Roadrunner Records UK, Europe, Canada depts axed.

The rumour is that the UK, Europe and Canada offices of international sub-label Roadrunner Records (owned by the mega-huge Warner Music Group) is being shut down, this is possibly seen as a financial decision following potential setbacks through profitability, however there is the other view that due to the excessive availability of downloading in the aforementioned regions, WMG decided to pull the plug, with the current international economy in a dire situation as it is this is another blow to the music industry. Sure there is going to be beneficiaries along the way but in hindsight the slumber of fresh talent may have all but paved the way for this collapse to occur. The suitable irony of this situation is that many other internationally based record labels like Nuclear Blast who have head offices in Germany, USA and Brazil; with reps in UK, Japan, Australia and South Africa (the latter being their latest addition) have not felt the pinch that Roadrunner has felt albeit the ownership in question. Whatever the reason for WMG's sudden swipe of the axe, it is surely going to be very quiet with the international presence now vacant, vanished - let alone allowing American dominionism to continue to develop. Global Metal Apocalypse fully backs all those affected and offers tremendous support to those bands unfortunately having to be dropped from the label.

_ Norwegian Grunge Rock / Metallers Angerman has penned a deal with Wormholedeath/Aural Music Group. 23rd April will see the band enter Realsound Studio in Parma, Italy with producer Wahoomi Corvi (Crysalys, The Way Of Purity, Haterial). Release date is yet tbc but is likely to be sometime in 2012.

The whole band together stated :

"Angerman is extremely proud to announce the beginning of this adventure with Wormholedeath! The label has the same frame of mind as the band and therefore we feel very comfortable with Wormholedeath. Angerman is looking forward to a long and rewarding relationship with Wormholedeath."

A&R "Worm" stated:

"no bla bla bla at this time...We wanted and chased a band like this worldwide, for a long time. Now we found it and I am not sure it's just a case that we found it in Norway. Angerman are what we
really wanted to sign in terms of music quality, target and sound to demonstrate that we are not only an extreme label but we can work with productions that could fit the mass market and wider audience. Listen to the demo I got and understand why I signed them...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=18WPaMXz6Hg&feature=youtu.be Also, after a day and night together I understood that these guys are true and I really loved the way they are. No frills this time, just Angerman and a dream come true, thank you Norway, once again!!!"

October Tide sign to Pulverised Records

10/4/2012

Picture
_ Swedish Melodic Death Doomsters October Tide has inked a worldwide deal with Singapore record label Pulverised Records.

This comes in the wake of their reformation after a year's absence and consequently they wasted no time and went on to release the acclaimed new album after eleven years with "A Thin Shell".

2012 sees the quintet plugging away at their as-of-yet untitled new album and is sure to cause a storm amongst the foundations of the Swedish Metal scene. They are scheduled to record it at the well-known Swedish Black Lounge Studio (Scar Symmetry, Carnal Forge, etc) and will be produced by the Swedish legend that is Jonas Kjellgren.

The drummer Robin Bergh had this to say in reflection of the band's latest achievements:

"We are extremely pleased to sign with Pulverised Records for the next album and beyond. During the negotiations for the new deal we noticed that Roy, Calvin and the entire Pulverised crew were seriously thrilled about the band and the art we create, hence we are confident that this doomish union will bring OCTOBER TIDE to the next level. Our new strong line-up feels utterly satisfying and we are more than ready for the future to come. We are currently finishing up the writing process for the yet untitled fourth full-length which will be recorded during May and June at Black Lounge Studio with Mr. Jonas Kjellgren behind the knobs. This upcoming OCTOBER TIDE recording will surely be a deadly doom metal masterpiece, you mark my words!"

Pulverised Records label manager Roy Yeo further commented:

"Having been a personal long-time fan of the band, there was no way we would let this chance slip past us to sign them for the new album! With their brand of despondent and mind-numbing modus operandi that is truly unique to OCTOBER TIDE, it is clearly evident that the band had already found their sound as heard on "A Thin Shell". Now that the album deal is signed, sealed and delivered, we now wait in anticipation on how the brand new opus will mould itself into yet another benchmark masterpiece!

However the band have shifted members, with Tobias Netzell (vocals) and Pierre Stam (bass) both exiting for personal reasons and are replaced by bassist Mattias Norrman (ex-Katatonia, ex-Interment, etc) and vocalist Alexander Högbom (Volturyon, Spasmodic).

OCTOBER TIDE is:

Alexander Högbom (Volturyon, Spasmodic) - Vocals
Fredrik Norrman (Uncanny, ex-Katatonia) - Guitars
Mattias Norrman (Dellamorte, ex-Katatonia, ex-Interment) - Bass
Emil Alstermark (Mandylon) - Guitars
Robin Bergh (ex-Gorement, ex-Amaran) - Drums

James Charles "Jim" Marshall dies at the age of 88.

5/4/2012

It is with great sadness that the founder of the renowned Marshall amplification business, Mr. Jim Marshall has passed away at the grand age of 88. He is best known for his development of the amp for which has been used by countless globally-known guitarists, regarded as the amplification pioneer and known by an elegant colloquailism in respect to music 'talk'; 'The Father of Loud'.

Born in 1923 in the area of Acton in West London, Jim was brought into music by his fellow bloodline owing to being established music hall artists, but his childhood was devastatingly dogged by tubercular bones thus hospitalising him and as such lead to a depletion in his level of edication, whilst resulting in his ommittance from national service during the Second World War, but coincidentally focused on becoming a vocalist and drummer owing to the lack of musicians at the time. Daily he worked as an electric engineer and thus aided with his sensational enthusiasm for music lead to the portable amplifier, thus the legacy became born.

Bettering his drumming skills enabled Marshall to teach upcoming musicians which led them to become world-renowned musicians, such as Mitch Mitchell who went on to play for The Jimi Hendrix Experience and also Micky Underwood who went on to drum for the late legendary guitarist Ritchie Blackmore.

His business life started by owning a music shop in Hanwell initially selling drums and then shifting his sales into the guitar realm; leading to guitarists such as Ritchie Blackmore and Pete Townshend purchasing from him, leading to his reputation as a successful business musician being established further. The Marshall amplifier became a reality upon recruiging Dudley Craven whose expertise had resided in the Record Label EMI; thus leading to Marshall Amplification LTD being established in 1962.

1984 saw Marshall being awarded the "Queens Award For Export", bestowed by our present Queen Elizabeth II, he has also been honoured in receival of his OBE (Order of the British Empire).

All at Global Metal Network pass our respect and condolences to Jim Marshall's siblings, family and friends.

Ledgendary Power Metal band Sabaton call a change of direction

Picture
Swedish Power Metal titans Sabaton have regretfully parted ways with a couple of their members, this was announced on Friday 30th March 2012 and is sure to leave a gaping hole in the Power Metal avenue. This is what the band had to say about the bandmembers parting ways:

"Starting a band at the age of 18 is simple, keeping it intact for 12 years is much harder, and finally we have come to the crossroad where we will go separate ways.

Pär Sundström and Joakim Brodén will continue to battle on stage, carrying the banner of Sabaton to further victories.

We will always have an eternal bond to each other, created by more than 12 years of friendship & touring, and wish each other long and prosperous lives with families, various projects and musical careers.

In the end, all six of us will end up in our own glorious future..."

However singer Joakim Brodén and bass player Pär Sundström will continue fighting but with new members. The new lineup is expected to be announced on Tuesday, the 3rd April 2012

All at Global Metal Network wish the band and it's outgoing members all the best for the future and shall be interested in what they get up to.
