Iceland's Kontinuum sign to Season of Mist‏

Season Of Mist are proud to announce the signing of Kontinuum. The Icelandic-wave influenced ambient rockers will release their next full-length on this label.

Regarding their signing, Kontinuum confessed that they: "are very pleased to announce our signing with Season of Mist. To us it is important to work with people that we connect with. People that relate to our creative output and vision. This is why we look forward to our future cooperation with Season of Mist."

Kontinuum were conceived with the aim to create hypnotic and spiritual musical noise in Reykjavik, Iceland in the year 2010.

After sending demo tracks of their debut album 'Earth Blood Magic' to a few labels, a first deal was quickly struck. Kontinuum wasted no time and entered Sigur Rós' Sundlaugin Studio in the Icelandic town Mosfellsbær in order to begin record their first full length, which was released in 2012.

'Earth Blood Magic' received rave reviews across the board and was voted rock album of the year in Morgunblaðið, Iceland.

The band played numerous shows in 2013 and established a reputation as a powerful live band.

Kontinuum started working on their sophomore album in 2014. A first single titled "I Huldusal" was released the same year and received substantial radio play in Iceland, while even topping the charts of the island's largest alternative rock radio station.

'Kyrr' hit the stores in April 2015 alongside the brand new single "Breathe". Following the release of their second album, Kontinuum embarked on two tours in Germany and performed at several festivals including the prestigious Roadburn Festival (Netherlands), Eurosonic Festival (Netherlands), Icelandic Airwaves and Eistnaflug Festival at home, and Lithuania's Devilstone Festival.

Spanish Black / Death Metal force Stormvold release new album on Xtreem Music‏

30/6/2016

Picture

With the name inspired by Molested (cult Norwegian band from the '90s), Stormvold have emerged yet again, this time with a full length with enhanced influences of bands like Bolzer and Genocide Shrines. Any fan of hard-hitting black / death metal will revel in this.

Stormvold return with their maiden full length after creating waves in the underground with their demos (also reissued by Xtreem Music). Expect black / death metal with ferocious intensity, thundering percussion and fearsome vocals. Reminiscent of bands like Bolzer, Genocide Shrines and Angelcorpse, they've combined their influences to create an evil sound, one that is forceful as well as intimidating. Ebola and Instigator conjure up music that is scathing and vile, propelled by an infernal force that hearkens back to the primitive sound South America is well known for. Chaos is kept in check however so as not to obfuscate the bulging rhythms underneath, as roars of torment echo across the span of eight tracks. Stormvold are taking no prisoners and aren't wasting time with occult interludes. This is black/ d eath metal at its most vicious and powerful. It's an investment made by Xtreem Music that has paid off well.

Australia's Stormtide set to release 'Wrath Of An Empire' via Metal Hell Records

30/6/2016

Picture

With the albums huge orchestral movements, crushing guitar riffs and guttural vocals, Stormtide's debut Wrath of an Empire succeeds where many have failed in joining epic metal with epic story.

Taking influence from European and Asian styles of music Stormtide has expertly crafted an album that appeals to traditionalists and fans of modern metal genres alike. Effortlessly transitioning between blast beat to soul wrenching quiet passages. This is an album without filler songs, without cliches and without mercy!

Stormtide is a High-Fantasy inspired Symphonic Death metal band formed in Melbourne, Australia in late 2013. Since that time Stormtide has toured extensively to the major hubs in Australia including Sydney, Adelaide and Dubbo - playing alongside elite international artists such as Eluveitie, Finntroll and Gloryhammer as part of various tour support endeavors.

Described as "Fantasy Metal” by most, Stormtide combines heavily orchestrated movements with uniquely heavy guitar and drum work. Paired with deeply guttural vocals, an intense live show involving swords, sorcery and stylish full plate armour and an intricately woven story centring on the adventures of the Warrior, the Prince and the Magician.

Canada's Numenorean stream 'Devour' from new album 'Home'

30/6/2016

Picture

Canadian post-black metal shooting stars Numenorean are unleashing the third skin-crawling song taken from their forthcoming debut album 'Home', which will be out in stores worldwide on July 22nd.

The haunting track "Devour" is now exclusively streaming via the official media partners below.

Rock Hard (DE)
Pitchline Zine (ES)
Kaaoszine (FI)
Radio Metal (FR)
Rocking (GR)
Kronos Mortus (HU)
Andfari (IS)
Rock Hard (IT)
Lords of Metal (NL)
Eternal Terror (NO)
Kvlt (PL)
Ultraje (PT)
Antichrist Magazine (UA)
Zero Tolerance (UK)

Regarding the new song, Numenorean comment: "Our fourth song 'Devour' lights the first real glimpse of hope on our new album 'Home', before everything is destroyed again with the final grandiose act and closing song 'Laid Down'..."

Numenorean have previously revealed artwork and track-list of 'Home', which can both be viewed below. As this album cover may cause controversy and be regarded offensive by some viewers (an extensive explanation for its artistic meaning is given by the band below), Season Of Mist are also offering the neutral slipcase cover.

Tracklisting

1. Home
2. Thirst
3. Shoreless
4. Devour
5. Laid Down

Never judge a book by its cover – this adage might also be applied to album artwork and in particular the debut full-length of Numenorean. The Canadian post-black metal act has crafted a musical masterpiece that embraces beauty, harshness, brutality, and melancholy in equal measure and transforms those ingredients into breathtaking melodies and riffs.

