Leading the scene for almost 25 years, German medieval folk rock greats Schandmaul have definitely proven that they stand at the top of their genre with good reason. With six top 10 albums on the German charts (with their 2016 highlight Leuchtfeuer reaching #1 and most recently, 2019's Artus, at #2), successful tours and numerous festival appearances, as well as millions of streams on digital platforms, Schandmaul have summited to the top of the folk rock scene without a doubt. With their upcoming 11th studio album, Knüppel aus dem Sack, out June 10, Schandmaul once again demonstrate their inimitable talent as songwriters and storytellers.

After the first single and title track were recently served as prelude to this massive milestone,  Schandmaul have just granted the next exciting insight with their second hymn, entitled  “Königsgarde”. The multifaceted track marks an undeniable highlight and uplifting anthem packed with catchy melodies and rousing bagpipe elements and features high-class guest appearances by Saltatio Mortis and Feuerschwanz!

Thomas Lindner on “Königsgarde”:

"Stick together, stand together, stand up for each other, side by side, back to back - this is a noble goal, a source of our strength, not only these days, but at any time. The "Königsgarde" (Engl. king's guard) is an ode to unity."

Ben Metzner (Feuerschwanz u. d'Artagnan) adds:

"When Schandmaul asked me to be a part of the "Königsgarde" together with Saltatio Mortis, there was no doubt, I was in immediately! With both bands I have many concerts and memories in common. In my younger years I found my way to medieval rock through exactly these bands in the first place. The circle is closing now and I'm happy to be part of it!"

Saltatio Mortis on the song:

“We are really happy to be part of the king's guard. It was about 20 years ago when our paths crossed with Schandmaul’s for the first time. Colleagues became friends and the meetings on common performances became unforgettable moments. We have shared many beers, joy and sorrow. When Schandmaul invited us to participate in their song and video, we were happy from the bottom of our hearts and, of course, we participated wholeheartedly. Hopefully we will see each other very soon to celebrate the album and the alliance of the king's guard!”

Since their debut, Wahre Helden, released in 1999, Schandmaul has been a reliable force of top-notch, high-level folk rock full of exciting, captivating storytelling, performed by genre-trademarked instruments such as bagpipes, hurdy-gurdy and folk flutes, all topped with the unmistakable skills of vocalist Thomas Lindner.

"We report back! A rocking album, nevertheless unmistakably Schandmaul. Fresh wind came additionally by producer Simon Michael, who tickled unexpected sides from the band..." (Martin Duckstein)

"The new Schandmaul album is really on fire and with the first single we literally take the "cudgel out of the sack"! Look forward with us to a fantastic video, and that we can finally rock together again at concerts. We have the music for it in our luggage." (Stefan Brunner)

“Out of the cultural lockdown, out of the cold of winter, out of rigidity. Time to go out again, to meet and move. To new music, peacefully united. May the album be a ray of hope, especially now in these sad times. Peace." (Matthias Richter)

Co-founders of the German medieval metal / rock movement Subway To Sally celebrate the 20th anniversary of their hit album, Herzblut, which has reached more than 6.3 million streams on Spotify alone, with an epic reissue of their song "So Rot" alongside an atmospheric music video! Throughout their nearly 30-year career, the formation from Potsdam has recorded 13 studio albums, performed at over 1600 concerts worldwide and toured numerous times at the biggest metal & rock festivals such as Rock am Ring, Greenfield, Nova Rock and Wacken Open Air, where they stood on stage as proud record-keepers more times than any other band in the world!

With the high-quality production on the new version, Subway To Sally shows a new facet of their classic fan favourite "So Rot". The introduction is provided by crackling backdrops and frontman Eric's narrative vocals, accompanied by warm guitars and ambient percussion. However, the atmospheric soundscape gains more and more strength as it progresses and promises a multi-faceted performance alternating between gripping electric guitars, clashing cymbals and rousing kickdowns that always go hand in hand with medieval background music. New and old fans are guaranteed to be thrilled!

