South African brutal death horde Vulvodynia slam with new single / video 'Artificial Divinity'

Picture

Brutal death metal slammers Vulvodynia have released their blistering new single / video 'Artificial Divinity' via Unique Leader Records.

One of the most groundbreaking metal bands to emerge from South Africa, Vulvodynia have returned with their first new track since the release of 2021's Praenuntius Infiniti LP. The self-proclaimed 'Kings of African Metal' have released their most earth-shaking salvo yet with 'Artificial Divinity' - the introductory offering from their yet-to-be-announced sixth studio album.

  • Watch the video here: https://youtu.be/X2NQ0kOmp64
  • Check out the new track on streaming platforms here: https://orcd.co/artificialdivinity

The band commented:

"‘Artificial Divinity’ is about the eventual evolution of humanity by means of A.I. The idea of the extinction of all biological matter, as A.I. becomes sentient and runs afoul of all of humanity’s perversions. We decided to use A.I. generated artwork to fully round off the theme!

We had been planning out what we thought the perfect single would consist of for a while. Combining elements from our old material, as well as giving the fans something they’ve never heard or experienced from us before, all while staying true to who we are as Vulvodynia. This song is a special one and we can't wait to hear what you think!”

Vulvodynia are:

  • Duncan Bentley: Vocals
  • Luke Haarhoff: Guitar
  • Kris Xenopoulos: Guitar
  • Lwandile Prusent: Guitar
  • Chris Van Der Walt: Bass
  • Thomas Hughes: Drums

It is the climactic, hopeful and empowering song. Visually, it’s an ode to filmmakers like Ingmar Bergman and Denis Vileneuve; our first narrative-driven music video. Biography: Written by JP Pallais

Following the end of Wildernessking’s career, Keenan Oakes had to continue making music, despite the difficulties of playing in a metal band in Cape Town, South Africa. Regardless, Oakes joined forces with Crow Black Sky’s Gideon Lamprecht in 2018 to create the musical entity known as Constellatia. Taken from the word ‘constellation’, Constellatia refers to the nature of existence and the natural world, the cosmos, and extracting meaning and happiness from it all. The band’s somber take on progressive black metal encapsulates inherently human subjects; a distillation of life’s meander, sadness and tribulations.

Inspired by artists such as Opeth, Mastodon, The Cure, Primordial, Neurosis, Wolves in the Throne Room, Pink Floyd, Beach House, Agalloch, Emperor and Cult of Luna, Constellatia imbue their stark musical landscape with ferocity and reverie. Following the release of their debut record via Isolation Records in 2019, The Language of Limbs, Constellatia was very quick to garner the attention of listeners around the world, leading to their acknowledgement and subsequent signing to the large, independent record label, Season of Mist. While The Language of Limbs sounds bleak and tends to instil a sense of longing within the listener, it too sparks an idyllic feeling of catharsis with the mesmerizing atmospheric soundscapes and subtle intoxicating harmonies.

Now with Season of Mist’s support moving forward with their second record, Constellatia have the footing and foundation to fully expand on their musical endeavours. The new album which is set to release on November the 11th 2022, shows Constellatia continuing to evolve on their already mature sound, creating these larger-than-life romantic compositions that express the emotional spectrum of simply being; an amorphous progressive metal experience enriched with lavish ambiance and ripe with spirit, unique to them alone.

From the very start, the goal with Constellatia was to create emotionally dense and textured metal that is both transcendent and incredibly human. With the release of their upcoming record later this year, Constellatia will reveal just how much more dynamic and vulnerable their music has become. It may seem that the band is now hitting their stride, but they have only just begun. Plans are being made to tour the many corners of the world in support of their new album and subsequent releases.

To love
The wheels of this great turning
Dispel the grey aura you’ve known
Deepen the joy, stars aglow

South African post metallers Constellatia release video for "Empyrean"

Photo taken by Alexis Scholtz

South African post metallers Constellatia are releasing their official music video from "Empyrean" which can now be viewed via the official Season Of Mist channel HERE. "Empyrean" is taken from the full-album 'The Language of Limbs' which was released via Season of Mist on the 19th of June 2020.

A personal note from Keenan - Constellatia:

"I remember us wanting to write a very basic song, structurally speaking, so it takes on the verse / chorus / verse / chorus / bridge / chorus form; a pop song in essence. Thematically, Empyrean is about obsession and ecstasy, about unrelenting passion and being consumed by it all. The bridge is a musical highlight for us as a band so far, one of the special moments from The Language of Limbs. It feels good to close the chapter on this first incarnation, and to look ahead to the future and more music!"

But there's more! On the 15th of August 2022 Season of Mist will officially reveal the album title, cover artwork and release date of the brand new Constellatia album.

Their previous album 'The Language of Limbs' was originally released on November 15, 2019 and soon after, the four piece landed a worldwide record deal with Season of Mist. The pressings are available in various formats HERE.

Line-up:

  • Adam Hill - Rhythm guitar
  • Gideon Lamprecht - Lead guitar
  • Keenan Oakes - Bass, vocals
  • Lawrence Jaeger - Drums

South African post metal band Constellatia are announcing the re-release of their acclaimed debut album 'The Language of Limbs' on various physical formats. The new pressings will be out on June 19 and are available for pre-ordering HERE.

'The Language of Limbs' was originally released on November 15, 2019 and soon after, the four piece landed a worldwide record deal with Season of Mist. The album can already be found on all digital streaming platforms HERE.

Consttellatia comments:-

"We hope everyone is keeping safe during these unprecedented times. We are making the most of our interrupted lives by working on record number two. Today, we are thrilled to announce that pre-orders for the Season of Mist pressing of our debut album are now live, as well as a slew of new t-shirts (all designed by Rouleaux van der Merwe)."

Hailing from Cape Town, South Africa, Constellatia is the collaborative vision of Gideon Lamprecht and Keenan Oakes, founders of well-known acts Crow Black Sky and Wildernessking respectively.

'The Language of Limbs' is essentially a post-metal record with black metal and progressive influences, and a healthy dose of ambience and atmosphere; always deeply engaging with a flair for the romantic and nostalgic. "It is a record that came from a place of desperation; a musical outlet for the years of hardship both members endured in their personal lives." Gideon Lamprecht comments. "It's an album about obsession and overcoming. It's a triumphant record." adds Keenan Oakes.

Formed in September 2018, and enlisting the talents of a few key collaborators, Constellatia soon completed work on the beautiful and emotional ride that is 'The Language of Limbs'. While the drums (Played by Lawrence Jaeger) and vocals were engineered by Daniel Thackwray at City Varsity, Cape Town, all other instruments were recorded by Lamprecht at his home studio in Glencairn, where he also mixed and mastered 'The Language of Limbs'. The album features additional and high class guest vocalists, namely Alison Rachel of Honeymoan and renowned singer/songwriter Lucy Kruger, and is an absolute must-have for fans of Cult Of Luna, Opeth, Pink Floyd or Wolves In The Throne Room.

After one month of voting, nearly 6,000 votes cast and countless sharing across all social media platforms by us and nominees alike, the time has come to announce the winners of the GMA Awards 2019.

But before that happens, there will be a change to how the nominees are cast. For 10 months of the year we will be running a series of rounds from which the 10 finalists will be recognised for the annual event.

The system will work as thus: nominees elected in the month of January are voted for in February... February nominees voted in March, etc and finishes with nominees in October being voted for in November - the finalists will then be voted for across the month of December and into early January 2021; finishing 8th January 2021.

Now that's put out into the open, we can finally reveal the winners of the GMA Awards 2019.
