Finnish post-hardcore ‘violent pop’ metal collective Blind Channel have released their brand new single ‘Don’t Fix Me’, taken from the forthcoming album Lifestyles Of The Sick & Dangerous out July 8th via Century Media Records. The album is available to pre-order here. ‘Don’t Fix Me’ is a huge rock anthem, where mighty riffs and pummelling drums meet synths, captivating harmonies and a frenzied rap from vocalist Niko Moilanen. The accompanying video captures the band on the road during their recent tours across the US and Europe which is available to watch further down. Regarding the single Blind Channel say:- “‘Don’t Fix Me’ continues the theme of brokenness, featured on the upcoming album. However, this time we decided to be empowering and uplifting and wrote something people wanna scream while having the craziest time of their lives. This song is the soundtrack for the wildest parties and the cure for the day-after’s hangover.” ‘Don’t Fix Me’ is the latest song to be taken from the band’s upcoming fourth album Lifestyles Of The Sick & Dangerous, which also features the previously released award-winning and multi-million streamed singles including ‘Bad Idea’, ‘Dark Side’, ‘Balboa’ and ‘We Are No Saints’. Blind Channel were the most successful artist at the recent Finnish Grammy Awards (Emma Gala) last month, where they received six awards, including two for ‘Dark Side’ (‘Song Of The Year’ & ‘Most Streamed Song’). They also were awarded ‘Band Of The Year’, ‘Artist Of The Year’ (by public vote), ‘Rock Of The Year’ and the ‘Export Award’ – the latter testament to their rapidly rising international profile having spent almost the entirety of this year on the road throughout the US, Europe and UK. Blind Channel have spent 2022 carving an unstoppable path with their astounding live shows and new music. Following a US run with From Ashes To New earlier this year, the band are currently on the road with Electric Callboy across Europe. Blind Channel have been announced for a number of high profile festivals in their homeland this summer before returning to the UK in September for a headline tour. The album is available to pre-order here. Speaking about the new track the band say:- “‘Bad Idea’ is a serenade of self-pity and an unsuccessful apology. In the lyrics, we’re getting personal and digging deeper than ever. The song came to life many years ago, when relationships ended in a very ugly manner and all you could think of was: ”well I warned you.” "Lifestyles Of The Sick & Dangerous" is the band’s fourth studio album and also features previously released singles including ‘Dark Side’, ‘Balboa’ and ‘We Are No Saints’. Regarding the album the band say:- “This album is a memento of the toughest, yet the best couple of years in our lives. BLIND CHANNEL online: Having recently signed a worldwide deal with Century Media and entering the single charts all over the globe with their Eurovision single ‘Dark Side’, Blind Channel – rising new metal stars from Finland – release their equally beguiling follow-up single, ‘Balboa’. The powerful Eurovision predecessor, with more than 40 million streams to date, set the bar incredibly high. But ‘Balboa’ is easily an equivalent triumph, striking another hammer blow to further establish Blind Channel’s very own brand of ‘Violent-Pop’. Towering guitars, feral screams and alluring anthemic choruses all collide together in an explosion of pure power; a bold offering, clearly stating that Blind Channel are just getting started. The band comment:- “Balboa is a reminder of who we are - who we have always been. It’s a violent pop show-off about getting back up again and again, no matter how hard you’ve been hit. It’s us sticking to our vision without compromise. Underdogs are a dangerous species. This is a call to arms to every hard- working dreamer out there, and the soundtrack of our career so far. We keep coming back.” The release of the new single is also accompanied by a spectacular music video, which filmed in a boxing gym, lives up to the promise of title. Watch the video for ‘Balboa’ HERE. Blind Channel were formed in 2013 in the city of Oulu, way up in the North of Finland, by a group of five talented, determined and ambitious friends – vocalists Joel Hokka and Niko Vilheim, drummer Tommi Lalli, guitarist Joonas Porko and bass player Olli Matela. This fivesome has stuck together to this day, in the spirit of the 2018 second album Blood Brothers, each of them collectively responsible for the songwriting. Last year saw the addition of a new member, as long time friend Alex Mattson joined to play keyboard, samples and percussion and completes the current line up. Following the release of their 2020 album Violent Pop, ‘Balboa’ is the band’s latest taste of music from an upcoming album due for release early next year, working with renowned UK producer Dan Lancaster (Blink 182, Bring Me The Horizon, Don Broco). |
