Norwegian black metallers Thokkian Vortex release their new opus “Thy Throne is Mine” via Non Serviam Records.
To celebrate the event the band fronted by Lord Kaiaphas, the former vocalist of Norwegian black metal act, Ancient, unveils the new single “Winter Forest Cry”. https://youtu.be/VxlsaONBQvg “The new single, ‘Winter Forest Cry’ is a bit more experimental and different from the rest of the songs from the album. I wanted to make a slow-paced and melancholic track based around a piano riff with a more modern and black-gaze type of atmosphere. Cold, yet emotional. It features spoken vocals with distortion as well as traditional Black metal vocals. The lyrics tell a story of a majestic forest in the north during wintertime, but they are open to the listener’s interpretation”, explains Lord Kaiaphas. They're keeping it fresh by infusing a variety of influences and also adding a tinge of melody to the proceedings. Check out the song that's premiered AT THIS LINK. "a short and snappy ripper that jams a lot into a little. Medium’s blend of death metal and crust with hardcore and even hints of black metal is a straightforward tune with enough melody and punk undercurrents to make it stand out from the legion of HM2-wielding bands" Rage-fuelled adrenaline junkies Medium give us their own fresh take on the grind/crust style with their self-titled debut. Their approach is not very conventional; there's something unique in the way they blend the best qualities of genres like grind, crust, punk and even death metal and hardcore to make music that's virtually unforgettable. There's palpable energy coursing through the entire album, with each song showcasing a slightly different dimension of the band's own sound. The dark and emotive undercurrent lends to the music a human quality that is not rooted only in aggression like most others in the style; streaks of melodies shimmer through the chaotic blasting parts and leave an indelible effect on you. This is some of the best, honest-to-goodness grind/crust music that you'll come across in this era, and the most commendable part of it all is that this is from a band from Argentina trying their best to make a mark - the talent is undeniable but the effort and intent is exceptional. Band lineup - Lucien - Vocals/Bass Rama - Drums Fede - Guitar Seba - Guitar Art Gates Records are proud to announce that Austrian Black / Thrash Metal band Irdorath are the newest artist to join the label's ever-growing roster.Musically this four pieced combo keeps evolving without following any trends, focussed in their mixture of Black and Thrash Metal. In the words of the band: "We are proud to announce that our new record "The Final Sin" will be released through our new label partner Art Gates Records! We are looking forward to this promising cooperation and to all the thrilling news we are able to present to you in the next weeks and months! Stay tuned!" After four full length records: "Götterdämmerung" (2007), “Dekonstrukteur Des Fleisches” (2010), "I Am Risen (2013) and "Denial Of Creation" (2017) and performing throughout Europe several times, the band is ready to unleash their new and fifth opus "The Final Sin" through Art Gates Records. www.artgatesrecords.com After an incredibly successful 2019 that saw the band tour North America as well as Europe (the latter even twice) and release their worldwide charting new album, Macro, Ukrainian modern metal frontrunners Jinjer return with the official music video for their standout track, "Retrospection" - a song that touches the sensitive subject of family. The band emotionally states:- ""Retrospection" is one of the most personal songs we have ever written. Being a full time touring musician, spending most of the time on the road … of course we are making our biggest dream come true and living each day to the fullest, but nobody mentions that there is a dark side. We do not see people who devoted themselves to us entirely, who gave us everything they had and more… We miss them and they miss us in return, and yet we should call them more often… much more often than we do. I am talking about our parents. For most of the Jinjers, our parents are separated from us not only by distance, but also by war and politics. We don’t have an opportunity to visit our parents even when we are in Ukraine. And it feels like they are on the other side of the planet even if we are literally only 800 km away. The worst thing is that, now being in our 30s, year after year, it feels like the storm clouds are gathering above. We all know that the day will come when we will feel alone all of a sudden… and we will lose them. The people, but for whom, we’d never make it. The bitter taste of understanding this is almost unbearable. We look at this song as an anthem to the ones who raised us, who sacrificed everything for the sake of our happiness no matter what the costs, even despite our own thankless and ingratitude towards them. The people who showed us that the purest love ever does exist - the love of the father and mother for their children. Thank you. "Наши мамы и папы, мы хотим, чтобы вы знали, что мы тоже вас любим, и что без вас мы бы никогда не добились всего этого и не осуществили бы свою мечту. Спасибо вам за все - (Mom and Dad, we want you to know that we love you too, if not for you we’d never make it this far and never fulfil our dreams. Thank you for everything.)" Showcasing the band's diversity, the unique track not only features the typical technical finesse and sheer brutality, but also scores with heavy grooves and quiet, almost ballad-like moments as well as parts sung in the their native tongue, Ukrainian. The song was originally released on their latest full-length album, Macro, out now via Napalm Records. “It's