MaterDea is one of the most known and recognizable metal bands in Italy coming out of the pagan and Celtic scene. It has been 2 years since their last release, a full length entitled “The Goddess’ Chants” and they are ready to indulge their listeners in a new fascinating and enthralling journey with “Pyaneta”.
Following the direction started with “A Rose for Egeria”, this new record is a further step forward into the melding of metal and Celtic music, in the personal style that MaterDea’s fans will acknowledge and love once more. It is a powerful symphony where all the instruments and the voices join the sounds of nature, painting new grandiose landscapes enriched by colours and sophisticated arrangements. The melodies reveal themselves along with the sumptuous guitar riffs, a powerful rhythmic session and the twist of strings and orchestration, allowing the listener to be carried away in a dimension full of energy, beauty and hope by these magical tales.
The band describes “Pyaneta”:-
“In this new album the stories are inspired by the deep interconnection that exists between every living thing and the largest sentient organism that hosts us, our planet Earth. It is an exhortation to the awareness of the environmental danger, a cry of hope for its future and a message of love for life in its gorgeous wholeness.”
MaterDea goes to great lengths to ensure that their listeners can be thrust away from reality and thrown into a fantastical world full of enchantment and magic and “Pyaneta”, their fifth album promises to do just that. Citing influences such as Genesis, Jethro Tull and Led Zeppelin, the band creates a gentle yet powerful type of metal with various classical overtones. With a desire to create powerful, intense, emotional music that features pantheistic themes the 7 classically trained Italian musicians paint a rich fantasy world for their listeners. To date they have released four full lengths, “Below the Mists, Above the Brambles” (2009), “Satyricon” (2011), “A Rose for Egeria” (2014) and “The Goddess’ Chants” (2016).
“Pyaneta” is set to be released via Rockshots Records in Europe on June 8 and in North America on July 6. There is currently a crowdfund set up for fans who wish to support the album by pre ordering or donating.

Nordic symphonic metal masters Midnattsol have just released the official lyric video for the title track of their upcoming new album “The Aftermath” which will be released on May 25th via Napalm Records.
Midnattsol now has true full sister power featuring Liv Kristine and Carmen Elise! The name "Espenæs“ rightfully makes a lot of people swoon – as both sisters have been a vital part of a magnitude of gothic / symphonic / folk metal milestones. Until this point a supergroup involving both sisters sharing microphone duties was only the stuff only dreams were made of. Now it is a reality!
The band comments on the track:
“As a huge thank you for waiting for us all these years, here is another song for you before the release of our new album! It contains a message that we want to reach out with; What do you think it is?”
“The Aftermath” relies much more heavily on folk influences lending atmospheric density to the melancholic symphonic metal compositions. A sumptuous and sensual affair and a shimmering highlight in the discography of this German / Norwegian team! Enjoy the brand new video HERE!
Gone By Sundown originally formed in 2013 by Tonie Rombin and Tomas Pedersen. The idea was to mix styles and inspiration from many different bands among Mustach, Motörhead and newer metal. The band soon recorded its debut single A Wise Mans Linger along with their debut video but shortly after, the members ran into internal problems and the band was put on ice. In early 2017, the project was re-started by Tonie Rombin and after extensive searching a new line-up was ready to write and perform.
The first new track written by the new Gone By Sundown was Will You Remember and was quickly followed by a batch of new material and the re-working of some old numbers to suit the new line-up. During September and October 2017, the single and accompanying video was recorded and at the end of December 2017, Will You Remember (mixed by talented Brazilian underground producer Marcos Cerutti) was ready for release. The track was mastered by Swedish legendary producer Ronnie Björnström, known for working with heavy acts like Meshuggah, Nagelfar, any many more!
Gone By Sundown are now preparing the release of their new EP The Endless Path in May via Sliptrick Records.
the EP offers epic harmonies, female operatic soprano voice and heavenly tranquil atmosphere to describe it best!

Asphodelia is a dark symphonic metal act founded in 2016 in Foggia, Italy, by Samuela “Samah” Fuiani (vocals and keyboards) and Ruggero “Lordian” Doronzo (guitar), and currently including Davide Ricciardi (bass), Giuseppe Centonza (drums) and Gianni Colonna (guitar). Their sound blends symphonic and choral sonorities, electronics and Mediterranean echoes into a solid metal frame with a strongly dark mood. Their lyrics are usually centred on the theme of the afterlife, on the life and death dichotomy, the fleetingness of time and the misery of the human condition.
The band is named after the asphodel, typical Mediterranean flower connected to the ancient Greek Underworld: in the ancient Greek mythology, the Asphodel Meadows is a place where the indifferent souls, who lived a life of neither good or evil, are sent to live after death. The band released a promo EP entitled ’Vengeance' on May 26, 2016, receiving enthusiastic response from their fan-base.
In May 2017 they signed a management and booking deal with The Flaming Arts Agency, leading to important stage experiences such as the Female Metal Voices Tour Russia 2017 as main support to The Agonist, Sirenia and Cellar Darling. Recently, Asphodelia have recorded their debut album "Welcome Apocalypse" and signed to Denmark's Mighty Music. The band are currently about to perform on an European tour with more shows to come, in support of the album release.
Truth is free from labels and categories. What lies beyond has no boundaries. Welcome to the place in the Underworld where boundaries fall apart. Welcome to the Asphodel Meadows.
The long awaited album of Asphodelia will be released on April 20th 2018, with gigs starting even before the release.
Asphodelia already have these dates confirmed - and more to come:
31.03 “The Carlisle" - Hastings, UK
01.04 “The Quinphonic Festival” - Birmingham, UK
02.04 “The Musician” - Leicester, UK

