Australian Metalcore stalwarts The Amity Affliction release new song 'Catatonia'

ARIA-certified Australian metalcore trailblazers The Amity Affliction have released new song 'Catatonia.' The song is taken of their new album Everyone Loves You… Once You Leave Them. The album arrives 21st February and will be the band’s Pure Noise Records debut. It's available for pre-order here.

Listen to 'Catatonia' here.

Bassist Ahren Stringer says that:-

"If you listen carefully, you’ll hear this is a sister track to 'All My Friends Are Dead; we wrote it to bookend the album and keep it heavy fuckin' metal. Lyrically, I think it ties the whole theme of the album together and wraps up what Joel [Birch] is trying to get across. Even though everything might seem perfect from the outside, sometimes being broken on the inside can never truly be fixed."

The Amity Affliction — Joel Birch [vocals], Ahren Stringer [vocals, bass], Dan Brown [lead guitar], and Jon Longobardi [drums] — previously released the video for  "Soak Me In Bleach." Watch it here.
Prior to that, the band dropped "All My Friends Are Dead."

Both tracks represent some of the heaviest, most memorable material and the most relatable lyrics of the band's deeply personal catalog. As always, The Amity Affliction hold nothing back, allowing fans to get closer than ever on Everyone Loves You… Once You Leave Them.

"This album is a result of our re-found love for heavy music," The Amity Affliction says. "We wanted to make a heavier album to back up our most recent releases to let our fans know that we understand what the majority want to hear from us. We have experimented creatively over the years and are now able to apply what we’ve learnt to what we consider the perfect blend of Amity new and old."

Tool has won a GRAMMY Award® for Best Metal Performance (“7empest”).

Danny Carey (drums) and Justin Chancellor (bass) accepted the awards at today’s Premiere Ceremony in Los Angeles.

“7empest” is from the band’s fifth studio album: Fear Inocolum (RCA Records). The 10-song collection arrived in late August, debuting at #1 on Billboard’s Top 200. Critically, the album was met with equal enthusiasm. NPR said “Fear Inoculum was worth the 13-year wait,” The Atlantic dubbed it “precise and devastating,” Revolver declared it “a masterpiece that will be dissected for years to come” and Entertainment Weekly said the collection is “deeply satisfying, both as a distinct artistic statement and as accidental fan service to a base that expects nothing less than unflinchingly unique artistic statements.”

The Los Angeles-based band has previously won three GRAMMY Awards®: Best Metal Performance (1998, “Ænima”), Best Metal Performance (2002, “Schism”) and Best Recording Package (2007, 10,000 Days).

Tool formed in 1990, and have released five studio albums: Undertow (1993), Ænima (1996), Lateralus (2001),10,000 Days (2006) and Fear Inoculum (2019); two EPs: 72826 (1991) and Opiate (1992) and the limited-edition boxset Salival (2000). TOOL is Danny Carey (drums), Justin Chancellor (bass), Adam Jones (guitar) and Maynard James Keenan (vocals).

Polish Death Doom veterans Funeral Cult to release new EP "Possession Done" in February

28/1/2020

Lusitanian Music sets February 21, 2020 as an international release date for "Possession Done" - a new mini-album from legendary Polish metal band Funeral Cult, featuring three new tracks of uncompromising dark death-doom metal!

After «Korowody cieni» album and despite the turmoil of events with the band, Funeral Cult are working again on new material keeping their dark ambiance but giving their new tracks more death/doom atmosphere. Follow band's Facebook page for upcoming live events. Listen to band's preview and pre-order digipak CD at:

Funeral Cult was formed in 1993 by two friends Przemysław Pawlak (vocals) i Piotr Wilk (guitar). In a short time Karol Arkuszewski (drums) joined the band. They wanted to play severe and slow music which brings aura of sorrow, melancholy and dark. Lyrics were focused on Slavic people, their gods and funeral ceremonies and rites. All that described and shaped Funeral Cult’s soul. Finally Łukasz Jędrzejczyk (guitar) and Korsarz (bass) joined the band.

After few months of rehearsals the band recorded demo tape „In Tristitia Et In Lacrimis” at Radio Lodz – 4 death/doom metal tracks. This put things in motion. The band was interviewed by metal magazines and started to play some live shows. During all the time the band was working on the new stuff for the first full album. And in 1995, at Radio Lodz Studio again, they recorded 5 tracks. 50 minutes of death/doom metal but closer to doom metal from Great Britain represented by early Anathema or My Dying Bride with additional factor of Celtic Frost’s sound from „Into The Pandemonium”. They entitled the album „Korowody Cieni”. And the album was officially issued by Lusitanian Music from Portugal in 1996. In that time the line-up were: Piotr Wilk (guitar), Przemysław Pawlak (vocals), Karol Arkuszewski (drums), Sylwester Wilk (guitar), Paweł Matysiak (keyboards), Korsarz (bass). After „Korowody Cieni” there is one change in the line up, Korsarz leaves the band and Grzegorz Krom (bass) joins them.

In the meantime the band signs a contract with Polish label Millenium Records. They were supposed to record an EP, reissue „Korowody Cieni” and record their next full album. But everything went wrong and Millenium Records withdraws from the contract. Both parties ended in court. The trial lasted two years and the band was not able to do anything according to the contract conditions. This was the beginning of the end of Funeral Cult with their second album entitled „Mystery of Possession” recorded in 1998 and never issued.

