Just a few weeks from now the gates to Metalfest Loreley will open and from June 20 - 22 more than 30 handpicked bands are taking part that belong to the biggest, heaviest and most exciting acts the genre has to offer.
Bands like Slayer, Subway To Sally, Accept, Children of Bodom, Testament, Saxon, Doro, Down and many more are going to rock the Rhine Valley! Now three more unique bands have been confirmed for the Open Air event: Soulfly around metal icon Max Cavalera, the Norwegian Rock ‘n’ Roll / Metal / Hardcore new discovery Kvelertak and Dutch Symphonic Metallers Delain. Soulfly Icon Max Cavalera needs no introduction – this man wrote thrash metal history with Sepultura, and he created a genre of its own with his band Soulfly: tribal metal! Mammoth albums such as the recently released “Enslaved” (2012) fuse irresistible grooves with hefty thrash metal – a mixture guaranteed to set the 2013 edition of the Metalfest on fire!!! Further info: http://de.metalfest.eu/bands/soulfly/?lang=en Kvelertak were born under the wings of an owl: mighty Kvelertak from Norway! These passionate lovers of mean birds of prey turned a shitload of heads in 2010 with their self-titled debut – dirty rock reminiscent of Turbonegro, black metal, stoner, hardcore and Norwegian lyrics, anyone? A malevolent high energy mixture that carried them all the way to the top…where they will stay with their fantastic new album “Meir”! Further info: http://de.metalfest.eu/bands/kvelertak/?lang=en Delain started in 2005 by former Within Temptation keyboardist Martijn Westerholt, Delain released their debut "Lucidity“ in 2006. The Dutch act is famous for its unique brand of symphonic metal laced with melodies guaranteed to leave you craving for more – a mixture that made them regular guests in their home country`s charts. Recently the female fronted band pleased its fans with “Interlude”. Further info: http://de.metalfest.eu/bands/delain/?lang=en Get your tickets now! Doom Metal legends Cathedral are going out with a bang as they announce the release of their new music video for their song 'Tower Of Silence'. - The video can be seen above.
Inspired by classic cult British Film Institutions such as Amicus and Hammer House of Horror, 'Tower of Silence' was shot on location during the British Winter of 2012 at Gunnersbury Park Tower, London. It features a guest appearance from Purson's Rosalie Cunningham, who places a symbolic black orchid on the tombstone of each member in the clips closing scenes. Directed by UK based Paraffin City Productions, Tower of Silence will be the last full production promo video ever made by this British Doom Metal institution and is taken from their final album, "The Last Spire", out 29th April on Rise Above Records. Kylesa premiere “Quicksand,” a new song from their forthcoming album "Ultraviolet", (due to be released 28th May via Season of Mist), via Spin (http://www.spin.com/articles/kylesa-quicksand-ultraviolet-stream).
"'Quicksand' is a quick 2:35 of ghostly dreamdoom that joins the melodies of '90s shoegaze with the churn of modern sludge and a riff straight from the Billy Corgan playbook,” says Spin in a brief write-up accompanying the song stream, adding that the song is “a muscular swirl that should please anyone who thought m b v didn't have enough shouting.” The band has also unveiled the cover art for "Ultraviolet", which was done by Sean Beaudry. Beaudry, a fellow Savannah resident, did the artwork for the band’s "Time Will Fuse Its Worth" reissue. Pre-order bundles for the new album are available now via (http://e-shop.season-of-mist.com/en/predefined-search/37879). Track listing: 1. Exhale 2. Unspoken 3. Grounded 4. We’re Taking This 5. Drifting Kylesa will play a free, all ages show in their hometown of Savannah at The Dollhouse on 19th April as a way to thank fans for their ongoing support. Pitchfork, in the band’s first interview regarding "Ultraviolet" (http://pitchfork.com/features/show-no-mercy/9084-kylesa/), said of the album: “It’s the… heavy rock band’s darkest, most atmospheric record to date. The collection, which features an array of subtle electronic elements, makes for an expressive, immersive listen that will likely find the double-drumming quintet a larger audience.” “Unspoken,” also from "Ultraviolet", was released online in late February, leading Stereogum to say “… if the album’s first single is any indication, they’ve continued moving away from their peers as well as their own past, conquering new territory,” adding “it’s a total triumph.” The song can be streamed here: https://soundcloud.com/season-of-mist/kylesa-unspoken. www.facebook.com/kylesamusic www.kylesa.com Above you can see the Official Video for the track “Toxic” from “A Decade Of Drekkadence" Norwegian “True Norwegian Balkan Metallers” Trollfest have today released a video for a track that will feature on the upcoming 12” picture vinyl "A Decade Of Drekkadence", which the band is releasing in celebration of their 10th anniversary.

