Finnish melodic death outfit Dead Serenity drop new single of which evokes bittersweet expressions of searching for a meaning in life

Finnish melancholic melodic death metal band Dead Serenity has released second single from their upcoming debut album. The song 'Evanecent' is drawing inspiration from the presence of Death and the disintegration of close relationships. It's a bittersweet expression of a search for meaning in life from which all light has been drained. Perfect for cold, dark nights when contemplating life, death and lost love.

Dead Serenity is a 5-piece founded in 2018. On their music the band focuses on strong melodies. On lyrics they let the full scale of human emotions and behaviour carry the music from an atmosphere to another - from sensibility to ecstasy and from distress to aggression. The band released their debut EP "Beginnings" in 2020 and the first full length "When Worlds Turn To Gray" follows early 2023.

The album was recorded, mixed and mastered by Dead Serenity's guitarist and main composer Toni Lind. Graphics and lyric video is created by Jonas Eriksson.

Italian dark metallers SilentLie unveil single "On My Skin"; taken from upcoming album "Equilibrium" out September 2022

Italian melancholic metallers SilentLie are giving fans another taste of their forthcoming second full-length "Equilibrium" with the unveiling of their new music video for the second single "On My Skin", a track about the story of the value of life to a son, through difficulties and hopes. It’s a smooth hard rock song, with a good rhythm, and a very catchy refrain.

Always drawn to the dark side of emotions, SilentLie's "Equilibrium" proceeds along this path. It stands on modern heavy tones and an obscure mood that can be compared to bands like Ghost, Ozzy Osbourne, and The Cure. Spreading their dark wings, drums, and bass, SilentLie builds a wall of sound on which the guitars dance with tombstone keys while a powerful female voice embraces the listener with gritty, but catchy melodies. Many of the songs on the album, thematically, deal with the eternal struggle between good and evil, with lyrics introspective and personal. There’s a maturity to the music that acts as a pendulum swinging between 80s liquid verses and gloomy, almost doomy, parts.

"Our first EP, "Blood Under Snow" was a collection of five obscure and atmospheric tracks, while our first full-length "Layers of Nothing" featured dark/gothic influences with some old-fashioned Sabbath riffing. The new material on 'Equilibrium" reveals a more focused sound with a blasting production. It's deep, heavy, and gritty with a dark outline. It's a collection of 10 heavy songs, a journey in the dark without fear." adds the band.

“Equilibrium” was mixed in the U.S.A. by Grammy Award winner Dave Hagen at Dark Horse Studios (Mastodon, Evanescence, Alice in Chains). The album will be released via Rockshots Records on September 30th.

SilentLie was formed in Trieste, Italy in 2005. In 2007, they recorded "Behind My Face", a demo that gave the band several opportunities. In 2008, the song "Silence of Your Mind" appeared on two compilations: The Funeral Vol.2 (for the American label 272 Records) and Maximum Rock Attack (for the Magazine Maximum Rock).

In 2009, the song "River Of Torments" was part of the Blood Sisters film soundtrack, from which a video was also extracted. In 2013, the band released the EP Blood Under Snow, a collection of five obscure and atmospheric tracks and in the same year, the video of the single "Regret" was filmed. In 2015, the debut full-length album "Layers Of Nothing" was released by Bakerteam / Scarlet records, later followed by the video of the title track. The album featured dark / gothic influences with some old-fashioned Sabbath riffing. After a hiatus due to personal reasons, SilentLie returned in 2021 to begin work on their second album to be mixed at Dark Horse Studios in the USA by the Grammy Award-winning Dave Hagen. The new material reveals a more modern and focused sound with a blasting production, but SilentLie still holds its identity: deep, heavy, and gritty with a dark outline.

Napalm Records is beyond proud to announce the worldwide signing of legendary Swedish masters of melancholy Katatonia. The band has inked a worldwide record deal with the leading Austrian rock and metal label.

Piercing through the core in 1991 when Katatonia was brought to life by the inimitable Jonas Renkse (now vocalist) and renowned guitarist Anders Nyström, the unit has taken a fascinating journey from their heavy atmospheric extreme metal beginnings in the early 90s underground metal scene to their current status as a unique, free-spirited progressive rock amalgamation that stretches beyond the boundaries of standard music. Each stunning work of Katatonia is tantamount to a cathartic experience – from their seminal debut, the legendary Dance Of December Souls (1993), to their most recent haunting masterpiece, the critically acclaimed City Burials (2020) – the latter marking their most successful release to date (debuting at #6 GER, #5 FI, etc).

The five-piece has never failed in evolving its sound and unique identity into something that is known as one of Sweden's top-notch musical forces today. Stay tuned for more exciting news coming soon!

Melancholic melodic death metal band Slow Fall from up north the Finnish city of Oulu has released a new single "Exile The Day".

Deezer: https://www.deezer.com/us/album/128072912
Tidal: https://listen.tidal.com/album/129055535

"Exile the Day is one of those easier to approach songs on the album. The song itself is a nice mix of heavy riffs, melancholic spirit and it has maybe the most versatile vocal performance on the whole album. Exile the Day is the third single from the upcoming debut album "Beneath the Endless Rains", out in spring 2020." guitar player Juho Viinikanoja backgrounds.

