Canadian epic symphonic metallers Operus (ft. ex-members of Annihilator, Vital Remains, Skull Fist) release new music video "Lost"
Canadian epic symphonic metal band, Operus has a new music video for their single "Lost" off their latest album "Score of Nightmares" released through German label Pride & Joy Music during June 2020.
The vision behind the new video is that of a journey through an inner self-created metaphoric world of being lost along with the feeling of self-doubt and the inevitable anxiety of running out of time. The video's purpose is to demonstrate that we all need guidance and that although our time here isn’t infinite, what we do with our "sands of time" is the most important.
The visually stunning music video was filmed by Joe Lyko of Dark Moon Productions and features Bunny Noire in the role of the "Lost Girl", which can be viewed at the following link: https://youtu.be/vaQ_8iub-dw
Operus' latest album "Score of Nightmares" follows their 2017 album "Cenotaph" (Darkstar Records) and 2015 debut EP "Opus I" (Boonsdale Records).
Recommended for fans of Nightwish, Opeth, Wintersun, Kamelot, Epica, Symphony X, and Helloween, "Score of Nightmares" can be heard at the following links:
Swedish epic doom crew Sorcerer release cover single & music video for Rainbow's classic "Gates Of B"
Swedish epic doom metallers Sorcerer have released a new single - their tribute version of Rainbow's 1978 classic "Gates Of Babylon" - through Metal Blade Records! Watch the video for this cover song here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=njPeQpBRmUk
Since Sorcerer's latest release, Lamenting Of The Innocent (2020), the pandemic restrictions have impacted the whole music scene and interfered with promotional aspirations and touring. While Sorcerer's main focus lies on creating new material for a fourth record with Metal Blade and moving forward, the vacuum of the pandemic offered the band some spare time for a fun side project.
Sorcerer had been playing with the idea to do a tribute cover for quite some time. But finding time to make an arrangement, record and even choosing a song always seemed challenging; many epic tracks appealing to the members had also already been covered. To bridge the period to their new album and also to shine some light in these dark days, Sorcerer felt the time was now to put that idea into action. Once they committed to it, the song choice was actually a no-brainer. Rainbow had always been a huge inspiration for all and influenced Sorcerer since the beginning, so it felt like an obvious choice to go for their anthem "Gates Of Babylon" - a track that hasn't lost its magic decades after its release.
Regarding this cover project, Sorcerer guitarist Kristian Niemann says:
"When trying to come up with a way to arrange 'Gates Of Babylon' and give it a different spin, I tried to imagine what it would've sounded like if Tony Iommi wrote it instead of Ritchie Blackmore. It probably would've been slower and heavier, possibly down-tuned a bit. We skipped the keyboard intro because it would be impossible to capture the magic of the original. We had a great time recording this single at SolnaSound Studios, and overall we are very happy with how it turned out. We hope our fans will dig it too."
Sorcerer's "Gates Of Babylon" is now streaming on all digital platforms: www.metalblade.com/sorcerer
After more than two decades of silence, Finnish cult black/epic metallers and pioneers of the scene Darkwoods My Betrothed carve their long-awaited comeback in stone by signing a worldwide record deal with Napalm Records!
In 2020, the old horde from the original line-up rejoined forces, now augmented by former session keyboardist Tuomas Holopainen as a full member of the band, bringing a significant contribution to the creative process, and Kai Hahto (both Nightwish) as session drummer.
Founded in 1993 in Kitee, Finland, Darkwoods My Betrothed quickly gained a cult status in the black metal underground. In 1995, they released their debut album, Heirs of the Northstar, followed by second album, Autumn Roars Thunder (1996), and Witch-Hunts (1998). Shortly after, the pagan flame of Darkwoods My Betrothed became but a fleeting glimpse in the nocturnal darkness of Eastern Finland. But it never faded away completely.
Be prepared for an onslaught of melodic black metal and epic majesty!

