Australian thrashers Asylum release 'Sadistic Intent', the second single from their upcoming album 'Tyrannicide'

Brisbane thrash metal titans Asylum have released their second single "Sadistic Intent" from their upcoming album due to be released on the 2nd of September 2022.

‘Sadistic Intent’ challenges one of humanities most horrific crimes. Based on the brutality of human trafficking, ‘Sadistic Intent’ musically portrays this as being one of the most intense songs on the ‘Tyrannicide’ album while lyrically depicting the lives of the victims.

Lead Guitarist Rob Armstrong comments: "‘Sadistic Intent’ delivers on all fronts, its aggressive and in your face but also tackles a very dark part of the human race. Personally, I have always felt that we live in a false sense of safety and this song for me describes what could be lurking around the corner. Musically its dark, intense and melodic – it definitely contains some of my favourite riffs!"

Asylum is a thrash metal band from Brisbane Australia. Since forming in 2012, Asylum has quickly established itself as one of Australia’s hardest working thrash metal bands. The band has released two EPs, "Slaughterhouse" (2013) and "Concealed Death" (2016) which have captivated thrash metal fans locally and overseas. They released a live EP "Live In Melbourne" (2021), but ultimately they have been super hard at work to release their long awaited debut album "Tyrannicide" in 2022.

Asylum's live shows have been described by critics as energetic, engaging and musically flawless. The band have toured regularly around Australia performing at Australia's annual festivals such as LEGIONS OF STEEL (VIC), AUSOCAPLYPSE (VIC), STORMRIDER (WA), SHREDFEST (QLD), STEEL ASSASSINS (NSW), NEW DEAD FEST (SA), CHURCHES OF STEEL (SA) and BODIES ON BODIES (SA).

Over the years, Asylum has supported international touring bands such as ACCEPT, DESTRUCTION, TOXIC HOLOCAUST, VOIVOD, TANKARD, GEOFF TATE, ANVIL, ANGELUS APATRIDA, METAL CHIRCH, ARTILLERY, LICH KING, GIRLSCHOOL, TANK AND RAVEN.

In 2017, Asylum embarked on their first international venture, performing at Japans annual TRUE THRASHFEST, alongside DARKNESS (GER), S.D.I (DER) and DEFILED (JPN).

Lebanese thrash groove merchants Phenomy drop new single “When The Darkness Comes”, from the album “Syndicate Of Pain”

Picture

Lebanese thrash / groove metal titans Phenomy have unleashed their blistering new album
'Syndicate Of Pain', out March 3rd 2022, along with harrowing animation video 'Lead Me To My Throne'. 'Syndicate Of Pain' is a concept album about an asylum ran by Dr Anton Shuman, a mad scientist that is manipulating criminals and patients labelled insane in his facility. The album later reveals that these patients are not being cured, but are part of a bigger and darker project, that even Dr Schuman himself is being deceived by.

In the album is included the single “When The Darkness Comes”

Dr Shuman: "First it was the experiments, then there was the knowledge and then came the power of possession and manipulation. It felt godly to be able to create and destroy lives and matter. It became addictive, the greed feeds of the soul of men and vanity makes them feel flawless. At some point we feel in control and indestructible until we realize we are just a fragile pile of dust roaming in the devil's den. And you took advantage of that, you knew that this is what would keep me going and you were just sitting there watching me dance like a puppet in your hands. Doing all the tricks and then taraaa voila, you earned it all"

Portuguese all-female metal band Black Widows released a second single and music video from their upcoming second studio album "Among The Brave Ones" which is set to be released on October 21st 2022 via Finnish label Inverse Records.

  • Watch the "Among The Brave Ones" music video: https://youtu.be/wsG8oR-YDgY

Vocalist/guitarist Rute Fevereiro comments:

"More than ten years ago, during a break with Black Widows and when I decided to think about my musical life, I made several songs. Among the Brave Ones theme comes from that period of creativity. At the time, it didn't have that name but it awakened in me a sense of resilience and freedom. When I proposed this theme for us to work on as a band, Black Widows liked it and improved it substantially, giving their input as musicians. Among the Brave Ones was the name given to this theme and the album. This song is about our band returning stronger and more powerful than ever . It honours the brave artists and has many musicians guests promoting our video, as you will see. Are you ready for what's to come?"

Italian dark metallers SilentLie unveil single "On My Skin"; taken from upcoming album "Equilibrium" out September 2022

30/8/2022

Picture

Italian melancholic metallers SilentLie are giving fans another taste of their forthcoming second full-length "Equilibrium" with the unveiling of their new music video for the second single "On My Skin", a track about the story of the value of life to a son, through difficulties and hopes. It’s a smooth hard rock song, with a good rhythm, and a very catchy refrain.

Always drawn to the dark side of emotions, SilentLie's "Equilibrium" proceeds along this path. It stands on modern heavy tones and an obscure mood that can be compared to bands like Ghost, Ozzy Osbourne, and The Cure. Spreading their dark wings, drums, and bass, SilentLie builds a wall of sound on which the guitars dance with tombstone keys while a powerful female voice embraces the listener with gritty, but catchy melodies. Many of the songs on the album, thematically, deal with the eternal struggle between good and evil, with lyrics introspective and personal. There’s a maturity to the music that acts as a pendulum swinging between 80s liquid verses and gloomy, almost doomy, parts.

