American instrumental metal trio Aziola Cry stream new album "The Ironic Divide"

Sensory Records presents "The Ironic Divide", the blistering third album from Chicago instrumental metal trio Aziola Cry. The album is out now and streaming in its entirety.

Aziola Cry has performed with Behold… The Arctopus, Don Caballero, Tiles, Far Corner, and many others, while appearing at progressive rock festivals including M.A.R.S. Fest. The band released their debut album, Ellipsis, in 2005, followed by Ghost Conversations in 2007, after which they went wholly dormant, until now.

With Mike Milaniak on guitar, Jason Blake on Warr guitar, and Tommy Murray on drums, Aziola Cry closes a nearly fourteen-year gap between records in 2021 with their third album, The Ironic Divide. Boasting their heaviest and most intricate work yet, the forty-eight-minute album features four songs which tell the story of one person‘s final descent. There are two types of people in this world. There are those who do good for others and make a positive contribution to society in some way. Then, there are those who do evil and hurt fellow humans. There is no rationale behind their behaviour. They are cowards. This is their story.

Picture

Aziola Cry‘s The Ironic Divide was recorded by Jim Siwek at Ultralownoise Studio and Transient Sound, mixed by Steven Gillis at Transient Sound, mastered by Ted Jansen at Sterling Sound (Alice In Chains, Lamb Of God, Gijora), and completed with artwork and design by Micka Klauck.

Stream Aziola Cry‘s entire The Ironic Divide now here: https://lasersedge.bandcamp.com/album/the-ironic-divide

Watch for additional video output and more from Aziola Cry to post over the weeks ahead and for new live announcements to come later this year once touring safely returns across the country.

Russian Avant-Garde Folk Metal trio Helena Aleksandre’s signs with Sliptrick Records

Picture

Joining the ranks at Sliptrick Records this week are Russian Instrumental Folk Metal / Progressive Hard Rock trio Helena Aleksandre’s (we prefer Avant-Garde Folk Metal).

The group is led by Helena who was born in Kostroma, Russia. She started playing guitar at 15 and took the next 5 years learning to understand her music and discover the talent to create music in her own style. Helena is joined by vocalist Vera Moore who also writes the text for the songs and Stasy Short who plays classical guitar and is also fond of playing bass guitar and synthesizer.

Helena Aleksandre’s music combines several styles. There is no framework for the compositions and the music specifically tries to avoid copying anyone. In any song, you may find a lot of non-recurring moments, which makes each song interesting and makes you want to listen to it several times. Influences include Ritchie Blackmore’s Rainbow and Kipelov while the sound has elements of folk, metal and progressive hard rock.

The all female line-up was created a year ago in 2018 with the band accumulated tracks ready for their debut album due to be released worldwide via Sliptrick Records.

Helena Aleksandre’s are:

Helena Aleksandre – Composer/Lyrics/Guitarist
Vera Moore – Vocals/Lyrics
Stasy Short – Guitarist

Cello Metal veterans Apocalyptica return with their stunning new single 'Ashes Of The Modern World'

4/10/2019

Picture

Bristling with an epically baroque life and energy, Finland’s multi-Platinum cello-rockers Apocalyptica have unveiled their brand new single ‘Ashes Of The Modern World.’ The song is taken from Cell-0,  their upcoming ninth studio album, released on January 10th via Silver Lining Music.

The powerful video was directed by the award-winning Finnish photographer/videographer Ville Juurikkala who has worked with a wide variety of prominent artists from Guns N’ Roses and Aerosmith to opera singer Andrea Bocelli.

The recording of Cell-0 followed a four-year break between albums that gave the band - Eicca Toppinen, Perttu Kivilaakso, Paavo Lötjönen, and Mikko Sirén, all of whom are classically-trained musicians - a fresh perspective and affected the way they approached the new music. The album sees them return to their roots and is the quartet’s first instrumental album in 17 years, finding Apocalyptica challenging themselves to discover new flavours and colours in their respective instruments.

“It is tough to express without lyrics, but in Cell-0, we found particles of our universe previously unknown to us,” they explained. “Millions of notes combine to create music just as millions of cells combine to create life, and when you visualize the whole thing, similar patterns appear.”

Produced by Apocalyptica, mixed by Andrew Scheps (Red Hot Chili Peppers, Lana Del Rey, Metallica and Black Sabbath), and recorded at Sonic Pump Studios in Helsinki, Cell-0 sees the band soaring into ethereal space on ‘Ashes Of The Modern World,’ while diving head-first into aggressive thrash cello-riffery during ‘En Route To Mayhem.’

Rather than put strategic attention on aspects like writing singles, the band approached Cell-0 as a fully-formed piece of art, connecting the right details and hues with the energy of being a real cello-metal band.  By pushing themselves to find other places and levels in their music, Apocalyptica opened up to some seemingly unorthodox methods and emotions while travelling through that creative process.

“These new songs have so many layers and are so complex, and it’s not always easy to point exactly what they are about,” Toppinen expresses. “But I think that’s also the beauty of instrumental music, that the listener always can feel free to experience the same songs in very, very different ways. It’s also one reason why we don’t want to explain the songs before they’re experienced.”

Picture

In support of the release of Cell-0, Apocalyptica will Special Guest with Sabaton on a 15-country, 23-date European arenas tour, including an appearance at Wembley Arena on February 8th 2020. All confirmed dates are below.