German epic metal pioneers, Equilibrium, will set aflame a brand new bonfire this summer with their sixth studio album. 'Renegades' (out: August 23rd via Nuclear Blast) is heralding a watershed, the turn of an era for this genre. This is metal at its most epic and most monumental, bearing huge songs, resting firmly in the Zeitgeist with a massive, modern production and sporting quite a number of eclectic influences. And before the bleating erupts: It’s working, it’s blending in - and above all, it’s still Equilibrium. Quite possibly more than ever.
Last week, the band released the second digital single 'Path of Destiny'. The song is available on all major streaming and download platforms: http://nblast.de/EquilibriumDestiny
Today, the band presents the official video clip of the song.
Check it out here: https://youtu.be/L6TqqOeKFKA
"'Path of Destiny''s music video is actually a love letter to humanity and it's diversity, but at the same time a reminder and warning, packed with serious topics into a strange and colourful fictive 80s world. It's about how people's lifelines collide in kinda strange ways and how all of us unconsciously influence other people's lives every single day. Which is kinda interesting...as most of us humans don't really care that much about others, but we are all connected. We all do feel the same things, we fear the same things and we all struggle sometimes. But one single smile, word or gesture at the right time and the right place can actually change another person's whole life. Isn't that powerful?! Humans are super interesting beings and it's amazing to actually see how an action leads to a reaction, and how emotions guide our actions. All of us have decisions to make, whether we like it or not, whether they are right or wrong in the end...we have to make them. That's just how our universe works.
Diversity is beautiful and instead of being afraid of it or even fear it, we should learn to love it. Our human mind is the most powerful weapon. Use it wisely.
Don't judge so rashly. Offer an open mind and an open heart instead. Listen. Give people a smile.
And maybe you will unconsciously access someone else's path of destiny."
'Renegades' was recorded and produced during September 2018 until March 2019 by the band and Swedish producer Robin Leijon and is the first Equilibrium album to feature Skar with his clean vocals and Skadi Rosehurst on synths.
"The Blackening Tide" is the new album from Danish epic melodic death metallers Heidra and the follow up to the band's first full length album "Awaiting Dawn͛" from 2014.
"The Blackening Tide" is a concept album continuing the epic narrative and story arc that started with "Awaiting Dawn", and building upon Heidra's musical trademarks of twin lead guitar harmonies, soaring orchestral passages, growled vocals mixed with powerful clean singing and a relentless barrage of crushing metal riffs
The story of a king deposed and his attempts to reclaim his throne continue and the album opens with the dawn of the day of reckoning and the march to the battlefield, where the two armies clash in a murderous fury. With victory seemingly at hand for our hero, events suddenly take a turn for the worse as he and all his army is cast into a hellish realm.
The album was recorded, mixed and mastered by Marco Mastrobuono (Hour Of Penance, Fleshgod Apocalypse) at Kick Recording Studio in Rome and is out now via Time To Kill Records.

Morten Bryld - Vocals, acoustic guitar

Hell's Guardian released their new album, entitled "As Above So Below" on September 14th 2018. The album has been recorded by Media Factory Esine studios of Fabrizio Romani and mixed and mastered by Michele Guaitoli (Temperance, Kaledon) at the Groove Factory Studios in Udine and hosts singers like Adrienne Cowan (Winds of Plague, Light & Shade), Marco Pastorino (Temperance) also as vocal producer and Ark Nattlig Ulv (Ulvedharr).
The band comments:
"Three years after the release of our last record, we can say that this new album will mark a musical turning point for us, abandoning the fantasy themes and focusing on real issues that life can reserve in each one of us. All this with a sound that is closer and closer to the typical Scandinavian Melodic Death mould with tight rhythms, guitar riffs which are less epic but with impact, and orchestrations designed by Samuele Faulisi (Atlas Pain), from typical classical instruments up to modern parts with synths, more focused collaborations, from the guest singers to the musicians who collaborated with us in the studio, they made everything more natural and spontaneous without forcing, all with a powerful mix."
Below is the tracklist and cover designed by Gustavo Sazes (Amaranthe, Kamelot, Arch Enemy, Machine Head)

Today, the band is pleased to release the first trailer for this upcoming masterpiece. Check it out and find out more about the upcoming album: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8lqicsKRUC4
The band states:
"Starvation, fear, suffering and torment - all that the inhabitants of a tribe do not want to accept any-more. What have the gods ever done for them? It is time to get up and fight! "Against All Gods" is about the battle between humans and gods and the hope of living in peace one day. A fast song with a chorus that won't leave your ears any-more!"
Pre-order the album here: www.dawnofthefivesuns.noiseart.eu
For the first time in history the band had the chance to work with a real choir of 16 men just to multiply the already high dense catchy tunes on "Dawn Of The Five Suns"’. The musical substance is even more eclectic, ambient and illustrious than before. Thus creating a jungle-like ambience just to drag the listener into the myths and sagas of the Aztecs!
In addition to that Felipe Machado did it again and designed the fantastic and remarkable artwork. You might already know him from his artwork projects with Blind Guardian, Xandria, Rhapsody of Fire and of course from Kambrium‘s last album ‚The Elders’ Realm’.
"Dawn Of The Five Suns" was mostly recorded at the renowned Kohlekeller Studio under the direction of Kristian Kohlmannslehner.