"Our first EP, "Blood Under Snow" was a collection of five obscure and atmospheric tracks, while our first full-length "Layers of Nothing" featured dark/gothic influences with some old-fashioned Sabbath riffing. The new material on 'Equilibrium" reveals a more focused sound with a blasting production. It's deep, heavy, and gritty with a dark outline. It's a collection of 10 heavy songs, a journey in the dark without fear." adds the band.

“Equilibrium” was mixed in the U.S.A. by Grammy Award winner Dave Hagen at Dark Horse Studios (Mastodon, Evanescence, Alice in Chains). The album will be released via Rockshots Records on September 30th.

SilentLie was formed in Trieste, Italy in 2005. In 2007, they recorded "Behind My Face", a demo that gave the band several opportunities. In 2008, the song "Silence of Your Mind" appeared on two compilations: The Funeral Vol.2 (for the American label 272 Records) and Maximum Rock Attack (for the Magazine Maximum Rock).

In 2009, the song "River Of Torments" was part of the Blood Sisters film soundtrack, from which a video was also extracted. In 2013, the band released the EP Blood Under Snow, a collection of five obscure and atmospheric tracks and in the same year, the video of the single "Regret" was filmed. In 2015, the debut full-length album "Layers Of Nothing" was released by Bakerteam / Scarlet records, later followed by the video of the title track. The album featured dark / gothic influences with some old-fashioned Sabbath riffing. After a hiatus due to personal reasons, SilentLie returned in 2021 to begin work on their second album to be mixed at Dark Horse Studios in the USA by the Grammy Award-winning Dave Hagen. The new material reveals a more modern and focused sound with a blasting production, but SilentLie still holds its identity: deep, heavy, and gritty with a dark outline.

Rue Vox teams with Heidi Shepherd (Butcher Babies) in brutal new single, "Bitch Don't Come For Me"

Las Vegas, NV based, dark rock / pop / industrial artist Rue Vox has teamed up with Butcher Babies frontwoman Heidi Shephard on her vicious new single, "Bitch Don't Come For Me"! With the music video produced and directed by Shane O'Neal, and cinematography by Deed Debruno, "Bitch Don't Come For Me" was produced by Brian Steele Medina (Gemini Syndrome) and features Henry Flury (Butcher Babies) on guitar.

"It’s an empowering track and anti-shaming (fat shaming, slut shaming, etc..) and actually turns into a dis-track in the bridge where Heidi ALMOST name drops a certain well known artist that she has had this kind of experience with in the past. I wanted the video to be along the lines of the movie 'Death Becomes Her' where we’re some hot girls getting ready for a night out but all of a sudden our bodies start falling apart and we’re just “hot ghouls” by the end of it. The video features myself, Heidi Shepherd (Butcher Babies) and Shannon Gunz (DJ from Octane on Sirius xm)."

Brazilian melodic death thrashers Sophie's Threat unleash bombastic, chaotic and powerful debut single

29/8/2022

Picture

The Brazilian melodic death / thrash metal band Sophie's Threat was formed in 2021 in Sao Paulo by musicians Tiago Carteano (drums) and Ricardo Oliveira (guitar). Baptized with this name as a reference to Robot Sophia, the first humanoid robot to receive citizenship from a country, in this case Saudi Arabia, developed by Hanson Robotics, in Hong Kong, capable of reproducing 62 facial expressions and designed to learn, work among humans, and adapt to our behaviours. When asked in an interview if it would destroy humanity, it surprised everyone by saying 'yes'!

From this concept came the idea for the band's name, a way its members found to criticize how fast technological growth can destroy its creator without thinking about its consequences.

Boasting a bombastic sound, vibrant and striking riffs, bold lyrics that face the present day and a competent mix between Thrash and Melodic Death Metal, the band unleashes a lot of efficiency, seriousness and quality in their first official record, the single "Infernal Manipulation".

  • Stream "Infernal Manipulation" on https://onerpm.link/241090273085
  • Infernal Manipulation” (Lyric Video) on https://youtu.be/zS20vZ-EZ4o

  • Produced, mixed and mastered by Michel Villares (M&H Studios) | Cover art by Tiago Carteano

There is a whole story behind the composition of "Infernal Manipulation", a song that originally belonged to an old band that Paulo R. “Satan” (current bassist) and Ricardo Oliveira (guitarist) used to have. After the death of their drummer the band disbanded and Ricardo brought it to Sophie's Threat, where it was all reworked, enhanced, having different lyrics and title.

Unfortunately, right after the release of "Infernal Manipulation", the band suffered severe line-up changes with the departure of singer Bruna Mieko and bassist Wagner Wilis, but now as a stabilized band with new members Paulo R. "Satan" (bass), Marcao (guitar) and singer Malu Sales, the band's sound is back to being even more powerful, brutal and impactful as imagined by its founders!