The band on "So Rot XXMMI":

"If you go by sales figures, HERZBLUT is one of our most successful albums to date. But not only that, the record is also very popular with our fans. No wonder, since numerous Subway To Sally classics can be found on it. The track "So Rot" is one of the secret favourites of both us and our fans. It was a heartful wish for us to transport this song into the year 2021 on its anniversary. We think we have succeeded well with the new edition and are sure that our fans are happy about this little present."

]
A few months ago, Subway To Sally released their traditional Eisheilge Nacht for the first time as a virtual concert experience, including top-class guests. The result has become a strong DVD / BluRay / CD.

German medieval metallers Subway To Sally unveil new video for “Kleid Aus Rosen”

Subway To Sally have released the second video from their new live Blu-Ray, Eisheilige Nacht - Back To Lindenpark. This special, intimate version of the fan favourite "Kleid Aus Rosen" (EN: Dress Of Roses) offers an absolute world premiere: Ally Storch, as well as Saskia and Birgit from Schandmaul, intonate the legendary three-part polyphony at the beginning of the song for the first time ever live.

This version of "Kleid Aus Rosen" stands for what Eisheilige Nacht - Back To Lindenpark is all about: an intimate setting, special guests and unique production.

Bodenski on "Kleid Aus Rosen":

"There are lyrics that you write in one ride. I can still remember exactly how I put this story on paper. In my mind's eye I saw a balladeer standing in the marketplace with a display board and telling his audience this gruesome story, perhaps as a lesson and warning for young girls.

I actually believed at the time that the lyrics would not be suitable for Subway To Sally. I was so wrong. When I heard Ingo's brilliant composition to this text, I was thrilled. It is rightly one of our most popular songs. Everything about this song is just right. In the studio, Sigrid Hausen, better known as Syrah, helped us to sing the three-part intro. Until the Eisheilige Nacht Online, this intro was always recorded. It was a special experience for us to hear it live for the first time!"

German medieval rock masters Feuerschwanz have released the official music video for the cover of "I See Fire", the seminal song from Peter Jackson's cinematic adaption of J.R.R. Tolkien's middle-earth epic, The Hobbit. The song comes off the bonus covers album Die Sieben Todsünden which will be released as part of the deluxe version of the band's upcoming new album, Das Elfte Gebot, on June 26.

Watch "I See Fire" HERE!

Commented the band:-

"When we were brainstorming which songs we'd choose for our covers album Die Sieben Todsünden, this song was so close to our hearts, the dragon fans and middle-earth nerds that we are. The original version still makes us shiver and can't really be topped, so we used powerful guitars, folky bagpipes and epic fiddles. It's a song about unity while facing destruction war and death and also marks our first song in English.

The video was shot in the mystic Southwest of England on the coast of Cornwall where Hauptmann, Hodi and Mieze Musch-Musch went last fall."

Das Elfte Gebot is the successor of 2018's extremely successful album, Methämmer, (#6 in the official German album charts) and is scheduled for a June 26 release via Napalm Records.

The band recently released the live music video for the brand new single, "Metfest“ (Stream/Watch) as well as the music video for the title track (Stream/Watch).

FEUERSCHWANZ are:

Hauptmann Feuerschwanz - vocals, guitars
Johanna von der Vögelweide - fiddle, hurdy gurdy
Sir Lanzeflott - drums
Jarne Hodinsson - bass
Prinz Hodenherz - pipes, guitars, vocals

Watch Das Elfte Gebot HERE!

""Das Elfte Gebot" is exactly what we've been singing about for the past 15 years. Valar Moghulis - all men must die. Whatever you may call it: at some point life will be over and all of us have to ask ourselves what we've done with the time that had been given to us. Ever since the passing of my mother, mortality is a constant passenger within my thoughts and emotions. This may result in ballads, songs that celebrate life - or angry metal. "Das Elfte Gebot" has it all", explains singer and winds player Hodi.

Das Elfte Gebot is the successor of 2018's extremely successful album, Methämmer, (#6 in the official German album charts) and is scheduled for a June 26 release via Napalm Records.
