Turkish death / black metallers Serpent Of Old sign with Transcending Obscurity

Turkish death / black metal band Serpent of Old have signed with Transcending Obscurity. I've been looking forward to their release most eagerly and this debut showcases a brilliant blend of various styles. Their music could loosely be described as Ulcerate covering The Chasm and it's clear that they're on to something special. You can listen to one of the songs from the album titled 'Ensemble Under The Dark Sun' AT THIS LINK.

The band states:

"We are relieved to be able to finally present to you our debut album. A lot of thought, time and effort were put into this one. It really brings out the fire in each member as it intertwines compositional elements of black metal with structures of death metal that is unique to our breed. Tarkan Gozubuyuk, Bassist, states:-

"After the Turkish military coup in 1980, we were misfit kids in an authoritarian environment.
The music reached out and offered the liberty to express our frustration in a civilized way.
We’ve always looked up to great legends and aspired to be like them. Becoming a band was our primary objective. We yearned to mature into fine musicians and belong in the music scene we love. It’s been the case ever since. Fortunately, we’ve endured long enough to see our work relate to a younger generation and feel like a ring of the chain that binds us.

Our style is mostly identified with its blend of Anatolian music with heavy metal. The upcoming record is about our generation who still lives under the shadow of guns. We've reunited with all former members for our last stand along the purpose against fascism, with music as our only weapon. The songs on the album are monuments of faith, gratitude, passion, conceit, failure, acceptance and regret in one's life. We were fortunate enough to feature a timeless master, Erkan Ogur on 'baritone fretless guitar' and 'kopuz'; along with Cahit Berkay from the legendary Mogollar, playing the 'yaylı tambur'.

Music is a language, magically native to everyone. The world's most ancient tradition and a loyal comrade in each one's own personal struggle. It unites us in shared feelings and insight. "It's a very unique experience, really. Think about it, a 30 year old heavy metal band reuniting with all of its members on an acoustic "best of" album in 2017. On top of that, touring with 9 people on stage for 5 years and collaborating on a new album with all of the 9 members. Honestly, I do believe that Makina Elektrika is the most collaborative work that I've done in my life, considering 9 members creating together! I'd also like to note that most of the members have had very successful solo careers in performing, producing, film making and in celebrity circles in the past years. Now when we're on the bus or backstage, studio or stage we all drop our last names and find an environment to express our individualities freely just like how we did decades ago when we were in our twenties. Pentagram is a heavy metal act from Istanbul, performing since 1987. After several changes in
the line up over the decades, the band reunited with all former members for their continued stand against fascism, with music as their weapon.

The reunion was intended to be exclusively for an acoustic album, a live tour and a concert video to celebrate Pentagram's 30th anniversary, in 2017. However, the healing outcome of this gathering has driven the band to make their 8th studio record, Makina Elektrika, as a 9-piece band, with four lead singers.

The upcoming album Makina Elektrika drops September 9th via Sony Music. A blend of Anatolian music with heavy metal, the album consists of English and Turkish lyric songs and an instrumental track.

All songs were written by Pentagram, except two cover tributes; "Dunya" by Yavuz Cetin (a fellow musician who passed away in 2001) and "Seek and Destroy" by Metallica, in memory of Cliff Burton.

Imperial Age no longer Russia-based as band relocates to Turkey

Four members of Russian symphonic metal band Imperial Age have taken the decision to relocate to Turkey following the ongoing situation between Russia and Ukraine.

The band issued the following statement:-

"Aor, Jane, Anna and Paul have left Russia and moved to Turkey. We had to relocate in order to keep the band going.

We will restore our strength here, and then move forward - probably to another country. Meanwhile, we are announcing our new single "The Way is the Aim", out March 18."

Turkish post metallers Bipolar Architecture sign with Wormholedeath

   Hailing from Turkey, post metal outift Bipolar Architecture are glad to announce the signing of a deal with Wormholedeath for the release of their full-length album "The Criticizer", date TBA.