"With "Infernal Manipulation", we intend to show how much people today are manipulated through technology and slaves of social networks where the world is 'perfect and happy', however outside this virtual sphere their lives are doomed and unhappy. Behind the pretty pictures, expensive trips and a thousand perks, the story is completely different. We need to stick to this so that our lives don't become empty and liars", commented Tiago Carteano (drums).

"It's a direct and heavy sound! I really like the issue of how this prostitution for likes and followers that these 'influencers' do today through ridiculous, lame, shameful, and degrading content that unfortunately also attracts people with an empty mentality. Finally, it's a sound note 10 for me", said Ricardo Oliveira (guitar).

The band is current producing a new single called "Suicidal God", also with producer Michel Villares, using subject of lyrics how society creates its own monsters, and they always come back to punish us. The basis for this topic was the story of the schizophrenic psychopath and serial killer Joseph Kallinger, who murdered three people including one of his children and tortured four other families, was used.

"We used excerpts from a real interview of the criminal in the opening and ending part of the song, and in this interview he, a schizophrenic, talks about voices in his head telling him to kill three million other people, his family, and then kill himself to become a god. That's why we gave the title "Suicidal God" to the single", concluded Tiago.

New Zealand global metal frontrunners Alien Weaponry have been touring around the world nonstop since the 2021 release of their acclaimed sophomore album, Tangaroa, out now via Napalm Records! Spreading vital messages of peace, awareness and warning through the power of their culturally-driven music, Tangaroa proves a massive next step for the band – encompassing all of the elements that make Alien Weaponry heavy metal’s most authentic rising stars.

Following the release of their three previous Tangaroa music videos for "Tangaroa", "Buried Underground", and "Hatupatu", today, in anticipation of their winter and early 2023 performance plans supporting both Guns N' Roses and Gojira, Alien Weaponry have dropped an official video for none other than their album closer track "Down The Rabbit Hole". The track extends an important proclamation against bullying through the eyes and experiences of frontman Lewis de Jong.

Lewis de Jong says about "Down The Rabbit Hole":

"This was an absolute blast to film! 'Down The Rabbit Hole' represents the growth I've experienced throughout my life and putting to bed demons from the past. The video captures the meaning well - the broken objects representing said demons. It’s the rough times in life that make you who you are, as long as you rise above it."

Algebra have become one of the most reliable machines in metaldom over the course of their 14 years of existence. Like the famous Swiss watches, their music is clockwork-precise. Several overlapping schools of classic thrash coexist in their songs, with the heaviness and directness of the classic Bay Area bands somehow not crowding out the weirder, progressive flourishes of countrymates Coroner or even modern, post-1992 extreme metal influences, a la latter-day Megadeth, perhaps. It all comes together into a pummelling, yet controlled, behemoth of a band without visible seams on its stainless steel outer shell.

Their release schedule has been almost as reliable as their riffs, with prior full-length albums  Polymorph in 2012, Feed the Ego in 2014, and Pulse? in 2019. The latter two were their first outings for Unspeakable Axe Records, who is now proud to unleash their fourth album. Titled  Chiroptera--with a suitably spooky bat painted on its cover, courtesy of the talented Adam Burke--this may be Algebra's most advanced offering yet, without departing too greatly from the style they have been refining up till now.

  • *Victor Brandt: Bass
  • Ed Nicod: Vocals and Guitar
  • Nick Abery: Guitar
  • Florent Duployer: Drums

Swedish melodic death metallers Orbit Culture release video for brand new single 'Vultures Of North'

Sweden’s Orbit Culture are quickly taking the metal world by storm, continuing with the release of their vicious new single 'Vultures Of North'. The single precedes Orbit Culture's debut USA tour supporting In Flames, which kicks off next month, and will feature on their upcoming full-length  (due early 2023).

Check out the video for 'Vultures Of North' here: https://youtu.be/ZvKKbDaUFos

'Vultures Of North' sees Orbit Culture honing their craft to perfection, delivering on all fronts and offering an enticing glimpse into their forthcoming album.

Vocalist / guitarist Niklas Karlsson comments on the message and tone behind the single:

"We feel that we’ve been waiting for too long now to get out there and play due to the pandemic. During COVID, of course, our fanbase has grown very strong and under the same banner, the antlers emblem, we’ll head out there together stronger than ever before. With this huge US tour coming up, we felt that we’re going to head out there with a new fast and heavy song. With all the European dates this summer that have gone so well, it’s time to put in a higher gear with this new song into the frontline. The riffs and the instrumental side of this track was born out of us wanting a song that just hammers through concrete. A simple 4/4 on the drums and an angry ‘Sawish’ riff on top.

"With ‘Strangler,' from our latest EP Shaman, being the latest video we put out, we wanted to create something that would be totally opposite of both that track and video. We teamed up with Riivata Visuals, who made our music video for 'Mute The Silent' back in 2021, to make the video for this one. It’s an angry song. Beware of every one of us under the flag, we are coming for you."
