Korn shares video for "Worst Is On Its Way" and global tour dates

Following the release of their highly anticipated studio album Requiem via Loma Vista Recordings in February, Korn shares a new video for the next single "Worst Is on Its Way". The Craig Bernard and Culley Bunker-directed visual shows the band's high energy performance of the song in greyscale as individual members of the band are decomposed into animated particles with a series of visual effects. The 9-track album features the hit single "Start the Healing," which  peaked at #1 on the Active Rock chart, in addition to the previously released tracks "Forgotten," which Rolling Stone described as "explosive" and "Lost In The Grandeur," which dropped as a final taste of Requiem just a few days before the record's release.

Recently described by GQ as "bold and iconoclastic" and released to high acclaim including recent features on the covers of Revolver and King Kong magazines, Requiem is produced by Korn and Chris Collier. Energized by a new creative process free of time constraints, the band was able to do things with Requiem that the past two decades haven't always afforded them, such as taking additional time to experiment together or diligently recording to analogue tape - processes which unearthed newfound sonic dimension and texture in their music.

Additionally, Korn is slated to take their live show across a worldwide run of headline festival and amphitheater tour dates kicking off this summer and running into the fall. The extensive tour begins with a headline performance at Daytona Beach's Welcome To Rockville festival before kicking off EU/UK dates in Amsterdam on May 25th. The tour will see stops in Berlin, London, Stockholm, Budapest and more before returning stateside for dates in Denver, Charlotte, Dallas, Boise and others. Tickets are currently available for purchase HERE.

Watch "Worst Is On Its Way" and listen to Requiem above, see full tour routing, album details and information on the band below and stay tuned for more Korn coming soon.

Picture

So we now know who the winners of the GMA Awards 2021 were, but to wrap up the event in it's entirety and bid farewell to 2021 and usher in 2022, we must turn to the last bunch of awards - 'Metal Release By Country / Area'.

Usually these would include the flag of the band's nation, but given the events in Afghanistan this year among other political turmoil, I felt it would be prudent to forgo any flags and just list the winners.... so without further ado here are the....

Finnish Cello Metal veterans Apocalyptica release brand new video for 'En Route To Mayhem'

18/12/2019

Picture

Finland’s multi-Platinum cello-rock band Apocalyptica have released the video for ‘En Route To Mayhem’, which will transport the viewer to a fantastical post-humanity future. This imaginary world is barren, dusty, and littered with broken pieces of things once considered essential to humankind such as bits of plastic, a teddy bear, crumbling structures, cell phones and computers, bleached bones, and long-forgotten musical instruments. The setting is devoid of mankind, but brimming with the hope of new life; and then one day, thunder, lightning, and one drop at a time, it begins to rain, and Mother Nature steps in. Check out the ‘En Route To Mayhem’ video HERE.

Apocalyptica’s Eicca Toppinen comments:-

“‘En Route To Mayhem’ is a journey of hedonic needs growing into greed and aggression, driving into inner mayhem and ending without satisfaction. This video underlines the fact that however we think we are in control by destroying things and life around us, life itself will take over in the end, always. We are not in control of the bigger picture, and we should be aware of it and raise our respect to life around us.”

The ‘En Route To Mayhem’ video is in support of Apocalyptica’s upcoming album, Cell-0, due out January 10th, 2020 via Silver Lining Music. Produced by Apocalyptica – cellists Eicca Toppinen, Perttu Kivilaakso, and Paavo Lötjönen, and drummer Mikko Sirén and mixed by Andrew Scheps (Red Hot Chili Peppers, Lana Del Rey, Metallica and Black Sabbath), and recorded at Sonic Pump studios in Helsinki.

The recording of Cell-0 followed a four-year break between albums that gave the band a fresh perspective and affected the way they approached the new music. Cell-0 is the quartet's first instrumental album in 17 years and found the musicians challenging themselves to discover new flavours and colours in their respective instruments. For Cell-0 pre-order options, go to this location.

Perttu Kivilaakso comments:-

“Cell-0 has a concept which is to challenge the listeners to question themselves and ask “Am I doing the best I can for the environment, for other beings? Is there still something I can change?”