Italian sludge instrumentalists Juggernaut release first track off of upcoming album ‘Neuroteque’

Italian sludge merchants Juggernaut return with their most complex, powerful and strongly evocative instrumental record to date. They share a first single taken from their cinematic sludge metal masterpiece "Neuroteque", due out October 11th on Subsounds Records.

Listen to Orbitalia NOW!

Neuroteque, the place where everything is allowed, where everything takes the risk of becoming something else. Urban and science fiction scenarios overlap with bucolic and mystical incursions, sweet lullabies turn into screams, a stealthy step becomes a crazy ride.

On their upcoming, third album, the four-piece band Juggernaut from Rome, Italy, deliver seven tracks as the seven different doors to enter Neuroteque: A lisergic menu of cinematic progressive, metallic psychedelia, mellow and disturbing atmospheres. This record holds seven stories of harmonic and emotional transformation, seven winding paths towards Neuroteque.

Says the band:-

"Neuroteque is a new step forward in the research and definition of the way we think music. It certainly picks up where "TRAMA!" left off, but new images and emotions shuffle the cards towards a more abstract, kaleidoscopic and exciting trip. We are immensely proud and anxious to share our new studio work with everyone! "

Keeping true to the tradition of one-letter album titles, the band named their upcoming track "T". This is Krvvla’s 5th release since their formation in 2015. Belarusian Instrumentalists Essence Of Datum premiere video for "Pendulum" via No Clean Singing

Instrumental progressive metal band Essence Of Datum have teamed up with No Clean Singing to premiere the music video for the song "Pendulum". The track has been taken from the band's upcoming record "Spellcrying Machine", to be released via Season of Mist on August 30th.

Check out the video at No Clean Singing at the link below:

https://www.nocleansinging.com/2019/06/26/an-ncs-video-premiere-essence-of-datum-pendulum/

Essence Of Datum comment:-

"One of the favourite buildings in our home town is Minsk city crematorium! The comprehension of the fact that there's a very high probability that our physical presence in this world will end up there and the bodies will be committed to flames, puts a veil of peculiar magic on this place. Walking in the halls of crematorium you cannot but notice giant pendulums that stand still symbolizing frozen time. It is the pendulum that gives more emphasis to the present before the inevitable end to come thus leaving us greedily gasping for the moments remaining. The pendulum in 'Spellcrying Machine' holds a special place and we'd like to set off a story with this composition. Until then, let the Pendulum swing!"

One does not always need words to convey a story. If there’s anything that instrumental progressive metal duo Essence Of Datum proves, it’s that the power of music can do just that. ‘Spellcrying Machine’, the band’s third full-length, is set for an August release on Season of Mist and is bound to open up their creation to a wider audience.

Essence Of Datum was formed by guitarist Dmitry Ramanouski in 2011 in Minsk, Belarus. After recording the first demos, the musician was joined by drummer Pavel Vilchytski who quickly became an irreplaceable part of the band as the man behind the machine-gun rhythm section.

From the very beginning, the project was meant to be purely instrumental, thus not giving the listener verbal or lexical means to comprehend or interpret the conceptual universe of the music. Providing fans with mere hints hidden in the artwork and track titles, the musicians challenge the listener to use their own imagination to explore the universe that Essence Of Datum created. Each album is part of a larger, fictional universe and ultimately, everything is bound together in one single story.

In 2013, the journey set off with the release of debut album 'Event Horizon.' the duo paint there a picture of a surrealistic world by means of soaring guitar melodies and groovy rhythms with an unbelievable technical precision. The second full-length 'Nevermore' (2017) opened a new chapter in which the Essence Of Datum universe was tainted by war, struggle, and fear, transformed by the band into powerful songs with melodic grace.

Set against the backdrop of a post-apocalyptic world, the band’s third record, 'Spellcrying Machine', synthesizes the best of extreme, modern metal into an elegant and articulate whole.Essence Of Datum invites you to explore their universe.

Renowned Danish composer and classically trained multi-instrumentalist, Myrkur’s, recent full-length release Mareridt was the recipient of Metal Hammer’s prestigious Album Of The Year Award at last night’s Golden Gods Ceremony, as chosen by the magazine’s editorial staff! A full list of winners is available here.

Mareridt is available for purchase via Relapse.com HERE and on all digital retail outlets HERE.
A full collection of Myrkur’s music videos and live performances is available AT THIS LOCATION.
On Mareridt (translation: Nightmare), Myrkur explores deeper into the mysterious and the feminine with 11 songs that further progress her visionary blend of metal with gorgeous, stirring melodies, dark folk passages, choral arrangements and superb, horrific beauty. The conceptual masterpiece includes lyrics in multiple languages, an unforgettable collaboration with Chelsea Wolfe and an array of special instrumentation including violin, mandola, folk drums, nyckelharpa (an ancient Swedish key harp), and Kulning (an ancient Scandinavian herding call).

Like a marriage of King Diamond's 'Them' with Tchaikovsky's 'Swan Lake', Mareridt is a carefully composed concept freed from genre - a profound manifestation of nightmares that demonstrates Myrkur as one of the truly exceptional artists of our time. The compositions sweep into one another like a soundtrack designed to guide the listener through emotional turmoil. Timeless, triumphant, powerful and hypnotic, Mareridt is a sonic nightmare that you never want to escape.