   On the 5th of December, 2020 they will release their first single "Dystopia Is The Reality", taken from the above mentioned upcoming album.

   Bipolar Architecture was founded by Sarp Keski (vocals / guitars), Enes Akovalı (bass) and Burak Altıparmak (lead guitars). Then with the joining of Ata Çetin (drums), the line-up was completed in early 2020. Bipolar Architecture are located in both Berlin (Germany) and Istanbul (Turkey).

   Their debut 3-song EP "The Tragic Protagonist" was self released in May, 2020 on digital platforms such as Spotify, Deezer and Apple Music.

   The sound consists of various genres blended harmoniously; such as post-rock, melodic black / death metal, djent and metalcore, with atmospheric lead guitars and groovy drums combining with screaming and growling vocals. We call it post-metal.

Turkish black metal cult Zifir reveal the new track "Demoniac Ethics." The track is the first to be revealed from the band's highly anticipated fourth album, Demoniac Ethics, set for international release on January 24th, 2020 via Duplicate Records. An Istanbul-based trio, Zifir strike back with Demoniac Ethics. Their second release for Duplicate, it ups the ante on 2017's Kingdom of Nothingness, with the aggressive parts growing harsher and the atmospheric elements ever expanding. Demoniac Ethics shows religion though a twisted kaleidoscope, exposing the imprisoning religious dogma and tyranny that has occurred throughout history - and does to this day. Whereas Kingdom Of Nothingness was a harrowing glimpse into the world of Zifir, Demoniac Ethics takes you right into the innermost sanctum of their anti-religious agenda, while delivering one of the strongest and most forward-thinking black metal releases of late.

Zifir was founded by O.Ö and O.S. in 2006. They released their debut album, You Must Come With Us, in 2007. This debut album reflected the concept of Zifir's black metal vision, and the whole content supports this vision with all its instruments, where everything - recording, mix, mastering, and artwork - was DIY and done by the band. By December 2007, Nursuz joined Zifir on drums, and the trio started working on a new album with their new lineup. The recording was finally completed by 2010, and the band signed with Dunkelkunst Productions for the upcoming album. Titled Protest Against Humanity, Zifir's second album was released in 2011. After the album, O.S. quit the band.

Come 2012, Zifir released a split CD with Belgium's Cult of Erinyes. After the split CD release, Zifir worked on songwriting between 2012 and 2016 for their third album. It was December 2016 when the band finished its recording and signed a deal with Duplicate Records. Finally, in September 2017, Kingdom of Nothingness was released by Duplicate on CD and vinyl LP formats, with the cover artwork created by Russian artist Vergvoktre.

By November 2018, Ilgar joined the band on bass guitar, and Zifir has become a trio once again. After a recording session between 2018 and 2019, Zifir announced their fourth full-length, Demoniac Ethics, which is scheduled to be released on January 24th, 2020 via Duplicate Records. With stark 'n' haunting cover art created again Vergvoktre, Zifir here have truly hit their apex in terms of fullness of vision and foulness of execution, its intensity always simmering with haunting tension. One could say Demoniac Ethics is ceremonial, given its ominously hovering aspect, but within this ghostly atmosphere lay razors forever circling one's flesh. Suitably, form fits concept, as a cursory read of the album's component song titles salaciously suggest: "Chaos Clouds," "Empire of Worms," "Chants for Execution," and the telltale "Insects as Messengers," among others. Thrashfire emerged in 2006, releasing their first demo in 2007, a promo EP in 2010 and their debut album "Thrash Burned the Hell" in 2011. In 2015, the band signed to Xtreem Music and released a new EP entitled "Vengeance of Fire". Thrashfire have played with bands such as Destruction, Artillery, Rumble Militia, Venom Inc, as well as numerous shows within Turkey and a mini tour in Germany in 2017, where they will return in November 2019 to play at the True Thrash Fest Hamburg.