To highlight environmental issues, the band wanted to ask fans to do something for our planet; so to coincide with the release of the new video, they have launched a very special competition, which will give fans the chance to win the opportunity for Apocalyptica to play in their living room.

To enter, fans will need to show the band how they are making the planet a healthier place for everyone. Fans can head to their Facebook page and comment with photos/videos showing what they are doing to help the planet and telling the band why they should be picked as a winner.

To find out more information, head to the band’s Facebook page. The online contest is open to all European fans from now and will close at 7:00 pm CET Friday, January 10th, 2020.  Full terms and conditions can be found here.

In concert, Apocalyptica are known for their moving live performances and will kick off the New Year as Special Guests on Sabaton's 15-country, 23-date European arena tour that begins on January 17, 2020 in Zurich, Switzerland. With a set list that will likely vary night to night, Apocalyptica's performances will be comprised of new songs from Cell-0 as well as from the band's rich catalogue. Tickets are on sale now; go to https://www.apocalyptica.com for all pre-sales, VIP packages, and ticketing details.

Slovakia's Malokarpatan unveils details of third album; due out 20th March, 2020

5/12/2019

Picture

Slovakian metal monks Malokarpatan reveal the cover art to their highly anticipated third album, Krupinské ohne (The Fires of Krupina). The album will be released on March 20th, 2020 on CD, vinyl LP, and cassette tape formats via Invictus Productions once again in conjunction with their US allies at The Ajna Offensive. The band will be performing a release show with Cult of Fire on March 21st in Prague. In conjunction with the international release of Krupinské ohne, vinyl reissues of both Stridzie Dni and Nordkarpatenland will also be available.

Picture

The artwork for Krupinské ohne (The Fires of Krupina) was created by Matúš S. Ďurčík, AKA Svjatogor, a graphic designer and artist from Slovakia who was chosen to represent the historical themes throughout the new album. Says guitarist Adam of the artist and artwork, "I wanted to work with Svjatogor already when having the album concept set, as his personal style works wonderfully with the historical topic of the record and gives it a feeling of an old book rediscovered after gathering dust somewhere within lost archives. He perfectly understood the tension between the dreamy idyll of a pastoral world and the sinister, nightside elements of folklore that always lies at the heart of our work." Svatogor's artwork can be viewed HERE as well as HERE.

Malokarpatan's new album will be available on gatefold LP (on regular black vinyl and limited dark-orange vinyl), jewel-case CD, and cassette along with represses of the first two albums and will be available for pre-order at midday (CET) on Friday, December 6th along with an exclusive, limited-edition wooden box-set titled Trilógia ludového desu, which features all three full-length albums on vinyl with a metal pin, patch, and t-shirt. There are 85 color-vinyl box-sets and 85 black-vinyl boxsets available only from Invictus, shipping worldwide. Boxsets and Krupinské ohne (The Fires of Krupina) will ship to customers in early March in time for the new album's release. A track from the album will be published shortly to satiate your hunger for more Malokarpatan!

Norwegian metal outfit Wardruna sign with Sony Music

Picture

Masterful Norwegian storytellers Wardruna sign to Sony Music/Columbia Records for the world, and announce European tour dates for 2020. Dates below with tickets going on sale on 11th October at 10am BST, 11am CEST. Details of the upcoming album shall be revealed in due course.

Einar Selvik comments:

“Wardruna has been a DIY to-the-bone kind of project since the very beginning. Slowly and patiently evolving. Working hard and always keeping the art itself as the primary decisive factor. This will never change for me, and so having people on our team that also embrace this way of working is paramount. Partnering up with Sony Music / Columbia Records is a new steppingstone for us and I am very confident that this new addition to the team will give us new opportunities to further develop our art and take it to the next level.”

Picture

2019 marks ten years since Wardruna’s first release. A series of sold out shows at prestigious concert venues around the world culminate in the highlight of the fall; Wardruna will perform in the legendary Red Rocks Amphitheater in the United States, followed by sold out European tour. The group's critically acclaimed “Runaljod” trilogy based on the Nordic runes reached its conclusion and was followed by a stripped-down, fully acoustic album exploring the ancient poetic traditions of the Skalds. This spring, a new chapter for the band will start. New music is being worked on as well as further steps in the band´s concert production.

