Hardcore / thrash / crossover band Cage Fight have released new single "Eating Me Alive" ft. the late, great Trevor Strnad of The Black Dahlia Murder. Opening up about struggles with mental health, the "Eating Me Alive" lyric video has been released on World Mental Health Day, the international day for global mental health education, awareness and advocacy against social stigma.
One of — if not the final — recording by Strnad, the video was originally planned for May 13, which was Cage Fight's album release day. But the drop was postponed due to Strnad's tragic unexpected passing just days before. Trevor's support for singer Rachel Aspe's work played a key role in the formation of Cage Fight, which is why his contribution to their debut album is so special. And the subject matter — struggles with anxiety and mental health — makes this poignant song even more significant. Aspe comments:- "Over COVID I was looking for a new project and releasing covers for something to do, but also to hopefully connect with other musicians. When I released my cover of 'Statutory Ape,' Trevor picked up on it and shared from The Black Dahlia Murder's pages, and it got a lot of attention. Trevor messaged me to say he loved it, and hoped that I'd find a band off the back of the cover. Not long after James (Monteith, guitar) contacted me about Cage Fight and the rest is history. Had it not been for Trevor's support, Cage Fight may never have happened; it was a huge honour to have him guest on this song and it meant the world to us. He was one of the greatest supporters of the scene and new music, and is truly missed. RIP Trevor." On the song's content, bassist Jon Reid comments:- "'Eating Me Alive' is about the day-to-day struggles and challenges with mental health that are so prominent to so many people and how the sorrow and loneliness can have a tangible effect. This is something personal to us and we wanted to let people know that they are not alone. We can all have these feelings and that most importantly there is help out there, and we can all find something special. We have chosen to release this on World Mental Health day as a sign of solidarity." With the new single, Cage Fight are urging fans to show support by purchasing the Trevor Strnad memorial shirt. All proceeds will help Trevor's family cover expenses incurred by his death and benefit the Common Ground Resource & Crisis Center. Purchase and donate here. "Eating Me Alive" is taken from their debut album, Cage Fight, out now on the Candlelight label. Stream or purchase the album here. 2022 has been an explosive year for Cage Fight with the release of their highly acclaimed self-titled debut album, tours with Sepultura, Raging Speedhorn, and Cro-Mags, shows with Svalbard, Napalm Death and more, as well as appearing at many festivals including Bloodstock, Burn It Down, including headlining Derby Alt Fest. Now firm favourites on the live circuit, Cage Fight have announced their first ever UK headline tour in December 2022. Yakoeza present their first single and lyric video “March of the mindless sheep” .
Yakoeza, a female fronted hardcore / metal formation from Hellmond/the Netherlands with (ex-) members of Hidden Guns Streetpunk, Ragepyre, Cyanide Paradise and Alternator. Different musical influences like hardcore, metal and punk collide in Yakoeza. It is no wonder that Yakoeza is mainly influenced by Machinehead, Suicidal Tendencies and Knocked Loose. In short, an evening with Yakoeza is guaranteed to be filled with an overload of quick and loud noise. Autumn 2022 Yakoeza hit the studio with the renowned Roelof Klop where they recorded their first single. To complete Yakoeza’s first release, Will Putney, known from his work with bands such as END, Gojira and Fit For An Autopsy, worked his magic by mastering the song. The title of the track “March of the mindless sheep”, is a nice precursor to the lyrics that make up the songs of Yakoeza. March Of The Mindless Sheep is a hardcore / metal track starting out with a soft, vulnerable approach in atmosphere, until the drums open up the track like a machine gun causing mayhem. Throughout the song metal and hardcore influences, especially in the chorus and the breakdown, are noticeable. March of the mindless sheep is a protest against inhumanity during war. Inspired by events throughout history, with the Ukraine-Russia war still raging on as we speak. Lyric wise the song asks its listeners to think about choices, as if they were marching in the soldier lines themselves, that lead up to the point they find themselves in now. Do you feel as if you’re doing the right thing? Do you trust those who give the orders? After all the horrors you’ve endured and seen, don’t you have an ounce of regret? The song aims to create a sense of urgency, as it could only be a matter of time until war is on your doorstep. Credits:
Line-Up:
Hardcore / thrash band Cage Fight have released the video for new single "Respect Ends." Watch it here. The accompanying video, satisfyingly played out by Cage Fight vocalist Rachel Aspe, arrives as a warning to those that attempt to prey on others. The singer explains:- "This song is dedicated to men (or in fact anyone) who thinks it's ok to harass, abuse, make inappropriate comments, or not take no for an answer, both in the real world but also online. It's also a message of solidarity to those who have been victims of such behaviour. The video is symbolic of the frustration and damage this can cause, and it's something we, as a society, should not and will not accept. The final message is clear. If this is how you behave, stay the f**k away. Otherwise, you will regret it."
