Glaswegians As Daylight Fades unveil details about forthcoming EP

"Everything comes to an end
, the songs of our EP are about loving and losing people close to you, which is something everyone, unfortunately, will have to deal with at some point in their life says Matty Clarke, frontman of Glaswegian metalcore mob, As Daylight Fades

The EP in question, the bluntly titled "Love // Loss", is as bleak a musical proposition as such a thematic suggests. Boasting four tracks audibly soaked through with frustration, thundering riffs and breakdowns provide a furious backdrop for Clarke’s desperate vocal tirades:

“The lyrics cover the idea of facing the world alone, and the challenges you’ll face whilst doing so,” relays the singer, who recalls writing sessions that would sometimes stretch out over 48 hours without any rest; “It was easier to keep going whilst we were in the zone instead of stopping and picking things up another time. It’s not ideal at all, but it helped us write the EP, and a nice 15-hour sleep after writing a song was always good. We put everything into the writing process for this release, so it’ll be a proud moment for us when we finally get it out there.”

With "Love // Loss" set for release on May 27th, As Daylight Fades – completed by guitarists Alan Ross and Douglas Park, bassist Roland Walet and drummer Cameron Humphrey – will gear up for its release with a set of UK and European tour dates.

“What sets us apart from our local scene is the fact that we have the drive and motivation to get ourselves out there,” opines Clarke; “We love writing, we love recording, we love playing shows and most importantly we love music.”

As Daylight Fades ‘Love//Loss’ Tracklisting:

1. The Great Divide
2. Novaturient
3. Hope//Less
4. Dreamweaver

Death's legendary 1987 debut "Scream Bloody Gore" is more than just an untouchable album - upon its release, it was positively genre-creating. "Scream Bloody Gore" founded the quintessential death metal sound, with more tormented riffs, screams, and leads than the world had ever imagined, and established Chuck Schuldiner's inimitable phrasing and songwriting style as the most singular voice in the burgeoning genre. Today, the album is viewed unanimously as one of the all-time most important cornerstones of death metal.

As the final chapter in Relapse's comprehensive Death reissue series, "Scream Bloody Gore" will now receive the deluxe reissue treatment on a wide variety of formats including 2CD, Limited Edition 3CD, LP, Deluxe 2xLP Boxset, and cassette versions. Like the preceding Death reissues, the deluxe reissue of "Scream Bloody Gore" has been meticulously remastered from the original tapes by Alan Douches (Death, Mastodon, Nile) and includes a plethora of bonus content, including previously unreleased recordings and rehearsal demos, super-expanded packaging, and brand-new extensive liner notes from former Death drummer / Autopsy founder Chris Reifert, Sepultura's Max Cavalera, and original "Scream Bloody Gore" producer Randy Burns.

Australia's Cemetery Urn ink deal with Hells Headbangers

30/3/2016

0 Comments

Picture

Hells Headbangers will release the band's long-awaited third album, "Cemetery Urn", on vinyl, CD, and cassette tape formats, with a release date slated for sometime this summer. Hells Headbangers previously worked with Cemetery Urn in releasing the band's first two albums - 2008's "Urn of Blood" and 2010's "The Conquered Are Burned", both originally self-released on CD - on vinyl in 2011.

Formed in 2006 in Melbourne, Cemetery Urn specialize in a vicious, martial form of Death Metal they've branded "Australian Barbaric Death Metal." The band itself has a deep history in Extreme Metal: founding guitarist and songwriter Andrew Gillon also hails from reactivated Aussie barbarians Abominator, and previously played in the final line-up of Bestial Warlust; original vocalist Damon Bloodstorm was renowned as the frontman for Bestial Warlust and for Abominator from 1996-2001; new vocalist Chris Volcano is the founding drummer of Abominator - and more recently their vocalist - and concurrently plays drums in Ignivomous, and previously played drums on a handful of Denouncement Pyre's EPs, Urgrund's "Unchangeable Fate" album, and Destroyer 666's "Six Songs With the Devil" demo; and new drummer Matt Crossingham has played with such bands as Belligerent Intent, Scars of Sodom, and Draconis Infernum.

