Québecois black metal upstarts Trépas premiere the new track "Rivages Sombres" at Decibel magazine's website. The track hails from the band's striking debut album, L'héritage du monde, set for international release on December 5th via Sepulchral Productions. Hear Trépas' "Rivages Sombres" in its entirety exclusively HERE.

Founded by members and ex-members of Morgue and Outre-Tombe, Trépas is one of the more recent black metal bands emerging from Québec. The band journeys between harsher moments and more atmospheric passages, all complemented by acoustic guitars and just a dash of doomish sensibility, creating a sound that is their very own in the process. A newcomer that is sure to delight fans of the more brooding and melancholic side that this scene has been known for!

In the meantime, hear the brand-new track"Rivages Sombres" exclusively HERE, courtesy of Decibel, North America's only monthly metal magazine. Pre-order for the album can be found HERE.

Québecois Black Metal elite Ossuaire stream the entirety of their highly anticipated second album, Derniers Chants, at Decibel magazine's website. Set for international release on October 15th via Sepulchral Productions, hear Ossuaire's Derniers Chants in its entirety exclusively HERE.

A mere six months after the release of their first, widely acclaimed album through Sepulchral Productions, Ossuaire is already back at it, with the stunning conclusion to their two-album concept on the downfall of Christianity. Derniers Chants features the characteristic vengeful-yet-melodic riffing that has helped the band quickly rise among the well-established Québec scene while also developing a more epic side, such as on the spectacular album closer. Another must for fans of the Québec black metal scene!

Québécois Death Metallers Outre-Tombe stream new album via Decibel magazine's website

After three years of deathlike silence, Québécois death metal adepts Outre-Tombe return with  Nécrovortex, their second album of grotesque graveyard anthems, through Temple of Mystery Records. The CD version shall be released internationally on October 17th, while the vinyl version shall follow in early December. And today, Decibel magazine streams the whole album in its entirety.  Hear Outre-Tombe's Nécrovortex in its entirety exclusively HERE.

To the band’s credit, Outre-Tombe have not attempted to flood the underground with useless releases; over the course of their eight-year existence, the band has released a single demo and two albums, all of which are meticulously written, performed, and recorded. This methodical approach to their work is part of what sets Outre-Tombe apart from the majority of their peers.

With this album, Outre-Tombe continue to sharpen their sound, which faithfully captures the essence of late '80s and early '90s death metal. Outre-Tombe’s influences are no secret—they clearly draw inspiration from bands such as Grave, Nihilist, Asphyx, and Pestilence—but rattling off a list of classic death metal influences doesn’t do justice to the impact that Outre-Tombe achieve with their music, a sound that is as relentless as it is morbid.

The songs on Nécrovortex are generally aggressive and pummelling, leaving the listener with little or no respite from the assault, but even at breakneck speed, there’s a compositional intricacy on display. These songs reveal the aural machinations of horror and death through riffs that are coordinated, precisely carved and chiselled, and surgically sutured together, tightly, with no room for error. The production is just crisp enough to allow the instrumentation to stand out, permitting the listener to grasp the many memorable riffs around which each track is constructed.

The vocals are also unique. Bassist and vocalist Crachat captures the guttural essence of the French language with his vocals, disgorged and spewed across the tracks. Like every element of the band’s sound, the vocals are insistent, commanding attention. Lyrically, the band focuses on horror and the macabre, but with a rare degree of sophistication. For those capable of deciphering French, the imagery conjured by the lyrics is extraordinarily vivid and perfectly suited for the music.

Completing the overall presentation of Nécrovortex is cover art masterfully created by Matt “Putrid” Carr. It is, therefore, with tremendous honour that Temple of Mystery Records presents Outre-Tombe’s second offering on black vinyl, as well as a limited die-hard coloured vinyl edition.
