Female Dark Metal band Upon Shadows premiere their new track and video called "Light and Shadows" to celebrate their 20th anniversary. The song combines the raw sound of guitars, bass and fierce vocals with the poetry of the lyrics and the extremely dark atmosphere, emphasized by the keyboards. This single will not be part of the new Upon Shadows album, which is in the process of being recorded and will be released next year. As a curious fact, it should be said that the releases of Upon Shadows are always on the same date, and this is because October 18 is the birthday of Tamara Picardo, leader of the band. "Light and Shadows" was recorded mostly in Oulu, Finland and the bass in Montevideo, Uruguay. Mixed and mastered by Mika Pohjola at Soundmix recording studio, Oulu, Finland in 2022, and is now available on music platforms. Tamara Picardo comment about the song: “For this single we wanted to go for a more raw sound, this decision is based on the concept within "Light and Shadows". It is a song that somehow evokes the spirit of our first albums and at the same time unites it with who we are now. In a way it is "proof" that we are still the same dreamy rebels, that 20 years ago got together to make dark music, and our flame is still furiously alive. There are no political or philosophical references in this song... I wanted this song to be a bit of fresh air, among so many bad news and constant tragedies. Among so many people trying to convince another of something. This is poetry and extreme metal with all our passion and our blood”. Brutal death metallers Bonecarver have released their esoteric second single, 'Ancient Atrocity', ahead of their new album, Carnage Funeral, due 11th November via Unique Leader Records.
The story behind new single, 'Ancient Atrocity,' and accompanying video, has been concocted by the band and their friend SVICIDVL, who helped them to mould the ongoing chronicle. Bonecarver commented on the new single: "Alk Yabar is an ancient alchemist obsessed with an ancient prophecy. According to writings of the Demonomicon, the arrival of the herald of chaos is very close, but for completing the rite that initiates the balance of shadow and light in the world must find an ancient arcane item lost in the vastness of the desert of Yalbalah. Alk begins a journey through the ancient ruins and tunnels of the forbidden tombs of the kings of the last dynasty of Fenhkrir. This ancient and advanced civilisation disappeared overnight without leaving a trace of its glory and its mighty civilisation."
Formed from the ashes of Cannibal Grandpa, Spanish masters of ultra-modern brutality, Bonecarver, have been at the forefront of the extreme scene in their native Madrid since 2014. Combining stories about infamous serial killers with their own take on brutal death metal, the band received worldwide praise for their Unique Leader debut Evil in 2021. Returning with their highly anticipated sophomore album, Carnage Funeral, Bonecarver have spawned a skull crushing monster. The nine tracks offer an oozing, infernal masterclass in bone-splintering death metal, a true statement of intent from the start, showing this new iteration are serious about establishing their own legacy whilst taking extreme metal to a new level. Bonecarver are:

The band adds about the track: "'Burning Horizon' is direct and catchy both melodically and structurally; it focuses on the voices that intersect and duet, sometimes harmoniously, sometimes aggressively opposing each other. The instrumental part is articulate, but always keeping an eye on melody and easy assimilation. The orchestrations also play an important role, providing a backdrop to the burned horizon that will turn into a desert very soon."
MindAhead's next full-length offering "6119 Part 1" follows their 2017 debut "Reflections" released on Roman label Revalve Records. Just like its predecessor, the band's new offering is once again a concept album with a complex, personal and unusual sound to test the limits of their songwriting. "6119 Part 1" is a continuation of the previous work on "Reflections", which will tell us the story of 6119, the main character, through a surreal, oneiric journey, always poised between physical space and the realm of the mind. Trapped in this dreamlike kaleidoscope, he proceeds heedless of the consequences, hoping to find at the end of the journey (the "Part II," currently in production) the reason why all this is happening to him. Merging different aspects, sometimes opposite, of human feeling, bringing them together in a colourful and personal musical proposal, which has its roots in influences ranging from prog 70s to death metal, the band explains the new album in further detail: "This album is a concept realized with the aim of telling a story that straddles the line between dystopian science fiction and the psychological investigation of the human mind, so the music and lyrics were created in order to reach these goals. We would like the listening experience to be completely immersive. We would like the listener to be able to take a break from the real world and step into another dimension, one that is distant but at the same time well known, not alien, but almost familiar. The listener should passionately follow the events of '6119' in its inner and outer search for reality, in a story that began in the previous album 'Reflections' and will end in the band's next release, so as to complete a narrative trilogy." Having shared the stage with bands such as Jinjer, Vision Divine, Deathless Legacy, Domine, Pino Scotto, MindAhead is recommended for fans of Opeth, Ayreon, Haken, Katatonia and Pink Floyd. "6119 Part 1" is due out October 28th, 2022 via Rockshots Records.

