Australia's Darkyra sign with Sliptrick Records

30/11/2016

Darkyra from Australia sign with Sliptrick Records. Darkyra is a five piece Symphonic Hard Rock band based in Perth Western Australia.

It’s members consist of Gina Bafile – vocals, Dave Lyon – Guitar, Kim Siragusa – Keyboard, Dan Grainger – drums and Maciek Mastalarczuk – bass.

After the successful release and rave reviews of two high production studio albums (a solo project of Gina Bafile under the name Darkyra Black), Darkyra Black was thrown into the spotlight as a strong emerging artist within the world of female-fronted metal and rock, fuelling the desire of talented singer Gina to take the music on the road.

In 2015 the focus was to project the brand as a complete band which led to the recent name adjustment from ‘Darkyra Black’ to ‘Darkyra’, and with the new found Australian members the transition from solo artist to a working band was complete.

Keeping within the traditional Darkyra Black style, the relatively young band begin their creative journey together. With a new album concept on the horizon, their very first collaboration, ‘Against all Odds’ is now taking shape.

Finnish Kantele Metallers Valkeat release first music video from upcoming album

29/11/2016

Picture

Finnish Kantele Metal act Valkeat has been something different since their foundation.

For the last couple years, Valkeat has been modernizing the sounds and playing styles of the traditional Finnish instrument kantele, that according to legends was first played by Väinämöinen in the Finnish national epic Kalevala. As a result, the band has created their own soundscapes by melting together traditional Finnish kantele-music, deeply personal poetic Finnish lyrics and modern metal/hard rock to shape a tone of their own.

When the band released their first demo early 2015, Valkeat quickly took the notice of Finnish metal fans and kantele manufacturers alike. A multi-album recording contract was soon signed with Redhouse FMP and collaboration with the premier Finnish kantele manufacturer family Koistinen Kantele, who have forged the sounds of Finnish kantele for generations, started soon afterwards.

After finishing their debut album late 2016 with the top Finnish metal music engineers Mikko Karmila and Mika Jussila, who have worked with artists such as Nightwish, Amorphis and Ensiferum, Valkeat is looking to take their own vision of new generation Finnish Folk Metal all across the world.

9. Obeisance to a Witch Moon

As the freezing Winter skies are haunted by a Super Full Moon, we find it suitable to announce the upcoming fourth album by Scandinavian Occult Black Metallers Grafvitnir. Obeisance to a Witch Moon will be released December 16 in Europe on Carnal Records and in the U.S. through Daemon Worship Productions. Stream new song "The Great Beast" at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BDXi0AT8C3Y

Obeisance to a Witch Moon is highly inspired and composed under the influence of the lingering streams of Gamaliel, the mystifying rays of Gha'asheblah, the White Moon of Chesed and the Black Moon of Geburah. What awaits are nine ominous hymns to the Lightbringer, the Ancient Witch and the Moon Goddess Hecate. This is blistering cold Scandinavian Occult Black Metal fiercely performed and crowned with a haunting piece of art from Chadwick St. John. The album was mastered by Devo Andersson of Endarker Studio Sweden. Layout design by O.O.

Belgian 'Folkcore' horde Ithilien sign with Wormholedeath

25/11/2016

Picture

Ithilien (FolkCore Metal from Belgium) have signed a licensing deal with Wormholedeath for the worldwide release of their album "Shaping the Soul".

Ithilien speaks of the album:-

"Our goal with this album is to share our experience of grief with the listener, as we believe that it is through loss and pain that our soul is being shaped. This process of grief then becomes a journey through a series of strong emotional stages such as denial, anger, bargaining and depression before the acceptance of reality."

02 - Lies After Lies
03 - Shaping The Soul
04 - Walk Away
05 - If Only
06 - Emma
07 - Edelweiss
08 - Hopeless
09 - The Dive
10 - The Bear Dance

Ithilien is a Belgian metal band defining itself as FolkCore to underline the combination  of traditional Belgian (Folk) music, played with Flemish bagpipes, a hurdy gurdy, whistles and a bouzouki; and a modern metal genre (Death Metal, MetalCore) influenced by bands such as Parkway Drive, Architects, All Shall Perish, and many more. Ever since a stable and ideal line-up was formed in 2012, Ithilien has been working hard on its music, live performances and its image in general, making it a concept more than just another folk metal band.
