Melbourne progressive metal outfit Ironstone release ‘Shiny Things’, their first single for 2022. "Shiny Things" pushes and pulls between heavy, low tuned percussive guitars and a groovy vibe, all the while slamming down riffs, hooks, and melody galore. Exploring a somewhat quirky feel the band has managed to inject fun into an otherwise heavy, hard-hitting track. With a mix of clean and extreme vocals, catchy choruses and crushing breakdowns, "Shiny Things" takes the listener on quite a ride. There’s also a clear message in the lyrics about the downside of being too focused on material things and forgetting what’s really important. "Shiny Things" is accompanied by a very entertaining video, where the band really allows their personality to shine through. The video tells the story of a lonely guy who’s trying to fill the void in his life by purchasing ‘stuff’ from TV infomercials. In a strange twist and ‘groundhog day’ style of repetition, he eventually discovers the thing he REALLY needs. The band says… “We had a lot of fun writing Shiny Things and an absolute blast making the video. We’re bombarded on a daily basis with advertising and a glossed over version of reality, and it’s all too easy to become drawn in. We saw an opportunity to poke a bit of fun while still demonstrating that the things we desire don’t always bring happiness, and a shiny exterior doesn’t always mean quality within.” "Shiny Things" was mixed by Chris Themelco of Monolith Studios and mastered by Acle Kahney of Tesseract. It comes as a follow up to Ironstone’s late November release, ‘Mr. Struggle. Ironstone is having a launch show for ‘Shiny Things’ on Thursday 3rd of March at Stay Gold in Melbourne. Joining them on the night are Suspyria and Nth Rd. Tickets are available through Eventbrite here: https://bit.ly/3sFQYeO IRONSTONE are:

Regarding the album the band say:- “This album is a memento of the toughest, yet the best couple of years in our lives. During the darkening evenings of autumn, we wrote more material and soon we were in a situation where making a full length album was a better option than the originally planned EP. "Northern Winds" is the opening track of the upcoming album and it tells the story of a situation where an individual has to face an impending threat and follow his instincts in order to survive." “So Grim, So True, So Real”. Hallowed words that ring true for metalheads the world over, particularly for those living in far-flung corners of the earth where freedom of expression and socio-political upheaval makes it almost impossible to follow your passions. Spanish modern metallers Synlakross have released their new music video "Last Tour Requiem". They share their thoughts regarding the music video:- "Due to everything that is happening in the world we think it is time to release a protest song like this. Speaks for itself. Let that shit burn to ashes. If you turn on the word "Tour", because it's like muted, the song has another message." The new song is available across various streaming services: https://synlakross.bfan.link/last-tour-requiem Pre order the new EP "Ideas Are Bulletproof" here:- https://www.synlakross.com/store-1 Two years after the release of their sensational "Palindrome" album, Timisoara, Romania based Katharos XIII announce the release of their fourth opus this Spring, a new collaboration with Loud Rage Music. The first single Neurastenia is now online below. Emilian Matlak, the band's founding member, spoke about the new single and album: "Neurastenia was filmed and directed by Alexandru Das and represents only a frame of a certain piece of emotion transmitted to us in a universal frequency by a group of dead cosmonauts from the future. They still float through the cosmos and send signals with life experiences, hopes, tragedies as a part of a chthonian collective conscience. In this case the first transmission - Neurastenia - is about seclusion, alienation, spleen feelings and the difficulty of finding a daily reason for existence. The new album will encapsulate six different dreams delivered from the times when the itinerant cosmonauts had a telluric existence. We like the words of Kurt Vonnegut and the imagery of Andrei Tarkovski, so we tried to embed this in our aesthetics and in every word or expression to resonate with our own personal philosophy." More details about the concept, recording process and the release date of the full-length will follow in the near future. https://www.facebook.com/KatharosXIII https://linktr.ee/loudragemusic |
