Masterful Norwegian storytellers Wardruna sign to Sony Music/Columbia Records for the world, and announce European tour dates for 2020. Dates below with tickets going on sale on 11th October at 10am BST, 11am CEST. Details of the upcoming album shall be revealed in due course.
Einar Selvik comments:
“Wardruna has been a DIY to-the-bone kind of project since the very beginning. Slowly and patiently evolving. Working hard and always keeping the art itself as the primary decisive factor. This will never change for me, and so having people on our team that also embrace this way of working is paramount. Partnering up with Sony Music / Columbia Records is a new steppingstone for us and I am very confident that this new addition to the team will give us new opportunities to further develop our art and take it to the next level.”
2019 marks ten years since Wardruna’s first release. A series of sold out shows at prestigious concert venues around the world culminate in the highlight of the fall; Wardruna will perform in the legendary Red Rocks Amphitheater in the United States, followed by sold out European tour. The group's critically acclaimed “Runaljod” trilogy based on the Nordic runes reached its conclusion and was followed by a stripped-down, fully acoustic album exploring the ancient poetic traditions of the Skalds. This spring, a new chapter for the band will start. New music is being worked on as well as further steps in the band´s concert production.
“I don’t wish to reveal too much at this point but can say that we are now deep into the process of writing and recording a new album. When Wardruna gets up from the current studio-hibernation and initiate the concert-year of 2020, it is clearly allowed to hope for new music!" Says Einar Selvik.

Bristling with an epically baroque life and energy, Finland’s multi-Platinum cello-rockers Apocalyptica have unveiled their brand new single ‘Ashes Of The Modern World.’ The song is taken from Cell-0, their upcoming ninth studio album, released on January 10th via Silver Lining Music.
The powerful video was directed by the award-winning Finnish photographer/videographer Ville Juurikkala who has worked with a wide variety of prominent artists from Guns N’ Roses and Aerosmith to opera singer Andrea Bocelli.
The recording of Cell-0 followed a four-year break between albums that gave the band - Eicca Toppinen, Perttu Kivilaakso, Paavo Lötjönen, and Mikko Sirén, all of whom are classically-trained musicians - a fresh perspective and affected the way they approached the new music. The album sees them return to their roots and is the quartet’s first instrumental album in 17 years, finding Apocalyptica challenging themselves to discover new flavours and colours in their respective instruments.
“It is tough to express without lyrics, but in Cell-0, we found particles of our universe previously unknown to us,” they explained. “Millions of notes combine to create music just as millions of cells combine to create life, and when you visualize the whole thing, similar patterns appear.”
Produced by Apocalyptica, mixed by Andrew Scheps (Red Hot Chili Peppers, Lana Del Rey, Metallica and Black Sabbath), and recorded at Sonic Pump Studios in Helsinki, Cell-0 sees the band soaring into ethereal space on ‘Ashes Of The Modern World,’ while diving head-first into aggressive thrash cello-riffery during ‘En Route To Mayhem.’
Rather than put strategic attention on aspects like writing singles, the band approached Cell-0 as a fully-formed piece of art, connecting the right details and hues with the energy of being a real cello-metal band. By pushing themselves to find other places and levels in their music, Apocalyptica opened up to some seemingly unorthodox methods and emotions while travelling through that creative process.
“These new songs have so many layers and are so complex, and it’s not always easy to point exactly what they are about,” Toppinen expresses. “But I think that’s also the beauty of instrumental music, that the listener always can feel free to experience the same songs in very, very different ways. It’s also one reason why we don’t want to explain the songs before they’re experienced.”
In support of the release of Cell-0, Apocalyptica will Special Guest with Sabaton on a 15-country, 23-date European arenas tour, including an appearance at Wembley Arena on February 8th 2020. All confirmed dates are below.

Torchia, the rising name of Finnish melodic death metal, has been working on their second full-length album this year, to be released in spring 2020. The first single from the upcoming album bears title "Moon, Rise!" and is a proper glimpse of band’s new material. The ambitious music video for the opening single was made together with Obliviart Productions.

