Andy Clarke, known primarily for fronting death / doom metal act The Crawling, has released details of his new solo project "Sollein." The music is penned as more of a black metal approach, focusing on depressive subject matter, and delving into even darker places than his usual lyrical themes. The first single, "Another Side of Sadness" is due for a digital release on all major platforms Friday 18th December via Presolus Records, a 3-track EP will follow. Andy commented:- “I sometimes find myself filled with creativity, but no outlet. There are many ideas and emotions i feel need translated into music, but often isn’t achievable in a full band set up. For this reason i began Sollein; writing music without boundaries, no constrictions i usually feel compelled to impose on myself. I have introduced synth, multiple guitars, clean vocal over-laced with a black metal delivery. The result has been an emotive, depressive listen. This makes me happy.” Formed in of 2020, Sollein is a single man musical project, composed by Andy Clarke of The Crawling. Sollein is currently a studio project designed to provide a creative release for the feelings of solitude, depression and purposelessness we have all found ourselves in. Norwegian Black & Roll veterans Vreid have announced their participation in the "Songs That Changed the World" project by the Nobel Peace Center and Inferno Metal Festival. The band will be commissioned to interpret and cover a song about freedom of expression. The song is yet to be determined. Vreid will perform this special song and their own material during a show at the Nobel Peace Center on April 7, 2020. Founder and bass player Hváll comments: "In Vreid we have always been up for new challenges. It was therefore with huge excitement we took on this task when Inferno Metal Festival and Nobel Peace Center challenged us to do our interpretation of a song that changed the world. Freedom of speech has been relevant since the very beginning of rock, and is just as relevant and important today. A lot has changed since rock 'n' roll was new and rebellious in the 60s, but still today the freedom of speech are controversial and debated, so maybe the world has been at a stand still over the last 60 years. We are thankful for the engagement. Vreid looks forward to dig deep into the rock history of many fantastic songs, and will be ready to perform our song at the Nobel Peace Center in April." More information on the Nobel Peace Center can be found HERE. Inferno Metal Festival will take place on April 9 - 12, in Oslo, Norway. Find more information on the festival HERE. Tryglav, the one man black metal band from Croatia has released a new lyric video for the single 'Evil Dead', a track inspired by the movie of the same title. The song is off the forthcoming debut album "Night of Whispering Souls" that will be unveiled on May 31, 2019, via Extreme Metal Music / Rockshots Records. Tryglav explains: "Here is another song that I wrote for one of my previous bands. When I wrote this song, I was inspired by the "Evil Dead" movie. I think that the guitar, drums, and vocals are combined perfectly! It's a personal favourite, I especially love the riffs for this track. Pure horror black metal! " Check out 'Evil Dead' at the following link https://smarturl.it/tryglav The solo act known as Tryglav comes from the dark mind of Boris Behara, who was looking to express his vision in his own way and have full control over the music. Tryglav is a god in Slavic mythology that represents the sky, the earth, and the afterlife. Channelling this power since 2018, Behara creates melodic, aggressive classic black metal with 80’s horror imaginary that is suitable for all fans of the genre looking for something fresh to bang their heads to. The new album is the perfect combination of velocity and melody, some tracks are fast and brutal and others are melodic with catchy choruses that are easy to pick up during the first listen. The album will be released through Extreme Metal Music / Rockshots Records on May 31, 2019. Using heavy barrages of thrashing poly-rhythmic riffage to whip up intensity levels, DYFN descends into abstracted darkness and finds a sonic blueprint that’s filled with endless possibilities. Guitars are driven to their most extreme by incorporating experimental approaches in technique and composition serving as a perfect backdrop to the deep, chaotic experiences brought forth lyrically as dark riddles are wretched out with harrowing screams. The debut LP by Dark Years from Now was conceived to be a unique listening journey. Whether it’s the pulsating industrial metal edged aesthetic or the cathartic layers of electronic instrumentation, each track offers a world of intriguing sound and substance. Unafraid to take a non-linear approach, many of the songs are forged with