Faroese Metalles Týr have unveiled their latest music video, "The Lay of Our Love", from their most recent album, "Valkyrja." The song features a vocal duet with Leaves' Eyes vocalist Liv Kristine. So, naturally, fans will be excited to see that Kristine joins Heri Joensen and the rest of Týr in this new video!

The video was produced by Stanimir Lukic, directed by Ivan Colic, and can be seen now here: http://www.revolvermag.com/news/exclusive-tyr-premiere-new-music-video-the-lay-of-our-love-featuring-liv-kristine-of-leaves-eyes.html

Týr had this to say about "The Lay of Our Love":

"We've wanted to make a CGI video for a long time, and this is our first one, so we're obviously excited for the release and reception of the video. On top of that, the presence of Liv in the video makes it even more special. All in all we're very pleased with the result."

Týr will be joining Children Of Bodom on their "Halo Of Blood Over North America" tour in early 2014. The tour will embark on February 14th in Quebec City and wraps up on March 28 and 29 with back-to-back shows at Irving Plaza in New York, NY.

Týr performed live on August 10th as part of the Faroe Island's Summarfestivalurin in Klaksvik. Over 8,000 Faroese were in attendance as the band put on a huge set featuring old favorites, as well as new tracks, including "Blood of Heroes". The event was filmed and a video for "Blood of Heroes" can be seen now at metalblade.com/tyr.

Sonic Syndicate hit the studio for album no. 5

Swedish Modern Metal superstars Sonic Syndicate have entered the studio to record their new album.

The band's fifth full-length effort is due to be released sometime in summer 2014 via Nuclear Blast and is being recorded and produced together with renowned producer Roberto Laghi (In Flames, Mustasch) in Bohus, Sweden.

Guitarist and main songwriter Robin Sjunnesson commented:

"We’ve been writing songs for over a year now and it just feels sick to start laying these bad boys down. This album is feeling kind of dark, heavy and melodic which fits perfect with the January weather here in Scandinavia. We have Roberto Laghi sitting here in the drivers seat. Everything just feels perfect this time around. We’ve worked with Roberto in the past and have become good friends over the years so this time around he’ll be producing the album as well as mixing which he’s done with the last two albums. We have a few guests popping into the studio over the next two months and for those who are interested we’ll be posting updates via all our social networks starting today so join in the madness and hash tag our asses.“

Sonic Syndicate will also appear on chosen open air events over the summer and have announced to be touring in fall 2014 which will mark the band's first tour in over 3 years.

Finnish radio station Rock Radio recently conducted an exclusive interview with Sonic Syndicate's own Nathan J. Biggs to talk about the band's hiatus and the forthcoming glorious return.

Avaejee from Thai Black Metal bands Surrender of Divinity and Zygoatsi, murdered.

Picture

The metal scene in Asia is picking up vastly and has been around for a the last two or so decades with major strongholds being located in India, Japan, China and Indonesia amongst the rest of the glowing metal scene, but like most things it comes at a price.

Recently we was talking to French label Legion of Death Records, we were informed that one musician, A
vaejee from the Thai Black Metal Surrender of Divinity and Zygoatsis has been found murdered, having been stabbed to death. We are yet to know the cause behind this but this naturally is a sad day for all of us as a global community. Given the tensions with metal music in that part of the world, it would seem likely a motive was present but again we cannot speculate on the issue.

Speaking to Shaxul, the owner of
Legion of Death Records and Armee De La Mort Records, also a musician himself in the Pictavian Black Metal band Manzer, it came as a shock to him as he knew him personally through touring with his band in both Thailand and Malaysia.

This has got to stop, whilst we do not enter politics at any cost we feel that this is a part of the problem, that the Governments don't look at metal as something constructive but rather a force against normative cultural ethics and aesthetics.
This is abhorrent and whilst we continually support the Asian Metal scene, we feel more needs to be done to deliver the harsh reality to the world, it is a growing scene that faces a lot of monstrosities and this is one such case.

