Australian prog metallers Ironstone release compelling new single / video, ‘Brave The Black’13/10/2022 Melbourne's progressive metal outfit Ironstone released ‘Brave The Black’, the third single from their forthcoming EP ‘The Place I Cannot Find’. The explosive track takes the listener on a ride through complex twists, turns and ever changing dynamics. Technical, syncopated rhythms and crushingly low guitars give way to an impossibly catchy chorus that soars into your consciousness with an all too familiar lament. Not being able to go to sleep. Lead vocalist, Dan Charlton, crosses effortlessly from vicious screams to heartfelt cleans, genuinely conveying the sheer frustration of insomnia. “We always try to write about relatable things and I think everybody has experienced this at some point. An ongoing battle with sleep can be devastating and really mess up your life” says Charlton. “Brave The Black is about dreading that nightly struggle in the dark and the range of emotions you feel when you can’t get to sleep, like desperation, anxiety, and worrying about how you’ll cope the next day. ” The single is accompanied by an energetic music video that really enhances the drama of the song and the message it portrays. It features the band performing as well as showing an exasperated Charlton in bed, fighting for elusive sleep. ‘Brave The Black’ is the third single from Ironstone’s new EP ‘The Place I Cannot Find’ set to be released on the 26th of October. There will be a launch show on Saturday 29th of October at the Tote Hotel in Melbourne. Tickets are available through Oztix here: https://tickets.oztix.com.au/outlet/event/32d18253-5cdb-4786-87fc-0a10d7a09697 Ironstone are: Dan Charlton - Lead Vocals Edward Warren - Lead Guitar, Vocals Oliver Hosking - Bass Guitar Jackson Whyte - Drums, Vocals Rapidly rising as one of Melbourne's brightest progressive metal outfits, Ironstone demonstrate an astounding level of musical ingenuity as they blend layers of crushing, low tuned guitars and technical rhythm with groove, hooks and melody galore. Greatly influenced by progressive metal giants such as Periphery, Tesseract and Twelve Foot Ninja, Ironstone craft clever, quirky songs that offset melodic choruses and atmospheric layers with heavy breakdowns and extreme vocals. The result is a juggernaut of modern metal that is sophisticated and hard hitting.

Finnish progressive metal band Joviac released a new single and music video 'Dissemination'. Since their latest single 'The Fine Line' the band has now expanded from trio to quintet when Johannes Leipälä (Guitar) & Tuomas Honkkila (Keyboards) were added to the line-up earlier this summer.
Viljami Wenttola's comments: "When the global pandemic began and we all became familiar with the term "lockdown", I noticed that it wasn't the disease itself that was most anxiety and fear inducing for me personally, but the amount of misinformation and disinformation surrounding the disease. Fake news was rampant. People used the disease to further their at times questionable motives and armed themselves with arguments that supported only their own nefarious or ignorant ends. Suddenly everyone felt like they knew better than everyone else and trust in their "own research" was stronger than in the scientific community. In many ways the pandemic brought out the darkest sides of humanity. I channelled all of my pandemic anxiety and fear into this song and the result is definitely the heaviest song that we've ever released. I even tried out harsh vocals/growling for the first time!" The progressive metalcore whirlwind Mask of Prospero release their new video / single "Lament". The song is the first single out from their upcoming album "Hiraeth", which will be released in January 2023 via ViciSolum Productions. Mask of Prospero is a progressive metalcore band that was built based on love for the human and the earthly element of life, for the feelings that spring from music, but also for the music that springs from this feeling. The character of a band, after all, is not formed only by the externalization of ideas, but mostly through an internal struggle to construct a unique identity. "Lament" is a dialogue of the soul, penetrating deep emotions above and beyond what man has been able to hear. It is a form of awareness, emanating from realistic experiences teeming with cynicism and melancholy, based on an axiom: that every person who happens to be a part of your daily routine, even for a while, lives a life as vivid and complex as yours· people who have been in our lives for a while and have treated us badly or made us realize things, and then disappear, leaving behind ashes of experiences, but also traces that may never be erased. Thus far, they have released a demo, an EP and will present their first full-length “Quest for Absolution” in 2023. Originally, they were an old-school style thrash metal band, but with time have started experimenting with different sounds and progressions. It’s an amalgamation of the different influences that each band member has picked up over the years allowing them to start fusing genres such as thrash, technical death, a hint of jazz, and progressive metal together. These varied influences can be heard in the single “Archons of Death”, which they comment on: “This was the fifth song we wrote for the album and it ended up being the opener as we feel it gets straight to the point and was a great way to introduce our listeners to the new sound. It took a while to write, as originally we had planned for it to be much longer and much more intricate, but we decided to cut those parts to keep it simple and memorable. “Archons,” tells the story of these godlike beings of another dimension, who come to “sterilize humankind” as it is their belief that humans are a corrupt and inferior species. Therefore, they wish to “cleanse their souls” by extermination in hopes that they will be reborn