The Sacramento-based quintet Graveshadow – who deftly mix symphonic/gothic metal with elements of doom, thrash and epic progressive power metal – have released a riveting new track from their forthcoming M-Theory Audio debut, Ambition's Price, due out April 13. The song “Doorway To Heaven” can be heard at this location: https://youtu.be/2Ea3AS9H-yQ
Says vocalist Heather Michele, “When the music for the song was completed, it brought to me feelings of adventure and mysticism. I was reminded of the film "Stargate" from the '90s and based the lyrics off of that. The odd yet compelling combination of ancient Egyptian imagery with a sci-fi twist has been a favourite of mine for years. It was only a matter of time before we included this tale in our catalogue.”
“Doorway To Heaven” – which is also now available digitally for stream or download at iTunes, Spotify, Bandcamp and other platforms – marks the second advance taste of Ambition's Price. Last month, the group released a lyric video for the new song “Widow and the Raven,” which can be seen at this location - https://youtu.be/sjGsEINzJys A music video for a third song was filmed last week and will premiere closer to the album's release.
Graveshadow will perform the new songs live next month when they hit the road for a string of West Coast dates with the Norwegian gothic metal act Sirenia and Canada’s Threat Signal. The group, who just played a successful show in their native Sacramento alongside Iced Earth, has also announced a home-town acoustic performance at Dimple Records (Arden Way location) on Record Store Day, April 21. A local record-release show will take place later that night at The Boardwalk.
Ambition's Price is available now for pre-order via the M-Theory Audio webshop (www.m-
theoryaudio.com/store). The stunning and detailed cover art was created by Serbian fantasy graphic designer Dusan Markovic (Jag Panzer, Seven Kingdoms, Mystic Prophecy), while the album was produced and mixed by Armand John Anthony (Night Demon, The Fucking Wrath, Gygax), and mastered by Colin Davis at Imperial Mastering (Deeds of Flesh, Decrepit Birth, Origin).
“The album title and artwork were directly inspired by events that occurred within Graveshadow over the past few years,” explains the band. “With all the incredible experiences that have come with the evolution of our musical family, a great deal of sacrifice has been given by every member of the band in the pursuit of our dreams. Though the price of our ambition still weighs heavy in our hearts, we are proud of what we have accomplished with this album and are excited by what the future may hold.”
“Ambition’s Price” – the follow-up to the group's 2015 debut, Nocturnal Resurrection – features Michele’s powerful vocals that range from operatic highs to unearthly growls backed by crushing guitars, beautiful keyboard melodies, thundering bass, and earth-shattering drums creating a rich and dynamic atmosphere that is ripe for storytelling. Whether it is a tale of personal struggle or of fantastical creatures, the listener is sure to find themselves immersed in a world apart.
Having previously toured with the likes of Arkona, Anvil, Night Demon and Unleash The Archers, Gravesgadow is poised and ready to leave a lasting impact within the metal community. With an electrifying stage show and a sound as large as the Dragons of Westeros, they are as talented as they are unforgettable.

The new album from Moldovan group Francis is entitled A Million Years Of Loneliness and highlights many urgent and serious problems of our time; personal, social, political and global, with acute social issues coming to the forefront. The themes of the eternal struggle for the right to “live in the sun”, for the right to be the first, for the right to reach the most difficult and daring dreams don’t leave the listener throughout the entire track list.
On a musical side, the material is a mixture of extreme metal and a more melodic direction of modern metal music, as well as interspersed with symphonic and electronic arrangements. The melodic sound came from the influence of bands working in completely different genres: As I Lay Dying, Arch Enemy, Nightwish, etc. Aggressive couplets and breakdowns with melodic choruses are created in the style of Metalcore/Melodic Death and coexist with thrash, death and modern-metal elements. The vocal parts are represented by a combination of extreme vocals with a clean voice, which expanded the creative space for the music’s authors and gave the tracks a striking motif matched by a clear, bright voice. Thus, the recording involved two vocalists.
The composition of the texts on A Million Years Of Loneliness involved the whole group agreeing on different opinions in a single concept for each individual song. The special uniqueness of the texts of the album consist of describing the atmosphere of the problems of each topic. Francis offer the listener not only a specific social, philosophical or personal problem, as food for thought, but also an interpretation of their own emotional feelings of a certain situation, thereby motivating the listener to intuitively comprehend the composition.
Guitar parts were recorded in home studios. Mixing and mastering services, as well as aid in the arrangements, was provided by the studio MoonHome after a long search for the optimal sound of all instruments.
