Global Metal Apocalypse (GMA) Awards 2021 - Metal Release Of The Year (by country / territory)8/1/2022 So we now know who the winners of the GMA Awards 2021 were, but to wrap up the event in it's entirety and bid farewell to 2021 and usher in 2022, we must turn to the last bunch of awards - 'Metal Release By Country / Area'. Usually these would include the flag of the band's nation, but given the events in Afghanistan this year among other political turmoil, I felt it would be prudent to forgo any flags and just list the winners.... so without further ado here are the.... |

Thai heavy metallers Nacarbide have just released the lyric video for the song 'Undisclosed' from their second full-length album. The album, "Iron Lotus", was released earlier this year. It is heavily influenced by Japanese metal, NWOBHM, hair metal and German metal from the 1980's. For fans of the modern sounds like Firewind and Wardrum.
Line-up:
Masa - Guitar
Hassy - Bass
Hiro - Drums
HItomi - Vocals
Nacarbide are a heavy metal band from Bangkok, Thailand. The band consists of Thai and Japanese members. Their first album "Lots of Eyes", was released in 2017. Before their second-album, "Iron Lotus", the band also released an EP, "Resolution", in 2017. Nacarbide has played the international metal community initiative Metal United World Wide in Bangkok both years.

Salvadorian black/thrashing maniacs Witchgöat's debut full length Egregors of the Black Faith comes out today via Morbid Skull Records (CD & Cassette) and Hell Productions (CD). This album is the successor of the demo Umbra Regit that came out last year.
M. Miasma (vocals) states:-
“We hope to project our first album, Egregors of the Black Faith, to the world as a tribute of our devotion to thrash/black/death metal and to show that in Central America we also share the visceral spirit of honest and direct metal that makes its way even without having great technical and economic resources, just like the spirit of South America in the ‘80s. On this album, we tried to print our version of the raw metal which we have been fans of for many years. We trust that the followers of this type of music will find it interesting.”
Stream "Egregors of the Black Faith " in its full via Decibel Magazine, AT THIS LOCATION
Witchgöat was conceived in the middle of 2016 by the long serving Salvadorian guitarist P. Scyther with the aim to form a black/thrash metal project that would carry off the effervescence of the old school thrash metal, the brutality and the precariousness of the ‘80s extreme metal, and the dire melodies of the ‘90s blackened death metal. He had shortly begun composing for the nameless project. The drummer E. Driller joined him in the early 2017 and the recording process was started straight away under the moniker of Witchgöat. The line-up of Witchgöat was completed upon the arrival of M. Miasma (vocals) and C. Fog (bassist) in the mid – 2017.
The profane quartet bestowed the demo tape “Umbra Regit” (all 33 copies were sold out immediately after issuing the pre-order) upon earth on July 31, 2018 via Morbid Skull Records. The demo assault is a momentary demonstration of the profound malignancy and the inevitable destruction that the impending debut is to inflame in the beginning of the year 2019.
The debut opus “Egregors of the Black Faith” is out on February 13, 2019 via Morbid Skull Records (El Salvador – CD & Cassette) and Hell Productions (Thailand – CD). Rejecting all type of modern technological enhancements, this opus conjures the filthiness and wickedness of the bona fide old-school extreme metal sound. With a malefic storm of barbaric black/thrashing numbers present in the album, Witchgöat is destined to intensify the spirit of the Central American metal underground.

Hot on the heels of announcing their upcoming tour of Asia, South Australian metal band Shatter Brain have just released a video clip for the song ‘Discard’. This video documents the band’s tour of Australia and New Zealand, which they undertook between February and April of this year. The footage was compiled and edited by Ando Media Services and comprises bootleg live footage, as well as the bands own footage that documents some of the more fun, funny, and embarrassing moments of the tour.
Watch the video on YouTube and get an insight into what goes on during a Shatter Brain tour: https://youtu.be/OfDZV_-_Fak
Discard is the final track on the band’s four-song demo, aptly titled ‘The Shatter Brain Demo’, which was released in January 2018. It is available on physical, digital and streaming formats via BandCamp, iTunes and Spotify.

Death metal barbarians Shambles stream the entirety of their new EP, Primitive Death Trance, at heavily trafficked web-portal ToiletOvHell.com. Set for international release on February 16th via Blood Harvest Records on digipak CD and 12" vinyl formats, hear Shambles' Primitive Death Trance in its entirety exclusively HERE.
Shambles hail from Thailand, and formed in 1997. Over the past 20 years, they've undergone an evolution from brutal grindcore to witching black metal to doomed-out death metal. They've accomplished all this across a handful of demos and splits, but at last, in 2016, they delivered their Realm of Darkness Shrine debut album, where the current Shambles aesthetic has been nailed down cold. Indeed, it's as cold as the coffin, for their latest Primitive Death Trance EP delivers four absolutely DEAD tracks of absolutely gutted, doom-retching DEATH. Barbaric and stripped bare and yet subtly spiced with a hypnotic thrust that eventually overwhelms the senses, Primitive Death Trance is aptly fucking titled.
Death, doom, and the beyond: Shambles take you there with their Primitive Death Trance. This recording is a precursor to the band's new album for Blood Harvest, which should see release sometime this year. In the meantime, stream Primitive Death Trance in its entirety exclusively HERE, courtesy of ToiletOvHell.com. Pre-order info can be found HERE.

Who would have thought that Global Metal Apocalypse (GMA) would be celebrating 6 years this year as an international metal music outlet, giving bands worldwide endless coverage through reviews, interviews and everything in and around the edges? Not me.
I started GMA 6 years ago with the vision of unearthing, nurturing, promoting and expanding bands coverage across all continents and the islands dotted across planet earth, with the extended view of tapping into nascent metal scenes that were either unbeknownst to the wider metal community e.g. French Polynesia or to those freshly starting out at the hands of one or two bands e.g. Iron Sliver from Gabon.
6 years later and here I am, ready to announce who has won what category(s) at the annual GMA Awards. Voting went on for two weeks and saw thousands upon thousands of votes pouring in since the voting form went live.
GMA is run solely by one person, myself. But this has not put me off from continuing the site's progression and this year I started a sister site:- Global Mainstream Arts (http://globalmainstreamarts.weebly.com/) to give non-metal artists / bands coverage. But metal will always be at the forefront.
The winners at the 2017 GMA Awards are:-

Soon to be released on vinyl by Nero One Records which has put out the excellent Ruin album, Shambles are another fine revelation. Thailand isn't the kind of place where you would expect such filthy death metal to foster. And yet, here we have a stunning album that's well written and produced, with excellent imagery and intent. A veteran band, Shambles will have been around since exactly two decades in 2017, and 'Realm of Darkness Shrine' is their first ever full length album. The songs are reminiscent of 'Mortal Throne of Nazarene' era Incantation and other newer 'dark death metal' acts such as Blood Incantation, Necros Christos, Grave Miasma, Cruciamentum, etc. The sludgy music is interspersed with blasting moments a la Disembowelment, and the whole affair is murky, unsettling and dark as a starless night. Asian bands are rising to prominence, from newer countries that too, and Shambles are one among them.
Album Line-up:
Chainarong Meeprasert - Vocals
Thinnarat Poungmanee - Drums
Issara Panyang - Guitars
Thotsaphon Ayusuk - Bass
Release Date - November 15th, 2016
