New York based industrial metal duo Hanzel und Gretyl return with their glorious ninth album, ‘Hexennacht’, a bestial feast of mechanised blast beats, ear-splitting guitars and shrieks from the very bowels of hell! It sees Kaizer Von Loopy and Vas Kallas continue their dark descent into the forest of an imagined Bavarian Halloween, blending black metal themes and aesthetics with industrial strength power. Surrender to the dark side of the galactic forest and enjoy the evil madness of ‘Hexennacht’ as HuG beseech you to join them in their glorious damnation from an otherworldly vortex. Formed in New York in 1993, Hanzel und Gretyl have released eight previous albums and toured with Marilyn Manson, Prong, Slipknot, Rammstein, Ministry and Cradle Of Filth. The band began their association with Metropolis Records in 2003 when the label issued the third HuG album, ‘Über Alles’, which was described as a 'futuristic Wagnerian rock opera' and received great reviews from publications as diverse as Kerrang! (UK) and The Village Voice (US). Follow-up ‘Scheissmessiah’ was memorably reviewed as ‘Handel’s Messiah from Hell’, while death and black metal elements were incorporated into HuG’s sound on 2008 concept record ’2012: Zwanzig Zwölf’. ‘Born To Be Heiled’ (2012) was an eclectic blend of death, black and doom metal, classic rock, electronic and industrial elements and ‘Black Forest Metal’ (2014), employed satanic themes cross-referenced with forest motifs from the original Brothers Grimm fairy tale. 2018 saw the duo celebrate their 25th anniversary with the release of ‘Satanik Germanik’. Recently New Noise Magazine hosted the official premiere of the "Below the Waves" single HERE! George De Decker is responsible for the EP's stunning artwork, which is available above. The official video of the EP's first single, "Nadir", was launched on YouTube HERE. Buried deep in the consciousness of four divergent souls from Mechelen grew a beast enchained by melancholy named Hamelin. Though they are in the process of releasing their first EP, they are in no way new to the scene. With all of them having a background in Belgium’s metal scene and coming from different bands and projects, you might just find yourself impressed by their unique sound and dynamic. The combined musical backgrounds of their members fell effortlessly into place, pushing a sound that is characterised by a strong atmosphere and melody drifting between melancholy and hope, longing for light as we drift further into the void. With haunting and calm riffs, cathartic vocals, pounding and yet serene drums and a dynamic composition Hamelin’s debut EP will drag the listener through a sorrowful journey into a maelstrom of blackened and atmospheric metal. Line-up: Jason Bond - Guitar Casper De Decker - Vocals, Keys Jesse Massant - Bass Jan Dries - Drums Pre-order:

Kazakhstan thrashers Zarraza have revealed a lyric video for their song "Bullets & Beliefs 19". The track is taken from their upcoming release Rotten Remains which will be released on November 29th. Watch the video here: https://youtu.be/Veif3-hBlkM The band says:-
"This EP is new but at the same time old. All songs are old – they were written years ago and released on self-produced demos Bullets & Beliefs (2012) and Cutting Meat. Fast & Loud (2013). We decided to re-recorded it fully because we still play some of this shit live. So we carefully dig these remains, inject them with new viruses and put out as EP." They continued:- "Also it is our way to honour ex-mates who help us start Zarraza: guitarists Max Saklakov and Damir Yunussov, bass player Alex Filatoff. Guys! Though you escaped from the band you are still infected and keep rotting with us! And last... The EP was recorded with bassist Eugene Hablack who left the band in the middle of the recording process but helps us to finish it. Thanks for your support (though our new bass player Adil Aliakpar is jealous as fuck!)" |