Yet the cover art will come as a shock (an alternative slipcase cover is provided in case you deem it unsuitable for publication) to many, which is surprisingly not the intention. The best explanation for this particular choice of cover art and the meaning behind this record are provided by Numenorean:

"Our album revolves around the idea of 'loss' and a longing for something that we as humans will never achieve. We are all empty and broken in some form or another, so we look for fulfilment through things like money, sex, relationships, drugs, religion, and a variety of other things but, in the end, we ultimately remain void of any true happiness. Perhaps what we are really searching for is the innocence that we once had as a child. However, since we are incapable of ever getting that back, the only place we can perhaps find this comfort once more is in death. The little girl on the cover represents this final resting place for us – beyond our existence in this world.

The title of the album sums it up once you realize that she does not have to go through all the pain and sorrow of becoming an adult. 'Home' evokes this melancholic blissful state within the listener and as you spend more time becoming familiar with her picture, you begin to see the music reflecting in her face seemingly close to smiling. Collectively we thought it was important to choose an image that established the language of the album as well as something that would allow the listener to begin their experience before even hearing the first song. It is not vague, it is sincere and dangerously straight to the point.

The album is meant to be listened to as an entire journey that transforms you from start to finish and although the lyrics vary on different aspects of loss, all five song titles represent the succession of one's life. 'Home': Born into the world with complete innocence. 'Thirst': Searching for answers in questions that life has given you. 'Shoreless': Feelings of hopelessness. 'Devour': Willingly letting life destroy you. 'Laid Down': Making peace with what you have become and surrendering yourself to the great nothingness

USA's Gemini Syndrome announce new album 'Memento Mori' and launch 360° video for 'Anonymous'‏

30/6/2016

Picture

Gemini Syndrome have announced that they will release their new album "Memento Mori" on August 19th via Another Century. The Alternative / Nu Metal outfit will continue to push the envelope both musically and thematically on the upcoming record, which is the follow up to their 2013 debut "Lux". "Memento Mori" is a direct successor to Lux in a three part trilogy; with the latter being a representation of birth, and the former acting a reminder of life.

Brian Medina (Drums) comments on the meaning of the album title and artwork (which can be found below), stating:- "The title of the new album, Memento Mori, essentially means 'Remember, We Die'. The artwork is designed to show the different layers of our physical and spiritual form going through the phases of disintegration, ending in the release of the soul."

Last week the band also announced that Daniel Sahagún (Guitar) and Charles Lee Salvaggio (Guitar) had joined the group. In addition to both men joining the band's touring line up, they are also featured on the new record.

Speaking on the writing process for "Memento Mori" in comparison to ‘Lux’, Medina also states:

"With Lux, we were a new band. It was our first raw expression of us as a group. Now we've gone through things like switching record labels and replacing band members, and the whole experience has strengthened us as a unit. We have a new sense of determination and feel that Memento Mori shows us delivering on a higher level in every aspect."

09. Alive Inside
10. Inception

12. Say Goodnight

Gemini Syndrome have released the first offering from "Memento Mori", the hard hitting track 'Anonymous'. The song is a direct response to the war on mental freedom being waged by divisive elements, from the media to politics, with the goal being to protect the sovereignty of our mind and spirit. The virtual reality 360° music video directed by Brian Cox offers a unique and immersive viewing experience. Fans watching the video using their smartphones or any other device with VR capabilities will be able manipulate the camera angle, allowing them to view it from multiple perspectives. Check out the 'Anonymous' video here: https://youtu.be/R55XJyLLNQk

In support of the release of Memento Mori, Gemini Syndrome have announced the first leg of their upcoming US headlining tour, which is slated to start on July 13th. Joining the band are fellow Los Angeles based rock groups and Another Century label-mates Stitched Up Heart and 9ELECTRIC.

Dead Rhetoric premiere new track from Indian Brutal Death Metallers Wired Anxiety

Dead Rhetoric (US) has premiered a fresh track off this exciting and much-awaited release from Mumbai, India
here. Yes, it's indeed produced by Arkady Navaho of Navaho Studios (Katalepsy, 7 H.Target, etc.) and features artworks done by the famous artist Coki Greenway (Aborted, Devourment, etc.).

New Bombay boys in Wired Anxiety have left something special for posterity, before moving out of the country for higher studies. 'The Delirium of Negation' has to be one of the most ambitious and well-recorded death metal albums from the country. None other than Arkady Navaho of Navaho Studios (Katalepsy, 7 H.Target, etc.) mixed and mastered the release for maximum impact. The band's sounding mightier than ever before; the riffs are chunkier than the flesh on a water buffalo, percussion that's literally floor-crumbling, and compelling growling that adds a lot of momentum to the proceedings. This is death metal with vigour, force and panache, the new face of Indian death metal. There are not one but two artworks for this release, made by the reputed Indonesian artist Coki Greenway (Aborted, Devourment, etc.) and both are presented in a special slipcase edition that's strictly limited. If you're into death metal that's brutal and heavy, Wired Anxiety are bound to please.

Track list:

1. Test Subject: Human
2. Heavily Sedated
3. Severe Comorbidity
4. Focus 22
