Finnish Cinematic Metallers Dark Sarah sign with Napalm Records; new album "Grim" out July 17th; pre order now
Finnish cinematic metal icons Dark Sarah have officially signed a worldwide contract with Napalm Records! Over the course of eight years and three epically conceptualized albums, the band has proven their standing in the scene. As a classically-educated opera singer and experimental performer, Heidi Parviainen (formerly of Amberian Dawn), created her alter ego with Dark Sarah and fascinates listeners with their talent for unique soundscapes in symbiosis with truly magical worlds.
Known for their incredible storytelling that coalesces perfectly into an unbreakable bond with their music, Dark Sarah are ready to start a new, mesmerizing journey with Napalm Records and their brand new upcoming epos, Grim, hitting stores on July 17, 2020!
Heidi Parviainen on the signing:-
“We are very happy and excited to start a new era in our band´s history and to start collaborating with Napalm Records, one of the biggest metal labels in the world! After working as an independent band for many years, we have got a good view on that path - both in good and bad. This is a new opportunity for us, which we´ll welcome with open arms!”
Cinematic metal icons Dark Sarah start an astonishing new fairytale-like storyline with their fourth studio album, Grim. The beguiling new dimension, coalescing between crystal-clear vocals and propulsive hardness, draws you into the tempestuous maelstrom of their horror fantasy theme. Introducing the new protagonist, Luna, the band invites you to their mythical world of orbs, ravens, rabbit-headed people and Mörk, that’ll wrap you up in a surreal dreamscape.
The overwhelming intensity of Dark Sarah’s masterfully told cinematic metal saga sends shivers down your spine and takes possession of heart and soul, while leaving you with pure emotions. Grim flourishes with its full magnitude, unfolding its potential with every very second.
Singer Heidi Parviainen on Grim:
“Our new album called Grim is a concept album like its predecessors, but Grim will start a new story line with a modern horror fantasy theme. Musically, Grim introduces a more modern sound and a taste of what's to come in the future - with a “DARK SARAH twist", of course. We´re very happy about this album and it has been really fun to make. Also creating the new visual brand and the Grim world has been an adventure already!”
DARK SARAH is:
Heidi Parviainen – vocals
Sami-Petri Salonen – guitar
Erkka Korhonen – guitar
Rude Rothstén – bass
Thomas Tunkkari – drums
Finnish death metallers Torchia have unleashed their new video 'Plague Peasant' in support of their second album "The Coven" due out March 27th via Rockshots Records.
Watch it at the following link: https://youtu.be/t9z9Q_dMrn4
Plus available on
Edward Torchia adds about the track:-
"The up-tempo single ‘Plague Peasant’ is heavily driven by the melodic lead guitar, which has been the trademark of many Finnish melodic death metal bands, but not so often for Torchia. This song is somewhat an homage to our great countrymen and another favourite for all fans of old-school melodic death and Finnish sound."
Arising from the inner darkness of composer and lyricist Ville Riitamaa, Torchia takes inspiration from a multitude of metal subgenres and their mission is to revitalize the genre of melodic death metal by bringing in a sense of danger and unpredictability.

Progressive metal act Treatment from the northern city of Rovaniemi, Finland, releases a single from their upcoming album
Listen to the single:
"As above, so below, as within, so without, as the universe, so the soul." - Hermes Trismegistus
Vocalist Juha Kemppanen states:-
"Interpretations of the sentence are many and as a subject it's enormous. Because of that our purpose is to challenge the viewer to make their own conclusions. For example, one branch of my own interpretation is based strongly on old Finnish saying "niin makaa kuin petaa". Every deed you do, or leave undone will have an impact to everything else. Trying to live without remorse and one day at a time. Don't fantasize about glorious afterlife, but instead by your choices and actions, make an everyday life a paradise for yourself and for those close to you."
Finland’s multi-Platinum cello-metalers Apocalyptica release their brand-new track and music video, ‘Live Or Die’ featuring guest vocals from Sabaton’s Joakim Brodén via Silver Lining Music.
The song boasts an undeniably dynamic liaison in heavy metal - the spellbinding music of Apocalyptica and the potent, iconic vocals of Sabaton’s Joakim Brodén coming together to create a fierce battle cry focused on the desecration of our planet. ‘Live Or Die’ was composed by Apocalyptica and recorded in Finland with Apocalyptica and Martin Hansen (Scorpions) producing. The video, directed by Ville Juurikkala and filmed in Berlin, is a fiery performance piece that features Brodén on vocals.
Apocalyptica and Sabaton have a new but notable history of collaboration. Most recently, the two bands recorded a version of the 2010 Sabaton track ‘Angels Calling’ released in November 2019, with a companion music video. In addition, Apocalyptica was Special Guest on Sabaton's just-concluded, critically acclaimed, SRO, 15-country European tour, that included Apocalyptica joining Sabaton onstage every night for a half dozen songs. As one UK reviewer wrote, “The chemistry between the two bands was absolutely incredible. Apocalyptica were throwing around their cellos just as hard as Sabaton were throwing around their guitars.”
In support of their current studio album release, the all-instrumental Cell-0, Apocalyptica - cellists Eicca Toppinen, Perttu Kivilaakso, Paavo Lötjönen and drummer Mikko Sirén - will kick off the first leg of their 2020 North American tour on May 3rd in Orlando, Florida. The band will bring their moving and live performances to 20 cities over a three-week period wrapping up on May 26th in Boston, MA. With a set list that will vary night to night, Apocalyptica's performances will be comprised of new songs from Cell-0 as well as from the band's rich catalogue. Lacuna Coil will support on all North American dates.
Whilst Europe will enjoy one of the most engaging, exciting and ‘Apocalyepic’ events of the year this coming Autumn 2020, when the cello metal giants Apocalyptica unite with Epica to entertain audiences all over the continent, from Budapest to Barcelona, on the Epic Apocalypse Tour. The two will co-headline, showing both a refreshing camaraderie and lack of ego, and will be joined by the exciting, progressive metal band Wheel, who will open each night with their engaging time-defying grooves and deep social exploration.

