Italian cosmic power metal Vanderlust rockets first single into outer space

Rockshots Records is proud to announce their signing of cosmic metallers Vanderlust (ft. members of S91, Dreal) for the release of their self-titled debut. Birthed to travel the cosmos, Italy's Vanderlust is a power-heavy metal band with prog-thrash influences that tells tales of space travels, astronomy, space engineering, and sci-fi adventures.

The band comments:-

"We tried to mix a prog-thrashy riffing in the roots of Megadeth, Vektor and Tool with epic vocal parts like Iron Maiden, Helloween, Angra, and Lione’s Rhapsody. We also put sci-fi elements in our songs, so you can hear also something from Voivod."

This debut recording is like a stellar system with 12 different planets. The star at the centre of the system represents the heavy-power metal around all the songs revolving. Despite all the tracks being irradiated by the same light, they are all different from each other. Vanderlust has fast thrash, slow and doom, shiny and brilliant to grunge, and darker songs. Like planets, which appear like simple small bright spots, but in reality, are all big worlds, Vanderlust's songs are more complex than they sound at first listen.

In fact, you can easily sing along to some of the choruses even if there are complex riffs in the background. Vanderlust is particularly proud of the participation of opera singer Letizia Cappellini who does vocals on select tracks and helps the band further expand the vocal register of their compositions. The band also adds the presence of synths and electronic elements to the compositions to set the sci-fi mood of the lyrics.

The band says that...

"The main goal was to start a metal band that could be an inspiration for young people, a band that could tell them stories from the future when mankind will have overcome its limits and the solar system will be an entire human colony. This idea came to mind to founding members Francesco and Santo when they began their search for other members that could fit. Drummer Giacomo Mezzetti joined the space odyssey right before the covid-19 outbreak. Vocalist Riccardo Morello joined the band during the first lockdown in Italy, so the first song was entirely composed online, using videocalls and file sharing."

Now, the band unveils their first single "Scavengers of Kuiper Belt", which they explain its story in further detail:

"In the Vanderlust Universe, The Scavengers are the employees of a large corporation that operates on many planets and colonies throughout the solar system. Their story begins in the 21st century when their main task was to capture all the space debris in Earth's orbit. Due to the particular business organization and the bizarre recruiting rules, the company turned into a sort of tribe during the centuries. The importance of the Scavengers got bigger and bigger and, at the time of our story, they perform several important tasks, including fathoming the Kuiper belt in search of Ices (large orbiting frozen objects from which extract energy and precious materials).

The main characters of our story are two scavengers during a typical working day. To alleviate the boredom of the day they decide to start a competition to find the most profitable Ice in the shortest time. But suddenly, here's something they've never seen... A really strange object, a very precious object... very precious... can I see it? Today it's my birthday... maybe you should give it to me...

Do you feel like you've heard this story before? Yup! It's the story of Smeagol and Deagol ... transposed into space!"

"Scavengers Of Kuiper Belt" is a speed-power metal song in the vein of Blind Guardian style, fast and powerful. It has some technical sections (especially in the midsection). The singing is heavier and mighty, along with some thrashy riffs, a soft-fusion bridge, and a prog-thrash ending.

  • YouTube: https://youtu.be/d4jsI-cqOkI
  • Digital - https://bfan.link/scavengers-of-kuiper-belt

For their live aspect, Vanderlust is currently working hard to create a thrilling spectacle, giving all their energy to the fans and letting them join them on the space journey. Vanderlust is recommended for fans of Iron Maiden, Angra, Tool, Helloween, and Vektor.

Hungarian Sci-fi metallers Mytra premiere new song “N.I.R.A”; new album “Logos” to be released in February

Science fiction-influenced electronic progressive metal band Mytra is going to release the follow-up to their long awaited 2014 debut album early February via Nail Records. The second full-length, titled “Logos” contains 11 brand new songs featuring ethereal synthesizers, electronic melodies and effects with diverse vocal performances. Check out the lyric video for the first song “N.I.R.A.” which is now available for streaming on the link below!