as a better and more complete species.” “Archons of Death” is essentially the prequel to the title track, telling the story from their perspective while “Quest for Absolution,” tells the same story from the human’s perspective and how they deal with facing death from these omnipotent beings. The album is a journey through space, touching on subjects such as alien invasion and escaping earth for survival. Other songs also talk about the demise of humanity, war, drug addiction, and mental / physical struggles. Dynamic, aggressive, and technical, the goal for Rising Sun is to take the listeners on a journey; a rollercoaster of melodic, yet intense riffage! The band enjoys exploring intriguing and often dark topics such as the ones present in the album. They are recommended for fans of Vektor, Obscura, and Coroner. The lyric video for “Archons of Death” can be seen and heard via its premiere on TheCirclePit - https://youtu.be/BK2e5XQfcKs Digital - https://linktr.ee/risingsun The band was formed in 2018 from a collection of ambitious and talented kids with a shared interest in interesting music. Their unique brand of entertainment fuses speed and precision with energetic and interactive performances that make you realize there are still many innovative and interesting bands in modern-day metal. Rising Sun had the pleasure of opening for iconic bands such as Warbringer and Enforcer, and was set to open for Flotsam & Jetsam in 2020, however, it was cancelled due to COVID -19. Rising Sun’s EP “Language of the Warrior” was well received and charted at number 1 on the CJSR 88.5 FM charts in Edmonton for multiple weeks. Currently, the band is working on their debut full-length album, titled “Quest for Absolution”, which features a change in the band’s style, as the music is much more technical and progressive than the last effort. The album is set for release in early 2023, with a Canadian tour to follow in support of it. https://www.facebook.com/risingsunthrash https://www.instagram.com/risingsunthrash Helsinki based progressive melodic metal band Numento has released a new single from their upcoming second album to be released on October 28th. The theme of the track "The Vile Entity" as well as the main theme on the whole full length record is about the essence and manifestation of evilness. Band backgrounds the song: "The Vile Entity is the title track of Numento's upcoming second album. The third single introduces the new intensive sound of the band comprehensively and gives an accurate overview of what is going to be expected from the album as a whole. The themes of the album and the title track are built on an enigma about the seed of evil, how does a human or other entity become evil -- how are serial killers and other criminals born? The new single will dive right into this question since the antagonist of the story is one of the most famous and cunning serial murderers ever known, and who managed to hide his true face for a long time by appearing innocent to the people around him. The story of the single will be introduced with a visually interesting and thrilling music video."
The origin of Numento dates back to 2004. That year a few schoolmates from eastern Helsinki decided to start playing instruments. And of course before anyone had learned a single chord it felt mandatory to also form a band. A metal band. During the following years the band changed its name a couple times. It wasn’t until late 2010 when the band decided to change its name for the last time. The name Numento was chosen after a long night. The lineup has had few changes after that, but it was that time that the band started to find it's own sound that you can still recognize in their music. NUMENTO:

Band links: Facebook | Youtube | On Sliptrick Swedish modern metallers Avatar release twisted new single and video for 'Valley of Disease'25/9/2022 The heavy metal, dark, madcap visionaries, collectively known as Avatar, have emerged from deep within the Swedish forest in which they have been working on their ninth studio album to grace fans and listeners with a brand new song, 'Valley of Disease'. Listen to the single HERE, and watch the video, HERE. Vocalist Johannes Eckerström states: "There is a sickness, a stranger, and a harmful way. A twisted landscape untouched by the sun. I leave the rest up to either you or me, but never both at the same time. You can only enter this place alone, and my path isn't yours. Your secret is safe with me, but so is mine." Avatar enjoyed quite a productive summer, traipsing North America on a successful headline tour. They next embarked on some of the biggest shows of their career - a trek with Iron Maiden, supporting the band in stadiums in Brazil. Avatar also played arenas supporting Sabaton and secured major festival appearances globally with INKcarceration, Cadott Fest, Summer Breeze, and Bloodstock. As for Avatar's mission? There are no weapons on this planet that can challenge the might of the electric guitar. For decades, metal has been the most powerful force known to man. It's sonic teeth have gnawed through the status quo over and over, pushing the boundaries for what can be created in the marriage between blood and machine. If Mount Rushmore were to be carved for all the titans of the genre, it would span the entire globe many times over. It's a burning beacon for the misfits and the rebels. As time has passed, much of the scene has become divided in two equally stale camps. The first is forever stuck in the past, no longer seeking to lead. The second are those who have forgotten the most important ingredients to what made metal what it was and must remain. They've lost touch with the Devil. They've forgotten how to move. In a genre best experienced with your whole body, they've lost the lust. Avatar, however, have not lost anything. It is with this fire in their bellies that they continue to craft their next album.
