful. Like if Liz Fraser had fronted Kyuss or Sleep ... though that’s too simplistic a comparison.
Now the band are set to tour the UK in February 2017 with fellow expansive doom enthusiasts OHHMS.

Avatar have unleashed another visually stunning music video with long time director Johan Carlén at the helm, for their next single 'Night Never Ending' take of their latest album 'Feathers & Flesh' out now via Another Century.
Check it out here: http://vevo.ly/Iaab7V
"It's is a special song, being probably the most upbeat and, dare I say, happy piece we've ever released" says frontman Johannes Eckerström. "But under the surface of the fragile message of hope and fighting spirit it is little more than a prelude to a tragedy and that is what we set out to capture when we decided to make a video for it".
"It is very close to my heart for being the one video where there is no "rocking out" going on and we get to capture a side of Avatar that is just as integral as the good, headbanging times we love sharing with our supporters all around the world. There are few things in this world as beautiful and fascinating as contrasts and this is what all of Feathers & Flesh is all about. Hope and tragedy".
The new video drops just a few months after the band debuted 'The Eagle Has Landed' video, also directed by Carlén, the first official music video from the band's most recent LP.
With past buzzworthy videos like 'Bloody Angel' and 'Hail The Apocalypse', Avatar continues to raise the bar for what bands are doing visually in the current state of hard rock and metal.
The aim is set higher, further and deeper than ever before for AVATAR. Not only is this first concept album their most extensive work to date, showing the widest range of any of their albums, it also contains a story too extensive for any booklet, so they made a book. A fully illustrated 60 page, 109 verse poem hard-cover book.
The band will hit the road in November & December presenting their groundbreaking album “Feathers & Flesh” on a European headline run this Autumn:

AMARANTHE - MAXIMALISM TRACK LISTING
3. That Song
5. On the Rocks
9. Break Down and Cry
"The time has come to unveil 'That Song' to the world," said guitarist Olof Morck. "Showcasing a new side of Amaranthe, the song combines an anthemic arena riff with an irresistibly groovy flow, creating maybe the most unique Amaranthe track yet! Describing the strife and hardships that follow with trying to pursue your dreams, 'That Song' embodies the turning point in your life when your direction becomes clear. So stomp your feet and clap your hands to 'That Song'!"
Maximalism is the follow-up to 2014's breakthrough Massive Addictive.
Refusing to be pinned down by genre or convention, Amaranthe have consistently pursued the less-travelled path, blending different sounds and styles to create a signature hybrid approach. Maximalism sees their collective wide-angle vision laid out with greater skill and conviction than ever before.
The European tour begins on 25.Oct.
Belgium's Oathbreaker are preparing for the release of their most groundbreaking album to date (Rheia, out September 30th on Deathwish Inc.). This record features the most honest, fragile and self-reflective lyrics that the band has written thus far in its 8+ year long career. Oathbreaker have premiered another new song off of the album - listen to “Immortals” now on Stereogum.
Oathbreaker formed in 2008 and released their debut full-length Maelstrom in 2011, which was followed by the critically-acclaimed Eros Anteros full-length in 2013. On Rheia, which was engineered, mixed, and mastered by Jack Shirley (Deafheaven, Loma Prieta), Oathbreaker have truly hit their stride and carve a new path for their blackened/post-metal sound. Rheia is a deeply personal album that showcases the artistic strength that vulnerability brings.
See Oathbreaker on tour in North America from September 28th through October 30th with Skeletonwitch and Iron Reagan. More news coming soon.
