András Ficzek (vocals, guitars) on the lyric video:-
“Brothers and Sisters! We’re proud and happy to present you “Őszi ének” (Autumn Song) from our “Őszelő” album. It’s one of our biggest favourite from the new record, and it’s a great summary of our thoughts about Hungarian folk metal these days. If you like it, or even if you don’t, please share your opinion with us, and share the song itself to let it reach as many people as possible!”
The band premiered the first song from “Őszelő” in June, “Ezer Csillag” (English: A Thousand Stars) is a unique ballad, an original composition with the authentic sound of traditional Hungarian folk music, featuring the band’s long time collaborators, Fajkusz Banda on violins, violas and double bass.

It’s been 17 years since Ainur thought to transform Tolkien’s masterpiece “The Silmarillion” into music. Each member of the band was lost in his own musical themes inspired by Tolkienian mythology. As if hypnotized, they outrageously composed themes for the main characters and started to imagine this huge concept work to which they still work on today.
Ainur has signed with Rockshots Records to release the highly anticipated “War of The Jewels”, which sees the band take an interesting evolution in sound from previous releases. Ainur will completely immerse fans in J.R.R.Tolkien’s war atmospheres. They have imagined every story and every battle and recreate them through unique and deep music.
The band explains in further detail:
“We always follow the path that Tolkien himself has outlined in his tales, so we tried to create a concept that embraces the Wars of Beleriand throughout the album. Since the topic is a little bit complex this time, we thought to divide the concept into two albums: then, side by side with “Children of Hurin” and “Lay of Leithian”, they will flow into a big opera that will unite the third chapter of Wars of Beleriand and Lays of Beleriand.”
The band further comments on releasing with Rockshots Records:
“This is the first album without our historical label Electromantic. We owe a lot to Beppe and his staff, but we felt that we needed something new for our project. There were some labels interested in having us on their roster but when we talked with Roberto and Valerio from Rockshots Records we realized that that was the right way. And now that we are releasing the album we can say that we made the right choice.”
The compositional process of “War of The Jewels” has been very long. It started in 2009 (or maybe before) and it ended more or less last year. Ainur sees it as their “rebirth” album. They have been working hard composing and arranging their music to create the best tribute to Tolkien’s histories that they can.
Fans of Tolkien’s work along with fans of Ayreon, Queen, and John Williams will be surprised by the majesty and the energy of this work.
The 2021 release date for “War of the Jewels” through Rockshots Records will be announced at a later date.

'Posthumous Grief' is definitely one of the stand out tracks from The First Shining Of New Genus and it features a guest vocal performance from Kevin Muller of The Merciless Concept. Kevin is a hugely respected vocalist in the brutal death metal scene who also sings with Soils Of Fate and has performed guest vocals for Suffocation. Also appearing on The First Shining... album are Roman Vlasenko from Abnormity and Kirill Nazarov from Decomposition Of Entrails.
The band have shared a few words with us to give you an idea of what to expect when you head to the Gore House channel...
"Our album is a symbiosis of several subgenres of brutal death metal! You will hear insane blastbeats, atmosphere, slamming riffs and technical riffs inherent in technical death metal, and of course ultra brutal guttural with old school growling. Our members love all death metal, from Ulcerate and Gorguts to Last Day Of Humanity, which is why on the album we tried to come to a common denominator through the theme of an ancient and undersoil swarm of insects that woke up in order to devour humanity and revive their population! Our goal is to get the listener to move to the beat of our slam grooves and just enjoy full quality brutality!"
So now you know what awaits, it's time to expose yourself to 'Posthumous Grief'!
The First Shining Of New Genus will be unleashed on February 19th 2021 and pre-orders are live now!

