Sweden's Urn set release date for long-awaited Iron Bonehead comeback; reveal first track

31/5/2017

Iron Bonehead Productions sets July 28th as the international release date for Urn's highly anticipated fourth album, The Burning. One of the Finnish underground's longest-running yet best-kept secrets, Urn have been flying the flag of hate for unholy black / thrash since 1994. Founded by ex-Barathrum guitarist Sulphur, Urn have been a study in delayed-gratification patience and trend-bucking defiance. Their 2001 debut LP 666 Megatons sounded exactly like that, detonating a nuclear blast of classic black / thrash-cum-speed metal, which was further roughed up and refined on the successive LPs Dawn of the Devastation (2006) and Soul Destroyers (2008). But just as Urn had seemingly perfected their addicting 'n' acidic style, their classic power-trio line-up disintegrated and it was up to Sulphur to rebuild the band again. And rebuild, the bass-playing frontman did, as The Burning is the triumphant phoenix from the ashes.

Still maintaining that power-trio formation but now featuring a new line-up that includes guitarist Too Loud and drummer Revenant, The Burning literally explodes with an excitement that's long been missing in black metal - suitably so, as it's Urn's first new recording in nearly a decade. Well rested, then, but certainly not resting on past laurels, Urn here fire off one veritable anthem after another with an urgency that's startling to behold; the energy and passion are writ large across The Burning, and absolutely impossible to contain. And yet, for all its immediacy, there's a certain grace and grandeur to The Burning that Urn have never revealed before: a wide-open, widescreened "man on the mountain" type of atmosphere that makes this pure black HEAVY METAL all the more majestic. However, let it be known that these Finnish bastards still revel in the dirt, just that now they've delivered their rancorous visions in a recording that's their most robust and powerful to date.

Swedish Black metallers El Camino to release new album via Night Tripper Records

30/5/2017

Picture

Swedish underground entity El Camino release a gritty, slow-burning black metal album with elements of thrash and heavy metal to make it stand apart from their peers. It's most reminiscent of the Greek black metal scene. You can listen to a couple of songs on their Bandcamp page AT THIS LINK.

Picture
1. el CAMINO - Into the Dark
2. el CAMINO - Intent of Man's Heart
3. el CAMINO - Cursed Congregation
4. el CAMINO - Penance Upon the Pyre
5. el CAMINO - Häxkraft I - Domens Hand
6. el CAMINO - Crooked Wand
7. el CAMINO - Häxkraft II - Elin
8. el CAMINO - Vengeance
9. el CAMINO - Stars and Silence
10. el CAMINO - Ordeal of Faith
11. el CAMINO - Häxkraft III - Vags Ande

Malicious black metal written with deliberate nuances and with a fervour that's ritualistic is what El Camino are conjuring up over here on 'Cursed Congregation', their latest full length album. These Swedes are eschewing the Dissection-esque done-to-death sound and are going for something more original and authentic. This is black/thrash metal tempered with heavy and doom metal influences. The result is a plodding, intriguing affair, evocative of a H.P. Lovecraft setting and permeating a sense of looming dread. Well-placed leads lighten up the sordid affair, as the music trudges further into deeper mental caverns and hidden structures. Morbidly dark, upbeat and tantalizing, El Camino are on to something very special.

After releasing a series of official videos, Demonic Resurrection have now come up with a fantastic play-through video + lyric video which can be viewed at the band's official channel AT THIS LINK. Please check it out!

ROLLING STONE INDIA PREMIERE

TERRORIZER MAGAZINE PREMIERE

NO CLEAN SINGING PREMIERE

One of India's longest running bands, Demonic Resurrection, are back with their fifth full length album and it's a unique take on the avatars of Lord Vishnu according to Indian mythology. Each song is dedicated to a different avatar and the artwork and lyrics are indicative of the same. 'Dashavatar' follows the band's trademark epic black/death metal style that the band have cemented over the decades. The fans won't be disappointed and at the same time this is an ambitious leap forward. Tasteful solos accentuate the soaring riffs, all impeccably structured to bring to life stories from ancient Hindu mythology. Suitably atmospheric and tempered to perfection, this album holds its own in an era of ever-increasing individuality.

Australian 'Rapcore' horde The Weight Of Silence cover Big Boi's "Shutterbugg" with new music video

Australian metalcore quartet The Weight Of Silence has released their new rap cover from Big Boi's (Outkast) single "Shutterbugg" with a new music video.

Vocalist, Jacob Pedersen commented on why the band choose this cover saying, "We've been quite influenced by hip-hop whilst writing the the new record and we decided that, a classic hip-hop cover would be the perfect bridge or transition into the newer sound we're writing. We're very excited about the release of "Shutterbugg" but, what's to come soon after is what we're most excited for."

While the band proves their love for hip-hop, they also claim a new shift in their modern metalcore sound, incorporating a range of styles from hip-hop to deathcore, which hints at a new direction for their upcoming sophomore release.

Canada's Dead Asylum streams new album 'Death Always Wins' exclusively

26/5/2017

Death Always Wins, the forthcoming sophomore album from Melodic Death / Thrash quartet Dead Asylum, is now streaming in its entirety, courtesy of Brave Words! Go forth and stream with impunity at this location.

Dead Asylum will release Death Always Wins on June 2. On the follow-up to 2013 debut General Carnage, the Vancouver, Canada band has sharpened the songwriting to a fine point and bolstered its established muscular attack with a harder rhythmic punch and an even deadlier arsenal of riffs!

Pre-order the album at https://deadasylum.bandcamp.com/album/death-always-wins

A lyric video for the new single is available now at https://youtu.be/kCQeUqu6ET4. The band previously released the official video for "Forgotten Sacrifice," which can be viewed at this location.

With an unexpected combination of thrash and melodeath elements reminiscent of the Gothenburg Sound (At The Gates, Arch Enemy, et al), Dead Asylum's Death Always Wins is one killer listen!  The songs on Death Always Wins range from thrashy headbangers, to technical compositions, and 'chantable', heavy metal anthems. While it might seem like their sound covers the spectrum of metal, everything is tied together by brutal dual vocals and melodic leads. Lyrical themes include revolution and political uprising, the apocalypse, and-as the band name alludes-twisted facets of the human psyche. The band's famously intense live shows are about to get fiercer when the new material is left beaten and bloodied on the stage!

Death Always Wins was tracked at Jam Factory Studios in Port Coquitlam, BC; recorded and edited by Roger Mowat; and mix/mastered by Chris Holmes.  Pierre-Alain (3mmi Design) was responsible for the album art.

Drummer Samantha Landa in many ways defines Dead Asylum's unbridled energy and inability to ever just stand still. Landa performed with Brazilian Thrashers and Napalm Records artist Nervosa for three months throughout North America and Europe in 2016, including on a tour package that also featured Destruction, Flotsam & Jetsam, and Enforcer. And all the while ran her online business from the road! Landa even served as a Pool Girl on the annual 70000 Tons of Metal cruise.

Dead Asylum will hit the road for the "American SaniTOURium" Tour, beginning in August. Confirmed dates thus far can be found below.