Slow Fall was founded by bassist and songwriter Markku Kerosalo in the year 2016. Since then the band has gone through a few line-up changes until its current form in 2019, including Markus Taipale (vox), Aki Pusa (drums), Heikki Kakko (gtr), Juho Viinikanoja (gtr) and Markku Kerosalo (bass). Band's first EP "The First Ones to Fall" was released in the year 2017. Back then the band's music was much more into the melodic doom metal sound which has now gone through a lot of progression and evolving.

Slow Fall took the year 2018 to write songs for the debut album and started the recordings for it in the early 2019. The new music really shows all the colours in band's own spectrum, from the heavy blastbeat drumming and stormy riffing to the more mellow and atmospheric stuff.

The single release Across the Cold shows the heavier and faster sound of the upcoming album. https://youtu.be/zy9TToYUD3U

Finnish Melancholic metallers Vorna sign to Lifeforce Records

Band photo: Susanna Raitamaa

Having quite some history with Finnish bands, Lifeforce Records is proud to announce the signing of another outstanding band from the land of the thousand lakes in the form of Vorna from Tampere. Singing in their native language Vorna combine all the great elements fans love from the bands up north. The band's Lifeforce Records debut is set for a fall 2019 release.

Vorna are a melancholic metal band from Tampere, Finland founded back in 2008. The six-piece band started first as a melodic black/folk metal but later absorbed various influences from symphonic, atmospheric and melodic metal - now delivering a dark and majestic performance sung in the beautiful Finnish language.

After publishing a few unofficial demos, Vorna finally released their debut full-length album “Ajastaika” in 2013 which received lots of positive feedback and reactions both from the Finnish and international media. In 2014, the band started active touring and played several shows in Finland making their first impressions in live environment.

One year later, the biggest Finnish metal media outlet Kaaoszine ranked Vorna as one of most promising, upcoming rock/metal bands from Finland. The year of 2015 would also stand for their busiest year so far as their signature beer “Taival” was launched in the Finnish markets in autumn, followed by a European tour through Finland, Germany, the Netherlands and Sweden culminating to the release of their highly acclaimed second full-length album “Ei Valo Minua Seuraa” in December.

“Ei Valo Minua Seuraa” received astonishing reviews, praises and honorary mentions both among the fans and media. This album made absolutely clear that Vorna had now become a well-known act in the underground metal scene and it opened many doors for the future: in January 2016 Vorna were signed to Nem Agency, one of the biggest independent booking agencies and live promoters in Finland, and half a year later played their first festival appearance at SaariHelvetti together with such acts as Shining (Swe), Turmion Kätilöt and many more.

In Autumn 2016 Vorna recorded two to-be-self-released singles: “Aalloista” which was released in September and was followed by a Finnish tour with Whispered, and “Tie Varjoista” in January 2017 which was then followed by another Finnish tour with Thyrfing and Kalmah aside with Vorna’s appearance at JKL Metal Festival in Jyväskylä. After playing numerous club shows in spring 2017, Vorna were invited to one of the biggest Finnish summer metal festivals, Nummirock, accompanying such acts as Rhapsody, DevilDriver, Raised Fist, Wintersun, Insomnium and many more. Only a few months later Vorna left for a touring break in order to focus on their upcoming third full-length album.

In 2019 Vorna are coming back with full force. Now with over 10 years of experience under their belt and still going strong with the original line-up, the six-piece are bringing their anticipated and carefully crafted third full-length album which will be released in autumn 2019 through their new label Lifeforce Records. The forthcoming album is the most refined and most ambitious Vorna release to date which will redefine the Finnish melancholic metal music for years to come.

Catalonia's Foscor unveil first track and details of new album

Foscor are now premiering the first track taken from their forthcoming fifth full-length. 'Les Irreals Visions' has been slated for release on June 9th.

The Catalan melancholy metal experts are now streaming the song "Ciutat Tràgica" featuring Alan A. Nemtheanga from Primordial exclusively via the official premiere partners listed below.

Rock Hard (DE)
Rockzone (ES)
Kaaoszine (FI)
La Grosse Radio (FR)

Lángoló Gitárok (HU)
Metal Wani (IN)
Andfari (IS)
Metal Italia (IT)
Lords of Metal (NL)
Kvlt (PL)
Antichrist Magazine (UA)
Zero Tolerance (UK)

Regarding the song premiere, Foscor comment:

"Our premiere song 'Ciutat Tràgica' translates as 'tragic city' and it was admittedly also our original choice for the new album's opening track and title. In terms of lyrics, this record maps the collective interactions, weaknesses, and individual hopes of human beings in a city as a metaphor - amplifying the myths that we face. Life as such is represented by a maze of places, paths, wefts, and bounds that make us into who we are.

After receiving the translation into photography, which Dutch artist Nona Limmen developed around our concept, for the album artwork, and its cover, we realized the bigger scale and wider connection that everything had with the Modernist Art period. Isolating the experience of hallucination to treat the ventures and misfortunes of the human being in a changing and distressed society, this magical place becomes a dreamlike landscape of extremes where we locate the scene and its reality. The first song premiered perfectly describes the emotional dimension of the nature of our music.

Reminiscent of the 80's monochrome landscapes that we all have in mind, it offers the same intensity and vitality, which has always characterized us and that people hopefully find throughout this whole album. To work only with clean vocals and adding Catalan lyrics clearly mark a changing point for us. Last but not least, having Irish gentleman Alan A. Nemtheanga from Primordial performing vocals on this song makes it an even more special moment."
