English thrashcore horde Cage Fight reveal struggles on new single "Eating Me Alive" (ft. Trevor Strnad) on World Mental Health Day

Hardcore / thrash / crossover band Cage Fight have released new single "Eating Me Alive" ft. the late, great Trevor Strnad of The Black Dahlia Murder. Opening up about struggles with mental health, the "Eating Me Alive" lyric video has been released on World Mental Health Day, the international day for global mental health education, awareness and advocacy against social stigma.

  • Watch the video for "Eating Me Alive" here.

One of — if not the final — recording by Strnad, the video was originally planned for May 13, which was Cage Fight's album release day. But the drop was postponed due to Strnad's tragic unexpected passing just days before. Trevor's support for singer Rachel Aspe's work played a key role in the formation of Cage Fight, which is why his contribution to their debut album is so special. And the subject matter — struggles with anxiety and mental health — makes this poignant song even more significant.

Aspe comments:-

"Over COVID I was looking for a new project and releasing covers for something to do, but also to hopefully connect with other musicians. When I released my cover of 'Statutory Ape,' Trevor  picked up on it and shared from The Black Dahlia Murder's pages, and it got a lot of attention. Trevor messaged me to say he loved it, and hoped that I'd find a band off the back of the cover. Not long after James (Monteith, guitar) contacted me about Cage Fight and the rest is history.

Had it not been for Trevor's support, Cage Fight may never have happened; it was a huge honour to have him guest on this song and it meant the world to us. He was one of the greatest supporters of the scene and new music, and is truly missed. RIP Trevor."

On the song's content, bassist Jon Reid comments:-

"'Eating Me Alive' is about the day-to-day struggles and challenges with mental health that are so prominent to so many people and how the sorrow and loneliness can have a tangible effect. This is something personal to us and we wanted to let people know that they are not alone. We can all have these feelings and that most importantly there is help out there, and we can all find something special. We have chosen to release this on World Mental Health day as a sign of solidarity."

With the new single, Cage Fight are urging fans to show support by purchasing the Trevor Strnad memorial shirt. All proceeds will help Trevor's family cover expenses incurred by his death and benefit the Common Ground Resource & Crisis Center. Purchase and donate here.

"Eating Me Alive" is taken from their debut album, Cage Fight, out now on the Candlelight label.  Stream or purchase the album here.

2022 has been an explosive year for Cage Fight with the release of their highly acclaimed self-titled debut album, tours with Sepultura, Raging Speedhorn, and Cro-Mags, shows with Svalbard,  Napalm Death and more, as well as appearing at many festivals including Bloodstock, Burn It Down, including headlining Derby Alt Fest. Now firm favourites on the live circuit, Cage Fight have announced their first ever UK headline tour in December 2022.

American crossover thrashers Ninth Realm to release 'A Fate Unbroken' in November

Maryland-based crossover thrash Metal quintet Ninth Realm will release debut full-length album A Fate Unbroken November 4 on Mercenary Press. The album is a perfect blend of of crossover thrash and traditional heavy metal that represents the band's refined vision. "Plea to the Heavens," the album's first single, is streaming now at:

  • Bandcamp - ninthrealmmd.bandcamp.com/track/plea-to-the-heavens
  • "Plea to the Heavens" is also streaming on Spotify.
  • Pre-Order: ninthrealmmd.bandcamp.com/album/a-fate-unbroken

A Fate Unbroken is a nine-track album that takes the influence of the widest range of heavy metal, 80s-toned thrash, death thrash, and hardcore that the decisive genres have to offer. Not only do the riffs, consistent guitar solos, and blackened vocals take the listener through a whirlwind of Slayer / Demolition Hammer era thrash metal, but the lyricism and quintessential raw fantasy style of their art and themes harken back to a Frank Frazetta / Ralph Bakshi age of pure Sword & Sorcery. A Fate Unbroken, for all intents and purposes, is a Maryland band’s attempt to bring a reunion of heavy metal and hardcore punk back to its raw, old-school roots.

Basing their lyricism and overall theme around the original fantasy realm of Tythorin, Ninth Realm delivers an electrifying synthesis of traditional heavy metal and hardcore punk for fans of both respective genres to enjoy.

Pulling from a range of influences that span everything between blackened thrash to old-school death metal, the music of Ninth Realm rips and tears with a ferocity and cadence that perfectly encapsulates the epic scale and grisly atmosphere of grim-dark fantasy. Between the use of aggressive thrash d-beat and viscerally direct song structure of classic metal acts such as Celtic Frost, combined with the melodic riffage of classic bands like Testament / Mercyful Fate, and an added twist of Cro-Mags / Leeway style crossover, Ninth Realm  wields what is perhaps one of the most poignant new sounds to emerge from the metal underground in recent memory.

Sharing a bon     d for all things heavy metal and high fantasy, college classmates Joey Burke (drummer) and Liam McMahon (lead guitarist) joined forces in the fall of 2018, writing and practicing every week to produce the 2019 demo, Gates of Tythorin. Later adding Jared Henry (bassist) and Ben Hageage (vocalist) to the mix, Ninth Realm solidified their sound with their succeeding 2020 EP, All Hail Treachery. In 2022, to offer a glimpse at what is to come with their debut LP, Ninth Realm released Ondreis MMXXII, a promo tape featuring two songs that both share a track space on the debut full-length record.