Thailand itself has a rather medium-sized scene in comparison to nearby Indonesia and Malaysia and yet the Extreme Metal scene itself is greater than the overall scene, that might be hard to imagine but think of this, having more bands that play this style of metal over the entire range of metal compared, it's simple enough to figure out. Moreover we hope the responsible are caught and given the punishment they deserve.

Our thoughts reside with colleagues, friends and family of Avaejee

The first new video release from the eclectic ensemble in six years includes stunning live footage and extensive bonus features beginning with ChthoniC's full performance at the 2013 Formoz Festival in Taipei, Taiwan, where they were joined by the Chai Feng Traditional Orchestra, as well as renowned Taiwanese opera singer Tang Mei-yun for a collaborative rendition of the track "Defenders Of Bú-Tik Palace."

Additionally, the near-hour-long DVD offers up five spectacular music videos from their recently released Bú-tik full-length: "Defenders Of Bú-Tik Palace", "Supreme Pain For The Tyrant", "Sail Into The Sunset's Fire", "Set Fire To The Island" and "Next Republic". The music videos are an extraordinary blend of martial arts, combat fighting, dance and drama. ChthoniC members wire-fly through the air, bathe in water amid torrential downpours and travel through time to a party in the 1930's in an elaborate military alliance between Nazi Germany and the Chinese Nationalist Party (KMT) regime. The production truly highlights ChthoniC's irrefutable creativity both onstage and beyond. Other extras include behind-the-scenes footage from the video shoots as well as exclusive interviews with bassist Doris Yeh, director Vince Chuang and various backstage footage.

Interview w/ bassist Doris Yeh and Director Vince Chuang

ChthoniC released their award winning, seventh studio recording, "Bú-Tik", via Spinefarm Records last year. Called "a masterful and elegant tradition served underneath soaring thrash-influenced guitars, pummeling drums and a vocal performance that is absolutely stellar from an overlooked vocalist," by About.com, the critically adored "Bú-Tik" is centered around the story of the 228 Massacre, the Bú-Tik Palace and the Mirror Of Retribution, and emphasizes what bassist Doris Yeh describes as "righteous violence, justifiable defense, and the armed spirits".

"Ián-Bú" will be available on DVD and Visual Digital Formats via Eagle Records on February 25, 2014.

Costa Rica's Sight of Emptiness announce 21st January as the release date for 'Instincts'

6/1/2014

Picture

Costa Rica's finest musical export is ready to take on the world! Sight of Emptiness have been hard at work towards making an impact on the global metal scene since the release of "Trust Is A Disease" in 2007 - the same year the band won the Bloodstock Unsigned Contest and played the main stage at Bloodstock Open Air.

Since then, Sight of Emptiness have been hard at work. Releasing another album independently in 2009 and supporting heavy weights such as Megadeth, At The Gates, Obituary and more -- even playing national concerts for the Costa Rican government to over 15,000 people and being invited back to play Bloodstock Open Air in 2012, without entering a contest.

The band's hard work culminates now, as they prepare to unleash their third full length album "Instincts" on January 21st!

"Instincts" is a heavy-hitting dose of Melodic Death Metal that will hit home with fans of Amon Amarth, At The Gates, In Flames and the like. It is also a very targeted effort to reach the worldwide metal masses. Produced by Thomas "Plec" Johansson (Watain, Scar Symmetry, etc), "Instincts" features a who's who of incredible musicians guesting on the album. Tracks featuring Glen Drover (Megadeth, King Diamond), Ralph Santolla (Deicide, Iced Earth), Christian Alvestam (Scar Symmetry) and Whitfield Crane (Ugly Kid Joe) make the album standout on looks alone, but the songs themselves will have fans coming back for more!

Not only have Sight of Emptiness caught the attention of their peers, but also the Costa Rican government as "Instincts" also features a guest appearance of Manuel Obregon, the Minister of Culture & Youth for Costa Rica's government.

To get your first tastes of "Instincts", check out the first video from the album for the track "Essence (featuring Whitfield Crane of Ugly Kid Joe)" here.
