Global Metal Apocalypse (GMA) Awards 2021 - Metal Release Of The Year (by country / territory)8/1/2022 So we now know who the winners of the GMA Awards 2021 were, but to wrap up the event in it's entirety and bid farewell to 2021 and usher in 2022, we must turn to the last bunch of awards - 'Metal Release By Country / Area'. Usually these would include the flag of the band's nation, but given the events in Afghanistan this year among other political turmoil, I felt it would be prudent to forgo any flags and just list the winners.... so without further ado here are the.... |

Georgia's Ennui release "End Of The Circle" via Non Serviam Records; album available to stream
7/9/2018
Tbilisi, Georgia based funeral doom unit Ennui have released their anticipated fourth album, "End of the Circle" through Non Serviam Records on CD format. Clocking in at around 73 minutes, the album offers three melody oriented mournful funerary doom death tracks.
"Rife with towering riffs and deep, earth-shaking bellows, Ennui taps into a well of existential madness and dread. It's a glacially-paced endeavor into the circle of life and it's inevitable end: death", notes Metal Injection on the full album stream feature.

Album can also be streamed on SPOTIFY and all major DIGITAL PLATFORMS
Formed in 2012 by David Unsaved in the city of Tbilisi, Georgian duo Ennui explores a variety of styles within the genres of funeral doom and death Metal, and delivers a refined blend of dark melodies, crushing riffs and technical percussion together with the dramatic and poetic storytelling.
After years of intense work, headlining the Shadow Doom Festival in Russia, EnnuiI is proud to present their fourth album, “End of the Circle”, containing three epic songs, according different canons of genre, and sustaining mind blowing atmosphere of funeral doom/death metal madness. ENNUI is ready to unleash the album that will mark the zenith point in their discography. Indeed, it's the most dark, inventive and extreme music written by the band to date. This is the opus about the death and funeral of all being, existential madness, and final cycle in a whirl of life and death. Throughout the dismally lumbering pace prolonged songs, Ennui supremely showcases musical technicality in performance and composition without sacrificing melodic and dynamic proficiency.

Georgia's Ennui debut final track from "End Of The Circle" via Doomed & Stoned; album out Sep 5th
16/8/2018
Georgian funeral doomers Ennui are set to release their upcoming album, "End of the Circle", on September 05 via Dutch label Non Serviam Records. This three mammoth sized tracks carrying opus will be the fourth album of the band in their 06 years of time span.
No Clean Singing already debuted the track "The Withering Part I – of Hollow us" as the first single from this album (can be checked RIGHT HERE)
Doomed & Stoned debuts the final track "The Withering Part II – of Long-Dead Stars", the 20 minute epic composition that ends the mournful tale begun in the previous single.
The Band Narrate:-
"''The Withering Part II - Of Long-Dead Stars'' is the album's final track and the conceptual continuation of the ''The Withering Part I - Of Hollow Us'' (the second track from the End Of The Circle album). The ''Part I'' is about fading humanity under the empty and forever silent cosmic void, whereas ''The Withering Part II - Of Long-Dead Stars'' reflects concept about the stars upon us, the billions of stars which had faded down long time ago, but we are still able to observe their ghostly shine. By going through this 20 minute-long-track, a listener can forget about his life goals, sense of being and his presence in this world, but feel absolute loneliness, abandonment, void and uselessness, being on the edge of forgotten Universe."

Rotting Christ have been arrested in the Eastern European state of Georgia on spurious grounds involving charges of terrorism allegedly based on the band's name.
Rotting Christ frontman Sakis Tolis relates the events in his own words:-
"We arrived in Georgia's capital Tbilisi very early in the morning of Thursday, 12th of April. After the regular document check at the border, my brother and I were stopped by the police on our way out from the airport. After some minutes, we were ordered to follow police to another area of the airport under the pretence of further questioning before entering the country. Instead, we had our passports and mobile phones taken away and were lead into a prison cell. When we were demanding to be told the reason for this arrest, we were simply told this information would be 'confidential'. Our lawyers informed us later that we are on a list of unwanted persons of national security that branded us as Satanists and therefore suspects of terrorism.
Without previous warning and no official reason, we found ourselves in jail, locked into a small and rather dirty cell and without being permitted any contact to the outside world or legal representation or our embassy for 12 hours. Conditions were bad and no further information provided during this time.
Luckily, only the names 'Tolis' were on the list and the other two band members started to work with the local promoter to extract us from prison and commence legal procedures. It took strong efforts and a complicated procedure to find a solution. Due to the hard work of the local promoter, who involved legal experts, journalists, and activists in Georgia, we were finally released. We are extremely grateful to everybody involved in this process. In the end, we were even able to perform our show and it turned out to be a fantastic night. We would also like to thank all our Georgian metal brothers for their overwhelming support!"
Rotting Christ were allowed to leave the country towards Armenia without any further complications.

Vanhelga are a Swedish Black Metal who have been going for around 15 years and have just unleashed their fourth opus 'Ode & Elegy'. In support of their new album, the deep-thinking quartet have unveiled their latest music video for the first track taken from the new album. "Utan Mening" explores the endlessly repeating cycle of aridity that passes for life. The video is directed by J. Ejnarsson and features A. Rohtsalu in the role of a depressed young woman slipping further and further into darkness and despair from which she is unable to escape. Footage of the band is also included in the video.
Sweden's Vanhelga straddle themselves across the general Black and Depressive Suicidal Black Metal styles, all whilst they use deceptively melodic pieces to create disturbing scenarios, therefore not for the faint of heart or emotionally unstable. The album artwork was designed by Gedeminas Kiauné of Manum Diaboli Art.
Vanhelga have a backdrop behind the album title and explain it as thus:-
- "Ode" or "Old Diary Entries" is about the deteriorating mental state of a young woman, slipping further and further into depression and darkness. Her recorded voice is intertwined with the music.
- "Elegy" is the continuation. It's about looking back and reflecting on those dark situations in life: the hopelessness, drugs, abuse, depression and death. In summary, to understand and accept that life is without meaning".
For those who are inquisitive of this band can lend their ears to the new album by listening to it at Vanhelga's Bandcamp page:- https://vanhelga.bandcamp.com/album/ode-elegy
