Defiant are to release their brand new EP "Vanguards Of Misrule" on June 26th, 2022.

"Vanguards Of Misrule celebrates and encompasses everything that Defiant is over the last 17 years of its turbulent existence and shapes the future of the things to come. It is our most focused work yet and a classic example of an EP with a strength of a full length." - says T.K. (vocals, lyrics)

Kris (guitars, song writing) continues - "Definitely our most complex material so far that will not leave anyone indifferent. And a good introduction to what follows next.".

Defiant is a death / black metal band from Croatia formed in 2005. On the last 2 albums they played melodic death metal, but after some changes in the band they decided to change their style to pure death / black metal. Defiant's debut album "The End of Beginning" was self-released in autumn 2006.

In 2008 some new promo stuff  was recorded for the upcoming album "Without Religion There Is No Fear", but because of some problems the band split-up. While everything was on hold,  Defiant's founder Kris worked on some new music, more brutal than previous stuff.

2011 was a new beginning for the band; new blood was recruited and after a few shows with a new line-up, Defiant was ready for recording a new album in "Era Of Substitution", which was more extreme than previous works from the band. In 2012 Defiant signed for Grom Records.

In 2015. Defiant recorded their third album "Morbid Spiritual Illness" with the new line up after a two-year break; the new album was recorded at Studio Armageddon. Also in 2015 and Defiant  signed a contract with Swiss label Miner Recordings.

In 2020 the band welcomed Zoran Stjepic on bass. The band co-released the split "Ways Ov Damnation" with the Hungarian black / death metal band Dvvad via Tortured Tree productions.

January 2022 saw Defiant record material for their new album "Insurrection Icon" at Hellsound Studio, Czech Republic with new vocalist / lyricist Tomislav Kuternik. The new darker opus "Insurrection Icon" was unleashed May 25th via Spanish label Art Gates records. The album was met with rave reviews from international and local metal sites, proclaiming it to be the band's best album so far.

In the same month the album was promoted on the "Insurrection in the East" tour, mainly across Eastern Europe with new drummer Sead Hadžić (ToxicDeath, Contusio).

Due to Covid-19 Defiant entirely focuses on writing new material which spawned their first ever EP named "Vanguards Of Misrule" which will see the darkness of the day 26th June 2022. It is dedicated to LG Petrov from Entombed.

The new album "Mammon Mantra" will be recorded in 2023 with special guests.

So we now know who the winners of the GMA Awards 2021 were, but to wrap up the event in it's entirety and bid farewell to 2021 and usher in 2022, we must turn to the last bunch of awards - 'Metal Release By Country / Area'.

After one month of voting, nearly 6,000 votes cast and countless sharing across all social media platforms by us and nominees alike, the time has come to announce the winners of the GMA Awards 2019.

But before that happens, there will be a change to how the nominees are cast. For 10 months of the year we will be running a series of rounds from which the 10 finalists will be recognised for the annual event.

The system will work as thus: nominees elected in the month of January are voted for in February... February nominees voted in March, etc and finishes with nominees in October being voted for in November - the finalists will then be voted for across the month of December and into early January 2021; finishing 8th January 2021.

Now that's put out into the open, we can finally reveal the winners of the GMA Awards 2019.

Finnish Cello Metal veterans Apocalyptica release brand new video for 'En Route To Mayhem'

18/12/2019

Picture

Finland’s multi-Platinum cello-rock band Apocalyptica have released the video for ‘En Route To Mayhem’, which will transport the viewer to a fantastical post-humanity future. This imaginary world is barren, dusty, and littered with broken pieces of things once considered essential to humankind such as bits of plastic, a teddy bear, crumbling structures, cell phones and computers, bleached bones, and long-forgotten musical instruments. The setting is devoid of mankind, but brimming with the hope of new life; and then one day, thunder, lightning, and one drop at a time, it begins to rain, and Mother Nature steps in. Check out the ‘En Route To Mayhem’ video HERE.

