The earth was covered in petrified magma and the air was heavy with ash. As if by a miracle, however, something in the grey mist moved. The boulders and cobblestones rattled and grinded as they piled up on top of each other. They climbed towards the sky, slowly twisting into a spine. The wind helped the sand draw its expression, the clay bound its limbs together. Assembled from the fragments of a bygone world, its cold shell began to resemble a human, but one without a purpose. Even though it didn’t know which way to go, two things were certain: It had a melting heart and a burning desire to live. As a composition, 'Golem' was built up from the, perhaps even a little bit folk-inspired, guitar melody heard in the chorus. When you add Volucrine’s typical riff texture and a crushing verse, the result is a surgical strike in song form that can be proudly presented as the first single from the upcoming album. The lyrics are addressed to those who sometimes feel that life takes away more than it gives. I would like to remind them that navigating through a void without a view requires guts and strength of character. Even there, you might find new life." Malus Dextra hails from St. Louis, MO. where guitarist Justin Ruesch (former D-Railed/Brutal Harmony) resides, formed in 2017 after recruiting vocalist Wayne Allison (former A Strand of Fate/Victims of Life) with the intent to bring the world music that was not limited to boundaries of genre and subgenres. Although the core of the band is metal the music speaks to the masses for fans ranging from Killswitch Engage to Slayer to I Prevail, the two entered Encapsulated Studios to record the debut “Self-Titled” album, released Oct 31, 2017, and was supported with mid-west and upper east coast touring in 2018. The band's second full-length album titled “The Gate” was released Oct 31, 2020, supported by mid-west touring, followed by dual releases “Bangin Bionic Beats” a 6 song EP featuring tracks from both the “Self Titled” and “The Gate” remixed and reimagined by John McLucas from McLucas Studios (CA), and “A Somber Moment” a 6 song softer acoustic side from the artist recorded at Encapsulated Studios with producer/engineer Gabe Usery, both Eps released on Oct 31, 2021. The video showcases the band's first live show since the pandemic, at Rockfest in Finland, coupled with footage of them recording their second album in Sweden, Denmark and England.  The Intense new track titled "Fight Alone," from alternative metal band, Motive Black (AFM Records) is out now. Produced by Grammy-winner Nick Rowe (Bloodsimple, Vampire Weekend), the track showcases the vocal prowess of frontwoman Elana Justin, and features Ray Luzier (Korn) on drums and Nick Rowe on guitar, bass and co-songwriting credits.