The band's debut self-titled album is due out May 13 on Candlelight. Pre-order it here. One of the most furious hardcore records to emerge from the UK in recent years, the anger and frustration of Cage Fight's self-titled debut album is the perfect catharsis for our times. The album's artwork — a grabbing hand with the Cage Fight logo tattooed on the palm — visually portrays the violent rage at the core of the band's music. Legitimately inked by Aspe, a tattoo artist by trade, the process of creating the image is as impactful as the final artwork itself.
https://www.facebook.com/cagefighthc/ End of February has seen rising Black Metal Hardcore act, laCasta, release their brand new, second album via Argonauta Records. The Italian four-piece, who started their dark path of blasphemous sounds in 2013, burst into the extreme metal scene with their 2015-, highly acclaimed debut, Encyclia. With their new album, In Æternvm, the band created a cage of pure sound violence, an explosion of rage, so deeply black and full of hate as the darkest side of hell. laCasta definitely express their nihilistic attitude through all that is extreme metal, with all its darkest vibes, hardcore elements and dissonant sounds! The name of the band was inspired by the system that surrounds us and controls the entire planet, where all the castes hold more power day by day. The band is known to play their live shows from behind the crowd, as a sign of refuse. laCasta have shared the stages with bands alike Impaled Nazarene, Karma To Burn, Rotten Sound, Implore among many more to date. To celebrate their album release in dark style, laCasta have just premiered a brand new video to the fierce track 'Faith'. Now the quartet have released their music video for the track 'Outrage', taken off the album. Link to the video - https://youtu.be/SPXJphyei0I Frontman Rueban says:- "The album is loosely based around the biblical character; Samson. Samson was depicted as the epitome of strength in the bible. Though, we might not be like Samson, we, as individuals have unique strengths that we can use. No matter who you are, what age group you belong, or what the status of your life may be, you have a gift that you can use. The pain only gets stronger when we refuse to learn a lesson. If there’s something ‘negative’ happening in your life right now, chances are that you need to learn to accept people the way they are. The album music shows you how to gather yourself and be stronger than you have ever been, based on everyday life experiences." Facebook | Instagram | Bandcamp | Digital 45 Following closely on the heels of Evil’s impressive 2017 debut album, Rites of Evil, Nuclear War Now! is pleased to present the Japanese band’s third demo, The Gate of Hell. The demo shall be released internationally on October 21st on cassette tape format. Beginning with a self-titled instrumental intro that quickly morphs into the Sarcófago-styled attack of “Hell’s Evil Bell’s,” Evil confirms that it has not lost a step since the recording of the preceding album. This demo combines the ferocity of early Brazilian deathcore, the aggression of Teutonic thrash, and the unhinged nature of Japanese hardcore into three original tracks and a cover of the aforementioned Brazilian masters’ “Desecration of Virgin.” These strikes serve as the warning shot over the bow forecasting the siege of Evil’s impending live album on Electric Assault Records, the ensuing second studio album on NWN! in the coming months, and, most urgently, Evil’s upcoming appearance at the Nuclear War Now! / Iron Bonehead-curated Never Surrender Fest, which portends to lay waste to Berlin, Germany on November 1st-3rd of 2018. That festival appearance follows during a stream of European tour dates with Finnish black speed metalpunks Bonehunter - dates after the jump. Ugly, frost-bitten, troll-ravaged folk-metallers Frost Giant will unleash a new beast in 2018. Transcending Records is gearing up for the release of The Harlot Star, an 11 track salute to the glory of battle from one of folk metal's most unique and entertaining bands. Frost Giant's third full-length is a catchy mix of 90's So-Cal punk, European folk metal and American hardcore rooted in Norse mythology, historical references and general silliness. Ahead of the album's release, Frost Giant offers the animated video for "Prisoner of the Past." Check it out at https://youtu.be/TBeOGMINaqg. Decibel Magazine recently posted a stream of album track "Forgive Me Not" as part of an interview with Transcending Records owner Mike Ramirez. The interview also features songs by Transcending Records artists Transylvania Stud and Mountaris. Transcending Records will release The Harlot Star on January 19. Inspired by Norse mythology, epic metal, punk rock, and combined with an American hardcore attitude, Frost Giant drops an icy hammer on everything trendy and weak. The music pays no attention to boundaries, deliberately crossing genres and bringing them all together in one truly unique sound. From the mead-hall sing along choruses to the shredding melodic death metal passages laced with tortured growls and screams, from the pounding double bass to the pop-punk riffs that linger for days, Frost Giant's music journeys through stories and lore, bringing to light the tales of old in a modern folk-metal context. Whether they be warm memories of hearth and home, heroic sagas, or tragic remembrances, the songs will carve these colourful volumes into the soul of anyone whose ears they touch.