Apocalyptica’s Eicca Toppinen comments:-

“‘En Route To Mayhem’ is a journey of hedonic needs growing into greed and aggression, driving into inner mayhem and ending without satisfaction. This video underlines the fact that however we think we are in control by destroying things and life around us, life itself will take over in the end, always. We are not in control of the bigger picture, and we should be aware of it and raise our respect to life around us.”

The ‘En Route To Mayhem’ video is in support of Apocalyptica’s upcoming album, Cell-0, due out January 10th, 2020 via Silver Lining Music. Produced by Apocalyptica – cellists Eicca Toppinen, Perttu Kivilaakso, and Paavo Lötjönen, and drummer Mikko Sirén and mixed by Andrew Scheps (Red Hot Chili Peppers, Lana Del Rey, Metallica and Black Sabbath), and recorded at Sonic Pump studios in Helsinki.

The recording of Cell-0 followed a four-year break between albums that gave the band a fresh perspective and affected the way they approached the new music. Cell-0 is the quartet's first instrumental album in 17 years and found the musicians challenging themselves to discover new flavours and colours in their respective instruments. For Cell-0 pre-order options, go to this location.

Perttu Kivilaakso comments:-

“Cell-0 has a concept which is to challenge the listeners to question themselves and ask “Am I doing the best I can for the environment, for other beings? Is there still something I can change?”

To highlight environmental issues, the band wanted to ask fans to do something for our planet; so to coincide with the release of the new video, they have launched a very special competition, which will give fans the chance to win the opportunity for Apocalyptica to play in their living room.

To enter, fans will need to show the band how they are making the planet a healthier place for everyone. Fans can head to their Facebook page and comment with photos/videos showing what they are doing to help the planet and telling the band why they should be picked as a winner.

To find out more information, head to the band’s Facebook page. The online contest is open to all European fans from now and will close at 7:00 pm CET Friday, January 10th, 2020.  Full terms and conditions can be found here.

In concert, Apocalyptica are known for their moving live performances and will kick off the New Year as Special Guests on Sabaton's 15-country, 23-date European arena tour that begins on January 17, 2020 in Zurich, Switzerland. With a set list that will likely vary night to night, Apocalyptica's performances will be comprised of new songs from Cell-0 as well as from the band's rich catalogue. Tickets are on sale now; go to https://www.apocalyptica.com for all pre-sales, VIP packages, and ticketing details.

Ukraine's most ferocious metal export Jinjer have officially begun work on their highly anticipated third album and follow up to their Napalm Records debut King Of Everything (2016) and their amazing “Micro” EP (2018). Once again teaming up with sound producer Max Morton at Kaska Studio in Kiev, the as of yet untitled album is expected to be released sometime in fall 2019 and promises to be their best and most fierce material to date.

"No rest for the wicked! Together with our long time friend and producer Max Morton, we are pleased to announce that we’ve entered Kaska Studio in Kiev to begin recording our third full album, to be released later this year. Trust us, it’s gonna blow your heads off," says the band.

Hot off the heels of the news that numerous North American dates with special guests The Browning being upgraded to bigger venues and some shows near the sell out point, Jinjer have also announced a full blown European Headline Tour in November/December to coincide with the release of their new album.

Jinjer seem determined to take over the world one country at a time and by any means necessary:-

“Europe! We are coming for you! The time has come to show you the fiercest side of Jinjer ever, with a new album, new songs as well as all our older hits and a few surprises in-between. We know a lot of you have been waiting for us to do a proper headline tour with our own production and that time has finally come! Join us this November/December throughout Europe and the United Kingdom and help us celebrate this new era with a bang!”

Do not miss your chance to see Jinjer somewhere in Europe or North America this year!