APOCALYPTICA EUROPEAN 2020 DATES
Finnish melodic death metal band Babylonfall is set to release their debut album 'Collapse' on April 24th 2020 by Inverse Records. The band released a second single Murder of Crows along with music video and it is available here: https://youtu.be/A6fyjAYkNtM
Vocalist Okko Solanterä comments:-
""Murder Of Crows" is in a way our love letter to old school melodic death. Straightforward and a little bit of flirting with Swedish metal. The lyrics go through conflicts with the self and the world, and the rest I'll leave to the imagination. The music video was shot in the beautiful (and haunted) Anjala Mansion. Our drummer Mikko had a fever, but he pulled through like a champ! The whole band is super happy with the results, as the video beautifully supports the feeling of the song! It's easy to stand proudly behind it."
The album consists of ten versatile metal tracks, which show a wide range of influences. Lyrical themes of the album deal with “collapsing” on a personal and societal level. There are also sci-fi-themes as an added bonus.
“Collapse” was forged during late 2018 and early 2019 at Deep Noise Studios in Kouvola, Finland. It was recorded and mixed by Saku Moilanen. Mastering was done at Fascination Street Studios in Sweden by Tony Lindgren.

"The Daughters" is the first of two singles that are to be released in the spring of 2020. Alike the EP also this release will feature a music video. The song itself starts out very fast paced and fades out to a dark but beautiful atmospheric outro. Throughout the song the listener is taken relentlesly forward through the story accompanied by the strong vocals. The song is mixed by Juhamatti Kauppinen of ShedStudios and mastered by the legendary Mika Jussila of Finnvox (Children of Bodom, Nightwish).
Listen to "The Daughters"
"The lyrics tell a story of real life that has been raised into more theatrical proportions. As usual we are not going to go into details what exactly the song is about to us. We want to leave the listener the freedom to create their own visualisation of it, what it means to them."
Voidfallen signed a booking deal with Heavy Metal Heart Agency at the end of the year 2019 and are preparing for the new releases and shows of 2020.

Mikael Nurmi comments:
“Album is melodic, versatile, interesting, catchy and there´s more female singing than
before since Anna joined the band. New solo guitarist Toni also joined the band. After some setbacks the band is planning lots of gigs and will be stronger than ever.
Many different elements can be heard. Orchestral sounds, punk, industrial, black metal and surprising stuff. That´s what Star Insight is all about. It´s sad, happy and surprising at the same time."
The album is mixed and mastered by Kimmo Perämäki (Spiritus Mortis, Masquerade, Celesty)

Melancholic melodic death metal band Slow Fall from up north the Finnish city of Oulu has released a new single "Exile The Day".
Listen to the single:
Apple Music: https://apple.co/2w8mLLP
"Exile the Day is one of those easier to approach songs on the album. The song itself is a nice mix of heavy riffs, melancholic spirit and it has maybe the most versatile vocal performance on the whole album. Exile the Day is the third single from the upcoming debut album "Beneath the Endless Rains", out in spring 2020." guitar player Juho Viinikanoja backgrounds.
Slow Fall was founded by bassist and songwriter Markku Kerosalo in the year 2016. Since then the band has gone through a few line-up changes until its current form in 2019, including Markus Taipale (vox), Aki Pusa (drums), Heikki Kakko (gtr), Juho Viinikanoja (gtr) and Markku Kerosalo (bass). Band's first EP "The First Ones to Fall" was released in the year 2017. Back then the band's music was much more into the melodic doom metal sound which has now gone through a lot of progression and evolving.
Slow Fall took the year 2018 to write songs for the debut album and started the recordings for it in the early 2019. The new music really shows all the colours in band's own spectrum, from the heavy blastbeat drumming and stormy riffing to the more mellow and atmospheric stuff.
The single release Across the Cold shows the heavier and faster sound of the upcoming album. https://youtu.be/zy9TToYUD3U

Finnish Melodic Pop Metallers Amberian Dawn unveil title track and official video, “Looking For You”
ABBA-Metal pioneers Amberian Dawn just released their third single, the title track “Looking For You”, along with an official video via Napalm Records. In a nutshell, this high voltage fusion perfectly represents the upcoming album and its poetic sound.
The official video for “Looking For You" aesthetically mirrors the conflict between memories, desires and leaving your ancient life behind. Monumental melodic vocal lines that remind of the Swedish pop giants ABBA pair with strong keyboard-driven, 80’s pop influenced sounds and merge with heavy drums and guitar riffs into an impressive genre-fluid creation. This addictive mix can only be described as follows – Finnish ABBA-Metal at its finest! Amberian Dawn developed their style and spiced it up by entering and creating a new musical universe.
”This is the Crown Jewel of the album. This song is exactly what so-called ABBA-Metal is all about. Haunting and dramatic keyboards, strong melodies and tons of vocal tracks. I worked closely with Finnish synthesizer artist Kebu to achieve this wonderful vintage keyboard sound. I let myself go into world of 80’s synthesizer music and then my band mates helped me to arrange the song into an Amberian Dawn-song.“