abstract intent even using the words as yet another aural paintbrush, obscuring to reveal. Four of the eleven tracks are instrumental in nature providing more time for listeners in the churning abyss of variable perception. Dark Years from Now will release its self-titled debut on March 8, 2019. Scottish Atmospheric black metal project Ruadh to release debut album "Sovereign" 12th April9/2/2019 Ruadh (which is pronounced "Roo-Ah" and translates to "red" is a one man Atmospheric Black Metal project from Glasgow, Scotland. Drawing from the vast well of history, culture and mythology, musician and songwriter Tom Perrett set out to compose music purely to taste, creating an unmistakable atmosphere with the beating heart of old school Black Metal favourites of his, such as Windir, Bathory, Burzum and others, which should also appeal to fans of Saor, Winterfylleth, Panopticon and similar acts. Tom was born and raised in one of the oldest Burghs in Scotland, which translates to "The red glen". The derivation of the name of the town is un clear but one theory is that the area was once a settlement of Reuther, an ancient king of the Scots, who ruled between 213 and 187 BC. Ruadh’s debut album “Sovereign” will be released digitally and as collector’s edition in CD digipak (limited to 1000 copies) on 12.04.19 PRE ORDER THE DEBUT ALBUM "SOVEREIGN" www.ruadh.bandcamp.com www.northern-silence.de facebook.com/ruadhofficial twitter.com/ruadhofficial Jon Davis of legendary British doom metal band Conan is pleased to announce his new solo project Ungraven which showcases his love of 90's metal. In Jon's own words:- "I am a huge fan of Fudge Tunnel, Ministry, Godflesh, Sepultura and Nailbomb. I fell in love with ‘For All Those Who Died’ by Bathory on Headbangers Ball and also the ‘Speed Kills’ comp. Since then I have referenced these bands in some of Conan’s material. With Ungraven I pay homage to the industrial sounds emanating from Birmingham in the 90s with a few other influences that I’ve been obsessing over for a while. It’s super heavy but sightly different from what I have done so far.” Ungraven's debut album will be released in spring of 2019, but to celebrate the announcement, Davis has released the track "Blackened Gates of Eternity" on Bandcamp. Ieschure is a one-woman black metal formation from Rivne, Ukraine, founded by Lilita Arndt in early 2016. With lyrical themes solely focused on occultism, witchcraft, and death, Arndt set to work on her first public recording, The Shadow, which was created during 2016-2017. Although seeing the light now, The Shadow is a melancholic and nostalgic work of pure black metal that could've been released 25 years ago. Breathing a similar essence of the founding early '90s wave, Ieschure conjures an immediately captivating spell of exquisite grimness and bitter majesty. In a seemingly time-stretching 34 minutes, The Shadow indeed approximates its title, wrapping its ethereal embrace around the spellbound listener with an utterly cryogenic splendour, never ceasing its hold nor relinquishing any joy. The sound-field may be distant and withered - and unapologetically raw, of course - but Ieschure exudes a keen grasp of dynamics which allows every note (and the notes "between the notes") to ring out in the night sky with an eeriness all her own. This is music for when the light has truly died and human life ceases to move; it is the reverberation of nocturnal existence, many and terrible its denizens. Will you enter The Shadow with Ieschure? From the gutters of south Sweden, Liv “Sin” Jagrell emerged as a major force as the vocalist for hard rockers Sister Sin. Throughout their 13 year career, Sister Sin sold thousands of albums and toured the world with high profile tours supporting the likes of Slayer and King Diamond on the Rockstar Mayhem festival tour, as well as being a part of the Revolver Magazine ”Hottest Chicks in Metal” tour. Sister Sin toured relentlessly for over a decade across Europe and North America garnering an intensely loyal following of rockers that craved the band’s aggressive and melodic brand of hard rock. When Sister Sin called it quits at the end of 2015, Liv knew that she had much more to give to her fans. From this, Liv SIn was born. Liv is currently working on a new music that shows the power, sexiness, and attitude that she is known for. Liv says ”for me it has never been an option to stop singing. I live for the stage and for my fans. I still miss Sister Sin, but I am very excited to work on my own project, and I can promise it will not be some soft pop rock. This is going to be metal deluxe, because that’s who I am!" Liv SIn offers a modernized hard rock sound to take Liv into her next phase, a sound that is destined to please both new fans and her long-time fans of Sister Sin. www.facebook.com/livsinmusic |