been a while since I came home... My heart is elsewhere as I roam and roam..." The video was produced by Void n’ Disorder, directed by Giovanni Bucci (Korn) and shot by Francesco Pennica. Full credits can be found in the video’s description on YouTube. Francesco Paoli says: “'Monnalisa' is truly experimental but, at the same time, one of the best songs we've ever written. It stood up amongst the other 'Veleno' tracks right from its release, becoming an instant classic for our fans. I believe what makes this one so special for everyone is that the idea of "poisoning", which is at the very centre of our album 'Veleno' is connected to love. Even the most noble of feelings can become toxic if we suddenly lose our identity, letting our mind and soul become enslaved to someone else. In the end, we can truly love someone only if we find a way to love ourselves first. This is one of the most meaningful messages hidden inside our album. That's why we felt the need to emphasize it even more through this video. When I came up with the concept behind the video, we all agreed that only someone like Giovanni Bucci (Korn, Oddko), who directed our previous video 'Sugar', could have handled it the way we desired. The final result is a cinematic video that looks as good as a high-end fashion film, with incredible production values and unconventional imagery, mostly inspired by the historical heritage of Italian fashion and architecture, while still maintaining some horror aspects. Giovanni and I have known each other for a very long time and I collaborated with his band Oddko. I'm a huge fan of all his work as a full rounded artist. He and all the creative minds of the Void ‘N Disorder team, like the extraordinarily talented Art Director Paola Rocchetti, and top-level colourist Gabe Sanchez (Post Malone, Usher, Camila Cabello) transformed a bunch of cool ideas into a mind-blowing piece of art.” Giovanni Bucci adds: “My goal with this music video was to prove that you can make something elegant and classy and still be metal as fuck. I wanted to get away from the gritty stereotypes of metal videos and since we are all Italians, I thought that it would be interesting to juxtapose Death Metal imagery with elements from classical Italian culture, with its sophistication, elegance, and style. Moreover, it's always a pleasure to work with these guys and Francesco, who plays the drums on Oddko’s upcoming album and is also featured in the next, soon to be released, music videos.” www.fleshgodapocalypse.com www.facebook.com/fleshgodapocalypse https://twitter.com/fapocalypse https://www.instagram.com/fleshgodofficial www.nuclearblast.de/fleshgodapocalypse Lutharö, from Hamilton, Canada is unleashing their second EP “Wings of Agony” on March 27th and this release promises to be more innovative and imaginative than the last one. Lutharö stepped out of their comfort zone for this recording and they anticipate a solid reception from current and new fans. Foreshadowing the EP comes a video for the single and the title track. The roller coaster of a song will bring out the worst of your anxiety and your deepest inner peace within six minutes. It is the perfect introduction to the new era of Lutharö that is darker than before, but still melodic and embodies the same amount of energy listeners have come to expect. Lutharö's lyrics all come from a personal place and they hope that fans will find a connection to the songs. As they state: “'Wings of Agony' is a song about the never-ending struggle to pursue a passion. In one moment you feel like you are soaring on cloud nine, things are going your way and you exude confidence. Then at the flip of a switch, you enter a moment of darkness where you feel lost and hopeless never knowing when the light at the end of the tunnel will return. This is the never-ending cycle we embrace because we would rather be tortured in the process of pursuing our dreams than to give up on them. We want the fans to be able to relate to the strong message on this album and find empowerment from it.” Lutharö is suggested for fans of Arch Enemy, Unleash the Archers, and Amon Amarth. Throughout the song the listener is taken relentlesly forward through the story accompanied by the strong vocals. The song is mixed by Juhamatti Kauppinen of ShedStudios and mastered by the legendary Mika Jussila of Finnvox (Children of Bodom, Nightwish). Listen to "The Daughters"
Bands comment: "The lyrics tell a story of real life that has been raised into more theatrical proportions. As usual we are not going to go into details what exactly the song is about to us. We want to leave the listener the freedom to create their own visualisation of it, what it means to them." Voidfallen signed a booking deal with Heavy Metal Heart Agency at the end of the year 2019 and are preparing for the new releases and shows of 2020. The album was recorded by Nicola Leoni at Studio From Hell, mixed and mastered by Tommaso Monticelli (Genus Ordinis Dei) at Sonitus Studio in Crema.
The video was shot by Rafael Grieco. For the script, the director, wanted to set the scene in a lovecraft-inspired world, in which the protagonist evokes figures from an obscure parallel dimension. The video is set in the beautiful Castello Trefogli in Taverne-Torricella. Clod - keyboards - states:- “I wrote the lyrics for Freely Enchained with inspiration to the TV series “Manhunt: Unabomber”, based on the famous serial killer. I was particularly struck by a scene in which Unabomber finds himself at a crossroads: being physically imprisoned but continuing to be ideologically free by promulgating his ideologies with his head held high or being locked up in a psychiatric hospital and consequently being forced to admit that his manifesto was simple madness."