Croatian Black Metal project Tryglav unveils 'Evil Dead' inspired lyric video

25/5/2019

Picture

Tryglav, the one man black metal band from Croatia has released a new lyric video for the single 'Evil Dead', a track inspired by the movie of the same title. The song is off the forthcoming debut album  "Night of Whispering Souls" that will be unveiled on May 31, 2019, via Extreme Metal Music / Rockshots Records.

Tryglav explains:

"Here is another song that I wrote for one of my previous bands. When I wrote this song, I was inspired by the "Evil Dead" movie. I think that the guitar, drums, and vocals are combined perfectly! It's a personal favourite, I especially love the riffs for this track. Pure horror black metal! "

Check out 'Evil Dead' at the following link https://smarturl.it/tryglav

The solo act known as Tryglav comes from the dark mind of Boris Behara, who was looking to express his vision in his own way and have full control over the music.

Tryglav is a god in Slavic mythology that represents the sky, the earth, and the afterlife. Channelling this power since 2018, Behara creates melodic, aggressive classic black metal with 80’s horror imaginary that is suitable for all fans of the genre looking for something fresh to bang their heads to.
The new album is the perfect combination of velocity and melody, some tracks are fast and brutal and others are melodic with catchy choruses that are easy to pick up during the first listen.

The album will be released through Extreme Metal Music / Rockshots Records on May 31, 2019.

Album pre-order available at http://bit.ly/tryglav_PREORDER

Skyeye's latest album "Digital God" came out on November 9, 2018. Just recently the band revealed:

"We are already working on new material and it looks like we are going to step up technical and arrangement abilities even further. We are all evolving our skills as we write new songs. Writing new material is really an uplifting experience for all of us."

Slovenian heavy metal band SkyEye was founded in 2014 by guitarist Grega Stalowsky, bassist Primož Lovšin and singer Jan Lešcanec. SkyEye got its current line-up in 2016 when guitarist Marko Kavcnik and drummer Jurij Nograšek joined the band. Unique and powerful vocals combined with raw and melodic guitar riffs give the band its signature heavy metal sound, reminiscent of other major representatives of the genre, like Iron Maiden, Saxon or Judas Priest. The band made its debut appearance in June 2017, and only four months later brought out its first EP under the title "Run for Your Life". The overwhelmingly positive response and strong support at their performances drove the Skyeye back into the studio to record their debut album "Digital God", which was released on November 9, 2018.

Stated the band:

"The way we see it, there are no obstacles, there are only challenges. Right now we are happy that we successfully launched our debut album and this is the ticket to get opportunities to play bigger and bigger shows."

The album cover of "Digital God" represents humanity, which is already almost entirely enslaved by its digital god. Yet, a sliver of hope remains for us to free ourselves from the digital shackles and hear the beating of our hearts again. The brute, fast and uncompromising title track speaks of how humanity’s vanity, greed and unrestrained abuse of technology is inadvertently creating an entity that is greater and more powerful than its creator. The day when we completely enslave ourselves is no longer far. Digital God is a warning against the downfall of the human race. The album features nine other original tracks in English that the band has written in the past four years, including three epic songs—Galactic Wind, Tsunami and Jerusalem—whose combined duration of 30 minutes by far exceeds today’s trends of instant music.

Hailing from Croatia, the rising stars Sage have just signed a worldwide record deal with Rockshots Records for the release of their debut album "Anno Domini 1573", which is being released on September 21, 2018.

The album is a concept album about the Peasants’ Revolt that took place in England in the 1300s. The album encompasses themes of the battles between good and evil, honesty and greed. SAGE delivers a mix of heavy, powerful and progressive metal, which the band blends to forge a unique but recognizable sound.

"The band name Sage means both the plant sage and 'a wise old man'", comments Enio Vučeta, guitarist and backup singer of the band, a living legend of the Croatian rock/metal scene. "We wanted to connect this to ourselves in a way because we are composed of several generations of Croatian musicians and we have great ambitions for our music to make a breakthrough in the world."
