 German metal quintet Half Me have released their new single 'Half Me' via Arising Empire. Formed in Hamburg Germany in 2018, the band - guitarists Chris and Julius, vocalist Chris, drummer Max and bassist Tobias - are one of the newest additions to the Arising Empire roster.
The band comment - "We are incredibly proud to share our new single 'Half Me'. This very personal song portrays our most quiet moments to date. It paints the protagonist's final descent into madness and the ultimate manifestation of another persona within their own self. 'Half Me' is as much a total surrender as it is a bonding ritual. The Craig Bernard and Culley Bunker-directed visual shows the band's high energy performance of the song in greyscale as individual members of the band are decomposed into animated particles with a series of visual effects. The 9-track album features the hit single "Start the Healing," which peaked at #1 on the Active Rock chart, in addition to the previously released tracks "Forgotten," which Rolling Stone described as "explosive" and "Lost In The Grandeur," which dropped as a final taste of Requiem just a few days before the record's release. Recently described by GQ as "bold and iconoclastic" and released to high acclaim including recent features on the covers of Revolver and King Kong magazines, Requiem is produced by Korn and Chris Collier. "Forgotten" arrives with a visualiser created by EFFIXX, who did the VFX work in the video for Korn's first Requiem single "Start The Healing," which was directed by Tim Saccenti (Flying Lotus, Run The Jewels, Depeche Mode). Over the last week, "Forgotten" has been teased via Easter eggs across the internet with different stems from the song hidden on their website, newsletter, YouTube, Instagram, TikTok and Makersplace in preparation for the single's drop. "Forgotten" arrives on the heels of Korn's 2022 US tour announcement, which begins March 4th and is produced by Live Nation. Their entrant this year is Blind Channel, a band that have been sprinting past milestones and crushing their rival’s records with their enormous anthemic entry ‘Dark Side’. ‘Dark Side’ has become a #1 smash hit on the Finnish singles chart and has remained in the top 10 airplay charts for over 10 weeks, with the song now reaching platinum. It was written as a reaction to the global pandemic that forced the music industry to a grinding halt, synonymously crushing all the band’s 2020 touring plans. Frustration, isolation and depression gave birth to an anthem for the people, and the Eurovision Song Contest has proved to be the perfect vessel to spread their message. Niko Vilheim, one of the band's two vocalists shares his thoughts:- “What we really needed at that low point was an anthem for ourselves, a song that gives the finger to life itself. That’s how ‘Dark Side’ came into life. It really was an instant anthem. ’Dark Side’ is a song that’s meant to be performed together with an audience, as a kind of communal experience. Now we needed to find that audience, and we knew that there were lots of people out there who felt exactly like we did.”  After entering the track into the UMK (Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu = New Music Competition), the Finnish qualifying round for the Eurovision Song Contest itself, the sextet came away annihilating all their fellow competitors by achieving the highest score in the competition’s history and becoming the first UMK entry to hit the top of the charts. Now with their sights firmly set on the finish line, the band will be the 14th act to perform at the second semi-final on May 20th, and if successful on the night, will perform again at the finals on May 22nd. The competition finale will also feature performances from past winners of the competition, including Finland’s previous winning act and hard rock heroes Lordi who dominated the 2006 event with ‘Hard Rock Hallelujah’. Finland has long been known for its love of heavy music, with international superstar acts such as Hanoi Rocks, HIM, Nightwish, Children of Bodum, Apocalyptica and The Rasmus all enjoying major global success. Now the world will be adding Blind Channel to that list. Blind Channel were formed in 2013 in the city of Oulu, way up in the North of Finland, by a group of five talented, determined and ambitious friends – vocalists Joel Hokka and Niko Vilhelm, drummer Tommi Lalli, guitarist Joonas Porko and bass player Olli Matela. This fivesome has stuck together to this day, in the spirit of the 2018 sophomore album Blood Brothers, each of them collectively responsible for the songwriting. Last year saw the addition of a new member, as long time friend Alex Mattson joined to play keyboard, samples and percussion and completes the current line up. Following the release of their 2020 album Violent Pop, ‘Dark Side’ is the band’s first taste of music from an upcoming album due for release early next year, working with renowned UK producer Dan Lancaster (Blink 182, Bring Me The Horizon, Don Broco). The band recruited the critically adored, groundbreaking pioneers to re-envision, reimagine, and reanimate this generational anthem as they see fit. The results bridge the gap between eras of musical revolution as 100 gecs—Dylan Brady and Laura Les—cook up an otherworldly interpretation of One Step Closer, which preserves the signature intensity of the original as it pushes into new territory altogether with gecs adding their own vocals in addition to production. Linkin Park capped off 2020 with the triumphant unveiling of the Hybrid Theory: 20th Anniversary Edition. The album roared back onto the charts, surging to #3 on the Billboard Top Album Sales Chart 20 years since its initial release. It marked the record’s highest position on the respective chart since 2002. 100 gecs is the groundbreaking pop duo of Dylan Brady and Laura Les, who planted their flag on the proverbial pop culture moon with their 2019 debut album 1000 gecs. The first single from the album, “I’m Not Right,” is set to premiere on Sirius/XM’s Liquid Metal on Thursday, May 14. The song, which will be released the following day, is available to pre-save at https://tetrarch.ffm.to/imnotright. Guitarist Diamond Rowe says:- “We are very unapologetic about who we are as a band now, and you can really hear that with this new record. It embodies everything that we want the world to hear in heavy music and I believe many people are going to love and relate to it. We are all very excited to put this out and continue riding this wave.” Adds guitarist/vocalist Josh Fore:- “With this record, we pushed ourselves to do whatever was best for the songs. I am so proud of what we have created. This record is heavy, it’s catchy, but most of all it is unequivocally Tetrarch and we are ready to bring it to the world.” Tetrarch burst onto the scene in 2017 with the release of their full-length album, Freak, produced by Dave Otero. The album immediately reached strong positions on several iTunes charts – debuting within the Top 200 chart, at #3 on the metal charts and #17 on the rock charts. "In your Room" shows an evolution not only in terms of sound, but also in terms of writing compared to the previous album. Many songs are inspired by some incisive experiences that the band lived last year during the European tours in which it took part. “Wait for me” talks about opportunities, how to live one's passions fully, not to let them escape and to wake up every day in a different place with a different opportunity. “Who I am” was written in a personal way by Gloria, who on stage finds that unconditional love for music, moved by the exchange of energy with the audience, which goes beyond everything, every emotion, every feeling. “Queen of peace”, were written in London, has a more pop momentum. The English metropolis, which enjoys numerous corners of peace, becomes the subject of a metaphor to underline that the search for serenity can also find a place within us. The lyrics of the other pieces are at times poetic and metaphorical, with references to decadent poetry: Baudelaire's "Spleen" and the evanescent images of Tim Burton's cinematography are an example. There is no shortage of riffs and pressing refrains like in Your eyes, Mr Right and Wasted. “No way” and "I don't need", present stronger themes, such as the search for one's independence through the elimination of prejudices, fears, needs, and deleterious attachments. “In this Room”, the first revealed single of the album, contains the meaning of the desire to leave your room, from your comfort zone, from the "bubble" where it all began.