Although Torchuia has spent most of their time this year in the studio, many big things has happened meanwhile. Early this year, the band signed a management and booking agreement with Heavy Metal Heart Agency. Last August the band performed at the Dark River Festival in Kotka, and in October the band will perform at the Heavy Metal Heart Festival in Helsinki alongside Equilibrium (DE).
Edward Torchia the frontman and singer comments:-
”The oppressive main guitar riff of Moon, Rise! always gave me a vision of a person running away from something, so we wanted to have a pursuit on the music video. It was obvious who’d be hunting down the Moon Child and we were honoured to have our friends from Black Royal play the role of the evildoers. The witch was played by Kaisa Riitamaa, sister of our guitarist and songwriter Ville Riitamaa. We are ever grateful for their haunting performances!”
Torchia's debut album "Of Curses And Grief" (2017) received lots of praising feedback from critics both in Finland and abroad. The album was also ranked by Inferno Magazine as the seventh best domestic release in 2017.
There's plenty to look forward to with the new album, as the album's backing team includes such hard-core professionals as producer Hiili Hiilesmaa (HIM, Ensiferum, Sentenced), and Ted Jensen, an American mastering mogul who’s worked with such huge bands as Metallica, Behemoth and Kreator.

Lamori are proud to present their new single and official video ”An Angel By Your Side”.
Statement about the single:
”An Angel By Your Side” is the third single from our upcoming album “Neo Noir”. Driven by a big catchy chorus, the song also has some interesting electronic parts. Overall we believe the song will appeal to both old and new fans alike."

"For this one we stepped up the production a bit from our previous videos. Apart from a great performance by the band, it also features acting by Sabina Melander. Her presence adds a lot of emotion to this video. All this is filmed by our friend Therese Andersson, that we have worked with many times before on previous projects. The story of the video follows the theme of the lyrics in the song, but also leaves room for interpretation by the viewer."
Finnish melodic metal band Blackstar Halo have released their second full length album. Siren is a ambitious album packed with melodic metal and groovy riffs.
Listen to the Siren:
Band comments on the new album:
"It took about eight years of hard work, sweat, tears and pain to create "Siren" , but now as it is released, we surely feel relieved that it is now out of our hands and got its chances. The world has changed radically during the process, both generally and what comes to consuming music. Yet we feel that the album is not a relic from the past, but a relevant piece of work also to today's music lovers."
The sound of the "Siren" could be described as a combination of Gothenburg metal (In Flames) and a hint of contemporary low tuned riffwork (Stam1na) with swedish production magic from Fascination Street Studios: Johan Örnborg mixing & Jens Bogren mastering. Album was partly crowdfunded and produced by the band independently. The theme of the album is temptation in many of its forms. Lyrics are not woven together thematically but most of the stories involve temptations in one way or the other, hence the name "Siren". Musically "Siren" flirts with many periods, synths from the 80's, power metal of the 90's and riffs from present day, hopefully creating an enjoyable 47 minutes of relevant music for metal consumer in 2019.
Blackstar Halo was originally formed in 1998. At the time the band was called Downfall. In 2009 Downfall's path came to an end and the band transformed to ”Blackstar Halo” - with a new lineup and direction. Blackstar Halo released it's debut album "Illuminated" in 2010. The album was pre-released nationwide in then prominent film rental chain ”Filmtown”. Along the album, a music video was released from the title song "Illuminated" made by Energia productions and Obscure entertainment (the makers of Star Wreck and Iron Sky).
Blackstar Halo presented their live skills in winter 2010 with Lacuna Coil and toured Finland with Scar Symmetry. The first time the band performed at international stages with current line-up, was at Copenhagen Live festival in Denmark with Rammstein, Bullet for my valentine, Slash and others.
Canadian Speed Metallers Warsenal sign with Svart Records for the release of their new album 'Feast Your Eyes'
Montreal, Canada-based speed metal trio, Warsenal, has joined forces with Svart Records for the release of their Feast Your Eyes full-length. Slated for worldwide release November 15th, the anticipated follow-up to 2015's debut Barn Burner boasts the band's most forward-thinking assortment of speed / thrash metal hymns to date and is sure to snap the necks of younger fans, alongside worshippers of the old school à la Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, and Anthrax.
Comments Warsenal guitarist/vocalist Mathieu Rondeau:-
"We're really excited to be signing with Finnish label Svart Records. They have a great international visibility and are very well respected among musicians and fans alike. This makes us very honoured to be taking over the world of metal under their flag. I think that with Feast Your Eyes, we've really grasped what is the 'Warsenal sound' and how we want to go from there. It's still raw and filled to the brim with crazy riffs flying everywhere, but the production quality and the song structures have really taken on major improvement; call it maturity I guess. The songs are all very different and unique, while keeping the Warsenal energy and the madness people dug on the first album. A lot of surprises and jaw-dropping is to be expected. It's definitely not your typical, generic thrash or speed metal album."
Further details on Feast Your Eyes, including track teasers and pre-orders will be unveiled in the weeks to come.
Warsenal released a three-song demo in 2012 and immediately started performing live that same year. The demo quickly grasped the attention of a Japanese festival organizer who invited the band to perform on True Thrash Fest in February 2013 alongside the likes of legends Exciter, Violator, and Sabbat. The band gained further notoriety upon their return home where they played shows incessantly throughout Canada. Since the release of their 2015 debut Barn Burner, Warsenal has remained an active live act having toured the US, Canada, and Mexico and appearing at various metal fests including Full Terror Assault with Overkill, Venom Inc., Crowbar, Goatwhore, Toxic Holocaust, and more.
Stay tuned for further Warsenal live invasions to be announced soon.

