Italian alt proggers Frozen Sand release official music video for "The Aftertaste"

Picture

After 5 years from our latest album, we are finally proud to release our brand-new single: "The Aftertaste"! It’s really been an infinite work, starting from a music idea created by guitarist Mattia “The Skeptic”, back in 2018. We changed the first draft many times in the following months, at the end turning it into a yet melodic and catchy but also harsh and powerful prog-rock song. For such reason, we decided to release this very song, "The Aftertaste", as the first official single of our new upcoming album, Fractals: a Light among Shadows.

"The Aftertaste" talks about the passing of time, through the eyes of a worn-out, broken man who looks back at his life and tries to get the meaning of it. As he goes back through time in his mind, seasons such as “spring” and “autumn” metaphorically represent “youth” and “adulthood” respectively, as he is now approaching the “winter” of his life. But, unlike it happened too often in the past, this time something is different: he is now wiser, stronger and with much more self-consciousness that he is ready to face head-on whatever comes.

Finland's Raskasta Joulua will release a new Christmas concept album "Viides Adventti"

The music project Raskasta Joulua piloted by guitarist Erkka Korhonen has been creating a Christmas atmosphere for Finns for almost 20 years in the form of albums and concerts.

The project, consisting of more heavily arranged Christmas classics performed by well-known rock and metal soloists, has grown into the most popular Christmas tour in Finland and released seven albums (Raskasta Joulua -04, Raskaampaa Joulua -06, Raskasta Joulua -13, Ragnarok Juletide -14, Raskasta Joulua 2 -14, Tulkoon Joulu – Akustisesti -15, Raskasta Joulua IV -17),, of which all albums in Finland have charted gold. 2013's Raskasta Joulua has been certified triple platinum.

"The big question is always whether there are songs somewhere to record, or whether old ones are recycled again. I'm happy to say that we found a great bunch of songs for this album, all of which are new to us. With the new songs, it feels like we get more of ourselves and our own sound into the material," says Erkka Korhonen.

On November 18, the long-awaited and hoped-for new album "Viides Adventti" will be released, featuring soloists Marko Hietala, Tony Kakko, Noora Louhimo, Elize Ryd, Tommy Karevik, Ilja Jalkanen, Antti Railio, J-P Leppäluoto, Pekka Heino, Tuple Salmela, Antony Parviainen and Ville Tuomi. The album is dedicated to the memory of the late Kimmo Blom, who had a big impact on the Raskasta Joulua project.

"Queensrÿche's 'Silent Lucidity' is a song that I have wanted to realize in some way with Raskaan Joulun for several years. At first, I thought the lyrics was a winter fantasy, but the death of our friend and singer Kimmo Blom in August changed my view of the lyrics. I wanted to take Kimmo into account in the lyrics, keeping the winter atmosphere. Kaisa Korhonen succeeded wonderfully in her lyrics. The translated song 'Lullaby' found on the album is our memorial song for Kimmo, for whom Queensrÿche was an important band. The song also includes Kimmo's speech about his last remaining interview, which was conducted only ten days before his death. Our last year's release 'Stars' is also included in the album, as it is Kimmo's last vocal track with us," says Korhonen

To date, the battle has sent 4 previous bands to perform on metal's most prestigious stage. 2022 witness San Diego's Mythraeum crown champion, following previous winners San Diego's Monarch (2019), Anaheim's Voices of Ruin (2018) and Philadelphia's Corpse Hoarder (2017).

2023 battles will be taking place in Los Angeles, CA, Orange County, CA, San Diego, CA, Bay Area, CA, Portland, OR, Seattle, WA, Akron, OH, Salt Lake City, UT, Dallas, TX, Austin, TX, San Antonio, TX, Houston, TX and El Paso, TX with more to be announced at later date.

WMBU Promoter and Artist Relations Eric Dow adds:

"I am very excited to announce Wacken Metal Battle USA 2023. The battle this year was extremely successful so we are not going to muck with the formula too much. One change is that I am happy to announce the addition of Salt Lake City to the battle. Who will wear the crown next year? Will San Diego be dethroned? Will Houston come up victorious? Will Akron send the champions to Germany? Make sure you follow the battle and find out who will represent the USA with pride in the battle at Wacken Open Air!

For the last 4 years of battles (2017-2019, 2022), Wacken Metal Battle USA has hosted battles across the country to send one independent metal band to perform at the world’s largest metal festival Wacken Open Air in Wacken, Germany. 2019 saw the festival celebrate its 30th anniversary, but due to COVID, the 2020 and 2021 editions were both cancelled. As the metal community regains its strength, Wacken Open Air 2023 will be the 32nd edition of the festival and will be held from August 2nd to 5th. The 2023 event is already sold out with a line-up that includes Iron Maiden, Megadeth, The Dropkick Murphys, Wardruna, Jinjer, Beartooth, Trivium, Kataklysm and many more. Details here.