Richmond's hard-partying, thrash metal maniacs Municipal Waste will release their massively-anticipated 7th studio album, "Electrified Brain," on July 1st via Nuclear Blast. Now, the band has revealed the shocking cover artwork by James Bousema, track listing and the deadly single "Grave Dive."

Stream "Grave Dive" Single: https://municipalwaste.bfan.link/grave-dive

"Electrified Brain" marks Municipal Waste's first album in 5 years, following the release of their critically exalted 2017 record "Slime and Punishment." And don't think they've slowed down in the years since. “We’re not writing any love ballads to sell records,” affirms vocalist Tony Foresta. “We’re just doing what we’ve always done since the band started—and that’s try to write loud, fast, and ripping hardcore punk metal. We hope you walk away with some bloody ears, blown speakers, pissed off parents, black eyes, and a healthy distrust of authority.”

Recorded in Philadelphia with producer Arthur Rizk (Power Trip, Code Orange), "Electrified Brain" is a high-voltage non-stop masterclass of neck-snapping thrash that'd be the ideal soundtrack for high-speed car chases and backyard steel cage matches as witnessed on the new track "Grave Dive."

“It’s in the vein of songs like ‘Headbanger Face Rip’ and ‘Wave of Death’,” Tony notes. “It’s an inspirational song for our fans to cause bodily harm to themselves, but in a loud and healthy way, of course.”

Municipal Waste maintain course as vicious and vital as ever on 2022’s Electrified Brain [Nuclear Blast] as heard on tracks like "Grave Dive," "High Speed Steel" and "Crank The Heat." Recorded during the pandemic in Philadelphia with producer Arthur Rizk [Power Trip, Code Orange], the sessions would be the first time the band reunited in person after a year. Together, they achieved “a thicker and heavier sound.”

In the end, "Electrified Brain" will give you everything you’d want from a Municipal Waste record or heavy metal record, period. “We hope you walk away with some bloody ears, blown speakers, pissed off parents, black eyes, and a healthy distrust of authority,” says Tony.

Frontman Rueban says:-

"The album is loosely based around the biblical character; Samson. Samson was depicted as the epitome of strength in the bible. Though, we might not be like Samson, we, as individuals have unique strengths that we can use. No matter who you are, what age group you belong, or what the status of your life may be, you have a gift that you can use. The pain only gets stronger when we refuse to learn a lesson. If there’s something ‘negative’ happening in your life right now, chances are that you need to learn to accept people the way they are. The album music shows you how to gather yourself and be stronger than you have ever been, based on everyday life experiences."

Italian Crossover Metallers Abbinormal sign with Sliptrick Records

21/6/2019

Picture

Italian Crossover / Death Metal / Grindcore / Thrash Metal outfit Abbinormal have signed with Sliptrick Records.

Abbinormal was originally formed in 1996. The writing of their songs has always been inspired by the philosophy of US crossover group S.O.D.; to produce tracks with a crossover of short and direct styles, with arrogant and irony-filled texts …after recording a demo a few months later, the band promptly disintegrated.

More than 20 years down the road, guitarist Max, with the intention of honouring the pieces written in the past and never published, decides to reform the band with new members. With Eric (vocals and keyboards), Marco (bass) and LKT, a young, powerful and promising drummer, the band write 7 more pieces and rearrange the old songs from the first unpublished demo.

The result is a record entitled 1996, containing 16 short metal crossover songs with thrash, grind and death metal influences and a total duration of just over 23 minutes. Even the artist’s choice for the album cover was not accidental: completely drawn with a pen, it is the work of Davide Scianca, a Milanese artist, visionary and openly influenced by the great master H.R. Giger. The basic idea for creating the cover was made by associating a single word associated with each track that composes the album. The end result embodies the insane vision of Abbinormal.

1996 | Released TBA 2019 via Sliptrick Records

Abbinormal are:

Eric – Vocals/Keyboards
Max – Guitars
Marco – Bas
LKT – Drum

Season of Mist are proud to announce the signing of Insanity Alert. The Austrian crossover party thrashers will release next album and also reissue their debut full-length through Season of Mist.

Insanity Alert comment: "We are extremely happy to announce that we are now part of the Season of Mist family. It is an honour to work with a label that has produced so many great records. First up will be the re-release of our self-titled debut album from 2014, which will be soon followed by a new full-length in 2018. Tout détruire!"

Insanity Alert were founded in the Austrian city of Innsbruck in the year 2011. Their declared intent: to deliver crushing crossover party thrash.

This tongue-in-cheek concept backed up by strong musical prowess worked out extremely well as their 'First Diagnosis' proved in 2012. This demo was well received and the first impression of the public quickly confirmed by the 'Second Opinion', which came out the next year. In 2014, the eponymous debut full followed and 'Insanity Alert' delighted critics and fans alike. The wild Tyrolians, always eager to please, served a juicy 'Moshburger' (2016) next and started to reap the rewards of their crazy live shows and quality output.

Insanity Alert were invited to perform at prestigious festivals such as Hellfest, Summer Breeze, Motocultor among many others and shared stages with some of their favourite acts such as Suicidal Tendencies, Municipal Waste, D.R.I., Sodom, Toxic Holocaust, and many more. In January 2018, the Austrians will be part of the Persistence Tour alongside Hatebreed, Madball, Terror, and others.

Insanity Alert are currently writing the follow-up to 'Moshburger', which is scheduled to be released via Season of Mist in 2018.

Line-up

The Dave of Death: guitar
Heavy Kevy: vocals
Don Melanzani: drums
Zola Gorgon: bass