Today Finnish Folk Metal Superstars Korpiklaani release another single from their forthcoming album "Jylhä" (out February 5th, 2021 on Nuclear Blast). The melodic and undeniably catchy song 'Sanaton Maa' is again accompanied by a darkly atmospheric & folklore-laden music video featuring actor Yrjänä Ermala in a lead role.
Watch the video for 'Sanaton Maa' here:- https://youtu.be/68L3fU164w4
Accordion player Sami Perttula comments:
"Sanaton maa is meant to be a throwback to the 80’s with a folky twist: I wanted to write a classic sounding mid-tempo hair metal song with a killer chorus that includes all the elements I like to hear in a good song. While listening to this I can travel back in time on the back seat of an old Honda Accord that was cosmetically fixed with way too much putty and barely worked…. on the other hand that didn’t matter because it was also tuned with woofers more expensive than the car. Happy ending!"
Singer Jonne Järvelä chimes in:
"All I needed to do after that was add fuzzy dice to it!"
Video director Markku Kirves adds:
"Sanaton Maa is the third Korpiklaani video with the same main character and this time I wanted to tell something about his profession. In this video we see a blacksmith with his young apprentice, to whom he is now passing his knowledge. On the way to the smith, the boy sees something stunning under the water. As a warning, man decides to tell him an old legend about what happened at the same spot a long time ago. But does our apprentice really listen...?"
The story behind 'Sanaton Maa':
"Folklore tells a story of a young man named Matti ploughing a field along a river. When finished, he took the horse to the pen walking past the bathing spot on the river. The men on the other side of the river were making hay and at the same time heard a voice from the water saying “Time has passed but no man has come”. Matti, having not heard the voice, decided to go swimming. Men on the other side told him he shouldn't because they had heard such a voice. They said a man from the village had drowned in that place a long time ago. Matti replied that he was not going to swim after all, but was at least going to wash his hands and face. He leaned towards the water, had a heart attack and sank into the water. The legend is known at least in Kaukola and Valkeala."

Dutch symphonic metal veterans Epica release video for the acoustic version of their single 'Abyss Of Time'
Dutch symphonic metal giants Epica recently announced the release of their new album "Omega", out on February 26th 2021 via Nuclear Blast. "Omega" is the band’s first studio album in five years. Last month, EPICA also revealed the first single and video clip from the album, titled 'Abyss Of Time', which was viewed on YouTube over a million times within its first week. Today, the band reveal a video for an acoustic version of that single.
Watch the clip here: https://youtu.be/tpy-KdtLsZY
Keyboarder Coen Janssen comments:
"For the Omega release we rewrote 4 songs into acoustic versions. This is our way of relaxing after a period of working hard and intense on heavy music. Being able to wind down and see if the songs still ‘work’ without all the bombast feels like coming home. It also enables us to explore other musical styles than metal and challenges us to be creative in a different way than we are used to. Enjoy our first single “Abyss of Time” as if it was played in an Irish Pub while enjoying a nice pint with all your friends!!"

This past November, Edmonton, Canada's Juliet Ruin excited fans with their new single “Dark Water”. Their first of many new sounds to come since releasing their highly praised 2019 album "Old Stardust, Love, and Chaos".
The hot new track features a guest guitar solo from their good friend Diego Fernandez (Eye of Horus) and is the preview to their next EP of the same title that will arrive in 2021. The upcoming EP represents a step into a heavier domain continuing on with the low-tuned guitars along with taking a slightly different direction from originally three vocalists to one with frontwoman Jess Ruin fully taking over vocals.
In continuation of promoting the single, Juliet Ruin drummer Jesse Bauman is showcasing his behind the scenes playing on the track with a play-through video, which can be viewed via its premiere on Sonic Perspectives HERE.
"For our new single Dark Water, we had discussed showcasing a significantly harder side we haven’t explored yet. With that in mind, I had a vision for the drums the second that I heard that opening guitar riff. Heavy, hard hitting and driving. Dark Water didn’t require 300bpm blast beats or mind bending polyrhythms, the song screamed simplicity with flair. From the funky hit hats, to the heavy double kick, I feel like the drums in Dark Water are a perfect blend of KISS (keep it simple, stupid) and Djent."
Juliet Ruin is recommended for anyone who enjoys heavy and melodic metal with powerful vocals, especially those who already have The Agonist, Jinjer, and Killswitch Engage in rotation.
“Dark Water” is available on Spotify, Apple Music.