Independent American bands interested in participating can apply at  https://metalbattleusa.com/apply

Band submissions will open on October 25th at 6AM PST and close on December 15th at 11:59PM PST.

Wacken Battle Trailer Video - https://youtu.be/fjMugRXEc5g

Wacken Metal Battle USA is part of an international competition that sees bands from across the country battle each other for the chance of winning their spot among 29 other countries’ champions, and represent the USA in an international battle of the bands at the world’s largest outdoor metal festival: Wacken Open Air. The battles have been hosted at the festival for over a decade giving independent bands the opportunity to showcase their talents to an international audience along with the chance to win multiple prizes.

How it works:

Participating cities will host qualifying rounds plus a city final organized by a local city concert promoter where one band will move forward to the American national final (date and city to be determined). The winner of the national final will move on to perform at the Wacken Open Air 2023 and compete against the winners of 29 other countries in a final global battle. All bands will be judged during battle rounds by respected local music industry representatives.

Resolution 13 got started in 2010 as a project of Marko “Dallas” Lehtinen, Tony Buckman and Nico “Hardtone” Hartonen. The band is forged from experienced musicians from well known and respected bands and projects on Finnish grounds, like Drive, Godsplague, The Black League, Grendel, Dimebag Beyond Forever and underground stoner rock band Dope Tribe Devils.

The crew recorded its first promo material in 2011, which includes 4 songs and motivated by the first positive reviews, the crew quickly made a plan to record their full length album "Colossal"  (released 30.3.2015). The album sounds huge thanks to a well known Finnish musician and sound engineer Mikko Herranen, who dedicated over a month for mixing the finally released 12 carefully selected tracks. The album’s concept is fictional situation, in which the listeners find themselves along with the band crew being held on a prison planet, called “Resolution 13”.

At the end of 2016 Toni Buckman, guitarist, departed from the band and from that point on  Resolution 13 continued as a four-piece. The group are currently putting the last touches to their sophomore album called Derelict, which will hopefully see the light of day in 2023 via Sliptrick Records.

Hardtone – Vocals | Dallas 13 – Drums | I.T. – Bass | Gabor – Guitar

Brutal death metal slammers Vulvodynia have released their blistering new single / video 'Artificial Divinity' via Unique Leader Records.

One of the most groundbreaking metal bands to emerge from South Africa, Vulvodynia have returned with their first new track since the release of 2021's Praenuntius Infiniti LP. The self-proclaimed 'Kings of African Metal' have released their most earth-shaking salvo yet with 'Artificial Divinity' - the introductory offering from their yet-to-be-announced sixth studio album.

  • Watch the video here: https://youtu.be/X2NQ0kOmp64
  • Check out the new track on streaming platforms here: https://orcd.co/artificialdivinity

The band commented:

"‘Artificial Divinity’ is about the eventual evolution of humanity by means of A.I. The idea of the extinction of all biological matter, as A.I. becomes sentient and runs afoul of all of humanity’s perversions. We decided to use A.I. generated artwork to fully round off the theme!

We had been planning out what we thought the perfect single would consist of for a while. Combining elements from our old material, as well as giving the fans something they’ve never heard or experienced from us before, all while staying true to who we are as Vulvodynia. This song is a special one and we can't wait to hear what you think!”

Vulvodynia are:

  • Duncan Bentley: Vocals
  • Luke Haarhoff: Guitar
  • Kris Xenopoulos: Guitar

American death metallers Recorruptor drop new single "Malediction Upon The Holy"

28/10/2022

Picture

Lansing, Michigan technical death metallers Recorruptor are back with their new standalone single, "Malediction Upon The Holy" a fiery cut of brutal and frenetic death metal with a bit of something for everyone. The song comes from the band's split EP, Horrendous with fellow Michigan death metal act Redlord which is out now The band has been at work on their upcoming 3rd album, which is tentatively set for release in the summer or fall of 2023.

  • You can check out Recorruptor - "Malediction Upon The Holy" HERE

Recorruptor elaborates on the release of "Malediction Upon The Holy":-

"Malediction Upon the Holy” is the culmination of all the personal and musical growth achieved through two and a half years of great stress and frustrations. Pairing our own stresses as people together with the unnaturally fucked up string of events that have plagued our society in recent years left us with no choice but to harness our inordinate rage and display it in vicious fashion. “Malediction”, and the forthcoming record, is Recorruptor at our most violent.

Lyrically, the single details the hopeful destruction of radicalized religion that plagues this world. In the light of Roe v. Wade being overturned, my personal hatred for the extremist, cultist behavior of radical Christianity grew to a peak. Recorruptor firmly negates the notion that any one person should heed to the imposed oppression that religious fanatics force upon this world on a daily basis."

