Indian Folk Metallers Bloodywood release documentary video featuring live footage of their 2019 'Raj Against The Machine Tour'
After building a large online fan base with multiple viral videos, New Delhi based Indian Metal Band Bloodywood decided to take to the road in the summer of 2019 with their "Raj Against The Machine Tour", not only the band's first ever tour, but the first time they played live as a band. Bloodywood had no idea what to expect on their first ever tour but the response was far greater than they ever imagined selling out 12 shows on the 3 week tour, culminating in the band's set at WACKEN OPEN AIR.
Bloodywood further documented the tour through footage shot across a GoPro strapped to guitarist / flautist Karan Katiyar's chest, frenzied mobile phone footage shot by the audience and the band themselves, as well as world class footage shot at Wacken Open Air.
The documentary tells the story of how the band formed and their surreal Raj against the Machine tour. After an action packed opening sequence that captures the essence of the film within the span of a minute and a half, you witness the birth of Punjabi / dhol metal, its fusion with lyrically focused rap music, the natural progression into original compositions from covers and the solidification of a musical agenda that's hell bent on creating a positive impact on the planet.
After receiving an invitation to perform at the Mecca of heavy metal: The Wacken Open Air, the band sets out to answer a burning question: can an Indian folk metal band, an online sensation that's never performed live before cut it on the biggest stage of them all? You have to see it to believe it.
In preparation for the tour, the first time that two of the seven members had ever travelled abroad, Bloodywood spent around 200 hours preparing. Fans flew from Zurich, drove from Belgium, and biked from the Czech Republic to watch them perform in Germany and England; at one show, an Indian fan proposed to his German girlfriend with the help of the band in the middle of their set. In Germany, their midday set at the Wacken Open Air was packed to full capacity.; the audience was 15000 strong! Bloodywood also became only the second band in 2 years and the only non-headliner to be asked to play an encore at the Dong Open Air.
The tour, however, wasn't all smooth sailing though, with 2 members of the band falling sick after the first show of the tour and playing through the illness for the next 7 shows. Bloodywood also got stuck in a hurricane on their last day of the tour, their only day off. They were drunk when it hit and carried $1000s of dollars worth of equipment on their backs to escape.
The soundtrack for the documentary consists of only Indian independent music, including everything from metal to acoustic. The different kinds of footage will tell fans a lot about the documentary itself, with the GoPro footage showing the story from the band's side, the audience footage capturing the energy of the moment, and the professional footage at the end showing the evolution of the band over the course of the tour in all its cinematic glory.
Yesterday marked the one-year anniversary of Italian heavy metallers Hyperion's debut album, Dangerous Days, and they've decided to celebrate it by releasing a video clip with live footage from the song "Ultimatum." You can see the band onstage while enjoying this killer dose of metal! See & hear Hyperion's "Ultimatum" video HERE.
Dangerous Days contains eight songs in 45 minutes. Production and mastering were assembled as to recreate the pure, classic, steel-solid heavy metal sound of the '80s in the vein of bands like Judas Priest, Annihilator, Iron Maiden, Metallica, and Megadeth. Cover artwork for Dangerous Days was painted by Australian artist Alex Reies, who originally entitled it "The Lord and the Colonel."
Portuguese thrash metallers Rasgo have published a video for the track "Homens Ao Mar", which was recorded on March 7th with the "Circulo de Musica de Camara" Orchestra, directed by Pedro Teixeira Silva.
"Homens Ao Mar" (translates into "men overboard"), showcases a band that is not afraid of exploring and creating a solid musical output, while showing their ability to musically adapt to different environments.
This track is, without any doubt, an intriguing listen but a very quality-oriented one that combines two very distinct universes, and that will work with all the open minded thrashers out there, as well as the symphonic metal fans.
"We had the dream of giving this track a really epic dimension and that's the reason why we've decided to record it with an orchestra. We're very pleased with the final result and we feel this work is a giant step in our journey! In fact, we like to take risks, break barriers and do new things that, as far as I'm concerned, were never done by other Portuguese thrash metal band... debuting at the Coliseum with Slayer was already something unique and recording with the orchestra was another great achievement."

On Friday 24th March, the official pre-sale for the concert film "Rammstein: Paris" began ahead of its worldwide release on May 19. The film, which will be released in many configurations, sets new standards. In March 2012, during the "Made in Germany" tour, Swedish director Jonas Åkerlund shot two acclaimed Rammstein concerts at the Palais Omnisports arena in Paris in front of 17,000 spectators. Featuring 22 songs from the band’s entire repertoire, the resulting film is not only the most spectacular collection of imagery about the most successful German rock band of our time, but also a masterpiece of music cinema, capturing Rammstein's energy as a unique visual and sonic experience.
Åkerlund is notorious for his radical, pioneering video clips for bands such as The Prodigy, Metallica, the Rolling Stones and also Rammstein. Absurd details, upended perspectives, shocks of contrast and sensory confusion flicker through his music productions, and in "Rammstein: Paris", he celebrates this from the very first minute. Rammstein play 22 songs (128 mins), ranging from "Wollt ihr das Bett in Flammen sehen?", the first song from the very first album, to "Frühling in Paris" from the last studio album "Liebe ist für alle da".
Artistically and dramaturgically ingeniously staged, like an overwhelming video clip, "Rammstein: Paris" is one of the best rock concert films of all time. “Absolument“
A first impression of this masterpiece can be seen HERE.