Cemetery Urn are a study in staunch self-reliance. Their first two albums were released on Gillon's own label, Cemetery Recordings, and the band self-booked two highly successful tours across the United States: the Blood of the Damned U.S. Tour in June 2008, which encompassed 17 shows alongside Angelcorpse and Gospel of the Horns, and the Western U.S. Torment Tour in October 2010, where they headlined 10 shows through Texas, California, Oregon, and Washington State. Now, armed with the support of Hells Headbangers, Cemetery Urn are prepared to unleash their most decisive and devastating attack yet in "Cemetery Urn". A ten-track nuclear warhead, Cemetery Urn's third album takes the unremitting savagery of their first two full-lengths to its furthest extreme yet, exhibiting both power and poise in the middle of an incendiary maelstrom, and further solidifying the band's reputation for upholding Australia's rich tradition of extreme metal barbarity.

A statement from the band reads:

"After aeons of primal chaos, Cemetery Urn return with our long-awaited third, self-titled album of super-heavy Australian death metal. Returning with a new line up, now including Chris Volcano on vocals and human drum-machine Ma' Crossingham, and also featuring our tightest and heaviest production ever, it will shred everything in its path like the steamroller of Armageddon! Prepare to be crushed!" Cover art, track-listing, and first audio sample to follow shortly."

Andrew Gillon – guitarist, songwriter
Chris Volcano – vocals, lyrics
Dan Macconni – guitar
Themmy Rentos – bass
Matt Crossingham – drums

Bangladeshi Thrashers Exalter raise the bar with their upcoming release‏

25/3/2016

Picture

Bangladeshi Thrash Metal group Exalter fire up three sizzling songs that uphold the spirit of the genre without diluting even an iota of the essence. The music is as old school as it can get but the songs sound pristine and sharp enough to slice ears. Also included in this release are songs from the entire previous release called 'Democrasodomy' which sound just as potent and invigorating even today. Exalter step up to the plate after the initial onslaught by West Bengal band Armament, and take it upon themselves to further the thrash metal assault worldwide. There is no band worthier to do so from the whole of Indian subcontinent, equipped with an aggressive sound, vicious vocals, and an innate anger that invariably gets expressed through the hard-hitting music. To call their music lethal would be an understatement.

Bloodstock lock in some more bands for August

25/3/2016

Picture

Bloodstock HQ is currently a hive of activity, with even more bands being confirmed for this August’s best heavy metal weekender.

Joining the Ronnie James Dio stage are the recently reformed industrial outfit, Misery Loves Company. The band are optimistic about their forthcoming appearance as for them:-

“The UK was always special to
Misery Loves Company, our very first show outside of Scandinavia was in London and without the support of the British people we probably would have stayed in Scandinavia for ever, listening to ABBA, eating herring and dreaming of the outside world…  Misery Loves Company + Britain = a true love story. Now, when we return to the stage, we’re extremely happy to showcase our industrial demons in front of the British crowd once more. Doing a summer of festivals without coming to the UK would have been a failure, so, we can’t wait to come to Bloodstock!”

Check out a clip of ‘My Mind Still Speaks’ -
https://youtu.be/ZiPENHSeFYM.

====================

Opening the RJD stage on Saturday are Brit tech metallers, Cambion. As proud Bloodstock alumni (2012/2014), the band are currently at work on their debut album, having released the Virus Extended Edition EP in 2014.

Check out the video for ‘Heterodox’ here;
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HpeerilbWqU
Keep up with plans for the album street date over at
http://www.cambionofficial.co.uk/.

====================

Stepping into the Friday night headline slot on the Sophie Lancaster stage are NWOBHM icons, Diamond Head. The likes of Metallica have often stated that without Diamond Head, they’d probably not exist, such is the Stourbridge band’s influence. Check out this fan-filmed clip of the ‘Big 4’ (Metallica, Slayer, Anthrax & Megadeth) covering Diamond Head’s classic ‘Am I Evil’, joined by the band’s very own Brian Tatler - https://youtu.be/K9P-H_Qd908.  Brian and his cohorts are set to release their first album of new material in over 8 years on 22nd April, simply titled ‘Diamond Head’.  Don’t miss ‘em at Bloodstock!

=====================

Also joining Saturday night’s Sophie stage shenanigans are Brit metallers, Krysthla.  The band’s debut album, ‘A War Of Souls And Desires’, can be snapped up at their Bandcamp - http://www.krysthla.bigcartel.com/.

Also check out the video for lead track ‘Luminosity’ here -