Each picture disc will include an email address that purchasers can contact to receive an MP3 download of “A Decade Of Drekkadence". Long-time Trollfest collaborators Swedish Cartoonist Jonas Darnell and designer Terje Johnsen have pulled out all the stops for the picture disc, which illustrates a selection of characters created by Darnell for various of the band’s releases, including the iconic metal duck from the “Villanden” album and the hellhound from the track “Helvetes Hunden Garm” which has been a consistent crowd pleaser at Trollfest live appearances."A Decade Of Drekkadence", will appear in time for the band’s first North American tour in March, when they will hit the road with Ensiferum, Tyr, Heidevolk and Helsott for the Paganfest Mexican, American and Canadian tour. The artwork for the album was painted by artist Eliran Kantor (Testament, Sodom, Hatebreed).
Evile drummer Ben Carter confirms that: "Evile are proud as hell to reveal the title and artwork for our fourth studio album on Earache Records, which is to be entitled 'Skull'. We'd like to extend our thanks to Eliran Kantor for his amazing artistic representation of our original concept, which we'll reveal further details of in the coming weeks. Our fans can expect this album to be a return to our thrashier roots, as well as exploring new ground in typical Evile form. We've always said we want to progress and move forward in everything we do, and this album is no exception. We're so amazed with everything Russ Russell and ourselves have produced, and can't wait for it to be released upon the masses! Watch this space for more updates and album details. "Skull" is coming... SKULL AWAITS YOUR SOUL!!!" Whilst Evile lead guitarist Ol Drake acknowledges that: "'Skull' is not what you think. 'Skull' is not where you think. 'Skull' is a mythical void in the deep fathoms of space." "Skull" will be available in a variety of formats on 27th May. The album will be released in Europe on Earache Records and in North America via Century Media / Earache Records. In other news Evile are celebrating this year's Record Store Day with the release of a limited edition 7" picture disc split with Swedish death metal legends Entombed. Artists confirmed to appear on "Raging Death" include: Kam Lee (Bone Gnawer, ex-Massacre), Jorgen Sandstrom (The Project Hate MCMXCIX, ex-Grave, ex-Entombed), Rogga Johansson (Paganizer a.o.) and Dan Swano (ex-Edge Of Sanity). Fans will hear the guest vocalists on "Death League". Kam Lee believes that: "Entrails is one of the best Death Metal bands around today hands down - and their track 'Death League' is just pure aggressive cut throat - true death metal in its most rawest and traditional form… the way death metal is meant to be played! When I was asked by the maniacs of Entrails to lend my death growl vomit to the mix I was honored. But the fact that I'm sharing growls alongside other such legendary Swedish death metal vocalist - makes the brutality of the track even more so shredding!! Like a cannibal mutant feeding frenzy of blood soaked gore… this track will make you bleed from the inside out!" Dan Swano stated that he loves "Working with Entrails. Their catchy brand of Death Metal is right up my alley. And when I heard that Kam Lee, Jorgen Sandstrom and some other major dudes we're gonna join forces in a track, I happily accepted the invitation without to blink. A kick ass experience indeed! Make sure you hear it!!" Rogga Johansson acknowledges that "When asked to do some growling on a track by Entrails all I could think was "Fuck yes!". I've been a fan of the band for a long, long time, as I had old recordings on a tape I got from a friend. And when I learned that I'd be in such awesome company as the legends guesting, I was even more happy about it! And the song fucken' crushes!" Jorgen Sandstrom agrees that he: "Did not hesitate a second when Adde asked me to do some vocals for the new Entrails album but I had no idea that I was supposed to be in a song with these Sickos!!! If I knew I would had said yes in Planck time!! Death League FTW!" Make sure to head over at metalblade.com/entrails to check out the artwork for "Raging Death", as well as the first single "In Pieces"! ENTRAILS comments on Raging Death: "This is the perfect next step for ENTRAILS. A massive stench of death, right in your face! 'Raging Death' as a title suited the album as a whole, since it's pure death metal without mercy!" Raging Death was recorded in different studios, the drum recordings took place at the Racetrack studios while the basis recordings were done at Jimmy Lundqvist's own The Crypt recording studios. The album was mixed and mastered by Dan Swano at Unisound. Raging Death track listing: 1. In Pieces 2. Carved To The Bone 3. Blood Hammer 4. Headless Dawn 5. Cadaverous Stench 6. Descend To The Beyond 7. Death League 8. Chained And Dragged 9. Defleshed 10. Cemetery Horrors ENTRAILS formed in the '90s, but split up before they were able to release a demo or even an album. It took them until 2008 to come back when guitarist Jimmy Lundqvist rediscovered some old tapes. In a moment of nostalgia, he decided that they deserved to be released as they should have been originally. With modern recording technology, the first ENTRAILS demo could finally take shape. After releasing another demo in 2009, ENTRAILS recorded and released their debut album, Tales From The Morgue, in 2010. Just a year later, The Tomb Awaits was released, an album that gained worldwide attention of music fans of the extreme and was considered by many as the best death metal release of 2011. ENTRAILS have played numerous prestigious festivals in 2012 including gigs at Party.San Open Air, Summer Breeze Open Air and Hell Inside festival.