Today, melodic metal titans Sonata Arctica herald the start of the cold season as the group releases their 10th studio album Talviyö (Winter Night), via Nuclear Blast. To mark the occasion, the Finns have launched a brand new music video for 'Who Failed The Most', which was produced by renowned director Patric Ullaeus (rEvolver Film Company; DIMMU BORGIR, ENSLAVED, IN FLAMES etc.). Watch it over on YouTube: youtu.be/ZQT292b8E88
Keyboardist Henrik 'Henkka' Klingenberg states:-
"The wait is finally over, now all of you will hear what we've been working on for the past year or so as we present our latest album "Talviyö". It was quite an experience getting this album ready for you guys and for the first time ever, we had some outside help from our very own Mikko Tegelman who produced the album. We focused on playing live this time and I think the album really captures how Sonata Arctica sounds like today. It will be a blast to go out and perform this new music alongside selected cuts from our catalogue. See you soon and meanwhile we hope you enjoy the album as much as we did making it.
It's also time for the second video of "Talviyö", 'Who Failed The Most' is one of the more approachable songs on the album and we worked with Patric Ullaeus once again to create the video. We took advantage of the nice Finnish summer and shot our performance outside for a change, which turned out quite cool. You'll probably hear this song throughout the Talviyö World Tour« that's starting right now in North America and from there we'll continue to Europe and the rest of the world. Cheers!"
Talviyö was recorded between September 2018 and May 2019, produced by Mikko Tegelman and Sonata Arctica in 'Studio57'. Additional recordings took place in various other places. "Mikko produced the album and he really managed to push us to do our best, even with the more experimental stuff. Working with an outside producer was the biggest new thing we tried this time", says Henrik "Henkka" Klingenberg.
The mixing was done by Mikko Tegelman and Pasi Kauppinen and the mastering was handled by Svante Forsbäck for 'Chartmakers'.
Hollow Thoughts is an alternative-metal band emerging from Kuopio, Finland. The band has already gained attention from heavy music media's with earlier singles released via Inverse Records: Half Deceased (2018) and Scarred Generations (2019) and now, the third single Path turns the course towards even more melodic and hook-filled direction.
Check the music video: https://youtu.be/-1jamSkGoqg
Listen to the single:
The band comments on the new single:
"Our third single Path is an exiting and new thing for us because it’s the first song that we shot a music video for. Themes of the song are pretty deep and dark which is typical for us but there’s also a certain sense of hopefulness as well. The song is in a sense a story about seeking the right way and letting go of the things that keep us from finding it. Video on the other hand underlines the less obvious gloomy undertone that is inevitably present when seeking a new course for life. In the end anxiety gets the better of the main character so there are no happy endings in this story."
