Their first album, “Obtenebration” debuted in 2009, followed by “Psychosynthesis”, in 2012. Despite a rising tide of difficulties and misfortunes that would have justified any band to quit, Dimlight pressed on through the storm and in 2015 they released their concept album “The Lost Chapters”, confirming their resilience, passion and dedication to delivering high quality extreme music which always pushes the envelope with each step of the way.

For this album, the band enlisted Deins Forkas to create the album artwork. Bassist Henkka Blacksmith commented on the cover:-

“For some years already I have wanted to try a different approach with our cover art. We are so used to digital art so that is really hard to do something else. Doing it all the way with a computer is somewhat safe and convenient. This time we all agreed to try it old school. We found this cool dude and gave him simple instructions. The cover has to be purple and the reaper has to be central. Half a year later we got his work, and with a little tweaking, we have the cover of Hexed. It is very different from what we are used to, even the Reaper looks different, but at the same time very spooky.“

Northern Irish Metallers Ketos reveal details of debut album 'First Strike'

23/2/2019

Picture

Northern Irish metallers Ketos recently signed to Hostile Media and are now on the cusp of releasing their debut album, aptly entitled First Strike. Guitarist Keith HD has this to say about the album:-

"The title of the album is a reference to that of a nuclear attack, each song can stand on its own, and each song has something different to say. The lyrics do not follow any formula, some are written metaphorically such as 'Escape the Chains' and 'The Lost Ones', and some tackle topics head on such as 'Temptations' and 'Harmacist'. A variety of different topics are covered, from the religious oppression and covered up abuse, to addiction and the pharmaceutical industry."

Drawing influence from a broad spectrum of genres and bands such as Parkway Drive and Children of Bodom, Ketos have focused on creating catchy, heavy yet melody driven songs littered with slick and intricate lead guitar work. Those with a penchant for the latter mentioned lead work will especially find First Strike a riveting listen.

The album was recorded at JSR Audio with Josh Robinson.

"Josh has proven himself to be at the top of his game and was the obvious choice for the results we were after. Overall, we spent about 10 days in the studio, recording the album. We were no doubt a massive pain in his ass with getting the mixes absolutely perfect, but he was committed to getting us the results we wanted."

The artwork by Coki Greenway, depicts the Kraken and a nod to the bands home-town of Belfast with the world famous Harland and Wolff cranes, which were used in the construction of many ships including the ill fated Titanic. "We saw Coki's artwork online and immediately knew we had to get him to the art for First Strike. We thought his style suited our style and would compliment the album perfectly. Coki nailed what we were after and we love the finished product. The nod to Belfast is really just a tip of the hat to where we got started and to all the people who have supported us."

Danish Modern Metallers Forever Still unveil 'Breathe In Colours' music video

22/2/2019

Picture

On March 29th, Forever Still will unleash their sophomore full-length release 'Breathe In Colours' via Nuclear Blast. Inspired by a dystopian cyberpunk future and the fact that some of the biggest works in that genre, Blade Runner and Akira, are set in 2019, Denmark's high-fliers have adapted a dark musical concept for this record and take a look at the world being on the verge of ecological collapse, while humanity is fleeing into cyberspace to escape the horrors of the real world. After the epic  'Rew1nd', the band now unveils the second single of their upcoming album - their title track 'Breathe In Colours'. The song title and album name was inspired by a memory from Maja's past, as she explains:

"The album title was born from an experience, I had as a young teenager, where I started wearing all black and a friend of my mother’s suggested that I wear more colours. I told her that it’s just an aesthetic preference and she replied that it was okay “as long as I remembered to keep the colours on the inside”. At that time I thought, it was the stupidest thing, I’d ever heard, since wearing black clothes doesn’t automatically mean you’re sad inside. Despite thinking that, her words stuck with me and I was able to have it make sense in a new way much later in life. For this album it’s an affirmation that even though the world sometimes seems cold and grey, there is still colour and kindness to be found, but in order to see it, we first have to find the colours on the inside."

Swedish Melodic Progressive Metallers Darkwater release "In Front Of You" single

The Swedish melodic progressive metal band Darkwater will release their new album "Human" on March 1st via Ulterium Records. The album will be available on CD, 2LP and digital. "In Front Of You", the third single from the album can be streamed at YouTube below.

Link: https://youtu.be/Mu0NTxesa0k

"Human" won't leave fans of melodic metal or progressive metal disappointed. The songs are heavier, more melodic and atmospheric than before and the band worked really hard on tweaking the ten songs and over 76 minutes of playing time into perfection. Jacob Hansen (Evergrey, Volbeat, Amaranthe) was chosen to mix and master the album and he did a fantastic job which resulted in the best sounding Darkwater album to date.

The lyrics of the album welcomes you into a world of you and me, how we affect the world around us and the struggles we deal with as humans.

German Progressive Groove Metallers Sober Truth to release new album "Psychosis" on Feb 23rd

20/2/2019

Picture

Experimental. Variable. Unconventional: Some attributes which perfectly describe the sound of Sober Truth. The sound of this band is quite unique, a break of most musical conventions.

From the start in 2007, narrow-minded folks and rigid ears have been struggling with the edgy sound of the Progressive Groove formation.

On the new album buster "Psychosis" singer and guitarist Torsten Schramm, lead guitarist Aaron Vogelsberg, bass-witch Jules RoCkwell and drummer Sam Baw go so massive in the full as never before.

The quartet's most mature work to date presents a truly eruptive burst of Modern Metal music that takes its listeners into another world.

10. Psychosis (06:24)
11. Collapse Unplugged (04:27)

The combination of melancholic rich sounds, energetically resounding guitar riffs, driving drums and punchy bass-lines can excite fans of Progressive Rock / Metal, Groove Metal and Thrash Metal alike.

The hard and groovy guitar riffs on "Psychosis" are a powerful base to bring out the driving choruses and the very versatile vocals along with rough shouts.

Blastbeats, tappings, clean parts, the 2019 palette is quite wide. But the accurately targeted diversity in the tracks also includes rousing played, very variably accented drums.

Lyrically, SOBER TRUTH have gone to so much trouble for "Psychosis" to compete with a contemporary concept. (Markus Eck)

The band commented about: "What do we see in the human being facing us, does he show us his truth or a mask? The inner grief changes him, imperceptibly, cruelly, tearing him and scarring his psyche. Everyone knows the feeling of powerlessness, at first timid, then with force flooding our consciousness, unstoppable and mercilessly. The wave ebbs, leaving behind a trembling, naked body, the worst is yet to come: fear ..."

More: "With titles like 'Akardos' (Heartless), 'Solitude' and especially the title track 'Psychosis', we enter a personal universe of grief, loneliness, doubt that many people know. With 'Psychosis' awakens maybe a truth that we repressed ... but also hope, power and confidence. SOBER TRUTH takes us on a mental rollercoaster ride that lets the last track roll out congenially. We're changing every day, all our lives. The new album picks up where we start to repress. 'Psychosis' looks at our scarred psyche and tells our story."

Official release of the new album "Psychosis": February, 23th 2019.