“I don’t wish to reveal too much at this point but can say that we are now deep into the process of writing and recording a new album. When Wardruna gets up from the current studio-hibernation and initiate the concert-year of 2020, it is clearly allowed to hope for new music!" Says Einar Selvik.

WARDRUNA 2020 EUROPEAN TOUR DATES:

28 Mar - Oslo (NOR) - Sentrum Scene
2 Apr - Kristiansand (NOR) - Kilden Teater

Slovakian Black / Heavy Metallers Malokarpatan unveil details of third album; to be released by Invictus / Ajna March 20th, 2020

Slovakian metal monks Malokarpatan announce details regarding their highly anticipated third album, to be titled Krupinské ohne (The Fires of Krupina).

Malokarpatan will be entering Dark Ceremonies Studio, Hostivař, Prague, Czech Republic in October to commence recordings for their third full-length album, Krupinské ohne (The Fires of Krupina).

Says guitarist Adam says of the impending third Malokarpatan album:-

"Krupinské ohne (The Fires of Krupina) is a concept work dealing with real and magical events that took place during the 17th century in the town of Krupina. A coven of witches operated here and instilled fear in the area that has eventually led to their fiery deaths upon the pyres of the Catholic Church. Adjusted to the conceptual nature of the album, the music is inspired by the specific mystique and adventurous spirit of '70s progressive rock albums, while still remaining true to our roots of Iron Curtain-style obscure black/heavy metal."

Hot off the heels of the news that numerous North American dates with special guests The Browning being upgraded to bigger venues and some shows near the sell out point, Jinjer have also announced a full blown European Headline Tour in November/December to coincide with the release of their new album.

Jinjer seem determined to take over the world one country at a time and by any means necessary:-

“Europe! We are coming for you! The time has come to show you the fiercest side of Jinjer ever, with a new album, new songs as well as all our older hits and a few surprises in-between. We know a lot of you have been waiting for us to do a proper headline tour with our own production and that time has finally come! Join us this November/December throughout Europe and the United Kingdom and help us celebrate this new era with a bang!”

Do not miss your chance to see Jinjer somewhere in Europe or North America this year!

Slovakian black metal vanguad Malokarpatan stream the entirety of their a special new EP Cesta podzemnými sálami Kovovlada at heavily trafficked web-portal NoCleanSinging.com. Set for international release on April 8th via Sun & Moon Records on 7" vinyl format, hear Malokarpatan's  Cesta podzemnými sálami Kovovlada in its entirety exclusively HERE.

Simply put, Malokarpatan are Slovakian black metal both at its finest and most adventurous. Since the band's humble beginnings in 2014, the band have swiftly and almost effortlessly built a challenging body of work with two now-cult, critically acclaimed albums. A grass-roots movement if there ever was one, nearly everyone agrees: there's simply no other nowadays black metal band who are so vividly able to straddle staunch traditionalism and boundless adventurousness quite like Malokarpatan.

Ever restless, the maverick quintet return with a special two-song EP, Cesta podzemnými sálami Kovovlada. Originally self-released on digital format, Sun & Moon steps forward to unleash these two brand-new songs on physical format, as they so deserve, which are strictly exclusive to this release and will not appear on a future album. The material here deals with a mythological theme of Kovovlad – master of the underworld and its treasures, who abducts a maiden from the world above to become his bride. This is reflected directly in the music, with the first ambient part painting a psychedelic picture of strange underground halls and the second metal part expressing the darkness of the maiden's fate, left forever to dwell in this world of night.

2. Cesta podzemnými sálami Kovovlada II

While Cesta podzemnými sálami Kovovlada comprises two songs, let it be emphasized that this is not just a mere "single" but rather a thematically unified work that should be considered an EP. But, whether long-format or short, Malokarpatan refuse to be shackled in the creativity, and Cesta podzemnými sálami Kovovlada is yet another sterling 'n' stirring chapter in their increasingly bold story.

In the lead-up to its 7" vinyl release next Monday, hear Cesta podzemnými sálami Kovovlada in its entirety exclusively HERE, courtesy of InvisibleOranges.com.
