Sad to say that it is true, Aaron Curse is no longer a member of The Defiled. Everyone at the GMA Team wishes him a bright and prosperous future, he will always be a Defiled musician. x
Gearing up to open the main stage at this weekend’s Sonisphere festival at Knebworth House (headlined by The Prodigy, Iron Maiden & Metallica), London metallers The Defiled have released the video for their latest single “Infected”. Featuring stunning 3D animation from the London based Smoke And Guns Productions, the video tells a twisted tale of epidemic infection, while the band rock out in a fire and stripper filled morgue. Stitch D explains that the band has "done performance videos, we’ve tried our hand at acting, and our last video did not even have us in it", naturally they wanted to do something unique and so what better way to achieve this than by using Lego, as he explains "With animation, anything is possible – if we want a helicopter, no problem, if we want a massive machine gun mounted on a jeep, ditto". Of course he is disappointed that the real thing did not happen, no strippers nor pyrotechnics. Keyboardist The AvD adds: "Fuck yeah! Suicide, murder, disease, fire, helicopters, machine guns, strippers and lego – this has got it all". Regarding Aaron Curse's departure (as seen in the video), he admits that the band "are sad to see him go, but you can’t fuck with fate. He is probably down there in hell right now, creeping out Satan and his minions. He will be missed". Club29/6/2014 With the official release of their new full-length, fittingly titled "IX", now just days away, North Carolina crossover icons, Corrosion Of Conformity are very pleased to announce their first North American live assaults in support of the offering. The near two-week run will commence on August 20th in Spokane, and come to a close in Vancouver on September 1st. The band will be joined by Bl'ast!, Brant Bjork & The Low Desert Punk Band and Lord Dying! The trek follows the band's live takeovers next month in New Zealand and Australia. "We are really fired up to bring COC back to New Zealand and Australia for the first time in over a decade," says vocalist/bassist Mike Dean. "I've been with Vista Chino and had a great experience on Soundwave and the shows on the side. Our set is shaping up to include songs from IX, Deliverance, the self-titled, and Animosity." Completed in January, "IX" clocks in at nearly forty-five minutes. Sludge, doom, punk... it's all in the grooves that fans have come to expect from Corrosion Of Conformity. The planned June 24th release date of "IX" was moved to July 1st with the 180-gram vinyl pressing expected later in the month. Fans that preordered the CD directly from Candlelight should be finding their copy in post boxes now as the eleven-song digipak continues to garner glowing reviews critics nationally. In a recent 8/10 review of the long player, Decibel Magazine gushes, "COC stick to the recipe that served them well on both 2012's self-titled reboot and the follow-up EP, Megalodon: A little hardcore, a little crossover, a whole lotta Southern rock and (especially) doom metal, all stirred, shuffled, layered and frosted in ways that make guessing their next move impossible. But the band's strategies are more expansive this time out, their tricks more finely woven into the fabric of each song." Crowning the record "Album Of The Month," Metal Reviews commends, "the sound of an experienced band who can still make a heavy and fresh-sounding album," while Loudwire adds, "The album's production is full with plenty of low end, showcasing the thick riffs and potent rhythm section. Clocking in at just over forty-two-minutes, the band delivers the goods and doesn't overstay their welcome." In celebration of its approaching release, The Onion's A.V. Club is currently streaming "IX" in its entirety, lauding its variation between "smoke-wreathed grooves and sludgy rushes of belligerence, the album is a meat-and-potatoes feast." This tour brings a chance for the UK to see 'The Satanist' performed in all its hellish glory, alongside two Nuclear Blast label mates - Decapitated and Grand Magus. Sweden's Grand Magus also released a killer album, 'Triumph & Power' earlier this year in March - receiving similar adulation! And Polish cousins, Decapitated, have just wrapped up in their studio recording their forthcoming new record. After their tour in January with Lamb Of God and the amazing live feedback they received, this whole line up, with the addition of Manchester's Winterfylleth makes for one hell of a tour.