Mytra - N.I.R.A. (Official lyric video) -  youtu.be/E4hCTS8BI_g

Guitarist/vocalist Róbert Hocza had this to say about the new song:

“The new song, “N.I.R.A” is about the symbiosis of human beings and machines, which is not so much of science fiction any more as there has been numerous experiences where the connection between the human brain and machines controlled by them have proven to be successful. In the near future the digital gadgets on our tables, in our pockets and hands will become parts of our bodies and will serve us expanding our comfort zones as our stationary helpers. This technological advancement will however most probably going to strike the killing blow to the already dying social interactions and connections, so humanity enters a new historical age: the cycle of digital solitude is about to begin.”

With “Logos” MYTRA claim to have taken a much more direct and straightforward approach to the songs, making them their heaviest and most compact one to date. Beside the usual female lead vocals and vocoder, this time the album also features male growled vocals. Just like the debut album, the recording, mixing and mastering of “Logos” took place in the home studios of the band members over a one year period.

The band commented on the new album by saying:-

"5 years after “Beta” we’ve completed work on the follow-up of the debut album, “Logos” is it’s direct successor and it is now finally ready to be unleashed! Over the last few years the band went through many changes both music and line-up-wise, but the overall atmosphere and sound remained the same. We don’t want to make anyone get lost in the maze of over-complicated genre definitions, so it’s up to each of you to call this material what you feel like it is.”

The music derives inspiration from extreme metal, folk and tribal music, as well as 80's synth and sci-fi textured scores. We are very excited to for people to see the handwork and detailed time we put into this album given the limited resources we had. “The Last Arbiter” Album summary:

The sky ghost, the wayfarer, the shadow of time, the exile; he is called by many names yet for the Immortal, he is cursed to traverse the cosmos aimlessly, searching for an unattainable purpose. Chained to him is a beast, a demon from antiquity who the immortal keeps as a reminder of his past.

Upon the corridors of the Tymeer capitol the immortal presents his seemingly profound doctrine called the “Compendium of Ethical Symbiosis” which outlines a harmonious way of governing and regulating the various civilizations under the ruling regime through casting down warmonger ideologies and laws which degrade the value of its species.

Though momentarily entertained, the ruling counsel of Tymeer dismisses the wisdom of the wayfarer. Passing through the city gates tired and morally degraded, the immortal along with his insidiously chained demon wanders into the wastelands of Tymeer. It is here that his journey begins

Russian Sci-Fi Metallers Sunwalter release new album ‘Alien Hazard’

16/9/2017

Harsh black metal male vocals and clean-singing female choral's are blended into layers of symphonic power metal. This is Sunwalter, a Moscow based project classified as Sci-Fi Metal. Their brand new album, Alien Hazard, is certainly heavy and to a certain extent extreme but don’t be afraid to dip into their ecosystem, there’s plenty to delve into and enjoy. Sunwalter assault us in the best possible way with 10 original tracks showing their own unique and twisted vision.

02. Green ‘N’ Grey
03. Birth Machine
04. Drilling The Ice Of Europa
05. Forbidden Sun
06. Message From Nowhere
07. Planetary Protector
08. Red Shift
09. Fermi Paradox
10. Nibiru (Techno-Version)

Here’s the bands own idiosyncratic take on Alien Hazard.

“…Many years ago, high-ranking representatives of the Illuminati made a treaty with the majority of extraterrestrial races. According to it, any contact between the extraterrestrial intelligence and Earth-men should be mediated by the Illuminati initiates. However, some delegates of alien races tend to ignore these agreements, thus opening a channel for unexpected contacts between Earth-men and the extraterrestrial intelligence. In precisely this way, the members of the Sunwalter band were abducted by the Grey and upon returning to the Earth, appointed as secret interactive mediums maintaining cosmic contacts.

The Sunwalter band share all their knowledge, transmitted by the Grey, with the people of Earth by encrypting the messages in their songs. The Alien Hazard album deals with high stakes and risks, inevitably arising when those responsible for the Earth trying to do business with extraterrestrial races. This relationship resembles a stressful game, where intergalactic leaders take part. Lots of secrets and puzzles of the Universe are still undiscovered for the Earth-men, but each song from the Sunwalter band slowly lifts this veil. The Alien Hazard album provides every person on the planet with new knowledge of the extraterrestrial reality, and even gives an answer for some sacred questions touching on the Solar system and our galaxy…”
