Black metal cult Arckanum is pleased to announce streaming of another new song from the forthcoming record, "Fenris Kindir". The new track, titled "Hatarnir" is premiering via Wormgear and the forthcoming album is slated for a worldwide release on 10th May  (14th May in North America).

Regarding ""Fenris Kindir", Arckanum mastermind Shamaatae (ex-Grotesque) acknowledged that "This album is a dedication to the flaming giant-wolf, son of Loki; created from the Chaos-fires of Múspellsheimr. It is a tribute to the wrathful giant-wolf, son of Angrboða, found in the Ironwood where he is breeding hordes of giant monstrous wolves with Angrboða. His victorious name is Fenrir, also called Tungls Tjúgari! Hail Fenrir!"

Shamaatae continues; "The sounds and music on this album are my auditory vision of the march of Fenrir convoyed with his hordes of giant wolves from the depths of the underworld to face Ragna Rök with warlike glory – deformed giant-wolves swarming in thousands. This is my tribute to the wrathful, harsh and untamed anti-nature of Fenrir’s mighty essence! The anti-cosmic enemy of the worlds! Heill Tungls Tjúgari! Heilir Fenris Synir!"

Aborym premiere cover of Iron Maiden's "Hallowed Be Thy Name"

Extreme Electro / Industrial metallers Aborym have revealed the first track from the second CD of the upcoming "Dirty" double-album. While the first CD will feature completely new material, the second CD will include two completely re-arranged and re-recorded tracks from previous albums, covers of tracks by Iron Maiden, Pink Floyd, and Nine Inch Nails, as well as a previously unreleased track. The brand-new double-album which will be available in jewel case, double digipack, and gate-fold double LP formats - is set for release via Agonia Records on 28th May in Europe and the 11th June in North America.

Iron Maiden's heavy metal classic "Hallowed Be Thy Name," covered by legendary industrial troops Aborym, can be streamed here

The band has also unveiled the second video teaser for Dirty which can be streamed here.

"Dirty" was recorded at the Fear No One Studios in Italy with Emiliano Natali, reprising his role of sound engineers from the band’s "Psychogrotesque" album, and it is helped by Marc Urselli of New York’s Eastside Sound Studio, who has worked with the likes of Mike Patton and Lou Reed. The electronic part of the album is engineered by D. Loop (Kebabtraume, Limbo). R.G. Narchost (Stormcrow, Demon's Shade, Drowning Ashes) created "The Spiral shaped chamber" custom sounds library for the band.  Artwork for the album was designed by Aborym’s Fabban.

With "Dirty" being the band’s first release since 2010’s "Psychogrotesque", all three musicians have something to say about it:

Guitarist Paolo Pieri acknowledged that: "This is definitely the most schizoid and experimental Aborym work so far. This time we focused on pushing the boundaries of electronic music one step forward while retaining the ruthless brutality of extreme metal in a way totally ahead of the times".

Drummer Bard “Faust” Eithun added: “This time around Aborym push everything further; the electronic and industrial elements have never been so present. Rest assured, no matter how sick, twisted and beyond everything it sounds, it is still Aborym.”

The last word falls to founder Fabban:

“I believe that Dirty represents the best material ever written by Aborymfrom 1992 until today.  Given that it wasn’t that easy to go beyond an album such as "Psychogrotesque", I strongly believe that this time we did exceed every limit and every concept of experimentation - manipulating all the cliches of extreme metal, industrial or electronic music and pushing together elements that are so far away from each other. As a result, we achieved something really innovative, powerful, refined and of a really high standard. The quality of sounds, the nuances, the details passing through the recording quality;  the quality of the machines that we used and abused, the quality of the lyrics, the artwork and the performances of each of us and of all the people who have worked with us, are definitely all at the top. Dirty is a record that simply expands the range of our listeners, it’s an album that everyone can enjoy and really appreciate. I am personally very excited and, at the same time, really proud of what you’ll soon be able to listen to. We worked so hard for the past two years on this double album that we have no words to really explain how excited we are to finally see it released. It’s an album that will further change the history of extreme music. Of that I have no doubt.”

Picture
British Power Metal heroes Dragonforce have completed writing the follow up to last year’s “The Power Within” album, which was their first with vocalist Marc Hudson. Since his live debut with the band in July of 2011, Marc has gone on to front over 100 shows with the band in 32 countries across the globe, including arenas with Iron Maiden as well as a mammoth headlining world tour to support the album.

With a new found wealth of experience for the new singer and two years of playing together, the Dragonforce machine will be at it’s most powerful when they enter Fascination Studios in Sweden in May with Jens Bogren to start laying down tracks. Known for his work with the likes of Opeth, The Devin Townsend Project, Amon Amarth, Katatonia, Soilwork and Symphony X to name a few, a killer-sounding album will be the inevitable result.

Shredmaster Herman Li admits that:

"Right now, everyone in the band is itching to get into the studio to record probably the most epic DragonForce music ever written. With so many ideas flying around and songs already written, we decided to team up with producer Jens Bogren to help us take the DF sound to the next level and beyond!"

Dragonforce are performing at Download Festival at Donington Park 14th–16th June.

"Wisdom of Crowds" album by Bruce Soord and Jonas Renkse release date announced

13/4/2013

Picture
"Wisdom of Crowds" is the new album from an exciting new project featuring Bruce Soord from The Pineapple Thief with Jonas Renkse from Katatonia. The Pineapple Thief frontman, Bruce Soord, and Jonas Renkse, lead vocalist from Katatonia have announced that 3rd June 2013 is to be the release date for "Wisdom of Crowds", their new project for Kscope.

Originally written with Renkse’s voice in mind, Soord sought out the acclaimed Katatonia vocalist to complete the compositions and release the music to the masses. Despite the rigorous schedules of The Pineapple Thief and Katatonia, the two musicians were eventually able to connect.

Both artists are currently enjoying unparalleled success with their main bands.

The Pineapple Thief have just completed a successful European tour following the release of their latest album, "All The Wars" in September. Rocksound described "All The Wars" as “an album of Muse-like, slow burning guitar anthems”, while Classic Rock stated it was “the sound of a band reaching the height of their powers” and Prog argued it was an “elegant, sophisticated work... moody and meaningful, introspective and universal.”

Katatonia also released a new album last year. "Dead End Kings" was released via Peaceville in August and reinforced their position as “one of the most consistently fascinating bands in modern heavy music.” (Metal Hammer, 9/10). The album featured heavily in the album of the year polls of magazines around the world and was also nominated for a Grammy in the band’s homeland of Sweden.