Biography: Written by JP Pallais Following the end of Wildernessking’s career, Keenan Oakes had to continue making music, despite the difficulties of playing in a metal band in Cape Town, South Africa. Regardless, Oakes joined forces with Crow Black Sky’s Gideon Lamprecht in 2018 to create the musical entity known as Constellatia. Taken from the word ‘constellation’, Constellatia refers to the nature of existence and the natural world, the cosmos, and extracting meaning and happiness from it all. The band’s somber take on progressive black metal encapsulates inherently human subjects; a distillation of life’s meander, sadness and tribulations. Inspired by artists such as Opeth, Mastodon, The Cure, Primordial, Neurosis, Wolves in the Throne Room, Pink Floyd, Beach House, Agalloch, Emperor and Cult of Luna, Constellatia imbue their stark musical landscape with ferocity and reverie. Following the release of their debut record via Isolation Records in 2019, The Language of Limbs, Constellatia was very quick to garner the attention of listeners around the world, leading to their acknowledgement and subsequent signing to the large, independent record label, Season of Mist. While The Language of Limbs sounds bleak and tends to instil a sense of longing within the listener, it too sparks an idyllic feeling of catharsis with the mesmerizing atmospheric soundscapes and subtle intoxicating harmonies. Now with Season of Mist’s support moving forward with their second record, Constellatia have the footing and foundation to fully expand on their musical endeavours. The new album which is set to release on November the 11th 2022, shows Constellatia continuing to evolve on their already mature sound, creating these larger-than-life romantic compositions that express the emotional spectrum of simply being; an amorphous progressive metal experience enriched with lavish ambiance and ripe with spirit, unique to them alone. From the very start, the goal with Constellatia was to create emotionally dense and textured metal that is both transcendent and incredibly human. With the release of their upcoming record later this year, Constellatia will reveal just how much more dynamic and vulnerable their music has become. It may seem that the band is now hitting their stride, but they have only just begun. Plans are being made to tour the many corners of the world in support of their new album and subsequent releases. Australian prog metallers Ironstone release compelling new single / video, ‘Brave The Black’13/10/2022 Melbourne's progressive metal outfit Ironstone released ‘Brave The Black’, the third single from their forthcoming EP ‘The Place I Cannot Find’. The explosive track takes the listener on a ride through complex twists, turns and ever changing dynamics. Technical, syncopated rhythms and crushingly low guitars give way to an impossibly catchy chorus that soars into your consciousness with an all too familiar lament. Not being able to go to sleep. Lead vocalist, Dan Charlton, crosses effortlessly from vicious screams to heartfelt cleans, genuinely conveying the sheer frustration of insomnia. “We always try to write about relatable things and I think everybody has experienced this at some point. An ongoing battle with sleep can be devastating and really mess up your life” says Charlton. “Brave The Black is about dreading that nightly struggle in the dark and the range of emotions you feel when you can’t get to sleep, like desperation, anxiety, and worrying about how you’ll cope the next day. ” The single is accompanied by an energetic music video that really enhances the drama of the song and the message it portrays. It features the band performing as well as showing an exasperated Charlton in bed, fighting for elusive sleep. ‘Brave The Black’ is the third single from Ironstone’s new EP ‘The Place I Cannot Find’ set to be released on the 26th of October. There will be a launch show on Saturday 29th of October at the Tote Hotel in Melbourne. Greatly influenced by progressive metal giants such as Periphery, Tesseract and Twelve Foot Ninja, Ironstone craft clever, quirky songs that offset melodic choruses and atmospheric layers with heavy breakdowns and extreme vocals. Finnish progressive metal band Joviac released a new single and music video 'Dissemination'. Since their latest single 'The Fine Line' the band has now expanded from trio to quintet when Johannes Leipälä (Guitar) & Tuomas Honkkila (Keyboards) were added to the line-up earlier this summer.
Viljami Wenttola's comments: "When the global pandemic began and we all became familiar with the term "lockdown", I noticed that it wasn't the disease itself that was most anxiety and fear inducing for me personally, but the amount of misinformation and disinformation surrounding the disease. Fake news was rampant. People used the disease to further their at times questionable motives and armed themselves with arguments that supported only their own nefarious or ignorant ends. Suddenly everyone felt like they knew better than everyone else and trust in their "own research" was stronger than in the scientific community. In many ways the pandemic brought out the darkest sides of humanity. I channelled all of my pandemic anxiety and fear into this song and the result is definitely the heaviest song that we've ever released. I even tried out harsh vocals/growling for the first time!" Hardcore / thrash / crossover band Cage Fight have released new single "Eating Me Alive" ft. the late, great Trevor Strnad of The Black Dahlia Murder. Opening up about struggles with mental health, the "Eating Me Alive" lyric video has been released on World Mental Health Day, the international day for global mental health education, awareness and advocacy against social stigma.
