Latvian Heavy / Thrash Metal band Iron Wings release their new single "Devil's Lullaby" (taken from the band's upcoming album), check it out below:
The band had this to say about the single and upcoming album: "The main theme of the song is one of Shakespeare's most famous quotes "hell is empty and all the devils are here". The song and the upcoming album form parallels with the already released album “Dzejnieks” ("The Poet"). The main idea of the song is to make us to think about what we have become in less than a year, when even the closest people and friends in the saturated sea of views lose their humanity and are ready to tear each other apart in the name of only acceptable ideas. This fear, ignorance, intolerance of diversity of opinion is also the poison that poisoned our world and ourselves. Are we, the society that incites hatred, not the ones who create this hell in which we live?" Iron Wings are a heavy / thrash metal band from Riga, Latvia, who formed in 2016. Since then they have been sharing the stage with a lot of local bands and have shared the stage with a lot of foreign acts. In the music making process the band mixes together heavy and thrash metal, creating their own unique sound. At the end of 2017 they released the EP “Tumšie miglāji” (“Dark Nebulae”). In 2020 they released their new album “Dzejnieks” (“The Poet”). https://www.facebook.com/ironwingsband/ https://www.instagram.com/ironwingsband/ Varang Nord is a folk metal band from the cold woodlands of Latvia. Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UD04RxYsM54 Kristīne Neikena, who directed the video, says that main idea is there to remind that when it comes to Latvian history, “nothing is forgotten”, including the hardships and struggles of the Latvian people throughout the years. The video tells the story through the eyes of a young woman played by Maija Arvena, a rising Latvian film star. Her character's journey is an emotional and symbolic account of the pivotal moments in the history of a Latvian nation, its birth, hopes, rise, fall and, ultimately, rebirth and strength while national landmarks, nature and events feature in the background. Peter Kvetjovskis, Skyforger's vocalist, adds: “As we celebrate the centenary of Latvia's independence today on 18th November, we want to dedicate this video as an epitaph of sorts to all those whose lives were broken by all the wars and conflicts that have befallen our land, and to those who have made the ultimate sacrifice, so that future generations could live happily as a free and independent nation. The thing is, history tends to remember only the key figures, including the villains and monsters, while the lives of hundreds of thousands of “ordinary” folks slowly disappear and vanish from the nation's memory… Well, our song is about exactly these people and in their memory!” The video is directed by Kristīne NEIKENA, cameras by Mārtiņš EGLĪTIS and Tomass BEĶERIS, art direction by Elza BUKUMA, edited by Mārtiņš LAZDĀNS. We collaborate and negotiate to find a new sound. That particular album has fulfilled every band’s member demands. We encounter this for the first time”, - frontman Igor states. Preserving the original playing style with groovy drums and broken beats, melodic guitars are introduced into the tracks, filling the atmosphere with the cryptic sense. Lyrics should not be overlooked as well. The whole album is telling a story of one’s overwrought angst, inner struggle against uncertainty in front of the hopelessness, about the consciousness mending superior powers, putrefaction and lordship. “Method To Madness” will love not only the fans of metal music, but the sincere aesthetes of sound. For fans of: Meshuggah, Gojira, Lamb of god, Slipknot, Thy art is murder, Carnifex, Omega Diatribe, Decapitated, Heaven Shall Burn, Caliban, Chimaira, Parkway Drive.