In 2006 Karol Arkuszewski (drums) decided to reactivate the band. After 19 years he meets Piotr Wilk (guitar) again. They start to reshape new face of Funeral Cult and compose new tracks with a new millennium fresh approach but with the 90’s soul. Completing the line-up takes one year and Sylwester Wilk (guitar) and Grzegorz Krom (bass) join the band again. After Przemysław Pawlak (vocals) refusal they had to find new vocalist, this place was taken by Jacek Rybak. With this line-up the band starts to play live shows in 2018. They decided to play only two old songs – „The Wonderer” from „Korowody Cieni” and „Bojan’s Song” from „Mystery of Possession”. The rest of the songs are new ones. Before the end of 2018 Paweł Matysiak (keyborads) returns to the band. This was the last factor which let the band to hit with the full strike.

In April 2019 the band recorded three tracks at Heavy Gear Studio and tries to go to the open sea.

They contact Lusitanian Music again. After Portuguese label’s green light the idea of „Possession Done” EP was born...

American Progressive Metalcore crew Levels unveil their crushing new single & video "Encapsulate"

24/1/2020

Picture

Since their formation nearly half a decade ago, Arkansas based Levels have endeavoured to mix elements of technical metal and djent with metalcore and hardcore to create their own brand of heavy music. With "Encapsulate", their follow up to 2019's "Fade", the band has found a new and more focused sound that sets them apart from their peers in the younger heavy music scene.  Reminiscent of Veil of Maya, Architects, and Volumes mixed with shades of classic hardcore,  "Encapsulate" is a fresh look at the synthesis of djent and -core that succeeds as both a mosh anthem and a catchy a*s song.

Guest vocalist Josh Stewart channels anguish and anger with his clean vocals, complimenting the heavier elements of the track tastefully rather than as a throwaway feature. Producer Jeff Dunne (Motionless In White, Emmure, Fit For A King) brings out the best from each member of the band, with a highly refined but nonetheless intimate production style that captures each individual performance beautifully while making the entire song sound cohesive and absolutely huge.

“'Encapsulate’ is about a struggle with anxiety. It explains the thought process one might go through when they try their hardest to be the best they can be, but question if that is good enough. It questions whether or not we are just wasting our efforts...like it's all for nothing...if in the end we are always going to be exactly who we were meant to be"

The video, produced and edited by the bands drummer Dalton Kennerly, channels the groups volatile live energy in a beautifully captured black & white performance.

Theosophy is a Black Metal band from the heart of cold Siberia! The band was founded in winter 2004 by Phantom, but the project was frozen in ice till 2007 due to other activities. The bands first release came in 2008 with Russian label Musica Production which was the first split-CD in the label’s history. Theosophy and Bizarrekult were the participants of this release and the CD received good feedback and distribution in all parts of the world, from Brazil to Japan.

During spring and summer 2009 Theosophy recorded several new songs and in September 2009, they played as support act with the legendary Helheim during their visit to Siberia. In 2010, the band concentrated on live appearances with a new program and released their debut full-length album. The CD was been called …Out Of Decades and was followed in 2011 by In the Kingdom Of North. Both albums were released on No Colours Records. During the making of their next album, the band decides to divide the new material and make a conceptual work, which was called Eastland Tales. The two parts were released in 2014 and 2016.

Throughout this period, the band have played various live shows and festivals as both headliners and support in Russia and in spring 2019, Theosophy made it’s first European tour across Poland and Czech Republic. Over the 2 weeks the band played 7 gigs and received positive responses from a public.

The group's new album is titled Towers Of Dark Pantheon and will be released in 2020 via the Sliptrick Records.

Theosophy are:

Phantom – Vocals/Bass
Egiborg – Guitars
Eeks Eye – Keyboards
Skinner – Battery

Wednesday 13 debuts lyric video for 'Monster' (ft. Cristina Scabbia)

23/1/2020

Picture

Just days away from kicking off their North American tour, Wednesday 13 and his boo crew have debuted a new lyric video for the latest single, 'Monster' (Feat. Cristina Scabbia of Lacuna Coil) from their recently released album, 'Necrophaze,' that is available now from Nuclear Blast Records.

Watch the lyric video for 'Monster' here: https://youtu.be/FE_m7Ya9c6s

Purchase 'Necrophaze' here: http://www.nuclearblast.com/w13-necrophaze
Purchase 'Necrophaze' bundles here: https://theoraclemanagementmerch.com/collections/wednesday-13

“'Monster' is the 1st Wednesday 13 song recorded to feature guest vocals. I wanted something different than I had ever tried before and I wanted a female vocalist. Cristina was the perfect choice for this song. I gave her the lyrics and some minor details, and she came back with what you hear. She totally floored us with her amazing vocal range and adding a new element never heard on one of our songs before.” – Wednesday 13

“This collaboration was born from blackness. Wednesday and I are both fans of the darkest vision of art and music, and when I was asked to sing with him for the song 'Monster', I immediately visualized his concept and shared it with pleasure. What I love about this song is that some people in life are taking the worst out of us... but demonizing it all and pushing away the tension through notes is the best thing to do.” – Cristina Scabbia

Picture

Wednesday 13’s 8th studio album, 'Necrophaze,' is available now from Nuclear Blast Records. Featuring special guest appearances from, Alice Cooper, Roy Mayorga (Stone Sour), Alexi Laiho (Children Of Bodom), Jeff Clayton (GG Allin’s Murder Junkies) and Cristina Scabbia (Lacuna Coil) among others, 'Necrophaze' shocks and surprises with a cauldron of monster riffs and haunting lyrics and have listeners yearning for more.

Heavily influenced by real-life night terror occurrences of Wednesday himself, historical serial killers, and a slew of 80’s horror films, the ideas behind 'Necrophaze' are bizarrely familiar, frightening, and a hell of a lot of fun. Being a collector of both media and toys, Wednesday 13 was inspired by a craving for variety to create dual album artwork for this release (seen below). The covers showcase either end of the horror spectrum with a 'Creepshow' comic book vibe for the LP artwork, and the eeriness of something akin to John Carpenter’s 'The Fog' adorning the CD.