One of — if not the final — recording by Strnad, the video was originally planned for May 13, which was Cage Fight's album release day. But the drop was postponed due to Strnad's tragic unexpected passing just days before. Trevor's support for singer Rachel Aspe's work played a key role in the formation of Cage Fight, which is why his contribution to their debut album is so special. And the subject matter — struggles with anxiety and mental health — makes this poignant song even more significant. Aspe comments:- "Over COVID I was looking for a new project and releasing covers for something to do, but also to hopefully connect with other musicians. When I released my cover of 'Statutory Ape,' Trevor picked up on it and shared from The Black Dahlia Murder's pages, and it got a lot of attention. Trevor messaged me to say he loved it, and hoped that I'd find a band off the back of the cover. Not long after James (Monteith, guitar) contacted me about Cage Fight and the rest is history. Had it not been for Trevor's support, Cage Fight may never have happened; it was a huge honour to have him guest on this song and it meant the world to us. He was one of the greatest supporters of the scene and new music, and is truly missed. RIP Trevor." On the song's content, bassist Jon Reid comments:- "'Eating Me Alive' is about the day-to-day struggles and challenges with mental health that are so prominent to so many people and how the sorrow and loneliness can have a tangible effect. This is something personal to us and we wanted to let people know that they are not alone. We can all have these feelings and that most importantly there is help out there, and we can all find something special. We have chosen to release this on World Mental Health day as a sign of solidarity." With the new single, Cage Fight are urging fans to show support by purchasing the Trevor Strnad memorial shirt. All proceeds will help Trevor's family cover expenses incurred by his death and benefit the Common Ground Resource & Crisis Center. Purchase and donate here. "Eating Me Alive" is taken from their debut album, Cage Fight, out now on the Candlelight label. Stream or purchase the album here. 2022 has been an explosive year for Cage Fight with the release of their highly acclaimed self-titled debut album, tours with Sepultura, Raging Speedhorn, and Cro-Mags, shows with Svalbard, Napalm Death and more, as well as appearing at many festivals including Bloodstock, Burn It Down, including headlining Derby Alt Fest. Now firm favourites on the live circuit, Cage Fight have announced their first ever UK headline tour in December 2022. Siamese8/10/2022 Unseen Faith deliver a crushing fusion between deathcore and metalcore at the highest standard, with compositions that naturally move between dark and groovy to exalted atmospheric breathing halts. Armed with heavy guitar riffs, lots of energy and neck-wrecking breakdowns, the quintet is more than ready to make an impression on the world, with what they define as their finest songs yet. Following the latest LP “Evoke”, they now unveil their brand new single 'Deadly Potential', which features a guest performance from Mirza Radonjica of Siamese - watch the accompanying music video below. “Deadly Potential is about how everyone is a carrier of badness and how one thing can split friends and family into atoms. A call to look inward and scrutinize one's actions. Because if we simply react instinctively and recklessly, what is left in the end?”, the band muses. The coming singles will force the listeners to take a clear view, or enlighten them as to where the band perceives we as humans or/and society fails—building our empire around ourselves with a desire and thirst for more while forgetting the people we care about. Unseen Faith invite you to take a stand, by bringing new perspectives to the conversation and debate about cultural differences. In a world of opportunities, it is likely to dwell in our small worlds and bury ourselves inside our own fortress. The new singles are produced and mixed by Chris Kreutzfeldt (Cabal, Ghost Iris) at Badcat Studio. The first single 'Deadly Potential' featuring Siamese, is already available on all streaming services. https://www.facebook.com/UnseenFaith/ https://www.instagram.com/unseenfaithband/ https://bio.to/UnseenFaith The Intense new track titled "Fight Alone," from alternative metal band, Motive Black (AFM Records) is out now. Produced by Grammy-winner Nick Rowe (Bloodsimple, Vampire Weekend), the track showcases the vocal prowess of frontwoman Elana Justin, and features Ray Luzier (Korn) on drums and Nick Rowe on guitar, bass and co-songwriting credits. "This song is about losing yourself in passion," Elana Justin says. "Attraction is a powerful thing, it can be amazing, but also vicious. It can engulf you, and cloud your mind, but also awaken you in ways you never thought possible. Everything feels dangerous and so alive." She adds: "This song was super intense to create. It’s dark, vivid, and emotional. I felt really raw and almost animalistic when I was writing it. When Ray came in and added drums it brought everything to a new level that I believe only he is capable of tapping into." Ray Luzier says "Elana’s a very powerful, emotional singer. Her aggressive yet dynamic lyrics are refreshing to hear. I think this record is gonna turn a lot of heads. We really need great, fresh-sounding, new music like Motive Black, now more than ever!!" The track will be on the upcoming album titled Auburn. Justin says " Auburn is named for my sister who unfortunately passed away. She had beautiful auburn hair. Losing her forced me to reexamine my life and make significant changes. I went through a huge transitional period which included both ugly and beautiful experiences. The album is a wild ride through that journey of anger, mania, deep love, and self discovery." "Fight Alone" was produced at the legendary NRG Studios in North Hollywood, Calif. by Grammy-winning Nick Rowe (Vampire Weekend, Lamb Of God, Madonna, Snoop Dogg) and mixed by Josh Wilbur (Lamb of God, Korn, Papa Roach). Motive Black will appeal to fans of Evanescence, Delain, Follow The Cypher, The Pretty Reckless, Halestorm, New Years Day, In This Moment, Shinedown.