Formed in 2013, the Lansing, Michigan death metallers in Recorruptor spent many years honing their craft playing live shows before releasing their debut album Bloodmoon in 2017. In 2020, Recorruptor unleashed their well-received sophomore album, The Funeral Corridor. That album saw the band's music evolve from their earlier more straightforward sound toward a multifaceted approach drawing heavily from black metal, brutal death metal, technical death metal, and melodic death metal.

Like many bands, the Covid-19 pandemic slowed things down in the Recorruptor camp, yet since live shows returned in 2021, Recorruptor has resumed melting faces as often as they can. Playing Rust Fest in 2021 & 2021, and performing at OIGS Fest. As well as playing shows alongside notable bands such as Battlecross, Throne, Hath, Cognitive, and opening on the recent Suffocation, Atheist, Contrarian, and Soreption tour.

Recorruptor is strongly recommended for fans of bands the group cites as influences which include Hour of Penance, Cattle Decapitation, Cannibal Corpse, Aborted, The Black Dahlia Murder, Immolation, and Emperor.

Recorruptor is:

  • Clint A. Franklin - Vocals
  • Seth Earl - Guitar
  • Caleb Susman - Guitar
  • Alex Schmidt - Bass (From Blue To Gray)
  • Josh Moore - Drums (Summon)

Mexican death metallers Grave Of Sacrifice sign with Wormholedeath for their EP Land Of Decay, due for release on November 18th, 2022.

Band statement:

"We wanted since we started to create an album that really speaks for us, all the songs in it are a way to say here we are, the concepts in the lyrics based on personal experiences, dreams, literature, and the composition of the music are a direct result of the passion and influence of great bands from a very vast variety of genres like death, thrash, jazz, groove, and black metal. The idea and the concept are very raw and straight: a statement of wrath to the current society, a scream for the voiceless, the rage of a group of 5 dudes, tired of living in a country with a corrupt and rotten government, an attempt to change things, and to send a message of strength. We are very honoured and happy to start this new experience and to share it with all the people who want to listen to and follow our music. It's a matter of fact that we're very grateful and excited to move forward and to keep creating the music we love for everyone, everywhere."

2022 saw the emergence of the first official video of the band: "Macron", as well as two singles: "Blind Maze" and "Macron", which will be included in the group's first official release, "Land of Decay", a compilation of diverse influences from all the members of the group and which, united in an amalgamation of aural fury, is designed to rock the audience’s foundations to their very core.
“Land of Decay” will be internationally released by Wormholedeath Records on CD and distributed all around the world both physically and digitally by the Italian-based label. Their influences are bands like Decapitated, Lamb of God, Morbid Angel, Cannibal Corpse, Gojira, Suffocation, Beyond Creation, The Faceless, Atheist, Pantera, Metallica, and The Haunted, among others.

Brisbane blackened thrash / death metal act Idle Ruin have dropped a brand new single titled  "Delta Hexatoxin". Which was premiered by Metal.de & Heavy Blog Is Heavy. Check out the single on digital platforms and the video here: https://youtu.be/nZUKXLTD7XY. The track comes off an upcoming full-length album which the band have been busy working on through out 2022 with Brendan "Pip" Auld at Black Blood Audio who also recorded their first EP and the split release "Malefactors" with Germany's Boundless Chaos.

On the concept of the song, the band states:

"The song's about the bad apple spoiling the bunch, how one individual's actions can potentially ruin a larger group from the inside out. "Delta Hexatoxin" is the compound within the venom of funnel-web spiders, which can impair one's nervous system once infused."

2022 has been a busy year for Idle Ruin. The Brisbane heavy hitters released a split EP with Germany's Boundless Chaos titled "Malefactors" and performed at Adelaide's New Dead Festival alongside Psycroptic, Lo!, In Malice's Wake and more.

"Now with gigs returning full-time we've been spending October doing a tour of Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney, and a return to Adelaide" comments the band. "It's been great finally getting to play to these crowds who've been calling for us to come and play since we started the band.
As soon as the tour is done, our main priority will be getting the album out."

Line-Up:

  • Liam Anthony - Drums & Lead Vocals
  • Kaleb Doherty - Guitar & Vocals
  • Tim Maastricht - Bass

Idle Ruin was formed by Liam Anthony, who for several years has played drums for numerous Australian thrash and death metal bands (Malakyte, Spektre, Decapitated Mum). While Australia’s live metal scene was halted by the COVID-19 pandemic, Liam made use of the lockdown time to write songs for his own studio project Idle Ruin. In 2021, Idle Ruin evolved into a fully fledged band with guitarist Kaleb Doherty (Feculent, When Death Replaces Life) and bassist Tim Maastricht (Wartooth, Kaustic Attack).
