Finland's My Reflection showcases the story of Finland, it's nature and history through their new video "Homeland"
The story of Finland, nature and history - My Reflection offers a showcase to Finnish metal with an atmospheric video "Homeland"
Finland is known for its thousands of lakes and major metal bands such as Stratovarius, Wintersun and Nightwish. Now the story of Finland's 100 years of independence, nature and some the best Finnish metal characteristics are combined in the "Homeland" single and music video by, also Finnish, metal band My Reflection.
"When composing, the "Finland 100" theme was very prominent and I wanted to tribute my homeland somehow, filming the "Homeland" video took a year to capture all the Finnish four seasons. "We missed the main celebration but it is great to own the piece to 100-year-old Finland still at this point."
"The song also offers a kind of a showcase to Finnish metal by combining its more delicate and delightful sides. There was no intention to do any clear line-up and I let the thoughts speak. Feelings are often roller coaster and this is the end result this time." says Petja Haapaniemi, the composer-guitarist-vocalist of My Reflection.
The band ends several years of silence to the release. "The break has brought certain balance and maturity to our music. We are happy to finally share the piece with all the metal fans", says My Reflection vocalist Jenni Räikkönen.

California melodic metal quartet Upon The Water have released a music video for their new single "Fire". Produced by Jordan Lockrey of Carnifex and mixed and mastered by Onism Creations, the song comes from the band's upcoming record, set to release later this year.
“This is a very personal song for us as it journeys through the depths of our experiences with alcohol/substance abuse, and the inner turmoil it causes," said Guitarist, Justin Joseph. "It was probably the most fun song to write as it really touched on a lot of our different influences which really took the song to fun new places.”
The video for "Fire" was shot and directed by Dana Willax (Kingdom of Giants), who captured the song's emotions through subtle lighting and rapid movements.
Willax commented on the project saying:-
"The UTW guys are a dream to work with. They are down to put in as much work as it takes and I appreciate that. I also appreciate the fact that they reached out to me to make them a video knowing I had never made a music video before. I am stoked for their future as a band and can't wait to work with them again."

Canadian metal band Malacoda are to release the brand new album via Rockshots Records this coming fall!
Following on from the release of the EP "Ritualis Aeterna", Malacoda will be releasing a new full length album "Restless Dreams" via Rockshots Records in this coming fall. The album delivers a full musical experience inspired by the horror video game "Silent Hill 2". Malacoda first introduced their fans to the "Silent Hill 2" storyline with the track "I got a letter" which featured on the band's sophomore release, "Ritualis Aeterna" (Rockshots Records, 2017).
"Restless Dreams", inspired by the horror video game "Silent Hill 2", is a musical journey through dark, tormented themes of doubt, loss, guilt and terror. The plot of the album follows a broken man’s journey through the ghost town of Silent Hill after receiving a letter from his dead wife asking him to meet her there. Malacoda brings a fresh interpretation of the themes within the ground-breaking video game classic "Silent Hill 2". Malacoda artfully bring to life the oppressive, claustrophobic aura of the fog consumed town with deviously clever song-writing and mind-cacthing lyrics, Malacoda truly understand the importance of meticulous production, and appreciate the masterful mix by Jon Howard (Threat Signal, Imonolith), "Restless Dreams" is a musical release unlike any other. Fans and new listeners alike, prepare for an atmospheric and melodic metal descent into a world of horror and despair.
The new album "Restless Dreams" is set to be released via Rockshot Records on October 19 in North America and October 26 in Europe.
Cypher16 have begun recording their second album at Top Floor Studios in Gothenburg, Sweden. The record (as-yet untitled) will be produced by Jakob Herrmann (Anthrax, Machine Head etc) and mixed by Jacob Hansen (Amaranthe, Volbeat etc) in Denmark.
'We've been having a lot of fun trying to make a record that is heavy, but which steps away from the traditional 'heavy rock/metal' sound and style that we feel has caused the genre to stagnate in recent years. We're turning down the gain, but turning up the attitude, and we'll be interested in what the reaction is to a very heavy album with a difference!'
The first single 'Push Through The Water' is due for release at the end of August.
Signed lyric sheets and other items from the recording session are available to buy from the band's merchandise store here. All proceeds go towards the album production costs.
A very ambitious band passionate about writing and playing extreme music, Ottawa ON's Ominous Eclipse draws their inspiration from a wide variety of genres to create a unique hybrid sound with death metal being the main aspect combined with elements of thrash, groove, black, melodic, etc. Active since 2014, Ominous Eclipse has been making waves on the local scene opening for names such as Revocation, The Agonist, Kalmah, Archspire, Incantation, Vesperia, Beyond Creation, Rivers of Nihil to name a few. In the same year of their conception, they unleashed a four song EP “Beyond The Apocalypse” with a full length “End Of Days” following not long after in 2015. Now in 2018, they return with their sophomore album “Sinister” due out September 14th.
The band comments:
"There's no concept or theme on this album so all the songs have different meaning. The title track itself divulges into the inevitable end to humanity and potentially the world with it. It discusses the issues around the globe and also addresses the ignorance and selfishness of those indirectly affected by the chaos. It has a strong "United We Stand, Divided We Fall" theme in regards to how people can turn their backs on those in need in order to save their own skin, which ironically will lead to our end as it causes people to turn on each other. Musically for this album, you will notice we have evolved from the first release and have moved away from thrashy overtones to become more diverse including more heavily stated melodic and technical with a solid groove and death foundation."
Ominous Eclipse's first three singles, the album's title track "Sinister", "Spiral Into Insanity" and "The Horde" were assaulted upon metal fans earlier this year and can be heard at the following links:

The powerful melodic metal band Kilmara presents their new masterpiece “Across the Realm of Time“. After three critically acclaimed albums, the debut “Haunting Dreams” the work that put them on the world map, “Dont fear the Wolf” and their fantastic third album “Love songs and other nightmares“, it was time for Kilmara to make their fourth album, the most important of their career. With the incorporations of the American singer Daniel Ponce and the virtuoso Argentinian guitarist Miguel Laise, Kilmara returns to revolutionize their sound being now more melodic, faster and powerful, but without losing the class and mastery that characterizes them. “Across the realm of time” is the definitive work and consecration of Kilmara, a new step to conquer all lovers of quality metal.
Kilmara has created a collection of incredible songs that are inspired by melodic heavy metal and European progpower metal always looking for a modern and elegant sound. Kilmara is today one of the most powerful and innovative bands to consider in the modern metal scene. With a past-present-future concept as a basis, this is a circular work in which to submerge and let yourself be carried away by the passion that exists in each topic from beginning to end.
